"I like meg"
*Gets rejected and blushes about it*
Same, Scott. Same
Relatable
5:20
hypnos moment
Definitely should have called this Hades with a Side of Sugar
Hades with a side of Fries?
Hades With a Side of Nectar and Ambrosia
HADES with a side of Spice
Hades with a side of godliness
Hades with a side of crack
5:23 when i saw sad Scott slowly fade in i laughed that just got me, i realy like the more positive reviews focusing more on beeing genuine rather than "i have to be salty" is nice
Turned down again, eh Scott?
"You might be cursed at that point, because you may have already experienced peak" Me when I played any Shantae game after starting with Pirate's Curse, or any indie MetroidVania after Hollow Knight.
Ori is pretty good, more so the sequel. Though they hit a hard flaw in being comparatively short by the genre standards. The sequel takes clear inspiration from Hollowknight though.
Silksong when
Me trying to play FO3 after NV.
Ender Lilies is a wonderful MetroidVania that I cannot recommend enough if you haven't played it yet; not as infinitely playable as Hollow Knight, but definitely a fun game with only a few unfortunate downsides that nonetheless can be overlooked.
One of the best games of all time.
For a rogue like its incredibly weak in tearms of replay value
@@shinopigamer7578maybe to you
I find the replayability just fine
@shinopigamer7578 I'm sorry are we even thinking about the same *developers?* All of their games are ridiculously replayable!
@@killuazoldyck2053 bro
If you ever played games like Issac or dead cells you won't call hades repayable
Eh idk man. I realize it's a valid opinion to have, but it is NOT as sticky as other roguelites for me and the story wasn't grabbing me.
A not to salty side of salt… a refreshing change of pace, for certain
i mean it is sponsored
@@iparadigm
It IS also Hades, one of the top roguelikes out there
Is there a side of salt? IDK, seems pretty sweet actually. I like side of salt because it prepares you for the annoying elements on otherwise fun games.
There's a real difference between loving something blindly with rose colored glasses and loving a game despite its flaws.
@@zacziggarot
Hades has very few flaws to be salty about
@@nashvontookus7451 so make it a review and not a side of salt then. I watch these videos so that I can tailor my expectations before checking out a new game. Whenever people say that a game is flawless it pretty much just builds expectations to the point where it disappoints.
So you're saying that none of the enemies get repetitive? Even on your 100th run? None of the boss fights feel unfair? There's always a good spread of perks that you can get in each room?
Legitimately wanted to play it someday but now I'm kind of worried that it just has a high skill ceiling that'll be out of my filthy casual reach
Ngl, this video immediately being as a Netflix ad really discredits how good of a game this is. Its not just a "oh its free why not" game, it's genuienly a game changer and one of my all time favorites that serves to be played on a consol or PC
Im pretty sure one of the head leads for the creator of hades plays orpheous and also sings some of the songs (obviously)
Darren Korb. He's not only the musician for ALL of Supergiant's games (not just Hades), but he's also the voice of Zagreus and Skelly in addition to being Orpheus' singing voice. (He also voiced Zulf in Bastion, too!)
@@CiromBreeze ah yea,i forgot about that for a second. The guy is a god for doing all those rolls just perrrfectly
He also allegedly did speedruns of Hades cause he loved the game so much. In some dev discussions on speedruns, they brought up that Darren was one of if-not-the fastest speedrunner in the development office. The best at being Zagreus, you could say.
While, ya know... playing Zagreus, while voicing Zagreus. What a legend.
The heat system in this game is what makes it absolutely amazing as a standout option. The fact that 1 (one) person in the world has managed to beat max-heat without mods and RNG manipulation since release just blows my mind to this day.
What I really love about this game was the perfect portrayal of the Gods and how accurate it is to the mythology. Hades is not some evil death lord trying to overthrow Zeus and neither Zeus is this perfect example of selflessness and dignity, just like in the ACTUAL greek mythos! Hades is a stern but reasonable god (a bit "no fun allowed" in the game and I love it), Zeus and most of the gods can be fickle, selfish, ignorant and overall too proud for basic understanding.
I also love how Chaos, the being who created EVERYTHING, have a tendency to overthink any small actions, since they are a being used to observe the universe with a wide scope where every action leads to an outcome, so anything as simple as giving a bottle of Nectar for the heck of it will get Chaos thinking whats the outcome.
Two sides of salt in one week? We're eating well today, boys
And so is Scott because this one's sponsored!
Eating like really salty steak
Probably because it’s sponsored. Still a good SoS
Rent's due
This is good, I needed the extra sodium /jk
1:43 Disney Hercules reference
For those who try out hell mode, there is an extra phase with hades boss fight that has an absolute banger of a boss fight theme
thats actually the difficulty modifier extreme measures 4, not hell mode, but youre right about the boss theme. all the music is so good in this game
I'm surprised how calming playing hades is, usually I get angry when I die in other games but here it just means that I'm progressing the story or talking to the characters I love.
For the longest time, Enter the Gungeon was the greatest roguelike Ive played. Now Hades and Gungeon share that throne
Enter the gungeon fan spotted
You should try dead cells as well.
Isaac in the corner like: allow me to introduce myself
@@marcelloreeves7216I love love love both Hades and Gungeon (I have like 140 hours in both), but for whatever reason I cannot get into dead cells. I've tried to get into it like 4 times but it just doesn't work for me for some reason :/. Absolutely thrilled people enjoy it that much though
@@someoneontheinternet4518 funny thing is im the exact way. Dead cells just never clicked with me no matter how much i wanna like it
Woop woop! WAITING FOR HADES 2 TO RELEAAAAASE!
I normally don't even like roguelite games, but Hades is STILL in my top 5 games I've ever played.
hades with a side of sugar.
thank you.
The binding of isaac walked so Hades could fly. I love those games a lot and one I've been playing recently is "Have a Nice Death" and tries to be somewhat story driven but it is more the whacky shenanigans and has something I really like from Tboi in repentence which is you can choose your which path you want to take on unlike Hades, which is probbly the only flaw being same 4 levels, at least pact of punishment adds a lot of spice to the same ol boss fights
Tbh I got into Hades late because a lot of the hype seemed to come from people hard simping over the characters but after giving into a sale the game is truly phenomonal.
Had to check. 379.5 hours.
Everyone's homework is to play Hades.
6:10 words could not have been truer
I was happy till I saw the Netflix sponsor. I feel sorry that this great game needed to be sponsored to get a video. Just buy this game so you don't lose it when the game leaves the library. I also checked if this game was available for android via play store and only found Dead Cells (also good game). Just get the game for PC or console if those are preferred.
I didn't know netflix had hades or games for that matter.. now I'm sad too
Was this comment made before watching the video? He said that he never planned on making one because he couldn't think of anything that countered him gushing about the game.
@@1MaxVader1 Yah, but that didn't change my opinion.
1:42 nice reference! I love this game’s representation of hades, but man it’s hard to beat that one, even with all of the movie’s inaccuracies. Still fun as all hell.
So if I play this game, I'll Flowers for Algernon myself? Sign me up.
Scott getting all these great sponsors makes me so happy and proud for him. He worked his butt off to get to where he is and he deserves every dollar he earns!
Was nervous to get back into rouge likes. I just left synthetik. Picked this up on discount. One of my all time favorite games. That God mode really made it more fun since I'm more casual and love listening to the VAs who are godly at their job in this one. Best I've seen in a while. Mega shout out to Hermes and Poseidon's VAs.
This is a side of sugar, not salt.
Actually, scratch that. The sugar is the side, the drink, the appetizer, the main course, the pallet cleanser, and the dessert.
I'm pretty sure zag's VA was just one of the devs filling in until they could hire a proper VA but they loved his performance so much they kept him.
I got into this game and fell in love with it because of your recommendation of it from the Side Order with a Side of Salt.
I cannot thank you enough for including it in that video, I always assumed Hades would be too intense for me but I had no idea it was a roguelike
Salt of side😵💫
1:43 nice hercules reference
I remember not caring about it when I saw the trailer for it when it first came out and only recently played and completed hades about a couple months ago. I was in love with this game, it has a perfect balance of gameplay and story in my experience, from the progress of various stats and power ups to the funny dialogue from the different gods. Each run you do is always different but it never felt stale cause of the different dialogue you would get every time you would die. I also went into it almost completely blind to what it had to offer and it made the experience so much better. I spent hours sometimes days grinding out the game, it’s the first ever rogue-like game I played I would recommend it to anyone to give it a try as well
I note a distinct lack of mentioning how well the touch screen controls work.
just realized there is a bandage in Scott's hair. Nice.
My proudest moment in gaming was beating a 32 heat run in Hades. My heart was racing through the last battle, it's a memory I'll keep forever
One of my all-time fave games
One of my favorite games in recent memory, I love it so much.
I could name one thing to be salty about regarding Hades:
Death is required, meaning if you're too good at the game it can take longer to progress with character interactions since you're limited to 1 per attempt (you can talk to everyone once, talking more than that just gives flavor text), whether you finish a run or not
Also certain characters will not be available depending on where you die, locking you out of certain events if you mess up or succeed, either way can screw you over
Very minor thing but to get to the actual end of the game, I had to purposefully die 6 times in a row so I could progress with the Hades dialog I was missing for instance
The fact this is my only complaint with the game goes to show how amazing it is, never a dull moment, it's always your fault if you die, and the game doesn't throw random BS at you, one of the best rogue type games out there if not the best
Honestly while it is *absolutely* one of the best in the genre, I wouldn't actually suggest Hades as an *entry* into the genre.
Off the top of my head, I can think of two that work as a better "first game" in this genre for people, depending on the approach you want.
There's "Swords Of Ditto", which is one of the most light-hearted and casual-friendly takes on the genre in existence, while still maintaining some of the foundational aspects of the genre, making it a great way to introduce people to the genre without overwhelming them.
And then there's Binding of Isaac, which is hands down the purest version of this genre there is; not the best, far from the worst, but playing isaac will give someone the absolute simplest, clearest idea of what roguelike/lite can be.
I love this game so much. I don't think I'd say that it's my favorite rogue-like, as enter the Gungeon definitely sits atop that throne, but Hades is firmly at number 2.
The reason why gungeon is my favorite over hades is that I feel like it leaves more room for skill expression in a few ways.
1. Hades let's you get stronger over time after each run, which by all means is a good thing, but gungeon will always have you start off with the same sort of strength with each character being more or less equally strong.
2. In Hades you will get hit. You can dodge attacks, but the game is very much designed around the idea that you will inevitably get hit. Gungeon is designed around the idea where if you get hit, that's on you. Getting hit is a skill issue and you're rewarded for not taking damage with additional health, making any future mistakes less punishing.
By no means am I saying that Hades doesn't take skill, it is a rogue-like which does make it hard in a number of ways, but it's certainly easier compared to gungeon where any overpowered combos aren't guaranteed and will only come up due to chance.
Welp, time to fire up Netflix. I’m a simple man. You put Greek/Roman mythology into a video game and you will have my attention in a chokehold! Plus it’s fully voice acted? 👍🏾Thanks for the video Scott!!!
When he did the Hades quote from the disney Hurcules movie I was dead lol 😂
That last line is exactly my case.
Hades was my first roguelike back in 2020 and I've tried multiple roguelikes since including supergiant ones and have never gotten into them as much as Hades
And we can’t wait for Hades 2!!
Love the Hades reference for hades
I'm in a weird place with Hades. I acknowledge that it is absolutely a peak game, and while I had a ton of fun with it I only played it so much before eventually returning to playing The Binding of Isaac.
Nice change of pace to have not so much salt. Glad you enjoyed the game as much as I did!
Hades my beloved
When i got this game originally i slept on it pretty hard and now within the past 3-4 months its all I play
The greatest salt along the way is that this is peak, and we will never reach this high again.
Lets go i love hades and i have to try it on the phone
The music in this game is some of the best I've ever heard. Huge props to Darren Korb.
Kind of feels like he is text to speak here
Main reason everyone needs to play Hades: Eurydice
recommendation: In stars and time
i will not elaborate further.
The story and design is perfect. Big fan of greek mythology so I was already locked in. The bow was my main weapon.
6:10 "you may be cursed because you've already experienced peak"
Nonsense, Scott...they're making a sequel
How often do l make jokes about chemistry? Periodically.
omfg i just got back into this game a few days ago, its so good
I've recently grabbed the game on steam and I love it as a rouge like.
More people need to know about Supergiant game’s other titles. Bastion is my childhood, and I loved Pyre.
Oh that is interesting if I can get my switch pro controller on my iPad working I’ll definitely give it a shot
i think you should do crypt of the necrodancer, don't forget to mention how hard it is to get a platinum trophy
Love hades, such a fun game. Also hope you eventually do something on transistor, though it would be pretty hard to do a video, it’s just such a beautiful game that has to be experienced for the full impact
"Might of already experienced peak"
At least until Hades II comes out.
How ironic that this gets made right after I start playing hades for the first time
I cannot wait for hades 2!!
Oh RIGHT!
The salt is there, but just complimentary, like a perfectly cooked dish. 😊
Yooooo you covered one of my favorite games of all time lessgo
It's about time.
Hades *without* a Side of Salt, we didn't order the salt
Definitely a game I do not regret giving a shot even though it was outside my usual genres.
Get that bag king
And 2 weeks after this released, we get some pretty hefty news on Hades 2.
Before watching it, I was wondering what the side of salt would be. And none was served, the perfect amount for this game!
5:23 scott crying killed me.
Definitely one of the games I have on standby at any given moment.
The real game of the year.
Hades had me talk to a friend. And he introduced me to the other super giant games. I played and enjoyed Pyre and Transistor. And I can love being a supergiant fan looking forward to Hades 2 since I am a Huge Greek mythology nerd being my childhood.
Hades is the first and only roguelike I’ve ever played. I hate dying in games even if I know that’s the point, unless it’s part of the narrative which Hades does brilliantly. I’m so hype for Hades 2
Re: Hades being peak. We ARE getting a sequel, which already slaps in early access
Bow is broken, first upgrade, Dionysus on special, Artemis on cast and goddess of love on attack
My friend you have defined my first sucessful run
Hades peak
imo, rouglikes don’t need to have deep stories. This is what sets Hades apart from the rest.
This video got me to pick up Hades. Banger game so far.
Hades is the vanilla pretty boy of roguelikes, and there ain't nothin wrong with that. 🍀
I positively adore this game. It's just about the greatest. I was worried I wouldn't like it, it was the first roguelike/lite/thingy I'd ever tried. And GODS I'm so glad I did! I sing the songs way too often, all the time. So excited for Hades II.
Also, we stan the sons of Nyx in this house.
You know, I thought that I was the only one who thought everyone was kinda whispery in this game. Glad to hear that i'm not the only one who noticed that.
Get your check, boss.
Hell yeah, get that money, bucko
I always thought the title was more of a play on the term: take this with a grain of salt, as in to go experience something and research it for yourself, don't just take my word for it.
Hades is genuinely one of my favorite games of all time
Low Sodium Hades.
Can’t wait for Hades 2
Love that Disney Hades line.
"I understood that reference." 👍
As someone that didn't get the appeal to rougue-likes, I picked it up due to the praise it got. Hours upon hours later, it has since become one of my favorite games of all time and has shown me EXACTLY why rouge-likes are so popular and replayable.
BRO GOT SUCH A BIG SPONSER?! HES REALLY MADE IT 😭😭😭
Ughh I love hades can’t wait for the sequel
It took him 4 years but he’s finally reviewing Hades guys!
