Thanks mr craftin man. Love your vids
I feel like my grandpa is secretly making a whole show in the basement and whispering because the rest of the family is asleep upstairs.
Yeah but do you have any chicken?
@@haitas8501 he does
LOL
Well it’s confirmed
@@haitas8501 do you
The Bob Ross of sculpting. Oh wow. Unexpected ASMR /and/ sculpture work? Best way I could’ve spent my evening.
Just a minute in, and I was thinking the exact same thing lol
I thought the exact same things
Whats ASMR?
You sound like a late night radio host, have a calming effect and are creative as can be. Keep on going, you are killing it !
Mannnnnn, thank you for that!
its more like asamar
@@shushantikabarua6682 yup
Completely agree Mike
Yea he sounds like bob Ross to me atleats
Hey Crafsman! I'm a high school teacher. I shared this video with one of my art teacher colleagues, and she was impressed. Here's what she said: "This guy is really cool. It is important that I expose AP Art and Design students to contemporary artists, what inspires theses artists and how they create from their idea. This fits right in. I think I will use this as one of the videos that I show my students." I thought you might want to know that your work is finding its way into our school and helping our students. Keep on steady craftin'!

Excellent point!
This man is the reason I have resin, clay, and sculpting set in my amazon cart lol
That's very encouraging! I hope you enjoy sculpting! :D
"did I tell you we have chickens? we have chickens" I love it!
I just subscribed
Haha! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Likewise 😁

That’s what make the Crafsman so awesome. Love his sense of humor! 😂
Snap
Not a lot of people who make toys like to share their secrets or they process. Ive spoken to a handful of fairly well known Figure Artists and the response was always "you just kinda figure it out".
You sir are a damn saint for showing us this process thank you
I'm very happy to share my process and I hope you're able to use some of this in your own creations!
You just kinda "figure" it out.
i think that was a joke
Totally! I've been wanting to make my own action figures for a couple of years and i couldn't find many information even on the materials to use. This is too helpful!
@@mbaine2 you NAILED that pun...
Get it?
Too remember it’s probably not personal rather then telling someone how to sculpt is more then a paragraph could tell its multiple days and classes or atleast a decent sized speach and these artists are probably busy or have things theyd rather do then sit and explain everything to someone they dont know and when you have multiple people asking everyday it becomes more difficult to help everyone out, i don’t believe they necessarily Dont want to help you rather then they dont have the time
"You just hang with it, see where it goes, and don't give up"
Words to live by.
Glad you liked that! :)
Sincerely. Life advice we should all apply.
I read this as he said it o.o
Using aluminum to save on clay is such a wild reality we live in in modern times. Until not but a hundred or so years ago aluminum was more rare and precious than gold, and clay was, well, a certain kind of mud. Just a funny thing to think about!
Alex Bottom wow I never knew that but I know that sugar was really precious back then
I thought the inner structure is for support so that clay won't sag before it gets dry.
@@guestwho552 not really, sometimes but not always
It would take forever for the middle to harden
Also he is using a two part epoxy, but people use aluminum foil with sculpting clay in the same way
I was just looking for some kind of tutorial to make a custom action figure, and oh boy this is gold.
Glad you found it, Jess! And if you're interested in different types of resin, like for durable bendy arms and legs, I've got a video just about resin comparisons. Hope this info is helpful!
You're a real treasure, Crafsman. The smoooth, jazzy Bob Ross of craftin
Super nice of you to say! Thank you for checking it out!
Aquaswiss my thoughts exactly
I was going to write that but I knew at least one person said it in the comment hahaha
I was having some bad days for a minute, bummin, feeling pretty low about some things and staying isolated for a few nights. I clicked on your video thinking to get some pointers on sculpting and molding... and I am really glad I did cause I got so much more. Not only was it helpful with tips and techniques, your positivity, creativity and wholesome attitude lightened my heart considerably. Thank you CrafsMan, you brought a warm smile to my face in a dark time and I really appreciate that. I'm gonna hang with it, see where it goes and don't give up. I'll be steadywatchin now, steadypositive and steadycraftin! Blessings
I like your vibes, man. You seem so authentic and quirky. It makes me feel comforted to see people just enjoying themselves.
You are better than Xanax my dude. Literally reminds me of watching mr Rodgers or Bob Ross as a kid. Best compliment I can give.
“It’s not perfect” dude is beautiful what are you talking about? I love your work.
Seriously. It looks amazing!
Can someone please get Crafsman a show on Adult Swim?? I'm not even joking, this is Emmy material!
Chris, thank you so much, my man! That’s encouraging!
Love your videos. How do Iget to your Etsy shop??
I love your toys and chicken astronaut! I love your hand Puppet! So cute!
Forreal he could do something like robot chicken or something
Your videos are so calming, please don't ever label them asmr
Thank you for watching, and for the feedback!
May I ask why?
frozenpretzels I wouldn't because they're so much more than that. Sure, his voice is really calming, and that's awesome and can be considered ASMR on its own, but the lesson given and experience shared exceeds the RUclips buzzword (buzz-acronym?) of "ASMR". I get why book readings and nature walks by Crafsman would be labeled as such, but the majority of the videos on this channel is way more than ASMR and they (Vexadros) probably don't want to see an amazing channel fall victim to clickbait-y titles (even though I myself doubt that will ever happen). Take an episode from Bob Ross's painting show; his voice and the sounds are calming, but it's not solely labeled ASMR because 1. His show aired before it was such a trending topic, and more importantly 2. There is a lot more content, more like a blend of knowledge and amazing sounds and humor and everything in between. Sorry for the wall of text but I was kinda bored. Have a great day (:
@@garretth4225 I absolutely agree
I'm glad to read this! It helps me understand how people look at what I do. Really I would like to make something that appeals to absolutely everybody, but I'm just not slick enough to even know how to accomplish that. I'll keep on sharing some DIY things, and showing y'all stuff I think is neat, and just take joy in knowing people also find it maybe relaxing at the same time. :) I seriously appreciate y'all very much.
The longer this went on the more satisfying your voice got.
fr at first i was like??? and at the end i was like daddy???
"I wanna hang a map of the world in my house. Then I'm gonna put pins into all the locations that I've traveled to. But first, I'm gonna have to travel to the top two corners of the map, so it won't fall down" - Mitch Hedberg (Crafsman's previous alias)

Hi Mr. Craftsman. Thank you for these videos. I suffer from extremely bad anxiety and my counselor suggested I watch your videos. Your voice is so soothing. Plus I am learning a lot from you. I want to try a few of your crafts.
Wow. This is so encouraging. I hope your anxiety lessens, my friend. I also battle generalized anxiety disorder and moderate depression, so this comment is very special to me. Thank you for sharing, and I wish you the absolute best!
I am a hairdresser by profession. You are extremely talented.
"I be working over here and then I come back and this be all whoopty-doo". One of the funniest phrases I've ever heard, by golly
Hahaha! Glad you enjoyed it!
Sometimes I come back, and my whole life be whoopty-doo. Then I watch the CrafsMan and everything's alright again.
Oh snap, Bearded Emperor! That's a very nice comment right there! :D
I wish I could give this a thumbs up more than once. Your practical insights into the technical process along with how that guides the decisions in your creative process are solid gold.
I like how with his gloves it looks like he is invetigsting evidence, and then when he drew the chicken, i imagined he was a police sketch artist and would say "is this the man you saw?" XD idk i think its funny
LOL! Nobody has ever said that before! :D Glad you enjoyed this!
@@TheCrafsMan yeah i did! Thanks for making it! :)
Oh gosh I wasn't the only one thinking it haha so awesome!
Watching this video is how it all got started for me! Crafsman if it wasn't for you I wouldn't be doing this or, if you prefer, if I am now crafting you are the only one to blame! Grazie!!!
People like you are the reason why i love youtube. Sensational work with a positive attitude. Wish you all the success.
A 25 minute video? Crafsman you bless us more and more with every video! Love you and all your content you put out! Keep on steady crafting!
GLAD you like it, my friend! I wasn't sure if it would ever get uploaded. Biggest video so far. LOL!
Best thing I’ve ran into on a RUclips random video binge ever
Glad you found my videos. Thanks for giving me a chance! :D
Same!!!
Don’t know how I’ve gone this long in my life without finding this guy. His videos are better than watching Bob Ross. I get a lot of anxiety with art projects for unknown reason. His videos are like having an art mentor there to tell you in a soft voice, “It’s gonna be alright ma brutha”. If this was Yelp, I would give 5 stars!
Crafsman, I'm a pretty recent subscriber. Only been a couple of weeks. Today, I'm at home trying to remain comfortable as I nurse myself through a bad gastrointestinal illness. I decided to rewatch you making your Free Range Chicken after getting some chicken soup and just wanted to say thank you. Your soft voice, words of encouragement, and sincerity have been a wonderful balm on my troubled spirit and are now making this journey on the road to recovery a bit more tolerable and helping me to stay relaxed and rested. With lots of love, thank you Crafsman. May the road rise up to meet you and your loved ones forever and a day.
This is one of the best youtube discoveries I've seen 🥰

Kristin, I can't get enough of these kinds of comments! :D All the best to you in your sculpture-making! So happy you enjoyed my video, and that I was able to be of some help. :)
It's an amazing feeling when you can create something out of a sketch. It's Priceless. I'm still loving every vid I've watch so far. Awesome work.
So glad I found your channel! My 7 year old son wants to be an artist and drew out every single Ben 10 figure he could think of since the age of 5. This month of August he created his very own action figure art, then asked me if there was a way to make it into a toy figure? He told me he wants to be and artist and a toy maker when he is older. I reached out to the Ben 10 creators to see if they would send my son a message to at least say good job and anything is possible. I have gotten nothing. I was in no way looking for him to become famous, but to lift his spirits to show him he is heard and recognized by people he admires. I realize we need to make our own dreams come true and so I decided to search on RUclips how to make a toy...it led me to you. Thank you for making these videos and being humble. I don't know if I can follow these steps to create his art into a toy, but I will try with him. Maybe it will create a hilarious and heart warming memory of us giving it a try.
Hey Jennifer! Thank you so much for watching my channel, and taking time to leave this comment. It really got my heart stirred up this morning, and I wanted to holler back and see if I can be of help. Please email me:
thecrafsman@gmail.com
If you are 100% OK with it, my wife and I would like for you to email y'all's mailing address. We'd like to put together a care package for your son, along with an encouraging note. I've got some ideas that may help, as well as some sculpting materials, and some figures/toys, just for fun, I mean... for "inspiration" (that's my excuse for buying them! :D), along with a few other items. You don't know how bad we want to see little man achieve his dreams. If we can participate in some small way, it would be a blessing. And I have to say... thank YOU for being such a wonderful and supportive mother.
@@TheCrafsMan I realized reaching out to you is far more better then reaching out to the unreachable of celebrities and the famous. As a mom my heart is big with tears because of people like you in this world willing to acknowledge an ordinary mom who sees her kiddo passionate about art with a big imagination. I will be emailing you as soon as I am done homeschooling. Thank you with all my heart...this will mean the world to him.
The dedication to respond to all the comments, respect from england.
Well, I appreciate y’all taking time to encourage me, so as long as I can, I’ll try to holler back. Thank you! :)

Your videos are so ASMR. Love the sounds and your soothing voice. And the sculpting, ofcourse!
Your voice!!! When I feel depressed can I just call you up... so soothing!
I love this so much. I had a beloved hen, Nancy, who traveled with me all over the West for years. I'm making her now to keep me company again!
I've just been spending the past hour watching your videos before bed! And lo and behold you uploaded a new video! So happy!

Excellent video. Fantastic that you showed many drawings & how relaxed you are about the process & admitting mistakes. I think anyone would be inspired to try sculpting after this ! Love how you described asymmetry! That chicken is fantastic.
Such a nice comment, Margaret! I'm so glad you found my channel, and hope you continue to enjoy what I do! :D

@sandstorm9562 Thanks, fixed.
Me too, I hope people at toy companies see this because I know of lots of companies that sell those little weird figures in random boxes with different paint jobs and his style is exactly on point with that
Your voice is borderline asmr and it's wonderful to listen to. So smooth.
Well thank you so much!
Stumbled across this randomly... I've been sculpting off and on for nearly 4 years now and know the toy making process quite well.... But somehow you make it all so captivating!
And your character design is fantastic, this concept genuinely made me chuckle!

Wow... this means so much coming from someone with experience in that area. Thank you!
You are very talented and a generous teacher. I learned a lot from this project.
So glad to hear that!
I’m honestly so happy to have come across this video. I have been wanting to sculpt for a while now and it’s been oddly hard for me to find videos on it, let alone going all the way through the process with no speed-through. I really appreciate and enjoy this and your voice is the cherry on top! Very calming!! Excellent content all the way around, sir.
Danielle, I'm so happy to read your comment this morning! It's rewarding for me to see this. Thank you for checking it out, and I hope you do get into sculpting! Don't freeze up when you approach it - just let loose and plan on making mistakes. Have fun! :D
These videos have made me smile more than most things have lately
wow what an immaculate voiceover. super calming. kudos
Crafsman, you make it look so easy. I didn't realize how much work goes into a project like that.
Oh yeah... The eyeball rolling away when you dropped it was hilarious!
LOL! Glad you liked that part. It was definitely unplanned, but I had to keep it in there. :)
I also love that part, I was hoping it was still intact.
"Did I tell yall we have chickens?" I am dying laughing for some reason.
I like your narration. Shows your inspiration. Inspiration is the top requirement for creativity
That means a lot to me!
I have watched a lot of how to videos, but I have never seen anything like this. Very unique. Thank you
That's very encouraging to me! Thank you!
I’m having the most fun! You’re such a powerhouse of creativity and have such excellent tips and techniques - you’re an inspiration. Thank you for sharing! I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos since last night and have learned so much. Plus your voice is just so relaxing and soothing to me. Like a warm hug 🥰
I've never seen people sand modeling material online before. Really opened my mind to the material. Looking forward to watching more, cheers
Hey Samuel! Glad you checked it out! This is honestly about the only way I'm comfortable doing this. I've actually made characters before almost totally out of wood, because I feel better subtracting material than adding and smoothing what I've added. :)
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin Hey! That’s funny because one would think that adding would be easier. But to add, you then have to give form, and I guess subtracting does both on the same step. Whoa. Deep thoughts...
Love your chickens! My old neighbour had two chickens named Curry and Jerk! I could listen to you speak all day...💜
Aww, thank you! We're grateful for our hens. They steady give us about 5 eggs a day, so we try to be good to them. :)

I sure do remember, my friend! In fact, a few of y'all asked about how I make the figures, and that led me to do this. So thank you for the suggestion! I really do hope this is helpful to you in making your own sculptures!
His voice Is so warm and chill

This video is fantastic. Subbed.
"Craftsman, you always wear gloves." "You know it." Love this guy.
Safety, my man! :D Thanks for watching!
Also never in a million years would I have guessed that the sculptures have a tinfoil inside. It's super clever though.
:D It's a good way to go, because it keeps the whole thing from sagging down, and it definitely saves on sculpting material, be it clay, epoxy, etc.
My six-year-old loved this! It's so hard to find good content that's both entertaining and informative. Thank you
Okay so I just found CrafsMan three and a half hours ago and I'm still watching and I feel like I could spend the rest of my evening/life doing so
Wow. Melanie, this is a very encouraging comment. Thank you so much.
It comes at a good time, too! It has been so difficult to make regular content lately.
My last video was an animation that took about 4 weeks and got very few views - so I'm trying to shift back into "regular video" mode. :) I hope you enjoy the other videos!

I appreciate that SO, SO much, my friend. Truly. I'm really trying my best to give y'all good information, and not be boring or get carried away too far in one direction. This feedback is taken to heart.
I love that two-part sculpt stuff. I love how you can sculpt it, use water on it, and all the things you can do with it after it hardens.

I'm doing wonderful, thank you for asking, and you are welcome!
Out of all other art forms I think sculpting is one of the harder ones!
I agree! It really is for me, as you can see by my slow, pieces-at-a-time approach that I do. I've seen people take a single blob and turn it into a finished piece, and that truly impresses me.
