@xTwoShoes Thank you for this intense rundown for aspiring streamers (per your advice, I won't say I am streamer, I swear!). Really appreciate you, but, the portion about the comments has me confused. So if we shouldn't comment about our streams on channels about our streams & how to improve them- what is the alternative? (sorry I was just under the impression it was a win-win and curious if what you said is in fact genuine advice.. because if a genuine connection is the better method (but still just to gain followers) - what is the difference? Or, what would be the proper way to go about that? Where's a good place (for new/small streamers) to network with other (larger) streamers that doesn't instantly upset the larger streamers? Not in any way trying to be rude whatsoever, just here to learn (from you :) and maybe even get above the poverty line some day. Thanks again, you have my gratitude!

This totally made me rethink how I approach stream titles. My original approach was trying to be informative and concise, but now I see that instead of telling the viewer what they're in for, I should aim to make the viewer morbidly curious enough to come find out for themselves 😂 Great vid!

    I love, this,
It's the first time I've seen someone not listing a bunch of things to do to make yourself stand out but rather ways of making yourself comfortable and find yourself and let others come to you.
Over the years I would create content while I was unemployed and between jobs and back then I only managed to do either one.
But coming back and deciding to start streaming on twitch, his point of just do it because it's fun makes sense, it has actually changed my life because I always used to go through the day like it was just another but the past week I'd always get excited to get back from work and just hit that "start stream" that for the first time in years I feel like my burnout is finally leaving and I have more energy 24/7

A way to help you "perform" with 0 viewers is to think ahead to the future where your stream is larger. The viewers will probably want to watch old VODs and you can think that it's them you are performing for. Quick Tip :D

All of these tips are really solid. I myself quickly realized streaming wasn’t enough to get where I wanted to be, even though I’m semi well established within my respective community. Making youtube videos, youtube shorts and tik toks from my streams while cutting off a day of the week that i streamed has both helped my mental AND my content game as I’ve pulled viewers and followers from my youtube. Thank you for making this video - even though I am already doing most of the things in this video this helps reassure me that I’m doing things correctly. You’re a great content creator!

This is great advice, especially talking to no one. It might suck at first, but to have that comfort of gaming and talking like there is an audience there before one shows up will help you so much when they do. Meet other streamers in their streams too. IRL and our own content is obviously most important but making time to be part of other communities of similar size or maybe a medium size will help you grow eventually too. I have been discovered simply by hanging out joking with the stream,er which turns into "hey, you stream?" a good clip will pop up"oh wow yeah you stream, I'm going to follow you" I've had it happen so many times. Become part of each others communities and I promise you will see genuine, organic growth. Also try to play other games that are smaller that don't have a viewer base you will get lost in like COD or Apex. Encourage your viewers/mods to clip moments in your stream or go back and clip moments yourself if you remember or did markers throughout stream.

Thank you very much for all your wonderful tips and insight for everyone looking to stream. I've always looked at myself as someone who has a pretty good shot at it, as I've grown to enjoy the whole process of livestreaming, the art of it, and ultimately a having an great understanding of things work. I'm someone who is very passionate on bringing the world around me a big smile while making them feel loved in my presence, and also spreading my artwork I do to so my others as well. During last year...I was very unmotivated and discouraged as I always had high expectations for myself that almost were never met, which now I understand to expect since considering of how small compared to others, and really not having much of an audience. However, I've grown to grasp what I really need to do in order for my goals to be realized, not having too many high expectations, and really just having fun with myself at the end of the day. That "dont get burnt out" fact hit so hard. I started editing content, got discouraged when the time I worked on the vids didn't exactly get the numbers so I streamed to at least get the interaction endorphins going. I grinded hella hard for like 5 or 6 years, doing something everyday with friends and some days had multiple streams a day. Then some mental shenanigans started happening where I questioned myself on what game to stream if I seemingly did everything already. Even with games that I haven't completed yet like Genshin are games I felt are just too repetitive to stream, while others I just wasn't feeling like playing let alone stream me not enjoying the game.
About two months ago I stopped streaming to heal from a surgery, and ngl there have been a few moments where I am watching a video and I get an almost DragonBall style of "power" boost in motivation to get back into content making, it legit feels that way and feels that dorky lol. I just feel like I can do it again since I missed out so much on doing anything. I even started to get an editing resourgance as well with watching Davinci Resolve vids n such.
I almost feel like I am going back around from where I started, having fun editing, streaming to possibly get more clips or just stream a group hangout. Honestly would put a tear in my eye if I wasn't a skeleton...

I made it a habit of recording myself to test any stream setting changes. It's a little more involved than having a second twitch account, but it gets the job done more or less. Also I'm pretty guilty of the "I'll go live in XXXX when I XXXX has happened."
It's such a weird thing because I always enjoy streaming when I do go live, but I get crazy anxiety when I think about doing it which ends up with me putting it off. Getting the "just do it" stuck in my head is a work in progress, but we're getting there.

As a DJ Streamer, I want to throw it out there for anyone who wants to DJ on twitch: you need a decent computer, a mic, and DJ software. You do NOT need a DJ controller board (but it needs to be your first purchase) as you can do everything by mapping it all to your keyboard.
Then move to a decent Hercules or pioneer controller, and decent wired headphones. Then maybe find a DJ pool with the music of your favorite genre, and subscribe to it so you have access to music.
The rest of the info in this video, though, is still very valuable even for DJ streaming.

You can enable bandwidth test mode to do a dummy stream with no actual output to twitch, but it will still upload to twitch servers just the same so you can test bitrate and PC performance this way.
For testing visuals and such you can record with the same encode settings and look that way.
Alternatively i know people who made an alt account just to test stream with.
      Hope any of this helped!

I had a passion for making a difference since I didn't hold a full time job, I decided last month to make streaming full time. I've been on Twitch for almost 4 years of 2023 and I've no growth despite my consistent uploads. We'll find our way eventually 🙂 Thanks Shoes!

Thank you for this currently studying a lot of these videos and writing stuff down, I legit have no setup or anything like that yet since I’m trying to convince my parents to get me a setup(on the cheap side since like you said expensive gear is useless right now and not good investment), but as soon as I can I will be using everything I’ve learned to start streaming and making videos and content, so seriously thank you for a good comprehensive video with great advice!

Twitch streaming is something I'd considered trying for years, and a couple weeks ago I finally started out with just a Logitech webcam and an $80 mic from Amazon. Its a basic set up, but it gets the job done. So far I mostly just have graphic designers popping into my chat and trying to hustle me into buying their services. I always turn them away saying I'm not interested. It's pretty annoying to have to deal with. I've got a few actual viewers who have returned a few times, but this is a slow grind for sure. The market for this is really oversaturated now, so I cant have any real designs that I'm gonna get huge with this. I just do it becuase its a fun little side project with a game a love, and if it takes off that would of course be amazing. In the meantime though, I wont quit my day job!

I started streaming like a month ago and so far my channel's growth has been amazing (at 73 rn) with me having an average of 4 viewers almost each stream. But usually unless one of the regulars is there, the chat is usually very stagnant, but I'm hopeful, streaming is once of the most fun things I have done so far
