  • another one of our myth busting videos because there's just so many myths in fishing.. or are there....
i know if you've been on any fishing pages or forums you've seen the question asked do fish attractants work or which ones do you use..
you always get that one guy that jumps in with just use WD40 i've been using it for years...
well i've always wandered if that guy was actually using it sniffing it or just full of it...
so today was the day i set out to bust several myths in fishing..this one bananas in the boat and sunscreen making fish stop biting.. well check out the other mythbuster videos to find out how those turned out..
as for this myth i have to admit once i put on the WD-40 the bite seemed to shut off... but it also shut off for bonsai guy fishing in the back with an actual fish attracting spray on his bait..
so i kept reapplying the wd here and there and then it happened i caught a fish.. wasn't a bass but a fish.. then it happened again.. no bass but the bluegill and green eared sunfish or panfish in general didn't seem to be bothered by the wd40.. i can't say if it actually attracted them but i did catch one right after spraying the bait again with it..
then i finally caught a bass and figured i'd put a wrap on the video..
as bad as the wd-40 smells to me and no more fish than i caught in the short time using it i won't be using it again... did it help.. i don't think so.. did it hurt.. i honestly don't think so either.. i don't think the fish were taking time to smell the roses so to speak they were just hitting the bait when it got in front of their face...
you'll have to check out the sunscreen mythbuster edition to see what i'm talking about but don't be worried if you get something smelly on your bait or if you don't have a fish attractant to spray on.. i don't think it matters
feel free to comment on whether or not you believe in fish smelling their food before eating it or not..
i do agree that there may be something to salt in that once they bite something it makes them hold on longer but i may have to test that out to at some point...
    thanks for watching ...
