Great video! I have a question if I may? I tend to have a lot of 'drop out' on my sound with exactly this setup and one of the presets, but not sure why. If I increase gain, it either clips or just makes it even more pronounced. Not sure what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
I have had multiple compatibility issues with my Rodecaster Pro 2 and have decided to look for new options (not an easy task). Based on your experience, if you had to choose a console that is not from the RØDE brand, which one would you choose? Thank you!
I was waiting for this video. I was having an issue on Windows where if the Volume for the Microphone is set at 100% it is very distorted regardless of where the fader is set on input 1. There's no documentation anywhere showing what that level should be at. I did reach out to Rode and they state that at 50% Volume for the Microphone volume setting within Windows is Unity along with the notch towards the top on the rodecaster pro 2. So I just set the Mic Level in Windows to 80% and manually use the fader on the rodecaster pro 2. It auto defaulted to 100% by the way. Hope this helps someone it was driving me nuts.
Let me know what settings you guys use, I'm currently using both the Rodecaster Pro 2 along with the Shure SM7B. I'm just a normal user trying to get the most of these devices.
Superbly explained. Do the settings also apply for the Rodecaster Duo? Also, can we connect the Shure MV7 via USB to the Rodecaster Duo?

Great video again. I've been using the SM7B, CloudLifter, and Yamaha MG10XU mixer for a long time. Do you think the Rodecaster Pro 2 is a good replacement (if budget isn't an issue)?
sir i have a question if you just have a cloud lifter lying around cant you just plug it in and get like a 00.001% better audio or something or you just cant plug it in because it will sound back
Thanks for the great vid, im interested in the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Headphones what amp should i get with it or does this Rode product run it as well along with the mic?
Hi there, I have noticed that you are using DT990 pro (open headphones) in this video. Is this headphone convenient for podcasting? I know they can bleed sounds out of the headphone. I was recommended to use 770 pro (closed) please share your thoughts. Thank you alot & your videos are great help to me
Hi! Why is reverberation played in monophonic mode on this device? Can we expect this issue to be fixed in the next firmware of the RØDECaster Pro II? Can this built-in reverb produce a natural surround stereo signal, as in all other mixing consoles from any other manufacturer over the past 50 years?
Can you do a rodecaster pro 2 video to camera Sony a7iii I went off of your previous video with the rodecaster pro 1 and bought the Hosa CMP-159 3.5 mm TRS to Dual 1/4" TS Stereo Breakout Cable to connect but I’m not getting any sound through the camera. Appreciate your videos!!!
I would like to share the RCP2 with a Mac mini M2 Pro and a windows box, so when I am done with work I can use it for gaming/streaming as well. Can I use the usb ports at the back or do I need a separate usb switcher for this?
Thanks for the video. I own the Sound Devices MixPre 3 II and have used a RCP2 recently. The Sound Devices is a better unit IMO overall in terms of preamps, 32-bit float, and build quality but the RCP2 is unmatched in realtime processing and effects for live podcasts and shows unless you spend crazy bucks more for analog gear. Plastic build quality is disappointing. I guess it depends what you are looking for. Since I mostly do recorded podcasts, webinars, etc. I think I'm better off with my MixPre and processing the audio later in Audition.
For sure. I think the RCP2 preamps are getting close, but the 32-bit float is such a great feature, especially when you're on the run with the MixPre3. I don't mind the plastic build, I don't see any reliability issues from the construction whatsoever. If you're comparing these two devices, I think it mostly comes down to wether or not you livestream, want sound pads/media, or need realtime processing. If you don't, the MixPre3 probably one of your best options.
@@kettnercreative True. Maybe I'll consider picking up the RCP2 at some point as well or just hold out for the RCP3. Just goes to show that there isn't one interface to rule them all yet...
Hello, I purchased a Rod product, but I want to know how to isolate ambient sounds, such as the keyboard, the air, or the voices of the people around me.
Better microphone positioning and playing with the noise gate will help you. That being said, it's the microphone's job to pickup sound, and the best results will come from adding sound proofing and sound treatment to your environment and eliminating background noise as much as possible.
@@kettnercreative Thank you, because I am at work and there are two other people with me, and the sound of the air conditioning and other things causes noise in the microphone, but I will try to eliminate the noise.
I really want the rodecaster duo, but I've heard many people complaining it doesn't have real time monitoring and a very high latency. Can anyone who owns it or the pro 2 share their opinions on this please?
hello bro , i have a rode procaster 2 and shure sm7b , i use the same settings as you but its to loud , my voice is so loud and its not sound clear, so i need to put my slider at level 5 etc. do i do something wrong?
Yeah that's it! Something about making sure something is either powered on or off when using the mic.. Maybe it rings a bell, if not thank you for the time@@kettnercreative
sir i have a question if you just have a cloud lifter lying around cant you just plug it in and get like a 00.001% better audio or something or you just cant plug it in because it will sound back
The Revolution preamps built into the Rodecaster Pro II and Duo will give you significantly cleaner gain than a CloudLifter will. I had considered replacing my SM7b with a SM7Db but it is totally unnecessary with this mixer.
This combo with an O.C. White ProBoom Ultima Gen2 is phenomenal.
I have sm7b and rcp2
Had previously the rcp1 with cloud lifter and sm7b
The rcp2 is just lovely
The deeper you go, the better it gets.
Thank you so much for these videos. Setup is the part that made me procrastinate on starting my podcast in the past.

Very informative video on how to set up the Shure SM7b with the RPC2
I have one Question : Is it the same as RØDE RØDECaster Duo ? We can connect a Shure SM7B without preamp ?
Because my GoXLR dying lol...
it is! I own the SM7B with the Rode Caster Duo, it's just a smaller version of the PRO II, literally the same preamps.
appreciate the video, was looking for some good settings for this combo
Great video! Please make one for Shure MV7 mic and Rodcaster pro 2
Thanks for the comment, we'll add it to the list.
@@kettnercreative any thoughts on the profile for the MV7? or was there a video for it I missed?

@@kettnercreative Many thansk for your response. I'm using it for Zoom/Teams, online webinars, and podcasts... Would you switch to the Rodecaster?

Could I use these same settings for the Shure MV7? I have a Rodecaster Pro Duo, so I'm assuming that wouldn't change much.
Whats this "P48" (i guess Phantompower) and the other button, on the right of it, for?

@@XMegaJuni It's best practice to keep Phantom Power (48v) turned off with the Shure SM7B unless you're using an inline preamp (Cloudlifter, etc.).
