I genuinely appreciate the content you put out. Practice. It mostly comes down to practice for starting and stopping streams. Once you do it enough times it should come more naturally. Being more engaging is also a practice thing. It's mostly about turning what the speaker is saying back to them. Obviously the nuances still stand, but there are other videos on RUclips with people who specialize in conversation coaching.
You did a very good job on this video, thanks. And yes, the most engagement on my streams happened in just chatting moments. Love the vibe and the energy.

That doesn’t understand the effort that goes in! Thanks so much for this! This did make me think again about my tags. I will revisit that! Again great video!!
This video is amazing! And major props to you for managing to put on the poor attitude and little/no talking. ESPECIALLY when someone in chat started, well, chatting. It would kill me to do something like that. One of my absolute favorite things about streaming is talking to chat, asking people how they're doing, reacting to comments and observations. I do still need to improve on just talking while playing or drawing when no one is actively talkative, but I'm definitely better at it than I had been when I first started and it has made a WORLD of difference. I really like to do voice acting and something I've found is that having different Voice channel point rewards really helps with getting me to talk, since I have to in order to do the voice so their channel points don't go to waste. It gets me talking, and is a fun little thing for my chat to hear and interact with!
It certainly was hard haha. I did tell them at the end that it was a joke:) For sure, coming up with unique ideas to get people talking is a great idea:)

Ok, this was a really cool video!! Great idea and very well made! Would be interesting to see where "bad" & "good" seohowt are 6 months from now, stats wise... But I think we already know the answer to that... :D
This is the perfect kind of video I was looking for. People always make videos giving verbal tips on how to improve your twitch streams, but visuals and examples like this are super helpful!! Thank you!
I came back to this video just to reminisce on the dawn of StankyPete who is a cool guy and a friend and only in the age of the internet could you meet someone from from a youtube video from a good twitch streamer pretending to be a bad twitch streamer
To have gotten to the point with your online presence that you can pull off playing as beginner, mid teir, and pro streamer is awesome. I hope one day my online presence comes off professional. I've just started streaming and am forcing myself to talk until I become comfortable 😂
22:22 If that guy was like me, they might have been there lurking for a few mins until they decided: Yes, this streamer is worthy of starting a conversation with.
This video is chok full of great advice, from top to bottom. Listen to what this guy says. He is spot on here. A note on "being engaged" and having fun; if you aren’t "feeling it" during a stream, don't be a stubborn mule. Tell your audience that you're just not "there" at the moment and graciously end your stream. Your viewers WILL APPRECIATE THE TRANSPARENCY!! Basically, be professional about your streams. If you want to succeed, you need to act like a pro. No, wait, don't ACT like a pro, BE a professional. Viewers can smell the BS from a mile off.
This video was great! I feel like it really helped show what new streamers can do better to be more entertaining and just a better streamer in general. Nice job 😁👍
As a newbie streamer that has streamed on and off since 2016 your video was super helpful to watch! I've tired to keep to it this year, but I've noticed some issues I've never realized in your "bad" streams that I am more aware of and plan on fixing in the future. Again thank you for making this amazing video on how to improve the overall vibe of the stream!
Older video. I know but still relevant. I actually started out like this and it was absolutely the same outcome. But I learned more as I kept going. This is one of the most important things a new streamer can learn! Amazing information.
This video has shown me the true importance of having a quality twitch channel. I've been grinding the same game for 4 yrs and could not seem to figure it out. Going to give this a shot and see what happens!
Just a quick question. What do to tell to zero viewers. When no one is asking you anything on the chat. How do you know what to talk about. Its way easier for famous streamers to talk about anything and everything because people asked them things. But for a person with zero viewers it's hard trying to not give up the stream cause no one is watching. It hurts your ego, self-esteem and confidence. Makes you feel like shit and makes you feel like no one is interested in what you have to say. On top of all that you want me to be talk ABOUT MY DAY. 😂😂😂
Hey man I just wanted to say I really appreciated this video, I recently just started my streaming journey on twitch a couple of days ago and this video has helped me identify so many mistakes I been making already. Thank you again, SeoHowt😂
no way i'm starting streaming and this came up in my recommended no way! Unironically your "bad streamer" is *scarily* close to what I found myself doing so far (I've only streamed 3 days). Not the lack of enthusiasm or not talking even when there's no chat, I can do better with my topics, but I do stay yapping. But the lack of effort in the title, panels, etc. I have half a theme pack (like the one in my YT avatar) but I lost most of the images eg stream starting soon, intermission, ending stream, etc. So I'm just using ones I've conjured up in MS paint, granted, they're meant to be humorously bad, but the descriptions and my bio are like one sentence max each. Thanks to you though, I've fixed up the descriptions and I'm ready for my next stream tomorrow!
This really puts me off and makes me question if streaming is even for me. I don't wanna have a webcam, but I also feel quite a disconnect when streaming since no one can see reactions etc. but then I think back at why I started streaming in the first place and then I realized that it's about me having fun and not really about growing or anything like that. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back and realize why you're doing what you do, that's how I got my groove and enjoyment back :)
100% agree! Streaming is what you make it! And that was part of point of the “bad” stream was to highlight someone who clearly isn’t having any fun and sees streaming as a chore. You do you and have as good of a time as you can:)
@@xTwoShoes reminds me of someone I saw in a discord asking for "good games to stream", and basically turns out he was streaming as a chore. I was kinda blunt with him but ended up bringing him back to his senses, why worry about a game being "streamable" if you won't enjoy it? I mean sure, you could try looking at games that you enjoy AND are streamable (best case) but enjoyment always comes first. Oh and thanks for this amazing comparison, I really liked seeing the difference between a good and bad stream, and just how little effort is actually required to have a good overlay nowadays (many online tools etc)
I knew what i needed to do to get my twitch channel ready, but i didn't have the motivation to do it. This finally gave me the motivation to spruce up my channel! Thanks for the video really well done!
So glad I found your page! Plenty of streamers out there talk but show nothing, your channel is sooooo different in that aspect! Lots of info but worth while watching more than once. Will now take the education and go sort my stuff out, then let the shenanigans begin
I know I’m two years late but as a new streamer I was watching a lot of of videos of how to get better and try to grow. Your videos helped a lot! To the point that I I’ve hit affiliate just one month of streaming with an average viewers being between 3-5.
This video just got recommended to me and there were a lot of great tips here. The self promo in another stream and the "no backseating" killed me 😭 Great video ❤
This Video is so good idk why but i keep coming back to watch it all the time. It's funny, it's informative. One of the best Videos I've ever watched 👍
This was a fun experiment to watch through. Just proves that you need to be ready to self critique and sometimes rethink what you are doing to make your streams better. Looking forward to the next video
Thank you for the comparison! I've recently started streaming and have been looking up guides and tutorials left and right. It's amazing what just a little bit more effort can do for the stream! I'm definitely gonna try to become a better conversationalist. I feel like multi-tasking gaming and chatting is such a hard skill to pick-up, especially when you're deep in it!
Sold info. I have to say as a Fortnite streamer it is I believe one of the hardest games to grow in. I have a very small following and I have been streaming it for 7 years. I'm now on 3 platforms with restream, and still not really holding viewers. I have extremely high quality gear, setup, alerts- so it basically comes down to me being the issue. I have some hardcore fans which is great, we play all the time together, but can't hold new viewers long on the stream, even when I get hit with a rush of Tiktok viewers, say a 100 in 10 seconds, I end up being down to 2 after 30 seconds, then 0 after 2 minutes. I use to stream Clash Royale and was extremely excited, off the hook if you would, and those numbers showed. Had a few streams go over 2.3k concurrent viewers for hours. I thought by now I would have adapted to Fortnite, but it doesn't seem it. Even when I do put in 100%, people just don't stick around. I like the game so much, I don't want to stream anything different. I know after 7 years most people would say just give up, but I do this for enjoyment, hoping to grow at some point. I am a full time content creator, so this is how I can socialize with everyone. Anyway, I'll try the advice you have said in the video and see how it goes.
Thank you for this video. It was very helpful and helped me add more to my channel. Especially the panels as I only ever had sound alerts and that was all. Now I don't have cram everything in the BIO section and it looks significantly better and cleaner overall. I appreciate the help this video has gave me. Amazing work!!!!
This was genuinely so helpful, especially the part about actively interacting and talking with your viewers. There's so much advice out there about the technicalities and how to get more viewers by making a youtube etc, but not that much about just being an actually good streamer. It's especially hard for me to find good advice because I'm an art streamer and almost everyone talks about gaming streams. I feel like it's even harder to keep talking when doing art because drawing takes a lot of time and can be a bit slow for a twitch stream. What I've seen from my favorite art streamers is that again, you don't just sit there to watch them draw, they always talk to you about literally anything which keeps you engaged with the stream. I first fell into the "just draw with background music and the occasional reply to chat" at first and man the streams felt so long. Then I started to push myself to always be saying something and the chat was so alive!! There were new messages like every 10 seconds at 5 viewers. It was genuinely so much more enjoyable. Always talking about anything is still a skill I have to improve of course and it is quite hard to master but it's truly what gives the essemce of your stream. Of course your art needs to be good but without the constant interaction people will get bored and click off.

Twoshoes is literally built different when it comes to streaming. Loved seeing the whole process from start to finish!
Yooooo thank you dude!
Ok, this was a really cool video!!
Great idea and very well made! Would be interesting to see where "bad" & "good" seohowt are 6 months from now, stats wise... But I think we already know the answer to that... :D
Thanks so much!! It would be interesting for sure...maybe SeoHowt will become my main! 😂
Hahah so wild!
For sure:)
I actually had no idea I could do most of this stuff until I saw this. This is going to make my streams SO much better, thank you!
Hell yeah Dan! Another banger!
Thanks homie :D
Nice job 😁👍
Thanks so much!!! Exactly what I was going for!
I felt soo bad when you didnt talk with popwizard
Don't worry, I told them eventually what was going on:) They were cool about it haha
Older video. I know but still relevant. I actually started out like this and it was absolutely the same outcome. But I learned more as I kept going. This is one of the most important things a new streamer can learn! Amazing information.
this was so sick 😂great vid mate
Legend! Thank you bud!
Liked for the singing at like 27:30 or something
Good work killin it
Thank you!!
The feeling when Seohowt's bad page is better than your own page 🤦♂️😢
I started streaming yesterday, got across your video and I found really helpful info here, thanks dude!
Glad it helped!
I needed this thanks Dan!! Oh dear, I think the most I got was like 7 average viewers a year... XD
You got this! Hope it helps:)
This video has shown me the true importance of having a quality twitch channel. I've been grinding the same game for 4 yrs and could not seem to figure it out. Going to give this a shot and see what happens!
This video took away my anxiety about covid 🙏
Well thats a compliment I guess! Haha thank you!
thanks so much for the pointers. I will apply all of this, seeing your point of view really changed how I'm looking at streaming.
Glad it was helpful!
Me: immediately buys dark souls lol
Tbf it is amazing 😂
Thank you! I'm a new streamer but a bit older and feel like you gave me an intro to streaming culture. I updated my stream channel just now.
Age is but a number! Hope you are having a blast!
check out my video on how to talk to an empty chat! It might help :) ruclips.net/video/sMXRFXGZJd4/видео.htmlsi=itId_NpoigexrjF1
Hey man I just wanted to say I really appreciated this video, I recently just started my streaming journey on twitch a couple of days ago and this video has helped me identify so many mistakes I been making already. Thank you again, SeoHowt😂
Thanks so much!
Uhh, placeit isnt free anymore…
Uhh, this video was made 2 years ago…you’re acting like he gave misinformation lmao things change
@@cheesypastel He replied to it 10 months ago. He made the comment when it was a year later
no way i'm starting streaming and this came up in my recommended no way!
Thanks to you though, I've fixed up the descriptions and I'm ready for my next stream tomorrow!
i feel so bad for popw1zard 😭
Don’t worry I came clean to them eventually! They were super nice:)
Amazing video as always lad. Shout out to StankyPete for being such a cool lad!
Thanks so much homie!! What a lad!
Glad I could help!
I just started streaming and dude the back seating hurt my soul lol. this was a very informing video buddy. thank you for this. really appreciate it
I need justice for pop wizard 11:48
So glad I found your page! Plenty of streamers out there talk but show nothing, your channel is sooooo different in that aspect! Lots of info but worth while watching more than once. Will now take the education and go sort my stuff out, then let the shenanigans begin
This was the biggest informational video out of all the ones i have been watching to get better! Man thankyou!
Glad you enjoyed it!
As someone who wants to start streaming and doesn't even know where or how to start, this video is very educational! Thank you!!
I know I’m two years late but as a new streamer I was watching a lot of of videos of how to get better and try to grow. Your videos helped a lot! To the point that I I’ve hit affiliate just one month of streaming with an average viewers being between 3-5.
Bri bro this video is awesome. Thank you. As someone who just started out even though this is an older video i still feel like it applies
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much!
Super helpful! Been doing a heap of research while getting ready to start streaming myself. Great video!
Glad it was helpful!
What a great idea! Quality keeps getting higher and higher my man :)
Aww thank you!!
This video just got recommended to me and there were a lot of great tips here. The self promo in another stream and the "no backseating" killed me 😭 Great video ❤
First time I've been given advice and then shown that same advice in practice. Really great video!
Aww thank you so much!
Very welcome! I dont know how I came across your videos but I'm glad I did!
Definitely going to try this out more! Thank you for the video and value information!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey man I was feeling a bit down earlier with a lack of confidence and conflicting thought, but you've given me that spark I needed. Thanks so much.
The algorithm should be recommending this video more to aspiring streamers/content creators. It's awesome to see actual advice being put to the test.
This Video is so good idk why but i keep coming back to watch it all the time. It's funny, it's informative. One of the best Videos I've ever watched 👍
Wow, thanks!
This was a fun experiment to watch through. Just proves that you need to be ready to self critique and sometimes rethink what you are doing to make your streams better. Looking forward to the next video
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Of course your art needs to be good but without the constant interaction people will get bored and click off.
really cool approach and useful!
Glad you liked it
