  • Every bull gets his day, and today is that day! We finish sorting the Dexter cattle for breeding season and release the bulls, who go right to work! Later, I cut our last hay of the season and reflect on the seasonal changes on our farm.

I’m from Alabama and when I was coming up you were right around and see cows on the feels and grazing now the world is so different a lot of the farm is that we used to pass by the farm farm is that we pass but I no longer operating there was a sadness. I am so eternally grateful to watch your program I watch it over and over and over again just to see you explain the different techniques and to show us your love for your cattle as well as you and your wife and children producing quality meats. It is December here And I don’t know when you were ever serious but hopefully your operation will be still coming on because the world is different I retired and now all I have to do is watch your programs and for a brief moment escape the world.

We just had a pretty good small farm success story where I live, A new Farm opened up up selling pasteurized (not homogenized) milk in glass bottles as well as cheese and beef, they raise Jersey cows. Its probably some of the best milk Ive had and they cant keep it in stock people love it so much. Several local Restaurants also paired with them to supply cheese.

Every time I watch your videos, Pete,
I do have this wonderful, soulful emotion come over me, and I just sit there and let it sink in. It is a great feeling and I thank you for it!!❣️❣️
I enjoy and love your Videos made on RUclips. Recently, I was very disappointed when I made a comment responding to one of your videos… I believe it was he one where they were comparing you to a young female farmer in Nebraska and they wanted us to vote. Evidently, I had a lot to say about you and Hillary and it WOULD NOT SEND!!!! So I cut half of it off and saved it to my notes and when I came back the entire thing was gone and I could not retrieve it no matter what I did and I was very frustrated with RUclips. They never let you know in advance when your comments are getting too long. And if they have a limit why don’t they tell you so for example if they don’t want you to have more than 100 words why aren’t you told that somewhere in the rules, Then, if you are approaching Close to that number, then some type of warning needs to show up in RED, or some thing you can’t ignore, so that you can stop and erase or finish your sentence Within 15 or 20 word-ll limit you are left. I don’t know if those of you who have websites can make that suggestion but as someone who likes to make comments frequently, I do get frustrated when this happens to me and it happens more often than not😂😂😂😂😂❣️❣️

Those hard chores don't look so hard from our side of the lens, you make them look fun and easy. We're looking forward to the cooler weather of fall and winter, maybe we'll even get snow this year, we can always hope. California has temperamental seasons, you might call them autumn, fall and spring, then summer, with summer lasting around six months of the year, or more. Have fun at Market, Hillary.

Perhaps a future episode might be an overview of how making hay was this past summer taking into account heat, humidity, rain, farm issues you and Hilary had to deal with, will you have to buy hay this winter and, are you critical of the quality of hay you do buy for the cows? Being a city person, it isn't always easy to embrace the whole of each endeavor you take on. I am happy to ride with you in the hay making process. I like what watching your videos does to my world view. xo Claire
