I am looking at a Model Y Plus vs Motel 3 for 2024. I will be renting a Model Y and a Model 3 to see which one fits our needs best. I have test driven both of these Performance models, they are amazing. As I continue my journey towards my order date, delivery date, and ownership date, I enjoy watching YOUTube so I can learn from other peoples experiences. I thank you Matt for the information that you give in creating your videos. Today I ordered the 1T SD Card from Amazon. However, I do not see "links" on my screen that connects me to the items that you mention. Perhaps if you "List" the names of the items in you description. Once again, Thank you for everything you do !!!

Nor will it send a notification to your phone because again the car thinks your phone unlocked the car normally. And once the car is unlocked via phone, it doesn't need to be in the car to drive off. As long as they don't put the car back into park, they can take it where ever. Including a chop shop for your Tesla parts. This is why I recommend Tesla owners juat buy the Key Fob and keep the Key Card in their wallet as backup. Plus it is just more convenient at doing basic things like opening the Frunk and Trunk as im walking up to the car. I know you cam do this in the app too. Thank you for all the tips. I take delivery of my new Tesla lr y next week. Red with white interior. I’ve listened to hours of RUclips and feel confident to drive it the 30 miles home. Eager to be a Tesla owner.
I get my Tesla in a couple of days. This video made me home sick because I now live in North Carolina and was very excited when I seen the Batman building in the beginning of this video. Nashville is home 😊
Received a Y 2 weeks ago. It had a 1772 adaptor but no charging cables. The car's technology is a learning experience: we're both 75 years old and technology is a challenge. We got mats and a trunk organizer. Tesla directions are not as good as Google maps. We don't know how to deal with a flat tire. We recently had a Tesla wall connector installed in our driveway.
Unfortunately your outta luck with a flat the car will have to be towed only to Tesla Dealer to repair it cost 100 bucks minimum or buy a new one for alot more
These are formula 1 tires due to the ridiculous power of the battery at acceleration. The ICE people usually cannot comprehend this concept. So, roughly $500 per tire.
@@rebel6677 I just ordered a model y performance on the 15th, awaiting delivery, I’m hoping i don’t regret this purchase. I’m just worried, I’m planning on trading in in about 2 years for a model x plaid.
The Wall Charger does not require a 60a breaker. I have an old house that only supports 48a, and my electrician had no issues installing it. He also only charged me around $460 and connected an additional outlet near it in case I wanted to use the Mobile Charger.
The wall charger can charge up to 48a continuous(This requires a 60 amp breaker with 4 gauge conductors). It ultimately depends on your setup(i.e. is this a short/long run) and what conductors you use. EV charging is considered continuous load. In a nutshell, anything that is considered continuous load assumes 80% of max amp available and conductors should be sized appropriately to accommodate that. You can certainly set a lower charging speed in the app if your setup doesn't allow for it.
@cpzchillthis you're completely correct except for the awg size. For 60amp breaker a size of 6awg is sufficient for 80%. 6awg is rated for 75A which is the proper rating. 4awg is a waste
Your install must have been very easy for it to be that low. I just got quoted $1800 for a rather annoying install because my main panel is on the second floor on the opposite end of the house from where the wall charger will be. Oof. In hindsight, I should have opted to have a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 50a breaker installed when the house was built. I opted against it at the time, as we didn’t have an EV then and the builder was charging $1000 for it, which I thought was a bit of a ripoff given how simple it would have been to install before the walls were up and when all the other wiring was going in. Little did I know…
@@kevinsosa1589 That is true ONLY if the installation of the 6awg wire has a 75°C rating. That is based on a combination of the actual wire/cable used, conduit, etc. if you use 60°C wire, you're only good to 55 amps which would be illegal and potentially dangerous with a 60 amp breaker.
If you drive little, keep your battery between 40-60%, this will almost rule out battery degradation. Recharge it even every day if you are satisfied with these 20% every day. Only when you go further, charge to 100%, but a few moments before departure. If you need to charge earlier and you can't leave right away, charge to 80%. Don't go below 20%. Doing so will give you hundreds of thousands of miles of mileage with minimal degradation. And one more thing, top up the car once every 3-6 months, even if you don't need it, so that it remembers how much its maximum is. :))) greetings
@@FrenchyTube3 as someone considering a model Y and making a list of pros and cons, most new ICE really shouldn’t need any maintenance in first 4 years other than oil once a year. Can you trade your vehicle in to a dealership without purchasing a new vehicle from them? @@teddyherrera727 hi! on further research that depends on your state. here in the great communist workers paradise of hawaii the lemon law has some real teeth and trumps anything. not so much in california where i got this advice from.
One thing that annoys me a bit about the premium connectivity. I already pay for Spotify, Netflix, RUclips premium and Disney etc, I already pay for data on my phone plan. What does premium connectivity give me that I don't already pay for? Perhaps I don't understand how it works.. Can someone please explain this?
Not a Tesla owner, but I thought the main thing you’re paying for is the wireless plan for the car to be able to connect to services such as live traffic, internet, Netflix, etc. if your phone has an unlimited plan, then you should be able to connect the car to your phone’s WiFi hotspot.
bottomline, it will cost lot more than you would think to own one. Many just think about saving on gas. There are other factors such as high insurance, registration/renewal tags, maintenance (tires, windshield) and all these additional accessories that will add up. So if you are on budget then its not the car (EV) for you. Cheers!
Great points, I addressed 8 hidden costs of owning a Tesla in this video: ruclips.net/video/fSt-IMPPKlk/видео.html But even with these “hidden” costs, it’s still cheaper to own and operate a Tesla than a similar gas vehicle with similar specs in terms of price, horsepower, etc
I mean isn't that the same with every car? If you buy a cheaper car, you still have maintenance and all the things that you mentioned. Insurance could be potentially high depending on your location and driving history, car registration/renewal, similar maintenance and more because of things like oil change, engine air filter, cabin filter, etc...
On the flip side, you don’t have to worry about your transmission dropping or a bad timing chain. I’ve experienced both with a Cadillac and Buick and had to dump both of them at a loss.
I got a Model3 as the Y is a bit big for my 5 ft frame. Coming from a Lexus I feel the car is shaking while going above 60m/h. I had a Lexus hybrid and never felt anything but a smooth ride while accelerating. Is this common for Tesla?
Where is the owner's manual?? Is it possible to turn off the screen while I'm in the car, and can I turn off the car if I'm just sitting in it? I got my Model Y yesterday and am on a learning curve.
10:18 "... also helps block out harmfull UV rays ..." - This is completely untrue. Any current autoglass completely blocks UV light. That is why transition lenses do not darken when you are in your car.
Just one question: The navigation-maps function you show in this video. Is that part of the Premium subscription for it to work? Thanks for the video and tips for the vehicle. Take care.
Navigation works without the premium connectivity subscription. The way the map looks is different though. Just the basic map as opposed to the satellite Google Maps
@@TopTrollin what, really? Is the premium connectivity only to be purchased if you don't have internet access? Are all the premium options available if you just use your phone wifi??
Sadly, I just did this on my 2 week old YP. There is a company called MagBak that has plastic covers that go over the wheels that stick on the rims. They cost $300 for the set of 4, but you can also get an extra set with it- just in case- for like $40 more. I am kicking myself now for not ordering those when I ordered my interior roof cover and all weather floor mats.
&00km range is a lie - 200km is realistic in colder climates and only 360km in perfect conditions. HOW? If you cannot charge the battery to 100%, the claimed range of these cars are effectively a lie. If you have to keep within 20-80%, this means you have only 60% of the battery available - meaning a claimed range of 600km (in warm weather only!) is actually only 360km in perfect conditions and only about 200km in a cold climate (everyone knows that Tesla batteries are some of the worst performing batteries in cold weather). The final result: you only get 33% of the claimed range in cold climates.
yes and no. ur still *capable* of pushing ur battery from 100% to 0% and technically even further since there is reserve emergency power. but it's simply not recommended to do it regularly. if ur daily commute fits within the 20-80% this makes it easy to stayed powered at home. if ur going on a longer trip its best to allow the battery to charge up to 100% and u can push that all the way down to 0 as long as u plan to find a charger by then. keep in mind as long as ur battery isnt sitting below 20 (parked for over a day) then bring it to 0 and charging immediately will minimize any wear to ur battery.

You also mention things you cover in other videos, maybe every time you talk about anything you cover more in depth in another video you can say, "if you want to learn more about the charging, click the link in the corner and you can see a in depth video about how charging works with Tesla" or whatever... "In this video I will show you 20 tips and tricks Tesla owners need to know before ordering their car. As you watch please comment below and tell me your favorite tip/trick is?" Or something idk that's not good but I have an issue doing this myself. I tell a story, then mention the video. Not a Tesla owner, but I thought the main thing you’re paying for is the wireless plan for the car to be able to connect to services such as live traffic, internet, Netflix, etc. if your phone has an unlimited plan, then you should be able to connect the car to your phone’s WiFi hotspot.
Great tips!
Thank you
how do i know if i have lfp battery. I pick up 2024 MYLR today
Is your car the red they offer on the website?
Mine is the multi-coat red. They no longer offer that and have replaced it with the ultra red
Great video Matt
Thank you
Talk about making owning a car a living hell. Yeez just pick up the car and drive.
I was sitting in my car, idling, and after 20 minutes or so, it turned off. Is this normal? I just picked it up yesterday
Yes that’s normal.
bottomline, it will cost lot more than you would think to own one. Many just think about saving on gas. There are other factors such as high insurance, registration/renewal tags, maintenance (tires, windshield) and all these additional accessories that will add up. So if you are on budget then its not the car (EV) for you. Cheers!
Great points, I addressed 8 hidden costs of owning a Tesla in this video: ruclips.net/video/fSt-IMPPKlk/видео.html
But even with these “hidden” costs, it’s still cheaper to own and operate a Tesla than a similar gas vehicle with similar specs in terms of price, horsepower, etc
Dead wrong on that!
@@tomwest2413 which comment is dead wrong?
I got a Model3 as the Y is a bit big for my 5 ft frame. Coming from a Lexus I feel the car is shaking while going above 60m/h. I had a Lexus hybrid and never felt anything but a smooth ride while accelerating. Is this common for Tesla?
Unbalanced wheels.
I think that you have up to 4 years to have most of these things addressed under warranty.
Where is the owner's manual?? Is it possible to turn off the screen while I'm in the car, and can I turn off the car if I'm just sitting in it? I got my Model Y yesterday and am on a learning curve.
You can turn off the screen in settings!
Tesla's training video says you should charge to 100% and as often as possible.
It’s only recommended to charge to 100% if your car has the LFP batteries.
How do you check for this battery.
If I pay $12000 for full self driving, do I still have to pay for premium connectivity?
Yes they’re separate
It’s 8,000 now
@@froyo9674 I saw that, or 100 a month. Very nice.
Century mode ?😮
I’m waiting to get approved. It’s been 6 days now🙄
I’ve been waiting almost two weeks for delivery 😢
Great video.. do you recommended to buy Tesla if they don’t have level 2 charging facility at home? Level 1 charging is like 3 miles per hour..
It's not very hard to get level 2 in your home. Quite simple
10:18 "... also helps block out harmfull UV rays ..." - This is completely untrue. Any current autoglass completely blocks UV light. That is why transition lenses do not darken when you are in your car.
So, 50K car still requires monthly fee to have map(proper navigation) and i cannot use my phone instead? it is bit a fat deal.
Use data tethering or hot spot from your phone. Don’t waste money.
@@TopTrollin what, really? Is the premium connectivity only to be purchased if you don't have internet access? Are all the premium options available if you just use your phone wifi??
@@bastianm5478 from what I have gathered so far yeah
Can Tesla use the premium connectivity to update the car, as we don't have WiFi. Or connect to the data on the phone.
Use Bluetooth on your phone.
@@silentmajority5657 Will it work though Bluetooth or do you need to set your phone as a hotspot?
I just bought Tesla Model Y Long Range 2023. Does the USB drive comes with the car?
Yes
"Congratulations on taking the plunge into tesla ownership"
Me watching this while not being able to afford a tesla for several years: Thanks
If you are a Striking Hollywood Writer begging for your Job you still owe those Tesla Payments 😉
What city you live in?
Would seats covers void the warranty?
I feel like everything on this video is common sense but the world lacks a lot of that these days.
After two years of ownership, have you ever curbed the Uberturbine wheels?
Sadly, I just did this on my 2 week old YP.
There is a company called MagBak that has plastic covers that go over the wheels that stick on the rims. They cost $300 for the set of 4, but you can also get an extra set with it- just in case- for like $40 more.
I am kicking myself now for not ordering those when I ordered my interior roof cover and all weather floor mats.
@@bscar thanks. I’ll be ordering some before I get my M3P
@@DRWP10 spread the word, I'm sure there's loads of folks out there that would love to know those things exist
@@bscarDamn, sorry to hear. I heard there are companies out there that repair the rash on uberturbines for $50-$100, depending on severity.
@@bscar Unless you REALLY effed it up, the MagBaks will cover the damage and you'll never know it was there.
Oh and Do not forget Canadian winter.
Right away a 3200$ Bill is waiting for you !

Lots of WHAT you need to do, but very little HOW to do it. Nice intro, however.
APRIL FOOLS 🤗
Don't understand. What's the joke?
@@LouDeVere the joke is this video. Makes the new owner think they need all this bullshit
Soo we buy a car for a range amount...that we will never get because we can't charge it to 100 or let it drop below 20....rip off
Thank you Matt
Pretty thin Dan sorry. Indian brand owner, and get a car guy on. Come on quality content please not just go woke to go broke bashing ( very worthwhile of course ). I took delivery of a new tesla today , GG Elon !
Step 22: cancel your order, grow some balls, and buy a gas car
Lol... Go Green
My other car is a C7 Zo6…..😅😅😅
WTF do I know tell me to STFU but when you ask for the like and subscribe, I would mention that you make lots of videos about Tesla Ownership and if you own or are thinking about owning a Tesla, subscribing would be a good idea. Or, "if you have learned something, show your support by hitting the like button, and if you are a new Tesla owner or thinking about owning a Tesla, subscribing would be a good idea as all I do is make Tesla videos helping teach people about the ins and outs of Teslas" idk...
You also mention things you cover in other videos, maybe every time you talk about anything you cover more in depth in another video you can say, "if you want to learn more about the charging, click the link in the corner and you can see a in depth video about how charging works with Tesla" or whatever...
This is my like 5th video of yours and I am subbing now because I recognize your channel, but I would have earlier if I knew you had so much new Tesla Ownership info as I bought my first Tesla yesterday and I wanna gobble up all the info I can.
Just a thought...
Also... Dumb again sorry, the first 10 seconds of the video, tell me what I am watching, and challenge me. "In this video I will show you 20 tips and tricks Tesla owners need to know before ordering their car. As you watch please comment below and tell me your favorite tip/trick is?" Or something idk that's not good but I have an issue doing this myself. I tell a story, then mention the video. That's what you do, 20 seconds of story, then you say what the video is which takes 5 seconds. If you flip that I bet your conversion goes up
Idk... I don't YT anymore but I am surrounded by people who do it. Hope it helps, your chAnnel is good. 100k is just around the corner I feel.
Good luck and I am binging your channel now :)

Ahhh, 7:30, a video reference, mah boi The affiliate links in the description is a nice plug. I will use them btw :)
