    One thing that would be very interesting if there would be more advanced routing features to come maybe with later firmware updates. I see in the video that you already have a discrete channel for voice chat etc. but maybe this could be also be made extendable so that i could split up audio sources on the pc and have for example Spotify, Voice Chat, PC Sound and also Game Sounds on different lines.

  • @MrEcock
    @MrEcock 2 года назад +6

    One thing I can't find out, and would be a make-or-break feature.
    For streaming, when connecting game audio to one channel and the chat audio in another channel, currently on the Rodecaster Pro there is no way to mix-minus the game audio from the people connected on the chat audio channel.
    Is there going to be more advance mix-minus features in the Rodecaster Pro II that would allow me to choose what outputs are being sent down each channel, so that the people on the other ends of the chat channel only hear Mic 1 and not the Game audio?

    Finally the update is here. I got me a Tascam Mixcast4 because of some very minor advantages over the RCP, but now all that is gone, I'll be getting the II immediately. So many great features, the one killing option is linking inputs into a stereo "one fader" operation. This is ideal for my matched pair of Oktava MK-012 condensers used in front of an acoustic guitar while livestreaming. The vocals are handled by Røde VideoMic NTG, I think I'll be set. Looks great but a real shame that the stereo TRRS input has been omitted or not replaced by 2 extra physical input channels. Having to use half of the 4 available Neutrik inputs to connect a stereo line-in source drastically reduces functionality / mic options etc. The provision of an additional 2 physical channels or retention of a stereo TRRS would have avoided this.

    Hi. One question...
    What about the latency?
    As a music device, with line inputs, we expect low latency while using a DAW, in order to use it as an audio interface and not only streaming device. Is it possible?

    • @KurtisB

    • @Saimsboy

      @@KurtisB Yup, but you are talking about direct monitoring. Remember that in order to do multitrack in a DAW software, we must install the Asio4all driver, and then the RODE Asio.

      As a person who was a sound engineer in a Podcast Firm which is using Rodecaster Pro, the preamps and built-in effects etc. are definitely not good enough for a professional tasks. I am also a bedroom musician and I'm using the zoom h6 both for podcast and music records. Extremely cleaner preamps and no latency and fantastic XY mic. Also I'm using it for short movies, documentaries, commercials.... Because it is portable and beast! You can use it as a multi-channel audio interface up to 6 channels without any driver.
      I think, Rodecaster's are made to be easy to use. I think musicians and sound staffs are not the target audiences.
      I have 3 different Rodecaster Pro and I'm using the Podcaster, Podmic, Shure Mics, AKG C314, Rode NTG 3, Sennheiser Booms but there is a lot of noise in all of them. Especially with Rode mics... So, I'm carrying my Zoom H6 to everywhere, rather than using one of my Rodecaster because of the huge audio quality difference.

    The only thing that would stop me from buying this is the limitations surrounding virtual inputs... i use a GOXLR currently for live streams and would love to have multiple XLR inputs, but if everything funnels into a single audio output from the computer, that would be a big change.

  • @RadicalElder
    @RadicalElder 2 года назад

    My question is about monitoring. I swapped from a GoXLR to the Wave semi recently as the Wave allowed me to turn DOWN the music I hear but leave it on for the stream output. I don't want to turn the music completely off but in my experience, if I get everything right the music is too loud for me when it's perfect for stream. Too many headaches ... or no audible music. With Wave I have this set like 30% apart and it works like a dream. I'll get one of the first RCP2s if I can change the monitoring levels and I'll probably stick with the Wave for now if I can't.

    This is an amazing update.
    Whilst this is brilliant for podcasting and all sorts I would like to see something like a Rodecaster Pro Max for radio broadcasting. Obviously you can do this with the existing Rodecaster Pro but radios typically have other sources such as turntables and CD players.
    If you made a 10 fader version of this with 4 stereo phono inputs aswell it would be perfect.
    In addition it would be awesome if the usb supported more than 2 in. Radio software allows you to send jingles to one channel, pre fade to another, so 8 or 10 in would be brilliant.
    There is very little catering for the radio broadcast market at the moment that comes even near the features of the Rodecaster Pro so a Max version with the features above would kill it for community radio, even some DJs too.

    That thing looks great! I hope it will integrate with my Blackmagic Design ATEM family video tools :-D. Then we truly have a high quality studio in a backpack. Just blink twice if Australia will take over the streaming media industry. 😊🙃😉

      The RØDECaster Pro II can be powered by a USB power bank for use literally anywhere. You just need a USB-C power bank capable of 30W USB-C PD (15V, 2A).

      @nickqtv 2 года назад

      @@rodemic I just think a built in battery would be more convenient. The less wires the better when truly trying to work literally anywhere

    • @samfraulino

      Powered by a USB bank is better than an external battery, you are at least in control of that for years to come vs having a battery go bad inside the unit.

    finally an EQ! the one thing missing from the original, and it was almost enough to make me return it, but i couldn't wait for shipping on a replacement at the time. i have to run everything through my old console to have EQ, and i got the RC1 to replace the old noisy console. I am still upset about it, and i hesitate every time i look at any other rode devices, thinking what industry standard item is going to be missing from this? I probably won't buy the RC2 because of my experience. i will instead spend nearly 3 times the money for a full sized programable and routable console. i might change my mind if i get an eq on the RC1 via a firmware update. but no promises. I also need twice as many channels as this provides inputs for, so thats a challenge.

  • @thatdanhill
    @thatdanhill 2 года назад +1

    A thought - provide more inputs into the console over USB. Would be super handy in an online radio setup where automation systems like to use multi channels, so instead of it being a 2i/16, perhaps make it 6i or 8i/16 Just opens up more flexibility, not only for radio, but streamers alike. :)

      That’s a great idea Dan, I wonder if they also could put in a live wire connection. Or to let you put the box on the net work looking like any other device per se. But let you route all kinds of audio in your studio through your consul for very little effort.

      The original RØDECaster Pro will still receive service and support like any other product, but it’s unlikely we’ll be pushing any more firmware updates.

    Question? How come you left out the trrs jack?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  2 года назад +1

      All of the functionality of the TRRS connection from the original RØDECaster Pro has been replaced by the two USB-C and ¼-inch TRS inputs.
      For example, you can connect both Android and iOS devices to the USB ports. Other devices can be connected to the TRS line inputs on the combo jacks.

    How many accessible sources can be addressed over a s ingle USB, I would prefer to be able to send 4 addressable sources over USB to assign to sliders for when I'm mixing audio for music videos and isolation.

    I wonder , for game streamers, if you have the ability to have sub mixes for stream output and a sub mix for your headphones.

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  2 года назад

      Not currently, but we’re definitely looking at this for a future firmware update.

    • @curtishustace
      @curtishustace 2 года назад

      Not sure if you can do this or not now,but can you add particular sources to sliders? For live streamers you need to be able to assign things like discord to a slider, music to another, etc. Also with regard to sub mixes it would be great for live streamers to have a mix for their headset and an audience mix. I have the original rodecaster but only use it for podcasts. It’s great don’t get me wrong. But I also live stream and the rodecaster sits idle. I use the beacn mix create for live streams. Thx!

    RODE if you are reading this. We would LOVE to have a profile for the RODE Wireless Go for when we plug it into on of the mic ports. Being that this is your Mic you could build the PERFECT premade profile for the power sound options like you did for the Podmic and others.

Do you have a suggestion for a solution? Is there a setting that we are overlooking? We had a Behringer mixer before, there were no problems. Thank you and best regards
