If you have burnt oil smell inside your car and need to replace your PCV vacuum lines, please watch this video, this applies to M113 and M112 Mercedes Benz engines.3 Very Important Maintenance Items that you might need to do as well:
PCV vacuum lines replacement, Engine valve cover gasket, Spark plug torque check. I have the part numbers for the parts you need as well, watching the complete video is recommended as the details are a bit dispersed. I have included in the description to the valve cover and spark replacement videos. Please let me know your experience, questions and feedback. Cheers Max.

I just had my rocker cover gaskets done today. Feld-pro thru Amazon. Mine are vibrant blue for some reason. E430. I have a single side intake. So my man sensor is on the left "intake tube" are the part numbers for the holes/ the hoses themselves, different for the different intake system?

pls help I have a 2.6 lire M112 and I have replaced the PCV vacuum lines and also the little vacuum lines, cleaned the throttle and MAF, replaced all 12 spark plugs but I still notice when the car is at Park Position, I slowly rev the engine to 1,500rpm and I can feel the engine producing a vibration. although when the engine idles at 700rpm it seems fine and smooth. As the engine reaches operating temperature, I notice the vibration lessens although not totally gone but no longer that noticeable . Pls help. could this be the harmonic balancer or what we usually call the crankshaft pulley vibration damper??

@josephnathanielvidanesbala2485 hi, before replacing anything, test your engine Mounts, they are prone to go bad at 150k. Testing is easy, google it and it takes 10 sec.

@josephnathanielvidanesbala2485 also make sure spark plug wires are all in properly and correctly.

Thank you for all your hard work. I'm just waiting for some dry weather here in the UK so that I can change the valve cover gaskets on my M113 SLK55. The burnt oil smell is actually worse in the cabin with the roof open.

Thanks mate, I have a 20 min video on how to change these gaskets and the most importantly, the breather cover.

    Glad you uploaded this!
I’m planning on doing something similar with the valve cover gasket replacement along with the hoses but you have convinced me to tackle the spark plugs while at it!
Perhaps i should check the crankshaft sensor too

I just got my 05 c320 4m back from the mechcanic. I did the valve cover gaskets and a whole lot of other stuff. Driving away from the shop, the throttle was going up and down and even almost stalling out completely. Drove it back and they cleaned the throttle body which fixed the issue for the most part, but i think these hoses need to get replaced as well. They also noted my spark plugs needed to be replaced but i had changed them out about 6 months ago so i think the leaky valve cover must have ruined them.
I love this car, and at 110,000 miles I'm very inspired to get it running correctly!

    • @BenzAddiction

CLK W209 is a great car, leaky valve cover is one of the shortcomings of M112 and M113 and if done correctly can lead to years of great ownership experience.

@ftffighter they did not install my engine cover correctly and stated by throttle body needed to be replaced. They cleaned the throttle body, installed the cover properly, and now it runs fine!

Good video and info, thanks for making it. Just FYI valve cover gaskets from Mercedes-Benz are not wildly expensive - I actually can't remember precisely how much but I think in the $80-100 AUD realm for both. I think their main distribution centre is Melbourne - anything you ask for is overnight to Sydney and presumably Bris/Adelaide, and maybe Hobart. Some parts from the dealers are def too expensive, but seals and gaskets not so much. E240T M112.

Good job . Yes , it is known that some aftermarket VC gaskets just don't work very well.
I have always used genuine MB gaskets and I have not had a problem. Find an alternative supplier rather than the dealer to save some $$.
Some will say not to use RTV silicone gasket maker as well , certainly it is not used by MB , but it is your car so it is up to you.

    • @BenzAddiction

Thanks Leonardo, I will come with an update in near future about the gasket 😉

I have heard that V Reinz don't seal very well.

@@BenzAddiction It would be better if the breather covers used gaskets instead of RTV sealant , (but I am not an engineer ,,probably MB engineers know better than me and there must be a reason why they did it the way they did .)

Thanks for your great video! Everything is really detailed and well explained! I have the same problem in my C240, after a certain time when the engine has warmed up, it starts to smell like burnt oil in the interior of the vehicle.
What I'm wondering: How can it be that the fresh air is drawn in from the engine compartment? Isn't that a Mercedes design fault?
Sure, the box with the air filter housing is separated from the engine compartment, but that doesn't seem to work very well? Do you have any ideas on what could be improved here?

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  Год назад +1

Yes unfortunately not the best design but, that's a good reminder that the valve covers are leaking and most probably, the breather covers.

Hi mate, I bought the parts from rockauto.com. their shipping time was about 5 days and for light weight parts like sensors, filters, gaskets, it is really bargain as the shipping cost is minimum. Try it once but try the best brands as there are many brands to chose from. Yes please watch my other videos. Cheers. Max. Brisvegas 😉
