  • If you're learning how to do a pole handstand, this video will help you feel stronger in your handstands and provide you with some handy tips to help you step-by-step.
I spent months trying to deadlift into a pole handstand on the pole. However, once I learnt the steps to build you towards your deadlift handstand, it came much quicker!
Here are my top three pole handstand tips:
1 - WORK ON DIFFERENT HANDSTAND ENTRIES
If you're struggling with one type of handstand entry, feel free to try some others... You might want to try a bunny hop entry, a controlled kick entry, or a deadlift
2 - GET RID OF THE HANDSTAND FEAR
Lots of pole dancers (and people in general) are scared of training handstands, because of the fear of falling awkwardly out of the handstand. Once you get comfortable with your exits from the pole handstand position you're working on, you'll be able to control an over-balance and land gracefully.
A good example of this is the over-balance from the kick into a handstand as shown in the video. You just exit with a walk-over. Remove the unknown, and the fear will disappear too!
3 - USE YOUR WHOLE BODY FOR STABILITY AND CONTROL
Although your handstand looks like a static position, there's a lot going on from top-to-bottom, to keep you stable. Keep your core tight, squeeze your thighs together, pull with your top arm on the pole, and use your fingertips on the floor to provide fine-tuning for your body position.
Good luck with training your pole handstand.
    Much pole love.
