I love how honest she was. She had no problem saying "I don't know". She could have come up with all kinds of scientific reasons to answer the question why she wanted to go into space...but she just said honestly that she didn't know. I really admire someone like that. But I think, honestly, that the average mind could not understand her reasons for wanting to go into space. Her fellow astronauts would because it's probably very esoteric. And I love how she said "the training is asexual" and how you don't have to be strong to do anything in space because you're weightless. She gave very practical answers. She probably got so tired of answering such thoughtless questions. She was fascinating. And she still had that great smile in her later years. RIP Sally. You're greatly missed.

I want to say that I have letters and photos of America's first astronauts John Glenn, John Young and Neil Armstrong, who also personally replied to my letters. In the 80s and 90s, I was very interested in the history of the development of the space programs of the USSR and the USA. Eternal memory of the space pioneers. My best wishes to you and your loved ones. ❤🤝St. Petersburg, Russia.

Just got done reading the book, Sally Ride, by Lynn Sherr which is so well written I had to look everyone up see who they were, what they look like today. Fabulous story. Even though Sally had a shortend life by pancreatic ca, she accomplished so many things. The sky is the limit and she was so talented in so many ways. And I'm glad she came out in her last days. First woman lesbian in space. Good for her. Aways looking for equality like it should be. Rock on Sally.

The Space Shuttle was the most dangerous space vehicle that ever existed. You couldn’t have paid me to put my dog on it! Especially when they couldn’t figure out how to keep those damned tiles from falling off - that, of course, was what doomed Columbia before they even made it into orbit! Just add publicity- and money-greedy managers into the mix, and you had a volatile combination ( pun definitely not intended). 😢

And uh, I’ve had a lot of time to think about it, and I don’t know what the reason is, but I think that some of the people in the world understand immediately and would love to take my place and would love to go up themselves, and other people really don’t understand the reason for it and I think it’s just something that’s inside people that they can’t, uh, can’t explain.” So, yeah, Sally was 100% gay.
