Fantastic video! I’m SUPER excited to plug in guitars and use Logic - thanks to the XLR Combo inputs!!! AND mount the RCP II on a VESA Mount - and off my desk!!!
Awesome video as well! Thanks so much for doing this one, massively helpful! So from what it looks like, the Rodecaster Pro II has two audio devices that show up on the main computer and one on the secondary computer? This Is a good start, but I really am hoping they'll add a few more in a firmware update. Most streamers who game need a channel for Discord, one for Spotify, and one for their desktop audio. All from one computer. So a few more would make this perfect! Either way though, it's a fantastic device and I really appreciate you doing these videos on it. Thanks so much!
I have no inside knowledge about this, but I have a feeling there's A LOT to come in future firmware updates. I think the focus right now is getting the thing launched and out there, and then just consistently updating it afterwards (basically giving the competition no time to breathe).
Amazing value you are putting out Tom. Thanks you so much. If, by any chance 😊 you are talking to the rode people, maybe there is a chance bringing up the internal loopback functions, to send different mixes to different stream locations internally. Basically just a matter of internal routing. Since RCP2 has enough processing power, it might not be too hard to integrate this. Additional functionality like this kind of routing would open up the market for streamers / (live) musicians even more for Rode. Presonus and Elgato have done it. I would hope this is on the Rode agenda for future firmware updates for this otherwise amazing unit. Thanks again for this great video Tom! 🙏
Rode said that they have a lot of regular feature and firmware updates planned for the future, so I’m sure we’ll see the streaming functionality really beefed up as time goes on.
I guess this was your "puncord" inside one and the same video, but hey, you're just inspired by this great new machine. I'm also impressed. Cool that you tested the guitar & bass in the previous video! And the "StereAuPaire"... here, I mean :-)
Tom, I really love your videos on the RCP 2. Additionally - it is the ONLY interface that I've heard that makes the Rode Procaster mic sound good. I recently switched from a Rode NT1 to a RE 20, and really, really wanted to like the Rode equivalent, but I've never heard the Procaster sounding in a way I really liked, until this video.
That's funny because the reason I got the PRocaster was after so many people recommended AND it sounded good every time I've heard it. But you're 100% correct- it does sound great on the RCPII, even with my faulty cable.
@@tombuck Must be personal taste on the Procaster, but maybe the RCP 2 makes everything sound good. At this point, my one mic setup doesn't need it - but being able to record AND be an interface at the same time is the killer feature I might decide I have $700 of need for.
Ok Buck keep them hits coming. Mahalo for keeping my anticipation occupied until my units show up 😹 Brah the Loudness adjustment is on point. LUFS that too
ok, ok...next time I'll watch your video...I'm gonna drink a shot every time you make a puns. However, don't think I'll make it to the end of the video.
One thing I like, the record button is no longer glowing like the OG RCP. Also, I foresee a video where you try to plug in as many mics (or other gear) into the two to.
Does the RCPII do the guitar input thingy that the Focusrite 2i2 can do? Where you plug up a guitar and your neighbors hear nothing, but you are actually recording in the computer?
I do love those vids Tom... My RCP I is enough for me fortunately (more so for my wallet). There is something to be said for the simplicity of the first version ;-). Although I would love to tinker with the RCP II i do not have an immediate need for it. But knowing me, eventually my GAS will kick in...
Gosh, that is a nice-sounding Mic! Who bugged you for what seemed like a century to get one? OH, great sound pads with Sound effects are another thing along with the puns to rag you about...Get good cable and save your HAIR - MOGAMI cables! Sure wish they would have added a Line Out option but as the headphone jack are much better I guess that will work. I wanted a 32-bit float recording option but at that price point not going to happen. NIce series of reviews/overviews Tom it sure has kept you busy...
Thanks Matt! I know 32 bit float is a popular request. I don't know enough on the technical side of things, but I wonder if that's something that could potentially be added (or enabled) with a future firmware update? I have a feeling they've kept a few things up their sleeves for later.
@@tombuck I'm betting there no way. To get 32 Bit float you have to have A/D processor that can handle them. 24bit audio is all you need so what 32-bit does is allow you to have the 24bit but with an insane amount of headroom. 24 bit gives you 144.5 DB of gain but has a loud source and your 'knobs' in the wrong place and you will clip and clipping can't be fixed. what 32-bits gives us is an insane 770 DB of gain so as long as your mic doesn't clip you will not clip PERIOD.
All it needs is a 3rd digital fader so i can control chat volume, game volume and browser volume for stream. also if there were digital sends so u can have different stream levels to your headphone mix. i just got it and it covers everything else i have been looking for in an interface
at 0:34 I see there are different rode connections (stream, system, virtual, chat and main). Are those inputs? Could you connect different computer audio sources to those inputs? For example discord out to "Stream", Chrome browser audio to "virtual", game audio to "stream", operating system audio to "system"? then can you assign those inputs to individual faders? I asked a very similar question on your previous video, but this video get much close to answering that question. This could be a very handy solution to daily use issues.
Some of those are form the Rode Connect app, which is different from the RCP. For now (as I understand it) you can send separate outputs to RCP Main and RCP Chat along with whatever is connected to USB 2.
@@tombuck that's not exactly what I'm asking. Imagine (on your mac mini) you want to send audio from different applications to different inputs on the RCPII. So put discord/zoom on a fader, put web browser audio on a fader, put game audio on a fader, put music (ex spotify) on a fader. Currently I'm solving that problem in windows using Asio Link Pro which works, but frankly isn't reliable. If you switch the RCPII to "multi" mode your computer should be able to see each separate ASIO channel. Can this be achieved? If a piece of hardware/software natively supported this it would be such a solution to so many headaches lol.
To me this is the question I would like to know also. Being most of the 14 channels are hard assigned I thought rode would use 2 virtual channels to use to send discord or web browsers. Great job showing all the rest of the great functions. 👍 I'm sure if the audio routing isn't there yet it will be soon.
THanks for the kind words! One thing I like about the RCP is the versatility in getting to choose if you want to record directly to it, or use it as an interface to record in an application (or both simultaneously) 👍
So, I was just wondering why you weren't featured in the initial RCP 2 announcement on YT... Me thinks you were one of the biggest contributors to all the new features. Just sayin' :)
Thanks for this informative video. Would you know if it allows to control music audio tracks added in the podcast in a form of a radio show with apps like GarageBand?
You can run GarageBand into one of the usb channels and control it that way for now. There’s also an update coming that will bring a lot of new routing options.
Love seeing the details Tom! Can you control the rodecaster from the PC? For example trigger mute from a DAW and the red mute button on the rodecaster changes? Maybe via MIDI?
So i understand that i can control with the "midi"settings all my other volume levels like game and music levels? i now use "power mixer" and a panorama P1 as a midi controler.
You're my go to for RCP content! Haha! Wait! So with the RCP2 we can plug it as a mic into our phones? So like for Instagram live or TikTok we can plug in the RCP2 and play music and sound effects? 🤔
Yes! You can do it with USB. If it's an iOS device, there is a specific Rode cable (SC19) that you'll need to use because Apple has certain requirements for something or other that won't work with a normal USB.
I am assuming hopefully you might do some individual videos once the Rodecaster Pro II is released and shipping and cover the different functionality options separately and more detailed? I have just pre-ordered the Rodecaster Pro II and looking forward to getting up and running with it once it ships.
There are a ton of features that I’m planning to cover separately, I’m just waiting for the official release firmware first. The beta has been great for me, but just in case there are changes I think it’s smart to wait for the official version.
Curious if you lose your files or if they get corrupted in any of these scenarios: - USB power cable gets disconnected while recording - USB hard drive is disconnected while recording. Does it have a battery built in to "close" the audio file so it doesn't just end up corrupted? Makes me nervous.
Hay man love the content, I’m seriously looking at this, how many channels are there back from the PC to the Rode for streaming setup like the GoXLR ? Is it split across 2 usb ?
Well that road catcher pro shoes sounds perfect for me I would love to see you do the sound effects kind of like the professional broadcast sound effects where they bring in the the title intro and the station identification special effects and all those in between weird special facts and music effects and all those things that they use on broadcast and shows I'd like to see how to use that too. I also thought you were freaking funny toward the Middle with all those weird effects making you sound like Chip and Dale and all those others I thought I was soiling myself or something like that but boy that sounds really good for music. By the way nice job on talking about it I would love to learn how to use it like a tutorial how to use everything and so I could do an outstanding podcast show. What I'd love to see them come out with a podcaster pro is a 16 channel and a 24 channel now for that reason it's like if you bring in a band or small orchestra you could use a lot of those mics for recording when you bring in a gas they're playing music like a band there's always a four band or seven Man band or even a miniature orchestra and you doing the guest show that would be cool for that too or a radio show that does mystery shows that's what I like to see them come out with with the same stuff. All in all great job do some more.
Thanks Joe! It would be great to see a giant console mixer type thing from Rode. I don't know if that's exactly in their wheelhouse, but it'd sure be fun (especially for something like drums where one instrument can take up many many tracks).
I'm super excited for this update (hope to do a review on my RUclips channel as well) - I'm surprised to hear that it's still microSD? again? I thought that would be the first to be changed. Either way it's fine - just annoying to have to keep track of adapters n such.
I think with dual USB-C a lot of people will use an external drive if they want to move it physically. And a micro SD can just permanently live in the rodecaster if you will transfer files off by network.
Super video Tom, including the jokes! I notice that the TRRS jack is no ,longer available on this new version. I use this a lot as an input for background music; is this what the second USB replaces?
Hey Tom, big fan of your videos and reviews from The Netherlands here. Just got two questions about the blue XLR cable. 1) What is the sound quality like? 2) I see it's 25 feet long, do you need that full length in your setup? If not, what do you do with the excess length? I'm asking this, because I recently bought a Sommer 5m blue XLR cable at Thomann, but even that one is too long and when I plug that into my Rodecaster Pro II and Shure SM7B, I hear some high frequency noise whenever I speak into the mike. At first I thought that curling th excess length into a coil was delivering this weird noises, but I do think that it's a cable thing. But I really need just 2.5m, and then a 25 feet (7.5m) cable seems a bit long, but if the quality is solid, I might be tempted. Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work, Chris
So when using the SSD, does the Rodecaster just create a new folder each time it’s used? Also is it possible to create separate mixes to send to each headphone output in logic or is it a shared mix?
I don't do anything fancy besides dropping the files into Final Cut Pro. I usually just sync them manually but I do have a video about a simpler ay here: ruclips.net/video/Wt8XRVx-fRo/видео.html
Great video bro. Question, without the headphone jack in the front, how are we to plug in and monitor master audio? I didnt see a headphone jack in the back or maybe I missed it
Hello ball show your videos the best channel on RUclips, is there a way to lower the volume of the audio monitors? because I didn't notice where it is!
I used a solvent made for removing vinyl letters form t shirts (found it on Amazon). A few minutes with a generous amount of that an an alcohol wipe took the logos off. Probably not something Rode would endorse though 😬
As far as I can see from you videos about the RODECaster Pro II, the sliders aren't motorized. Does that mean that when you assign another input to the slider that the input directly uses the current value of the slider? And if so, isn't that anoying? Another question I have is about the smartpads. It seems that with the buttons below you can select another page. How many pages are supported? How do you keep track on which page you are? And how do you in a live setting remember which smartpad had which effect? The last question I have is, how do you setup / connect the RODECaster Pro II with the ATEM Mini? Do you use the Mic In on the ATEM for that?
It's usually a good idea to move the faders to zero when swapping channels just to avoid any issues with levels or clipping. The pads currently have 8 pages of banks.
it is becoming a great streaming device. I think if rode would add at minimum 4 inputs or maybe even more from the computer it would be insane! 2 inputs per Computer are nice but not enough for live streaming :/ in addition you also need a feature for different outputs aka submixes not sure if it can do this . hopefully rode will add both options later
@@StefanStra they have a contact form on their website but I don’t think they look at these requests as there must be so many people asking different things.
Dude, you’re the Dr. Seuss of the tech arena. Please never stop the dad jokes. 🎺 Quick question: would you recommend using the headphone outputs to feed an ATEM mini pro’s mic input? I need to use the main outputs for the speakers and I wonder if there’s a workaround. Thanks in advance. Your content is fantastic!
1. THANK YOU! I really appreciate the kind words. 2. I've never really found a great way to get super good audio with either RCP going onto an ATEM. I always get best results by connecting each device separately via USB. I definitely think that's the best way to go.
Hi Tom! thanks for your awesome videos, i could always rely on your video reviews if need help or decision making such as buying rodecaster pro 2! i'm having trouble adding no copyright mp3 to one of the pads and its not successful, do you have a video on how to add sound effects, how do we record a voice and make it effects and custom pads, anywhere we could download nice effects etc.. thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the kind words! The sound effects (copyrighted or not) should just be drag and drop through the Rode Central app. I've never personally had to take any extra steps to add anything. If that's not working, it might be worth trying a reset to see if there's a bug somewhere. It could also be an issue with that specific audio file. You might be able to open it in another application like GarageBand or Quicktime and save it again as a new file.
Eh Tom - great channel, great content. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with the world. Greatly appreciate your efforts. Out of curiosity - and I understand if you don't have an answer; Is it possible to connect multiple rodecasters' together to further expand it's capabilities?
Thanks for such kind words Mike! As of now, there's no official way to pair to RCP's together, but you can run the monitor outputs from one into one of the inputs of the other and kind of make it work.
@@tombuck you are most welcome Tom and thank you for your very timely response. I’ll experiment once I receive my new hardware. Hopefully, I won’t tear a hole in the universe. I’ll keep you posted. LOL
I sometimes try to think of project ideas that would allow me to buy gear like this just so I have a reason to buy one 😅 Also, these are the best jokes I've ever heard in a RUclips video 👌
Great informative video! Quick question, the goxlr has line in/out for sharing audio between two computers which comes in handy for dual PC streaming. Does the rode castor pro 2 have these inputs or an alternative to achieve this? You mentioned that the device has two interfaces and the flexibility is endless. Thanks again!
Hey! So glad you uploaded this as this answers all my questions, this device literally does what my current 9 device setup does!! I have one that has no firmware right now, and usb 1 doesn't display any audio devices but usb 2 does, can you confirm this is how it should behave without any beta software on it? Also, I don't suppose you know if one usb connection can operate in ASIO and another as a "normal" device? Thanks again!!
It’s an incredible tool! It’s not officially released for a few more weeks, so whatever retailer it came from broke a few rules by sending it out early. That just means you’re lucky to have one, but it will pretty much just be a nice looking paperweight until the actual release.
Hello Tom. Love your videos. Would you happen to know how to set the controller assignments for adobe audition? Also, you you record your videos using ECamm live or just from camera. I'm trying to figure out if I should get Ecamm. Thank you
It's funny you ask, I did the Audition assignments when I first got the RCP2 using MIDI and I remember it being simple, but I have COMPLETELY forgotten how to do it 😬 That's probably the worst answer I can give, but hopefully someone else can jump in and help.
Ok Thank you. I'll eventually figure it out. Can you tell me about the Ecamm live? Do you use it for all your recordings or do you only use your camera?
The procaster is such a nice sounding mic. I forget how good it is, even as my everyday mic, I rarely listen to myself critically on it. Do you recall what sort of gain you were running on the procaster? I run mine at about 3/4 on a dbx 286s, but the compressor probably brngs it up some more.
It was just the default setting in the RCP II, which I believe is 55dB. I do think my faulty cable sent some funky signals that seemed to trip up the noise gate a bit, but that’s my fault.
Thanks for the video. You have been a big help with reviews in the past. That said, I used to be all about the discreet hardware device versus using a computer with add-ons. Lately though, I’ve tried to cure my G.A.S. syndrome by looking for alternative options using my laptop, iPad or iPhone instead. Sometimes alone and at other times with add-on hardware to accomplish the needed result, if necessary. What does the RodeCaster Pro II do for me that I can’t do with my MacBook and a less expensive audio interface that I need for other stuff anyway? Plus, with my laptop and iPad, I get a much bigger screen and the ability to have a lot more tracks/channels if I need to. I also already have a recorder/mixer that can do most of this stuff. What’s the compelling reason for the RodeCaster Pro II? Thanks
There are a lot of ways to achieve the same goal I think. What’s great about the RCP is having so many components, both physical and virtual, in one standalone device. At least that why I like it. It’s kind of like how some people will make entire music albums using software while others will stick only to instruments running into a recorder. They’re both great, it’s just personal preference 👍
Tom, quick question. Whilst you are in file transfer mode, could you also record? For exmaple, I have recorded an interview on the SD card and whilst its transferring I want to record an intro on Audition. This would save me a lot of time if possible.
@@tombuck yeah I think it would be good to have a recommended place to start and adjust as needed depending on setup specifics. even tho I might not set it up exactly the same way you might, understanding others' setups can help me figure my own out too!
Any chance you've tried using the Rodecaster Pro 2 SmartPads to midi control switching cameras/scenes in Ecam Live or Vmix? I'm looking to do a 3 camera live podcast with media playback. All the best. Really appreciate the production value and excellent communication of your podcasts.
@@tombuck there is a way, yes. But I believe some had issues with that on the original RCP for some reason. Perhaps because they tried having both (PC and console) at once with only the one USB. Can’t find much about it online about it for either RCP. Curious before I buy. Looking to upgrade to a more compact setup but want to make sure I don’t lose functionality haha.
Scary Au Pair? Good grief. Did you ever figure out rcp2 track assigning for multi tracking? Saw you were trying in the Saturday Livestream. Super interested in that feature.
great video! Thanks for it! there is one thing that puzzles me about MIDI support. Do the SOLO and MUTE buttons also send MIDI commands that can be read by a DAW?
Thank you so much for these videos! They are so helpful. I have my one on preorder based on your recommendations, can’t wait 😀 quick question on the automation with logic. In your video you had the fader and knob set to work on track #2 in logic and it seems like that was hard coded. Is there any way to have it cycle through different channels (maybe on a different smart pad?) so I could use the fader and knob across different tracks? Would love to use this as a control surface and eliminate my current one with this. Thanks!
This is a great question! My MIDI knowledge is pretty limited to be honest, so I'm probably not the best person to answer, but hopefully someone else can see this and chip in!
A nother great video Tom. I make radio, and would like to know if Is it possible that e.g. if you do radio, being able to let the live radio play on speakers in the studio when I'm not speaking live. Hope you understand what I mean.
Totally makes sense. You can adjust the output routing so that your monitors include whatever sources you choose, so you could pretty easily make it so you can hear what's playing or being broadcast when you're not speaking 👍

@@tombuck Thanks Tom. Keep up your amazing work!
yeah some sends and like 3 busses would be awesome.
Pun overload bro 😆 love your energy! Stay blessed!
Such great videos. Tom sends so much intel in a short time and his word links are always charming
Thank you Kyle! This comment is charming. 😬
Great equipment, my rodecaster pro 2 just arrive yesterday.
Congrats! I hope you have a ton of fun with it! Keep an eye out for new firmware updates with new features.
I guess this was your "puncord" inside one and the same video, but hey, you're just inspired by this great new machine. I'm also impressed. Cool that you tested the guitar & bass in the previous video! And the "StereAuPaire"... here, I mean :-)
I was exceptionally proud of that one. Especially because I made it up on the fly 😁
@@tombuck Well, all others feel totally natural, only the intro itself seem scripted, but natural there too :-)
Tom, I really love your videos on the RCP 2.
What a Hoot
A- Nanny
Ok back to giving Tom my Raptor Attention
your puns are next level...spittin' game...hahaha love it! That 'midi bit' was fyah
🔥
Looks great Tom
Ok Buck keep them hits coming. Mahalo for keeping my anticipation occupied until my units show up 😹
Brah the Loudness adjustment is on point. LUFS that too
It’s such an awesome update!
Tom, you’re sensational. Keep it up my friend.
Thanks so much Adam! I appreciate the kind words!
ok, ok...next time I'll watch your video...I'm gonna drink a shot every time you make a puns. However, don't think I'll make it to the end of the video.
I'm not responsible to any harm that may befall you.
If you ever need someone to test your equipments with. Let me know. I am always available to help out. Love your contents
Thanks Charleston!
One thing I like, the record button is no longer glowing like the OG RCP.
Also, I foresee a video where you try to plug in as many mics (or other gear) into the two to.
I definitely want to find a way to link them together 😁
So love the voice effects and the body expression used with them. Is Disney your next secret project?
Yes, that's where this all is leading 😁
Does the RCPII do the guitar input thingy that the Focusrite 2i2 can do? Where you plug up a guitar and your neighbors hear nothing, but you are actually recording in the computer?
Yep! So you don't need to have both interfaces.
I do love those vids Tom... My RCP I is enough for me fortunately (more so for my wallet). There is something to be said for the simplicity of the first version ;-). Although I would love to tinker with the RCP II i do not have an immediate need for it. But knowing me, eventually my GAS will kick in...
The original is still wildly capable. Mine's not going anywhere anytime soon. So much you cna do with it!
Rode did say that a new update is coming to allow custom headphone output mixes, but I don't know when it'll be available. Seems cool though!
at 0:34 I see there are different rode connections (stream, system, virtual, chat and main).
@@CoffeeTalkandTechJohnRyan , Agreed I'm really enjoying these videos too. Keep it up @Tom Buck
Awesome video! And is that the rode NT1 shock mount with the procaster?
Haha yes, it’s the only one I have that’ll fit it 😁
you record with hardware outside of the program. Great tutorial btw it was very detailed but still just right for beginners.
Thanks William! Rode sent me the RCP and gave me early access to the firmware, so I'm not complaining! 😎
@@tombuck Tom, Yeah I guess having access to a ground breaking technology at the outset is a good thing... Keep up the great work that you do... Bill
Great video again have good to see some further details on computer set up top quality jokes again
There’s so much to cover when it comes to this thing!
Mind. Blown. Thank you so much for this detailed information.
Glad it was helpful!
Allow me to nit pick for a sec : I miss the giant record button 😅
It’s tough to go wrong with a giant button (see my channel banner).
Oooh, that's great question! My MIDI skills are adMIDIdly lacking, but I feel like this is something that would be possible.
That failed audio sound effect because you weren't recording had me laughing. 🤣
A wise man would’ve edited that out, and yet here we are.
I’m almost 🤏🏾 sold on this.
I don't know what more you need! It's awesome! 😁
@@tombuck I already have equipment I can do this with but this is all in one. So close to getting it.
I bought it today. These videos are very helpful. Iam curious how much my singing and rap recordings will benefit from it.
Hopefully you have a ton of fun with it!
So i understand that i can control with the "midi"settings all my other volume levels like game and music levels? i now use "power mixer" and a panorama P1 as a midi controler.
Thanks a lot, this could definitely help me!❤
What shock mount are you using for the Procaster? Have been looking for one like that. Doesn't look like the Rode one right?
It’s the old one for the NT1- I don’t think they make it anymore.
@@tombuck Ah ok thanks much!
I feel so stupid. I bought the RCP1 in Novemeber. And it is still working great. May sell it and get the RCP2.
Nothing stupid at all, it’s still an incredible tool and you’ve had 7 months to enjoy it 👍
You're my go to for RCP content! Haha! Wait! So with the RCP2 we can plug it as a mic into our phones? So like for Instagram live or TikTok we can plug in the RCP2 and play music and sound effects? 🤔
I guess so with a certain adapter.
Curious if you lose your files or if they get corrupted in any of these scenarios:
- USB power cable gets disconnected while recording
- USB hard drive is disconnected while recording.
Currently it's 2 channels on USB 1 and 1 channel on USB 2. I'm hoping they'll add more functionality as time goes on 👍
Well that road catcher pro shoes sounds perfect for me I would love to see you do the sound effects kind of like the professional broadcast sound effects where they bring in the the title intro and the station identification special effects and all those in between weird special facts and music effects and all those things that they use on broadcast and shows I'd like to see how to use that too.
I would’ve preferred full size SD too. But the transfer speeds on the internal card reader are blazing fast, so that’s awesome.
I think with dual USB-C a lot of people will use an external drive if they want to move it physically. And a micro SD can just permanently live in the rodecaster if you will transfer files off by network.
Tom Buck. I use the same microphone. Can you please tell me what shock mount you use in this video?! Looks so good and sturdy!
I commandeered the old one from the NT-1 since it's the only mount I have that fits the Procaster. I like it though!
Super video Tom, including the jokes! I notice that the TRRS jack is no ,longer available on this new version. I use this a lot as an input for background music; is this what the second USB replaces?
Yep, the USB replaces it. I used the TRRS input all the time too, but I've been pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to adapt to the USB port.
Love your setup! how is your front view camera set up and what kind of camera is it if you don’t mind? Thanks!
It’s the Sony FX3 with the 24 1.4 lens 👍
@@tombuck Thank you, I’m trying to get a video podcast set up, just purchased the Pro II, looking forward to using it!
Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work,
Chris
So when using the SSD, does the Rodecaster just create a new folder each time it’s used?
Also is it possible to create separate mixes to send to each headphone output in logic or is it a shared mix?
Basically, yes. Each recording instance is a new timestamped folder.
Whats size xlr cord did you get for you mic
I usually use a 10ft XLR most of the time.
Hey Tom I was wondering if you could make a video on how you sink your audio to video with the rodecaster pro recordings. And how you get it perfect
Yeah syncing is definitely not always easy. Especially when the editing preview doesn’t look like the final rendered video
I didnt see a headphone jack in the back or maybe I missed it
It’s down to the 4 headphone jacks on the back, not 100% sure why.
Nice, SMR Shockmount with the Procaster..
It’s what I had 🤷🏻♂️
@@tombuck Looks amazing!! 😅
Ready for this
Hello ball show your videos the best channel on RUclips, is there a way to lower the volume of the audio monitors? because I didn't notice where it is!
Also did you put gaffe tape or something over the logo on your boom arm? I plan to do the same when mine comes next week?
2 inputs per Computer are nice but not enough for live streaming :/
in addition you also need a feature for different outputs aka submixes not sure if it can do this .
hopefully rode will add both options later
Yes! I hope so. More than 2 inputs per computer would be awesome.
@@clemradio maybe we have to place this somewhere @rode or maybe Tom can
@@StefanStra they have a contact form on their website but I don’t think they look at these requests as there must be so many people asking different things.
I have a feeling that there are a lot of features in the works for future firmware updates.
Dude, you’re the Dr. Seuss of the tech arena. Please never stop the dad jokes. 🎺
Quick question: would you recommend using the headphone outputs to feed an ATEM mini pro’s mic input? I need to use the main outputs for the speakers and I wonder if there’s a workaround.
Thanks in advance. Your content is fantastic!
1. THANK YOU! I really appreciate the kind words.
2. I've never really found a great way to get super good audio with either RCP going onto an ATEM. I always get best results by connecting each device separately via USB. I definitely think that's the best way to go.
@@tombuck thank you, Tom. Greetings from Stockholm. Hit us up if you’re in town! ✌️
Hi Tom! thanks for your awesome videos, i could always rely on your video reviews if need help or decision making such as buying rodecaster pro 2!
i'm having trouble adding no copyright mp3 to one of the pads and its not successful, do you have a video on how to add sound effects, how do we record a voice and make it effects and custom pads, anywhere we could download nice effects etc..
thanks in advance!!
Hey thank you! 🙏
It’s not quite an e-reader, but it’ll play back audio books with great quality!
Watched your Q/A, thanks for answering my question!
I haven't used the GoXLR yet, but the two USB ports on the RCP II seem like they'll do what you're describing here.
Thank you
It's funny you ask, I did the Audition assignments when I first got the RCP2 using MIDI and I remember it being simple, but I have COMPLETELY forgotten how to do it 😬
That's probably the worst answer I can give, but hopefully someone else can jump in and help.
-50dB. Just watched your other vid :)
Tom got jokes. Thanks, another great class.
You can still monitor your audio in transfer mode, but not record.
would love to see a dual computer stream setup guide on this thing
There are a lot of ways t approach it, but I'd definitely like to make a video specifically dedicated to that in the future 👍
I wonder if that second USB feature would work to have the audio in/out of a game console (and computer at the same time). Have you given that a try?
I not enough of a leet gamer to try, but that’s a super interesting idea. I guess there must be some way to select audio output on newer consoles?
@@tombuck there is a way, yes. But I believe some had issues with that on the original RCP for some reason. Perhaps because they tried having both (PC and console) at once with only the one USB. Can’t find much about it online about it for either RCP. Curious before I buy. Looking to upgrade to a more compact setup but want to make sure I don’t lose functionality haha.
Scary Au Pair? Good grief. Did you ever figure out rcp2 track assigning for multi tracking? Saw you were trying in the Saturday Livestream. Super interested in that feature.
I'm in way over my head with that one, but I need to experiment more!
Can I record from my iPhone through Rodecaster to the MacBook?
Yep! Either via Bluetooth or USB.
Pre-ordered mine yea!!!
great video! Thanks for it!
there is one thing that puzzles me about MIDI support. Do the SOLO and MUTE buttons also send MIDI commands that can be read by a DAW?
I just tried it and couldn’t get those buttons to trigger reliably. I am on the beta firmware though, so who knows 🤷🏻♂️
@@tombuck got it, thanks for the answer!
@@tombuck Thank you so much Tom, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me 👍👍
