@@TheCrafsMan did you thin down your paint with water? It looked pretty hard to spread and use. If not, trying using some water next time, it helps a lot. Not too much, or then it becomes too thin and hard to apply. Plus, since the layer will be thinner, it's gonna be harder to leave brush strokes in the paint, it will save time later (you don't have to sand it to delete the brush marks)
@@TheCrafsMan If you go the blister card way, I'd like to see how that works. Most bootleg customizers out there like to act all rude and elitist over that like they've got some super-secret trade secret Krusty Crab recipe thing goin' on.

Pinky tip when painting is on point- I've painted miniatures for years and that is one of the best tips for new painters. Many thin coats, washes, dry brushing, blending on the eyes... First time watcher and now subscriber. I’m a 31 year old graphic design student and a Air Force Veteran and I’ve been wanting to make my own character from sketch to model. You are a idol for any adult still wanting to create and be imaginative. Love your videos!
This means so much to me, Rylicia. I want to first say thank you for your service in the Air Force. Next, I think it's great that you're going to school for graphic design! PLEASE do go forward with your character! To be honest with you, I was just making a video and off the cuff decided on the "Free-Range Chicken", because I figured it was at least a little funny, and that I should be able to model it. Now my wife and I are making plastic casts of the figure, getting them ready for sale in early November. I did't think that would happen like this, and it has been a wonderful surprise. I say all that to say this: It seems like we do some of our neatest things when we're just having fun, and maybe even being silly. When you get ready to make your character, just loosen up and think about how the young version of you would approach that character. :D All the best to you! Thank you for watching!
Craftsman you are awesome, the wife and I love watching you ....and I agree the free range chicken is an action figure "look at this." You have put a smile on our faces and we just wanna say thank you.
Oh, snap! That detailing on the suit makes her look like a figure by Playmobil! (Which means she's an action figure by default.) A few other thoughts: 1. That old telephone. Until physical tours of the CrafsShop are available, I would love another video (or twelve -- no pressure 😉) of your collections. They bring back memories of being at my grandparents' house. 2. Would it be possible to purchase a set of goggles? I'd like to do a steampunk Free Range Chicken, and they would be perfect. 3. SPACECLUCKS would make an awesome short (five or so minutes per episode) animated series, voiced by Your Host, the CrafsMan. 😉 4. Merch. Maybe a t-shirt with a design on the front of the CrafsPuppet saying, "Hello," and a small "SteadyCraftin" logo on the back (near the neckline)? Or a design incorporating the phrase, "Oh, SNAP! I'm SteadyCraftin"? There's a website called TeeTurtle that features a lot of cute craft-themed apparel & puns ("I'm Pro-craft-inating") that I'm thinking of as a visual reference. Ok, I've probably got you completely discombogulated by now. Thank you for all your hard work & your commitment to your viewers. Take care & God bless. 💙
Courtney Zeo, always with the wonderful comments! :D I appreciate you so much. I'm going to have to show y'all about that telephone, and maybe include some other things, like the mysterious "blasting box" I showed briefly in another video. Will look into maybe having some "accessories" that fit the Free-Range Chicken, if it's popular enough. I like that! "Spaceclucks"... the name alone is worth doing something with. LOL! Been thinking about shirts, but not sure if we're there yet. On my mind, though. Thank you!

This has been my absolute favorite video of yours. I've made coasters from your wood-transfer videos, I've made cabochons into fridge magnets and pendants, and I've sent them to the people I love. They've teared up from the gesture, and that's all because of you. Thank you.
I love your videos. I just found your channel a couple of days ago. I love it when you were playing with the chicken and went on a tangent of Earl Grey.

I found the first free range chicken video when i was having a bad day and it made me feel so much better. It's so obvious how genuinely you love creating and I think it's so sweet and amazing to watch
All this time I thought my paint was just too thick it was no good. But now thanks to you, I know if it's too thick and goopy, mooshe, goopy, collapee, all I have to do is add some water to it and it's all good. Thanks TheCraftsMan, U ROCK!!
You could put a little of the fake hay stuff at the bottom of the package so it won't get hurt in the box and you have some farm realism. Anyways your videos are great and they make me remember that there are good people at the end of hard days. Keep steady craftin sir😊.
There is few things as soothing as listening to you working. Kind of the modern Bob Ross of sculpting. Always watch your vids while working on my own stuff. Thanks man, and keep it up!
Me and my friend found your channel yesterday while watching videos on how to print to wood, gotta say your videos are awesome and I love your positive energy! Definitely a Crafsman fan now. Continue to videos please! Oh and steady craftin 🙏🏼
I love your positivity and your humor. You make me feel like I'm not just watching someone on a video, but visiting with an old friend while he crafts. Be blessed. 🙏
Hey Crafsman!!! My husband, son and myself found your vidyahs about a week ago. We have been watching daily. We enjoy you so much. Keep on craftin. Thank you for the joy you bring!
Hey Crafsman. I'm a professional illustrator and I've been painting professionally for almost 10 years. Love your videos. Just wanted to drop a few tips for keeping your brushes nice and in good condition. I noticed that your purple brush had some flaking paint and the tip was a little wobbly. Also I saw that you keep your brushes in your water a lot. I'd suggest keeping your brushes on a clean paper towel next to your water source when your not using them to paint. This prevents the water from soaking up into the wood and causing it to expand. When it the wood dries it will contract and cause the paint on the handle to flake off. Over time it will also cause the metal tip holding the brush fibers/hairs to become loose and it may fall off entirely. When your ready to clean your brushes you can use regular dish soap or Masterson's brush cleaner and preserver to remove any paint from the tip. If you use just a bit of left over soap to shape the tip and let that dry it will keep your brush tip in good shape. I know you said some of the brushes you had were cheaper ones so it's probably not that big a deal. But if you have some nice brushes in your collection this will help keep them around for many years. Again Love your videos I hope this helps in some way.
I like this advice, RAR! Thanks so much! Really! If you have any advice on brushes (like red sable or whatever will give me better results), please feel free to email me: thecrafsman@gmail.com I'm always wanting to learn!
Paint made for miniatures will take your painting to a whole other level! The pigment is made extra small so the paint goes on much more smooth and even :)
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin I use army painter myself as well! Games workshop has some awesome premade washes too, and they dry up way prettier than homemade washes
Your "Free-Range Chicken" is a piece of art, Crafsman. Please sign and number each one of your amazing pieces. Love all of your videos and your positive attitude. I know you are steady-busy, but I think we would all love some SteadyCraftin mugs :)
We love you, too, CrafsMan! Proud to be a supporter (even if it isn’t for much $). I’d love to buy a chicken when they are available to keep me company as I carve. (I’m a wood carver). I really LOVED the goggles. So so cool over those big eyes. Blessings to you and the Mrs.
Aww, thank you so much, Susan! I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos and can't thank you enough for the support! Can't wait to get a chicken to you! :D
Just when I think you've made your best video yet, you make a better one!! Love this, and as soon as Beek Anderson shows up on etsy I'll be there to pick one up! Love your work, Love your videos. Stay cool.
You're a good dude, Crafsman. That space chicken looks even cooler than I thought it would be now that you painted it. Keep it going. Thanks for what you do.
If you use an emery board or a nail file with a little silver paint on, it'll scratch the paint into the surface. Good for doing damaged or scratched metal effects. Love the positivity of this channel
Great job painting, you are my favorite RUclipsr now! Your positive and calm attitude is a real pleasure to listen to, and you have so much to teach. Keep up the great work. Loved the goggles.
Dear CrafsMan, I feel so blessed to have found you today! I so enjoy your videos, drawings, characters, materials, sculpting, sanding, extruding, molding and making techniques--but most of all your gentle, conversational narration and humble disposition! You are just a delight to watch, listen to and learn from. I am now INSPIRED, and thoroughly look forward to watching all your videos and following your channel. What a fantastic RUclipsr you are! Thank you and God bless you.
Thank you! Probably somewhere around $15, if not a few dollars more, based on materials and time so far. Still dividing things out. I didn't want to make it a $50 "designer figure" or anything. I'm hoping what we're thinking is reasonable.
Mr. Craftsman I really do love and appreciate all the effort u and ur wife are putting into into each of these chickens! but could u also sell a couple of plain white ones so I can paint them myself after purchasing? If not it's okay I love the channel and all ur content Also that voice is so soothing c:
They'll really ALL be plain white / DIY figures, my friend! :D This was just showing y'all one example of how I would paint one, but I MORE excited about how y'all will paint them. :D
Try using water to dilute the paint so when you paint it on the streaks dont show up as much, might take more layers, but the smooth finish is nice! (But the paint strokes dont look that bad from what i can see)
Love your videos! Nothing you did was wrong! Hard to believe others critique videos, when its not their's. So rude! You rock Crafsman! Having fun matters most and your endless creativity is inspiring!
What tickles me is with the past few videos, I can count on this one dislike in particular, AS SOON as a video comes out. If it's a 15 minute video, I'll get a dislike 5 minutes after the video is released. LOL! I feel like hometown is subscribed JUST SO he can dislike. :D But thank you to all y'all who LIKE my videos!
I've always been interested in painting, especially miniatures and the like that come in board games. After watching your video I think I'm finally going to have to take the plunge and get started! Thanks Crafsman!
I think you are absolutely fantastic. To do the work to make these videos, and choose to have a hand on every single one of these figures is truly inspiring. I can't thank you enough for putting these videos out, because it's such a pleasure to watch them. Thank you so much for all that you do, I'm taking a little time to send some of those blessings you send us right back your way, and know that i will try my best to pay it forward.
Jacob, I appreciate it so much, from the bottom of my heart. Like I said to someone earlier: Comments like this end up being a gift I get back from y'all.
That pinstripe on the suit was a nice touch! I'd never seen that technique before. You're too modest CrafsMan...Your painting skills are quite good. Nice job!
:D I forgot to mention Mitch Hedberg in the video. To be honest, that's one of the voices, going back and listening to him (I only ever saw him when he was alive, on TV talk shows) that I can honestly say, I can kinda see where people are coming from.
I appreciate your reply :) You're a rare person, Mr. Crafsmann. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. It really shows how much you love what you do.
I wish i had your creativity. I can sculpt and mold and cast, but i can never think of original ideas. All ive done is make stuff based on existing brands. Your stuff is really neat and I love the style and humor behind it.
Well thank you so much! But I have to say - don't underestimate your creativity! You've got it - just got to maybe chase it and grab hold of it. Just let lose and see what happens without beating yourself up over it at first. Refine it later. Have fun. We're our most creative when we're like kids, I believe. :)

You are talented beyond words and the fact that you share your talents and knowledge is truly a gift to we viewers. I really hope you are the same in person as you are in your videos! The world needs more you.
Hey Preston! What I think I'll do is give y'all a heads-up on Facebook/Instagram/RUclips Community section about "These fidna hit Etsy shelves in two days" or something like that. :D Thank you for your interest!

This has been my absolute favorite video of yours. I've made coasters from your wood-transfer videos, I've made cabochons into fridge magnets and pendants, and I've sent them to the people I love. They've teared up from the gesture, and that's all because of you. Thank you.
WOW, Patrick. Wow. This does my heart good. Y'all are overwhelming me with these comments today. Thank you so much.
'Some lil' bumpy bump thang like dat' : ))))) Your powers of description are a joy
LOL! ;) Glad you liked that.
Thank you for giving us the best of you. The world need this kind'a-thing!
Wow. You're so welcome, and thank you for the encouragement!
My husband and I just discovered your channel, and we can't stop giggling! We'll be watching ALLLLLLL your videos!
Glad y'all enjoy it! :D
I love your videos. I just found your channel a couple of days ago. I love it when you were playing with the chicken and went on a tangent of Earl Grey.
Stressful week: politics out of whack, stock market flopping in n out- only good thing lately is your calming, fun video brotha! Keep on creating.
Mannnnnnnnnnn, this makes me smile. Seriously, just knowing I can have some calming effect on someone in these catawompus times is a big deal to me. Thank you!
The goggles were SUCH a good idea. Great ending, blessings to you and your family as well.
I'm glad you liked that! Thanks so much for the support!
My friend, you are the best. My kids love sitting with me and watching every episode.
Kento, that makes me smile big! Hope you and your kids continue enjoying my videos! :)
Nothing better than a CrafsMan video to start the weekend! .....loveeee your work and SUPER educational as well! ♥
Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you like what I do! :D
Finding this channel is the best thing that happened to me this year. Brings back the pure joy of crafting.
“Look at Earl Grey back there. Hello.” 🤣🤣🤣 This is the best channel ever!
LOL! Thank you so much!
This channel is such a relief from all the constant drama. The way you go about making these light-hearted videos is a blessing.
So glad you enjoy what I do!
CRAFSMAN!!!!!!! My son and I need you to make a aweomse turtle figure!!! My son is already excited about taking the Free Ranger as he calls the chicken on our hiking trips. Love you videos love your figures can't wait to see more
Thank you and your son for the idea! I've got me a little list of character ideas going, and that is going on it now! :) I like "Free Ranger"!
Free Ranger Needs An Instagram!
I found the first free range chicken video when i was having a bad day and it made me feel so much better. It's so obvious how genuinely you love creating and I think it's so sweet and amazing to watch
:) Lauren, this is so encouraging. Thank you!
All this time I thought my paint was just too thick it was no good. But now thanks to you, I know if it's too thick and goopy, mooshe, goopy, collapee, all I have to do is add some water to it and it's all good. Thanks TheCraftsMan, U ROCK!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! Mannnnn, this made me crack up. Thank you for watching!
The free range chickens came out amazing!! You’re amazing, craftsman! Keep doing you!!!
Thanks so much, Mae!
You could put a little of the fake hay stuff at the bottom of the package so it won't get hurt in the box and you have some farm realism. Anyways your videos are great and they make me remember that there are good people at the end of hard days. Keep steady craftin sir😊.
This is such a good idea!!!
I read this to my wife and her eyes lit up! I don't know if we'll be able to pull it off, but that is a really great idea!
@@TheCrafsMan just be careful this doesn't trip up any customs for agriculture issues (having unspecified vegetation)
There is few things as soothing as listening to you working. Kind of the modern Bob Ross of sculpting. Always watch your vids while working on my own stuff. Thanks man, and keep it up!
So glad you're enjoying the channel! I really appreciate the support! :)
Me and my friend found your channel yesterday while watching videos on how to print to wood, gotta say your videos are awesome and I love your positive energy! Definitely a Crafsman fan now. Continue to videos please! Oh and steady craftin 🙏🏼
I'm so glad you took a chance and are enjoying my videos! Thanks so much!
I like that you did a thin paint wash. That always looks good. Weathering is so fun
It has to be the funnest part of painting for me. Second place goes to dry-brushing. :)
Sarah, I appreciate y'all so much! :D Knowing I bring joy to someone is a gift back to me! :)
Really! If you have any advice on brushes (like red sable or whatever will give me better results), please feel free to email me: thecrafsman@gmail.com
I'm always wanting to learn!
I was told that you can also run your brush over a bar of soap after cleaning, and this will help keep them formed, and in good condition.
@@animallovefest143 Absolutely! That also works. I forgot to mention that as an alternative.
@@rar7437 Thank you for confirming that 😊 Christina
My Graffics dept. boss showed me how to shape a freshly washed brush with your mouth. Saliva sticks the bristles together.
Paint made for miniatures will take your painting to a whole other level! The pigment is made extra small so the paint goes on much more smooth and even :)
I'm going to look into that. I've got some "Army Painter" stuff in my Amazon list now, thanks to another viewer. :D
TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin I use army painter myself as well! Games workshop has some awesome premade washes too, and they dry up way prettier than homemade washes
Im so happy I found this channel. After a bad week this lit up my heart. Thanks Craftman for being so delightful :)
Aww, I'm glad to help! Hope things get to gettin better for you!
Your "Free-Range Chicken" is a piece of art, Crafsman. Please sign and number each one of your amazing pieces. Love all of your videos and your positive attitude. I know you are steady-busy, but I think we would all love some SteadyCraftin mugs :)
Thank you so much, my friend! :D
PS Love the telephone - wish they were still like that! Looks very old and interesting.
Thanks, JE Lee! I'm going to show y'all what those old phones were capable of. Very interesting. :)
I paint with acrylics all the time and I don't believe any form of art has a "right way" keep on steady crafting Crafsman you doing great!
Thanks so much, Kristina! Good to hear that! :)
I can’t wait to order a free range chicken 🐓 👍🏽
I couldn't find them on Etsy are they up yet?

@@SheldonHerringWexler thx so much! I should have watched the whole video before I commented this. 😂
Thank y'all so much! We can't wait to release them!
Bro! That's a wicked slick yard bird, my friend!
Mannnn, thank you! :D Glad you like it!
I love it! Start to finish the free-range chicken is FANTASTIC!!!!
So happy you've enjoyed this! :D
Just when I think you've made your best video yet, you make a better one!! Love this, and as soon as Beek Anderson shows up on etsy I'll be there to pick one up! Love your work, Love your videos. Stay cool.
Mannnnnn, Andrew! Thank you so much for this. Super encouraging, as always. And I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with one of these!
I love your voice it is so mellow and really relaxing
Glad to hear it, Jaycee! Very encouraging. :)
This is the first video I’ve ever seen of yours but I already love you
Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoy some of my other videos! :D
You're a good dude, Crafsman. That space chicken looks even cooler than I thought it would be now that you painted it. Keep it going. Thanks for what you do.
Man, Lee... thank you so much! Happy you liked how it turned out!
Glad I had my notifications on for your videos. So I could watch as soon as you upload!
I'm glad you did too! Thank you for checking it out. :)
Another classic, Crafsman! It was great seeing it from sketch to finish. I can't wait to invite one into my home!
:D Thanks so much!
lol "I got the shaky shake " TFF, you should coin it, and put it on a T shirt. Edit , I wish you a lot of luck with the free-range chicken.
LOL! Glad you liked that, my man! Thanks for watching, and for the kind words.
If you use an emery board or a nail file with a little silver paint on, it'll scratch the paint into the surface. Good for doing damaged or scratched metal effects. Love the positivity of this channel
Thank you, Jay!
Exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!!
Glad to hear that, Jacob! :D
Great job painting, you are my favorite RUclipsr now! Your positive and calm attitude is a real pleasure to listen to, and you have so much to teach.
Keep up the great work. Loved the goggles.
Very nice of you, Peter! Thanks so much for checking out my channel!
It is just funny how you say Etsy 😂 nice video Mr. Crafsman! I am hoping to make just like your stuffs..
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks so much for watching and I hope you do get going on making things!
I appreciate this SO MUCH! :D Glad you found my little RUclips channel, and hope you like what I put up next. :D
I've never done any sculpting before but, damn, your vids sure is inspiring me to start sculpting my own characters. I love watching these. Kudos! :D
I hope you do! Thanks so much for watching. :D
Love that little guy. Going to pick me up one if its in my budget. Keep em coming Crafts Man! Living these videos.
If not it's okay I love the channel and all ur content
Also that voice is so soothing c:
They'll really ALL be plain white / DIY figures, my friend! :D This was just showing y'all one example of how I would paint one, but I MORE excited about how y'all will paint them. :D
@@TheCrafsMan Oh! My bad sorry c:> thank u again for everything Mr. Craftsman!
No problem, Yanz! I appreciate YOU!
The world is so much better with you in it teaching all of us such cool things!
Try using water to dilute the paint so when you paint it on the streaks dont show up as much, might take more layers, but the smooth finish is nice! (But the paint strokes dont look that bad from what i can see)
Great tip! Thank you for watching, and for helping me out! I bet I could also get hold of a better brush, which would help too. :)
Love your videos! Nothing you did was wrong! Hard to believe others critique videos, when its not their's. So rude!
You rock Crafsman! Having fun matters most and your endless creativity is inspiring!
A channel of fun and uplifting positivity! Thank you for sharing Mr. CrafsMan!
Glad you like it, Daniel! Thank you for watching!
I would like to know who the one person was who disliked your video. Because I love all of them
It was a chicken who was rejected by the Free Range Space Program.
Courtney: L O L ! ! !
Absolutely love your videos. I usually watch them to relax. Your voice is nice and soothing. Thank you Crafsman for being you.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad my videos can help people. :)
*Look at Earl Grey back there.*
I've always been interested in painting, especially miniatures and the like that come in board games. After watching your video I think I'm finally going to have to take the plunge and get started! Thanks Crafsman!
I hope you do, Ian! Thank you so much for watching! :)
"Look at Earl Grey right there. Hello"😂😂😂😂
I've been waiting for this.
Hope you enjoyed it, Kayden!
That pinstripe on the suit was a nice touch! I'd never seen that technique before. You're too modest CrafsMan...Your painting skills are quite good. Nice job!
Well, I sure appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching! :)
You sound like Mitch Hedberg.... I need to have you do the voicemail for my shop!
Check out his etsy in the description, you can get custom voice work from him
You can also use his patreon to support him as well as get a voicemail
When I first listened to the crafsman’s video reading of frog and toad, I immediately thought “mitch hedberg.” He’s a joy to listen to.
:D I forgot to mention Mitch Hedberg in the video. To be honest, that's one of the voices, going back and listening to him (I only ever saw him when he was alive, on TV talk shows) that I can honestly say, I can kinda see where people are coming from.
Thank y'all for looking out! I really enjoy recording voicemails and things for people. That has been a lot of fun. :D
You sound like the best person you need to sound like. TheCrafsMan. Nobody better to be than yourself. Keep at it!
Man, thank you for that. Much appreciated, my friend.
I need NEED A CHICKEN, Craftsman!
I check your etsy every day, and I I just need one
We're trying, my friend! Hoping to release them soon....just waiting to hear back on some tools we need for packaging. Thanks so much for the support!
I appreciate your reply :) You're a rare person, Mr. Crafsmann. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. It really shows how much you love what you do.
This is my favorite RUclips channel lately. The host is so funny, genuine and talented. Big fan!
Thank you so much, Ali! I'm glad you've been enjoying the channel! :)
I really wish I was as "not" gifted as you are.
"Look at all those chickens"-dead memw

I like that one. Cracks me up. :)
You are, by far, one of the most unique and alluring personalities I have ever come across on youtube. You are talented beyond words and the fact that you share your talents and knowledge is truly a gift to we viewers. I really hope you are the same in person as you are in your videos! The world needs more you.
Wow! Thank you so much, Donita! This truly means a lot to me. :)
I could listen to him saying "hello" all the time. CrafsMan, please say "hello" more often.
:) Thank you! I don't want to wear out the "hello" on y'all, my friend! ;)
I’ve been checking your Etsy everyday for fear of missing the free ranged chicken. I’ve already got lots of ideas to customize mine. Can’t wait!
Hey Preston! What I think I'll do is give y'all a heads-up on Facebook/Instagram/RUclips Community section about "These fidna hit Etsy shelves in two days" or something like that. :D Thank you for your interest!
You put a smile on my face craftsman!
Glad to hear that, Rob! :D Thanks for watching!
CrafsMan you brighten me days with your great energy and creations!
I'm so glad to hear it, Mort! Thank you for watching! :)
I have to say your the best teacher I've ever had!!! I've learned more following this chicken from the beginning from anything I've read or watched by anyone else. Thank you
Your painting is just perfect 👌🏻- the best way to do it is the way that comes natural to you and that you enjoy
Thank you so much!
You’re such a beautiful soul. Not too many people would ever take the time to be as considerate and involved with their fans. I love watching your videos and never give up on your talent!
