I purchased a pot of morning glories in may at a local garden store. Planted the seedlings in great soil with a tall pole, it has grown 14ft. not one blossom, I have fertilized every few weeks. What happened?
Trailer Boy if your morning glory is already getting full sun, then my guess is it’s because of your soil. It’s too rich for the plant. When fertilized, morning glories grow very healthy leaves and no flowers! I suggest you stop fertilizing it- morning glories bloom in more poor of soil. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)
I live in poor light conditions in a housing complex, The weedwackers took out my fence of morning glories.. it was cut about a foot from the ground, i stuck it in a bottomless wine bottle filled with soil and drip watered it with a hole in a water bottle, The wine bottle was solid roots in no time!
I started my morning glory in a hanging pot but I was worried that the pot was getting too full and twisted so i tried to take some root balls and place them in a separate pot. Im keeping my fingers crossed that this does not kill them!
@@sanjose528 I planted seeds last spring--my first attempt ever to grow anything from seeds. I thought it'd be easy because we've got morning glories everywhere in my Leucadia neighborhood --but although some little plants grew, they died off really quickly. Not sure if it's bunnies or insects or disease? I've tried cuttings in water without much success--so I'm going to try layering. It'll be easier for me not to disturb them like I always do to cuttings in water (after a week I give up because they're RIGHT THERE on the kitchen sill, lol)
Try this method, it might be helpful. As a side note, I’ve had some great success with water propagation. If I recall, the last time I took cuttings, roots sprouted in around 1-2 weeks. Wishing you luck this time! Let us know how it goes for you 😊
I have planted a single morning glory creeper in a pot on my terrace, i had done this before but the plant died, but now how can i keep it alive this for long-time and also i want that to spread the full terrace, kindly give suggestions.
Can't we just take cuttings normally like when growing sweet potatoes. Also since I've mentioned that, wouldn't they hybridize if they are grown nearby?
Why is these type of morning glories different then the seed kind? I understand that one type does not seed while another kind you get seeds that drop at a certain time of the year.
@@BirdofParadise whats ironic is the morning glory leafs the shape in this video is different then the shape of the morning glories I planted which have a heart shape to them, I generally plant heavenly blue & grandpa ott morning glories but I recently went to a nursery purchased 2 in five gallon buckets that was staked as the kind you have & the vines are much more stronger & as stated differently shaped, I was told that ones I bought in bucket that they are called parenials not sure spelt it right but was told they do not seed that you have to use the cuttings to grow more of these kind & then the others I have are the seeded type that will drop many seeds in time so was bit confused with these the differences between the two types.
Gotcha! Yes these are perennials, meaning that they are alive year round as opposed to annuals that die after their season. I hope you enjoy them they are gorgeous!!
Thanks for watching! Lmk what else you’d like to see. With morning glory you can also stick them in water to propagate them. I haven’t directly stuck them in the ground, but honestly there so invasive I wouldn’t be surprised if that worked
It took me awhile before my morning glories started blooming consistently. I have multiple species, but for the most part they are all longer than 6 ft. I hope you’re seeing some blooms now though
Great idea! I'm not great with gardening so this is really helpful! We are a new friend. Thank you for sharing. We would love you to check out out channel too. Stay safe 😍

i will give it a try thanks a lot.
dont feed glories, you only get leaves
Too much fertilizer ! Morning glory needs stress and poor soil to make blossoms ! Rich soils and she will focus on big green leaves
O
Every morning is glorious
😆😆 agreed
Except mondays
Wow! That’s dope!

Thank you so much
Love this!
William Cohn thanks 😍
Thank you❤❤❤
I found this video helpful to me, since I have morning glory I would like to propagate. Thanks for sharing
Great, they’re also really easy to propagate by cutting! Good luck :)
I enjoyed reading your comment as I found it insightful and relatable. Thanks for commenting.
Omg just osm great information 👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌
Thank you
Soooooo beautiful 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

That’s fantastic!!
Uma trepadeira chamada Glória da manhã, muito linda e com cores vibrantes! Excelente vídeo explicando sua propagação. 🌱 👏👏👏👏👏
Muchas gracias ☺️
I will try to propagate one of these at a friend’s house to make a good pair with Ipomoea purpurea and Ipomoea indica (this one)
Awesome 😎
Hi! I have them growing wild in my backyard but my neighbor keeps cutting them! We share a fence and I want to grow them in a pot.
Omgosh. That’s so sad lol. I would be pissed 😂
Can we trim the vine? I am planting mine in a pot, very limited space for it to climb, if I trim the vine, will it affect the blooming?
How much space do you have? The more space the better.. but as long as it gets enough sun you should be fine.
@@BirdofParadise the vine is growing longer and longer, no more space for it to climb
It’s in full sun?
Wow 👏

Lisa morning glories are almost impossible to kill, don’t worry they should be fine! :) keep me updated
@@BirdofParadise thankyou🌸

what kind of pot is it? ceramic pots dry out faster than plastic.. if you're already using a plastic pot, how much sun is it getting?
wow! this video was great and you got a new sub!
please keep making more videos and let's connect and make yt friends!
Thanks Julissa! You got a new sub as well :)
Can't we just take cuttings normally like when growing sweet potatoes. Also since I've mentioned that, wouldn't they hybridize if they are grown nearby?
What is the best time of the year to do that?
I would say either, spring, summer or fall depending on which zone you’re in. To be safe I would say spring or summer. Happy gardening :)
@@BirdofParadise thanks :)

I don’t think that they are different. I’m sure these ones produce seeds as well

@@BirdofParadiseYou grow Ipomoea Indica, a sterile type of morning glory that requires to be pollinated from a different plant to have seeds.
