I love the straightforward marketing Capcom does with games like Monster Hunter and Dragon’s Dogma. Let the game speak for itself! Nothing flashy.
Agreed! I wish more companies would just show the game off instead of all the deceptive marketing!
Sadly, DD2 was fairly deceptive. The marketing focused a large part of the story on the Fake Sovran and Queen Regent, who ended up being minor antagonists in terms of how much you actually engaged with them. Battahl was cool, but it wasn't good enough to make up for the lackluster story in Vermund + the extremely disappointing Post Game. The gameplay holds up, but there are few bosses worth fighting. The interesting ones only show up like once and never again lol
@nebulous9280 fully agree. I enjoyed the combat well enough, but even still bosses felt like they were lacking. And the story too like you said.

@@Ostrid1 it gets fun when you use wide range and just buff the ever living daylight out of teammates. Then they can just keep fighting and I heal them. And in turn I take no damage and roll away with evade extender. It's so dirty 😂

@@xavierbroadway8129my guess is that it’s the way you block pin attacks in Wilds, assuming that attack Doshaguma is using is a pin attack

Insect glaive is still viable in Rise. Very excited for another Insect glaive nerfed to the ground.

Let's be honest, TCS could miss a training dummy... BUT...
let's also be fair to my GS friends - if you ARE missing the training dummy, it's probably 'cause you're so trained on leading your monsters you expect the dummy to leap 20 feet to the right to pounce, making you lead a stationary target by force of habit. You guys rule 😀

I can't wait for the lance and hunting horn. Also, I really like the sound effects on the impact of the weapons hitting the monster's hide. It's an improvement over Rise/sunbreak.

0:13 they must have turned off the player's hitbox to show off the lvl 3 charge. Didn't want to show new players that you get bodied going for those like that
Just looks like the monster was a bit short. Maybe hitboxes are way tighter? Would be nice
I wonder if they're incorporating the unbreakable charges from Dragon's Dogma (I've only played the second game) into Wilds; not for all attacks, of course, but smaller ones like what was shown here. Almost like a built-in Flinch Free effect on the weapon's moveset.

@putyograsseson yeah lol. Just got Dragon's Dogma 2 on the brain since the combat was designed by the person/team, who also did the DMC5 combat.
Nah, that's just a really small looking attack. GS has some Hyper Armor when charging, so it's just that.
Stuff like that happens a lot in World and Rise.

From all the released vids so far, the greatsword has deffinitely received the most love. Looks so damn good.
Eh, it really hasn't been changed at all tbh. The only real new move we've seen is the uppercut counter. Everything else is standard GS, or standard for all weapons in Wilds. (Things like clashes, sneak attacks and focus attacks.)
@@Lakita2880 maybe, but it looks really cool. Especially with focus mode allowing turning during charge.
@@_Unlived_ Oh 100% as a GS main it's still gonna be great especially with focus mode.
I'm just sad we haven't really gotten anything new. Meanwhile the other weapons have gotten multiple completely new moves, and updated combos.
@@Lakita2880 oh yeah no that fair. Longsword mains fr got 2 entire new movesets plus extra moves but nerfed the satjsfying hitlag. As a CB main I get how you feel since they only changed like 2 moves in the showcase, but as an ex LS main any weapon that gets a parry counter move becomes infinitely more fun
Not gonna lie, I thought they were gonna speed it up a little for the more fluid games, but I'm glad to see the weapon is still as is & viable.
I'm glad they didn't. This isn't anime where someone can swing a bit as sword like a twig.
Wilds is more like a sequel to World so we shouldn't expect the fluidity and speed of Rise imo
@@geneticjen9312 Being honest Greatsword's base moveset in Rise really wasn't a super fast increase in speed over World's GS

GS seems to be the few weapons that are basically the same aside from the new focus attacks. Everything else seems to have drastically changed. Looking forward to seeing my main showcased eventually
You can't improve on perfection. Jokes aside, aiming in focuse mode with greatsword is a HUGE change

Sound effects, visuals and movement all look really great so far. I'm slightly concerned/disappointed with the hit effects though. No blood and we have the pebble/dust particles instead which looks pretty weird. I'd much prefer if there was at least some blood so i hope its an option in the settings. I figured since they were back in risebreak theyd be in wilds too but seems unlikely now

Though I feel like the effects could use some oompfh, the MHGU effects are so over the top and I love them, even world has clear and juicy slashes going across your screen. Though in terms of clarity I imagine the hc players prefer this approach. Small dust particles yay~

They did a FANTASTIC job of revamping this weapon! No longer does it feel slow and inconvenient. It feels varied and responsive enough to use this weapon tactically now!
