Not all m272 engines are as bad as described. The balance shaft issue was rectified after 2006. I have 160k on my 2011 and the only issues I had with it were the intake manifold lever (650 dollar replacement) and the secondary induction air pump (200 dollar replacement). I love that car!
we sold our E350 - M272 with 271K miles, zero issues other than minor vaccum leaks and intake flaps not working. I think only early ones are affected by balance shaft issues.
M272 Is bulletproof 2008 and onward. They fixed the balance shaft issues. I have a 2011 E350 with this engine. You see them with as many as 400,000 miles.
Well he just explains why they are not while you just made a fan boy comment. All the issues he described are known look for yourself . Now you probably will tell us you know someone who drove 200,000 miles on original engine . Good for him The majority had this known issues
@@zf4hp24 I mean there's a whole ytb video explaining why its the least reliable V8 lol, maybe i'd consider it if it's the +2011 with the fixed headbolt, intake manifold, camshaft adjuster issues... but then again them facelifted W204 C63s are still pretty expensive and shooting up in value
Timing gear and chain issues, intelligent oil pump issue, balancing shafts, electronic issues etc. Things I've never heard of in classic benzes of the 80s and 90s.
I own a C230 with a m272 and I had to replace the engine because of misfires, knocking sound, and the final day dhe piston constantly hitting the spark plugs caused total engine failure after breaking the piston. I bought another one used and I had to replace the balance shaft. But I still enjoy driving it
Bruh who the fuck buys the C230 V6, that shit is so underpowered its hilarious, all that trouble and a 2.5L V6 with high fuel cons just for a 200hp when you could've just got a C230K 1.8L M271 190HP that has more torque and is faster than C230 V6
W211's that were turned in after lease had a lot of the bad issues resolved by dealer before they hit auction. In California, they would replace the air suspension with springs and do the water pumps and thermostats and balancing shaft all at once. Just pull off the front bumper, jack up the engine a bit and you could do it all including motor mounts. The car then runs an additional 100k miles, so not a bad deal.
m272 at the end of it's production cycle is bulletproof, only needing basic maintenance. M156 is reliable, compared to other amgs, it requires a lot of preventative maintenance, but that's the price for a fun engine.
is this guy daft ? the m272 after 2006 is incredibly robust, the timing issues had been rectify by then only thing that still seem to wear prematurely was the idler pulley seem to never make it more than 60,000kms for some reason, and the heater fan i seem to have to replace it every 2-3 years 🤷♂️ only things that really go wrong on my 2008 e350 change your fluids frequently and they give you many worry free miles 365,000kms on mine
@@mariociao9314 early years no, it had timing chain and balance shaft gears issues, which didn't get fixed until 2008 for both M272 and M273. M156 got fixed in 2011

I bought new secondary airpump form 70euros :D
after 2008 not 2006
I’m at 99,700 miles on my 2011

M156 is garbage. You want something powerful and reliable? Get M113K

2:20 Wrong, M272 / M273 got fixed in 2008
I own a 2010 e350 coupe with a 272 engine. 72K miles
Should I worry about fixing anything before it goes 💣? Like the balance shaft?

Same here, C230 from 2006. I rebuilt the engine due to knocking sound (scored cylinders walls). No balance shaft or other issues yet at 150k km

The SBC brake recall prompted this and brake systems were overhauled as well.

Some oil leaks to be fixed at 250000km...but only issue in 14 years
interesting 👍🏼
toyota is a rock compared to a crumbling merc
Yeah the new tundra throwing main bearings at 10k miles is a rock. Absolutely useless like a rock 😂 enjoy the 100k engines being recalled😂
@fakenews3676 almost any new vehicle is horrible thanks to the bs emissions laws forcing them to overcomplicate designs and tunes
Lexus should be compared to Mercedes and not Toyota.
Toyota is the ordinary man's car.
Mercedes make junk engines now
M276 not junk!
Bmw's N63 : 🐼
What about other 99 engines?
Disagree. M157 is the worst of them all
what about bentley?
Whats with you and cats. Sheesh
