This is by far.... the best tutorial I've ever found about Rode Caster, I was watching almost all of them, but this pro explains in great detail everything about it, thank you so much!!!!!!
Mike Russell already did a detailed video here on RUclips entitled: “My RODECaster Pro 2 Settings for the BEST Experience!” I already tuned mine with using his video (copying his setup and made just a few adjustments), and it sounds PERFECT now! Honestly the pre-made Advanced setup that you have for the ElectroVoice RE20 is okay, but using the pre-made Neutral, Podcast Studio or the Broadcast Settings, you still hear quite a bit of background noise. This is where Mike Russell's settings and his guidance come into play. But I will watch your video to see what other tweaks can be made, if any. Thanks for making this video happen! 🙂
I want to see you shoot this video in a non professional environment- no aureolex on the walls, no sound proofing, a non professional environment and then make a very professional video with the RoadCaster. That will show the real power of the RoadCaster 2.
@@rodemic yup that would be cool. What would be even cooler is your tech support line actually working. You know the 562 number out of Long Beach, yeah that number never rings. So much for your high speed tech support 😂
After all these settings do i still need a DAW for post processing? Ths was a great video actually. I'm gonna head to my Rodecaster pro 2 and start playing with this settings. Thank you
Hey there, it really depends on what you're trying to do and what your use case is. Ultimately, for users recording a livestream or podcast, it's made to streamline your experience so that your effects can all be done directly on your RØDECaster.
There may be a few reasons for this! We'd recommend checking out our User Guide for more info: rode.com/en/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii/setting-up-the-mixer-and-assigning-channels
Hey there, there are a few different reasons this could be: - There is an issue with your headphones. You can troubleshoot this by trying different headphones. On your RØDECaster's main interface, there is a section that shows the levels of the main mix in the top right of the screen, next to the settings icon and the speaker icon. If there is audio in the "L" and "R" channels, but you aren't hearing that audio in both channels, that means there's an issue with your headphones. - The actual audio in your mixer is only using one of your two stereo channels. If using the above method, you can only see audio in the "L" or "R" channel, that means the audio that you're using from your computer or phone is only using the left or right channel. - You've accidentally turned on the "panning" effect in one of your audio channels or in your "processing" output menu.
P48 or Phantom Power is something you generally only need when using condenser microphones with your interface though whether your mic does or doesn't require phantom power should be clear in the manufacturer's manual.
I have a question. if I am going to multi track PRE fader does that mean all my audio (no matter where my slider is) will get sent out at unity gain (-10db according to the slider)? so say my pads are set at like -45db on the slider it will export at -10?
Hey there - since publishing this video we've made changes to how the De-esser represents what's happening on the screen graphically. The effect is still the same.
Hi, I use the Rodecaster pro 2 for youtube livestreams. I have tried several mics and I always get talked over during panel discussions and my mic distorts although my levels are always in the green. Ive used the pod mic, the sm7b, the mv7, and currently the EV320. It seems that my mic is not the problem can you please tell me where im going wrong with my RC settings?
Good morning. I have a Rodecaster pro II. I keep having problems: When I turn it off for a while and turn it back on again, it doesn't keep the time in memory, and it often doesn't reconnect to the wifi network... I have to repeat the procedure. How can I fix it?
Hey there, would recommend checking out the user guide here rode.com/en/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii and if you can't find the answer you're looking for, to chat to our support team here: rode.com/en/support/contact
RODE please please please give us at least 2 more routing channels that appear in the sound settings (on the PC )so that we can Route/separate all of our audio. there's many people running to 2 PC setups with tons of audio that needs to be separated and adjusted separately , the current 3(USB 1 main, Chat, USB 2) is not enough 🙏🏾 at least 2 more.
Wave XLR with capture card can handle dual PCs much better than this device. I’d say that if you’re a on the go podcaster this is a must have but for streaming Elgato does a far superior job catering to streamers.
Do you guys have a video like with but with the proper setting for the Procaster Mic? I can see that there is a preset on my RCP2, but it doesn't sound as full as i would like it to sound. Im also having a hard time properly adjusting the noise gate.
Hey Jose, with a dynamic mic like the Procaster there are a few factors at play including mic technique. We would suggest starting with the Procaster preset and tweaking the VoxLab (not advanced ) processing settings (depth, sparkle and punch) until you're happy with the tonality, if you want to choose from a preset to give you more fullness consider using the Broadcast option under presets.
Help please? - I want to use “RODECaster Pro Stereo” on my MacBook Pro. - I see only ”RODECaster Pro II Main Multitrack” and “RODECaster Pro II Chat” and no “RODECaster Pro II Stereo” option. How do I fix this? I’m using this with Ecamm Live.
So if I buy this thing, there will be that same background music when I turn it on? How do I turn the music off? You also have noisy sound deadened room.
We have some updates planned for soon! Beta testers will be first to hear this, so we'd recommend signing up if you haven't already: rode.com/en/support/rodecaster-pro-ii-beta-program
We don't. However, the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo use 15V USB charging, so they're compatible with many portable batteries which will charge tablets and laptops. That's how many of our users use them to do shows on the go!
Just out of curiosity, for the De-Esser are we supposed to get rid of the red bar the comes down when trying to adjust everything or are we looking for the red bar to actively come down?
In short, yes, you are looking for that red bar to come down. The red bar just indicates that the compressor is subtracting some sound from your recording, so if it's not moving, the effect isn't doing anything. However, as Julian notes in the video, if there isn't much sibelance in your voice, you won't need this effect, and as such, the red bar won't move very much.
Great piece of hardware. The monitor for the setting is uhm nice but tiny would like to see an app on computer for it. EQ etc is better to see there. The Rodecaster one had that app.
Hey :) thanks for the video! We wanted to use it in the stream with speakers, but just can't get rid of the feedback from the mics. (Rode mics) Also, you can hear our voice in the speakers, which we don't want. Do you have a suggestion for a solution? Is there a setting that we are overlooking? We had a Behringer mixer before, there were no problems. Thank you and best regards

So because there isn't a downward expander, you can't really fix a little background noise? If I only have the option for a gate people will hear noise every time it opens.
@@rodemic AFAIK, a downwards expander is able to attenuate quiet parts of the signal (background noise) even more with some kind of threshold and ratio. So even when the gate opens something is actively working so remove noise.
Silly question. I’ll be producing a podcast using the rodecaster pro, but NOT actually “on-air” talking into a mic. I’ll just behind the scenes. How do I monitor the line mix out of the roadcaster? The headphone outputs align with the mic inputs. But I won’t have a mic. Will the host use the headphone one I put on the back of the unit and I’ll use the headphone Jack on the front of the unit? And I’ll hear all line outputs?
