Mr Slye, you need to correct your recommendation for using the tire pressure printed on the sidewall. It could cause a blowout.

This is hands down the best video I've seen for the use of my new Model 3. Thanks Andy!
Hey Andy, just got my first ever Tesla this morning and this video was amazing to watch. Thank you.
Great tips! Not sure if it was mentioned, but for your windshield wipers - tapping the end of the left stalk, as you mentioned, brings up the speeds on the screen. Instead of tapping on your screen you can also increase the speed by pressing your left scroll wheel to the left or the right to increase or decrease the wiper speed. I found this to be easier than tapping on the screen.
Get that fifth shortcut button in your phone app for your quick buttons! Touch and hold the left side of the second from right icon and drag it as far to the right of your phone screen to open up the fifth slot. Drag another icon up from the bottom available icons.
Great idea
@@bonya4585 Thank you.
Thanks for the tip
Been thinking of purchasing an EV for years now. Tried out the LEAF and was hyped for the IONIQ 5, but time has proven that Tesla is the way to go. Thx a lot brother! Will be ordering using your referral link!
For those of us who are still children in adult bodies, You can also open the charge port by saying “ Telsa Open butthole “ when you hit the voice command button on the wheel
I thought at first I'd missed the tip for auto-parking, but this is a feature only for people that have FSD, so that's something Andy would have ideally clarified. 🙃 Lots of other great tips in here though!
You only need enhanced autopilot for auto park, atleast I am pretty sure. Not that I will be getting either.
@@blackfalcon1324 That's true, but doesn't change my basic point as Enhanced AutoPilot is $8K and FSD is $12K (currently) so both are pretty silly. 😜

Can you do it remotely? What's the point in driving into a tight spot if you're still in the car?@@blackfalcon1324
Had my Tesla for four months now. I’ve been saving this video till now. It’s like the new owner 201 video. Thanks
Hey Andy, this may save you and people out there an additional step. At 3:03 the tip regarding Waking The Car I’ve had plenty of success just unlocking my phone instead of going into the app and holding my phone near that center panel between the doors, similar to where you place your Tesla Card. Hope this works for others as well.
Sometimes (very rarely) when it gets super borked, I just turn my phone's bluetooth off and on again to fix the connection.
Another great video!!! I've been driving my Tesla for 2 1/2 years and I still learned a few things that I didn't know or forgot. Thanks for sharing!
Sending address to the car is one of the best I always use. Made navigation so much easier and plan the trip.👍🏻👍🏻
love that feature
I have had my Tesla's for 8 months now and their was a few little tricks I didn't know about, thanks Andy!
Thanks Andy. Very comprehensive and helpful.
Andy, Loved your video. Just picked up my Model Y in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
The Tesla deliver process: Here is you key, your Tesla is in that roll of cars, enjoy. Ha.
As a first time Tesla owner, I did’t know how to unlock or start the car. Should have watched your videos first.
I now have 50 miles on my car and this is a fun car. Thanks for providing a lot of info succinctly.
Very helpful content my brother.Thank you.
Best Tesla video I have seen
Thanks for this video! Just got my 2023 Model Y. 👍💪
You forgot the voice command "Open Butthole" and "Close Butthole"... got love those Tesla Easter Eggs.
for the autopilot timeout instead of stepping out the car, you can just put the car into park and then into drive then it will allow you to autopilot again
I love this channel so much. Im so excited for the day I’ll finally be able to buy myself a Model 3.
This is a ridiculously useful video. Thanks for sharing so many quick tips!
Wonderful information. Thank you.
27:09 mythbusters did a chart on this. You don't have to be super close to start getting benefit. A far as 100 ft.
Through my own experimentation you can also be kitty corner to their rear tire in the adjacent separate lane. And have a nice little gain from their slipstream.
It’s also a courtesy to the truck driver to stay back far enough that he/she can see you in the rear mirrors.
Hi Andy...thanks for putting this together for. us. I just got my Model Y and I learned a lot from you on this video. Keep them coming. Much appreciated.
The best video out there for a new Tesla owner.
thanks!
Awesome video, appreciate it.
Great video Andy: concise, clear and to the point. Appreciate the effort. 🤟👌
Saved this great video as I'll be getting a MY in a couple of months! thank you!
Great advice
The tire pressure written on the tire is the maximum pressure the tire is rated for. You should not pump the tires to this pressure. When you drive, the tire will heat up and exceed this pressure. The tires will wear unevenly and there is the possibility of a blowout.
my MYP23 says 42psi when it’s cold i put 41psi for all my tires. smooth ride.
I've found 45 PSI works well for my 18" tires
I was going to point out the tire pressure thing, but you beat me to it lol 😄 I have a video on my channel where I put 19 inch Aero wheels and low-rolling resistance tires on my Model 3 Performance and it improved my range by 8% to 340 miles 😀
@@aslye quantify this. you can't.....what a joke
My canadian brain just saw a "Defrost car" and i'm automaticly sold
Great tips, I learned a lot, will use them on my Model Y
Very much like your video, the content will bring me good value every time, hope you are more and more successful🥰
Drafting a semi not drifting one 🤣. ❤️
You forgot the “open butthole” command at 7:40 😂
AWESOME 💪 VIDEO ❤
Awesome tips - especially the "trick auto park" lol
But also make sure to actually use your brakes hard some times to not destroy them!
A few times a month at least you should break hard with the break pedal
16:38 - all I have to say is congratulations to your new addition ;)
15:32 A nice little update would be if you could have both percentage and remaining miles displayed. There's plenty of room for it
Or just have the odometer reading in the middle top of the left column (just to the left of the battery charge and a little lower).
I'm only 2 mins in, but in winter climates not using brakes ruins them due to salty ice slush. I'd love if Tesla had (or is it implemented) and option to also mimic the regen braking with actual brake use nearing trip destination. In Norway swapping brakes every two years seems to be an actual thing due to pit rusting etc. and very limited use on EVs. Applying brakes at the end of every trip would have a beneficial effect.
I also know this by first hand experience on my old corolla which I do not use daily, the brake discs just rusted like hell from just not being used and the car being out all year in all kinds of weather.
Best video for my new Model Y. I'd love a version 2 update if you have more tips and tricks!
The green chime 14:09 is available without enhanced autopilot or FSD. That made public available for everyone a year ago.
very cool
Thank you❤
Very helpful
Great video. Recognize a lot of the areas in your video due to CST.
01:00 if you're giving tips about regen braking you should mention as well to use the brakes sometimes..otherwise you can throw them away after two years. Because they use pads and discs designed for ICE cars.
I like your videos and very awesome videos big fan

Never inflate your tires based on Max PSI number on the side of the tire! This is a warning number that you should never inflate it past this, not a recommended PSI setting. Setting your PSI to the maximum number on the side of the tire could result in unsafe handling, and a higher chance of blowing out your tire
What is the recommended psi for model y performance with normal load (3 adults in the car)?
@@djbaaz 42psi
@@stephenthompson1663 I keep my Model Y tires at 48 psi cold/52 psi hot per the sidewall max. pressure. My tires are wearing evenly and I just rotated them at 44k miles for the first time. I am hoping to get 70k miles on them bearing any unforeseen issues. My daily commute is 130 miles (650 miles/week) and I have 45.7k miles in 13 months of ownership. I live in Florida and I have experienced three blowouts (2 were Michelins) over the past 40 years due to the heat on the road with my tires inflated at the door jamb psi (not the tire psi). Since the tire psi label is usually higher, that is where I keep the tires and it has worked extremely well for me in Florida. I am hoping to get 300k miles on Tessie.

Inflate your tyres to the PSI recommended by the car’s manufacturer.

"OPEN BUTTHOLE" 😂
Amazing Video for new owners
Great video, thank you! I believe double tap auto park feature only applies to folks with EAP or FSD, however.
You'd think by now Tesla would include the auto park feature as standard on all their vehicles.
And only with cars that still have USS 😂

Saving up to get a Tesla, hopefully all goes well and I have enough saved by early next year
it is so worth it.
So far in 4 months I have used 800kw to go 4000 miles.
Great video. I think the term is “drafting” and not “drifting”.
Yes… was looking to see if anyone caught this!
Andy, did you ever get the noise problem in your Y fixed? Thanks.
best video ever
"Try drifting behind a semi-truck" How is that going to help??? 🤣
@11:35 I saw in another video that Tesla had removed the percent offset over/under speed limit, leaving only mph or kph offset available. I find that weird and unfortunate, as I would prefer percentage, as on the highway I like to keep up with most of the traffic and find that "speeding" by around 10 mph on the highway and divided multilane secondary roads, but prefer to stay much closer to the speed limit or maybe even a little under in residential and urban streets. A 13% offset for FSD would give me close to 79 mph in 70 zone and 22 in 20 zone, without me have to fiddle with the speed. Do note: I won't be ordering my first Tesla (a Model Y LR AWD) before I can be sure it will have HW4, but it will be before they go stalkless, as I really, really want the stalk controls for turn signals, autopilot, brights and windshield wipers (i'm ambivalent regarding shifting/parking brake)
Do NOT ever fill your tires to the max tire pressure. This is a huge safety issue since your tires will explode if you are speeding or if a nail punctures it. Too much pressure in the tires will cause disaster when something goes wrong.
I've had my Y for 2 mos and this has taught me a lot. The whole FSD/Autopilot/Lane Keep/Cruise Control abilities are SO confusing to me. I have a free trial of Autopilot, but unsure what comes on the care wo paying for upgrades. Can you only have cruise control with a set speed?
I've always thought especially the older S with metal frames on the centre screen should have had capacitive detection of swipes on the screen trim metal... then you could set the left vertical side to a quick volume slider and say the bottom to whatever else, fan speed or temp. Or wipers...
"I'm a stickler for efficiency"
5 seconds later: "autopilot, go 70 mph"
12 seconds later: "85 should be good"
Hi andy i have just bought the new model 3 2024 i dont know which battery i have, should i charge to 100% or 90%?
Thanks Andy. How do judge how far back you should place the car to get the greatest reduction of drag?
There's a mythbusters episode from years ago where they tested everything from 40ft to 2ft, but with a gas car. Should still apply to electric though, probably even more so. I think they found it increased up to about 20ft, and then decreased after that, but 20ft is way too close even with auto emergency braking. At that distance the truck driver cannot see you in their mirrors. 40ft still saw a noticable increase in fuel economy and is *reasonably* safe, though the driver still might be able to see you.
Even without drafting, you'll still see a significant increase in efficiency due to driving slower.
Hi guys dumb question: does the hold feature regen braking degrade the battery more like if you kept plugging in your phone 20 times a day to top-up the battery 20 times a day?
I am researching EV car models and I always wanted a tesla. I own a gas suv 2021 and I am looking at even tesla or toyota ev/ hybrid. I am leaning to tesla after watching your video and should have bought one. Lesson learned and looking forward to own a tesla soon. I want tesla Y.
Andy, regarding the "Secret Auto Park" do you need FSD to use that? or does "AutoPilot" have that?
Take a shot each time he says automatically
TESLA IS DEFINITELY THE BEST ELECTRIC CARE MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN THE WORLD
On secret auto park (4:20), when the car goes into a tight spot, how do you get it to back out, in order to enter the car again 😂? Or do you have to get FSD?
That's a great point. When I manually park in tight spaces I make sure to leave a little more room on the drivers side, but I don't think autopark will do that. If you park the opposite way to the one next to you, (i.e frontwards vs backwards) you can get your passenger door very close to theirs whilst still leaving room for the drivers door, both for you and the car on the opposite side.
@J P Thanks
Do you think the battery gets drained too when its just sitting outside in hot weather temperature. I live in LA and no car garage space so i have to park my car outside of the house. Any recommendations and tips would be gladly appreciated ❤ thank you ❤ : i have Tesla model y long range 2024
Sometime you got to close out of the tesla app and open it; if doors aren’t opening (annoying as well!)
Anyone else have an issue where the calendar does not sync well? I have an iPhone and noticed that sometimes new events (maybe added in the past day) do not show up on the Tesla calendar. Is there a way to force a sync?
Auto park - is that a feature available on model y 2024 long range models ?
Does it work on the 2020/2021 models, pre-facelift and facelift? 😊
20:08 BTW: this is an amazing vid. I'm raising some questions about a few items or related to some of the items in it, but I don't wish to be seen as critical of the vid, even the items I'm questioning. anyone who is planning to get a Model 3/Y like me or are a blessed soul who already has one should have this vid downloaded.
to the point: Some videos I've watch (like wham bam tesla cam) where the save on honk setting was set were cut short at the point of honking when there would otherwise have been much more interesting and perhaps important information after the honk. Was this due to some error on the owner's part or does the Tesla stop recording for a few seconds while it "saves" the pre-honk video, or is it a matter of media speed on the usb drive?
If you are are going to draft (not drift) behind a truck, it is best to have a radio and ask the driver if he mods you doing that.
Andy - I noticed a radar detector installed in your tesla, could you share the brand of the mount? I am using the mount that came with the radar but it is not good at all (one of these that you attached to the windshield). Thanks!😊
Are you asking him so you know what products to avoid, since much of his advice is generally shit?
Dunno why regen braking blend still unavailable for us in EU... the icon is there but no settings.
I think you meant Drafting...
oops I'm an idiot haha
@@aslye 😂 Lots of other great info in the Video!! Thank you!
23:30 do you think the recent tesla over air update autopilot "recall" might ruin this?
Ruled out taking Amber Heard... I watch all of your videos, and I've never laughed so hard.😂
Higher PSI (tire pressure) primarily means worse breaking == higher probability of a crash.
I didn't know about the secret auto park trick, thanks! There are actually 6 ways to open the charge port, you forgot using the charging page on the display. I hate that the blindspot camera view is useless at night, due to the internal blinker light bleed which is a known issue with the early Model 3's. Tesla fixed it on the newer vehicles and won't replace the side repeater cameras for older cars, for free. One note about drafting (yes it's called drafting, not drifting), behind a Semi....it's illegal and dangerous.
Did you get a different radar detector, because I thought you had a battery operated one and from I can see the one in this video looks like it has a power cord. How did you mount it?
Riding behind a semi is dangerous? That’s a new one. Never heard of that.
@@guttagutta420 Then clearly you didn't pay attention at drivers training. The trucks can't see you and you won't be able to stop in time in they suddenly stop. Not to mention that their tires can throw up rocks onto your vehicle and that it's illegal to be tailgating.
@@Resist4 A semi trucks stopping path is significantly longer than that of a Tesla, even if you yourself are not paying attention to the truck the car will literarily brake for you. The odds of you rear ending a semi are ridiculously low if you have any form of brain capacity or have forward collision enabled. Tailgating is indeed illegal however there is no problem in following a semi truck at a reasonable distance.
@@thedroneguy6914 Following a Semi at at reasonable distance is then not drafting and you get no mileage benefit from it. And you actually might get worse mileage as the airflow converges at a point way behind the truck. As far as a Tesla braking for you goes, unless you are in Autopilot/FSD the car may or may not brake, as there have been many instances where it failed to brake and doesn't always work as designed to.
@@Resist4 You're basing your idea of theoretical and completely dismissing my initial argument that a tesla brakes faster than a semi, therefore even if you are within a reaction time period of braking and are paying attention there is no way to rear end the semi. Drafting however, has its effects even at a distance of 100 feet, you're welcome to look this up as it's been proven time and time again. Sure you may also say that the emergency braking won't do anything however if you're intentionally drafting, paying attention and keeping a safe following speed you will see the effects of drafting a semi in your efficiency at basically 0 serious risk.
how you do use the wipers lol does it shoot water
I'm in nl on 2023.6.11 and I still don't have the option to apply brakes when regen breaking is limited 😢
I’m still confused about the battery charging. I have a 2021 standard range model 3. My screen says daily and trip so do I only charge to 80? I’m just not understanding 100%
What is that round thing sticking out of the left of the screen, is it an air freshener or mic?
I like the camera holder next to dashboard.. can you share the link for that
I use this one now and I love it geni.us/xaowi
To responders here saying that inflating tires (when cold) to the maximum rating on the sidewall, then driving, will raise the pressure beyond that number, yes that's true. But to then say it will cause the tire to fail, no. That rating is for the COLD tire pressure, and the tire manufacturers understand that the tire will heat up when driven on, and the rated number takes that into consideration. This is a separate concern from whether using that maximum sidewall pressure is appropriate for the vehicle and driving conditions in question. As with most reliability-versus-performance matters, there are compromises and tradeoffs. Certainly the ride will be stiffer with more-than-recommended pressure. And there's the potential for more tread wear near the center of the tread. Braking performance could be slightly reduced due to a marginally smaller contact patch. Upsides include a stiffer sidewall and thus improved dynamic steering response, and reduced rolling resistance due to less tire deformation at the contact patch. Also less 'tire folding under wheel' (not staying as square to the ground) during high lateral loads.
Here is a reputable source that pins down the COLD part of what that maximum sidewall pressure rating means: www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/how-do-i-check-my-tire-specs . The relevant sentence is partway down the page: "A tire's maximum inflation pressure is the highest 'cold' inflation pressure that the tire is designed to contain." Note that the primary cause of tire failure is underinflation, not overinflation: www.slashgear.com/847809/what-really-happens-when-a-car-tire-fails/
I have one more method to opening the charge port. Just say the voice command “open butthole” and it works
another that was not mentioning was touching the charge port on the car image on the screen.
Is there a way to turn off 1 side of climate control (closing the air vents)?
My wife doesn’t want A/C blowing on her side, but I need it for myself.
No, there is not a way to do that. However you can purchase 3D printed devices that you can place in the vent to block the air from blowing on the person that does not want to feel it.
Sadly no, at least not in my 2018 Model 3. Best option I've found is to split the air stream from the vents using two fingers, as Andy showed in this video.
No it's dumb that we cannot do that.
If you split the temperature can you turn the fan speed down super low?
@@christopherjones837 even when temp is split the two sides share one fan speed setting.
What tank is that at 23:41 and where is that?
The auto park feature doesn’t work for my model 3. Do you have to have FSD for this option?
EAP or FSD
Does anyone know where the navigation system gets the speed limits from? Does that feature require any upgrade or monthly fee?
I think it’s google maps
You should have mentioned that the autopark feature is only for FSD owners.
Also included in Enhanced Autopilot. Sorry about that!
@@aslye no problem, I enjoyed the video. As a new Tesla RUclipsr myself, I make mistakes all the time 😁
