Constellation episode 4 continues the madness of universal amnesia, because Jo cannot remember if she had an affair or not.
We’re going to get into everything in episode 4, the two different timelines, some out there theories of what is actually happening, and where I think the second half of this series will go, so strap in!
Alright getting right into episode 4 the main question is, what the heck is actually going on here? Obviously we’ve learned that a new form of matter was being researched, weird time jumps, potentially multiple universes, along with a lot of sci-fi mumbo jumbo. The evidence points most strongly to Quantum Superposition, the ability of a quantum system to be in multiple states at the same time until it is measured, combined with parallel universe theory. These two theories are observes with the particles Henry is researching, along with Jo seemingly living a life that might not be her’s, and why there were two Alice’s in the first 3 episodes.
Surprisingly the multiple timelines theory was heavily but yet subtly shown to us in the first few minutes of episode 1 aboard the ISS. If we watch closely, there are actually two different Jo’s and two different Alice's, that seemingly blend together in this one cohesive scene. In one timeline Jo holds her iPad horizontally, Alice has braided hair and wears this red and blue shirt, and the pair speak Swedish. In the other timeline, Jo holds her iPad vertically, Alice has her hair pulled back, wearing a blue shirt, and the pair speak English. So the show is very sneakily weaving scenes from the two timelines together, and us viewers are having to “observe” only then determining which timeline we’re in.
I’ll get back to the timelines in a bit, but another thing we brought up last week was Schrodinger's Cat, a quantum mechanics thought experiment, where a cat and deadly chemicals are placed in a box together. The cat is both alive and dead when the box is closed, only knowing the true outcome when it is opened. I believe Jo and the other’s suffering from this quantum “illness”, a little tease for later, are this show’s Schrodinger's Cat. They are in a box and only certain outcomes come to be when observed. This is why Henry defeatingly says “Curiosity killed the cat”.

Btw it’s possible to determine who is Bud and who is Henry.
This is made clear when Bud has an interview with a newscaster who calls him Henry and he says not to call him that.
So Henry is the one who is still working for NASA and couldn’t save his cremates and Bud did save his cremates but is now a drunk on board the ship doing conventions and has written an autobiography.
From Henry’s perspective he knows Irena should be dead, but is seeing her in an intimate capacity as in the reality he now finds himself in she is alive.
It’s possible she was part of the same mission he went on, so it’s thanks to the actions of Bud but Henry is getting all the glory.
Why different timelines? Can't it be 2 parallel realities? Unless by timeline you mean similar looking yet different individuals in different realities. The problem with these movie sci-fi takes on quantum theory is it doesn't include the role of genetic code and the law of cause and effect that shape the genetic blueprint of the individual. The genetic information not only determines the type of body one gets but linked to the type environment. Which means the code existed before the molecules begin forming as DNA at conception. Anyway YT censor AI can go anal at such discussions.

It's defining each reality by comparison of each other.
Reality A, you turn Left
Reality B, you turn Right
Since we define the progression of events with time, this is why Timeline is being used to examine these variables.
Anyway what I was trying to get to was that if you looked at the alternate timeline scenarios through a genetic code and a "cause and effect" lens the possibility of people looking similar in those alternate time lines is highly unlikely. With every breath one takes and every thought and decision one makes their future is being shaped.
@@rachmann516There’s enough variation between “brother” and “sister” that they DO appear different, everyone they encounter can see it even though on the surface they seem similar upon closer inspection it’s clear they’re not, this is the observer effect coming into play.
It’s not necessarily a biological change but far more likely an environmental one.
This show is incredible. As someone who grew up on X-Files and Fringe, this show speaks to me.

I think blue jo is the one that released jo red from the ISS to return home. Also something about her eye while driving and jo blue had an eye patch on when on the ISS.

You've done such a good job here I am almost tempted to rewatch the first 4 episodes. I think most critics were too quick to write off Constellation because they did not pick up the subtle clues that you talk about.
I notice that attention spans have become so short that people can’t stand shows that make them work to understand 🤷♀️

My theory is that as well as alternate universes I think the use of the joke about Nelson Mandela is a hint at some of this being a possible Mandela effect

The reason Alice can see both realities at times has to be because she was talking to her mother when the incident happened. The theory that Mum touched her when back on earth does not hold up because she touched hubby as well.

Makes me wonder is the device really the catalyst or simply keeping the windows open?
It seems many others experience “disorientation” and the suggestion that humans aren’t supposed to reach for the stars without experiencing some interference from “outside” forces.
This episode really ramped up the impact of intertwined realities and it seems more are becoming aware of this phenomena.
Probably three different realities, if you watch that scene in the office where she was looking up the vitamins there was the lighting differences in that office, and a picture of three different universes on the wall behind her.
i just miss films like interstellar or dark. something to fill my curiosity and not fail me. this tv show is interesting and really complicated i love it
There’s tons of mystery/thriller Sci-Fi movies out there, not all of them are huge blockbusters.
I love sci-fi time travel parallel universe twisty shows. Dark was crazy confusing but amazing show. Also enjoyed 1899 by the same director. Another show I enjoyed is bodies. These mystery box shows are the best as it keeps you guessing right to the end.

@@ObsessiveGeekPlease give me a list. I love scifi but trying to deliberately find new releases is near impossible because all of the lists you will find are like 80% marvel garbage, 15 percent that are actually scifi but garbage, and 5 percent that i've already seen.
I believe your chart for blue car and red car may be wrong. In blue car universe, Henry exist. Not Bud. Henry is in direct talks with Jo all throughout. Bud is the one clearly in emotional distress on the cruiseline where he said it wasnt his fault his crew died. So in Blue car universe, Henry's crew survives. This is why Irena is alive. In Red car universe, they die which is why we see dead Irene mummy in space. Irena in blue car universe isnt aware of any dead cosmonauts and questions Jo. This is because the body was her from the other universe.
Now back to what I said last week. Blue car team is alive. And Red car team is dead. Bud is originally from Blue car universe where he saves Irena and saves his crew. Henry is originally from Red car universe where he got "Irene" killed and his crew. After that they got swapped. Hence why Bud says it was Henry's fault and he is the reason his crew died.
Also Jo plays Piano in the Blue Car Universe, Not Red Car Universe. Jo is transported to this new universe. She clearly says she doesnt know how to play piano but yet masters it.
This may because her consciousness is merged with the cheating Jo from the blue car timeline. Perhaps when someone dies, the consciousness cant get swapped to a dead body. It stayed put but is now suppressed by Jo's personality from the Red Car universe. Thus allowing her to either eventually merge fully or remember parts of her alternate version's life.
Clarification: Irene and Irena are spelled differently on purpose because on Google it says Irene and Wiki it says Irena. Also closed captions also use both.
The problem here is that it appears Henry/Bud, Jo, and Irena have "swapped" timelines at some point. Or something....somehow Bud/Henry know about the other, and Irena knows her fate in the other timeline. ("I think you know my 'sister' has been dead for sometime now.")
How is that possible? Well, perhaps at some point, they swapped, or learned about the other somehow.

It's like the writer told four different stories separated into chapters and then shuffled the deck.
This is something like what happened in Fringe series. Walter Bishop would be a great help for Joe to understand it all.

The other night I am watching Constellation where Jo has rescued Alice and placed her in a bath to warm her. She sees the other Alice in the mirror sleeping in her bed. Then, I get a knock on my door (around 9:30). My tuxedo cat is startled and jumps off the couch. I open the door, but keep the screen door opened ever so slightly and see it is my neighbor telling me my cat is out and here he is. I watch a tuxedo cat walk away from us. He looks just like my cat, except fpr a small black spot on his chin, which my cat is all white. I am momentarily started by this anomoly of my cat being in two places at once and look around to see my cat inside and ten return to face my neighbor. The other cat is gone by now.
So what does this have to do with time lines and theories pertaining to episodes 1-4? Nothing I guess but it sure did give me a startle for a moment.

I'm LOVING your coverage of this show but someone on Reddit spotted a slight error in your timeline at 3.00. "I think the Henry/Bud saves everyone is on the wrong universes. So Jo alive exists in blue… Henry clearly exists in blue. Henry isn’t dejected and still works at NASA inferring that in blue everything went great. However in red where Jo is dead, Bud is having a hell of a time and is seen as a fraud. So in blue everyone was saved on Apollo 18 and in red people died. This supports that Bud is originally from blue and swapped with Henry."

Well, that's because "Red Jo" is now in the blue universe, and possibly the same with Henry/Bud and Irena. There's the red & blue timelines, and then there's how things have gotten mixed up because of quantum superpositioning?

In episode 3 when they were graveside she saw an image of the dead colleague holding flowers and with a cane….is this foreshadowing her existence on the other dimension and perhaps how it ends with her having to choose to stay in the new dimension or death in hers? Sacrifice?

I haven't figured out the purpose of the scene yet, but the girl stomping on the bunny rabbit is Alice. Check out the boots and then compare to Alice and the other girl's darker boots. Alice saw herself stomping on the bunny. I just don't know what the purpose of this scene was except maybe to hint that both Alice's can be present together (based on the cabin scene, too).
The last scene with bud/henry makes it look like they have switched back somehow.

I think daughters have switched also. At the desert scene. Because the red timeline mom is supposed to be dead. But she then saw the death of her real mother but is not in that timeline herself.

I think you mixed up piano bullets in each timeline. In blue timeline (current one we are in) Jo claims she doesn't play piano and is surprised when she is able to because I think in her timeline (red) she can't play. I think this means the Jo that is supposed to be in this timeline did (Jo who is dead in red timeline now). With all that being said, although Jo is dead in red timeline, I think it's safe for us to assume that's the blue timeline Jo. The Jos have been switched but she is dead in red but that's not her timeline. I think this is the catch/twist.
Yup he did. I posted on here a and reddit that original Blue car universe Jo consciousness is probably dormant within her own body because of the Red Car universe personality invading it. Blue car Jo didn't have any alive body to transport to so it stayed and is now suppressed. Which may be why Red Car Jo can now play the piano
Also if you watch, Jo is clearly surprised she can read the music notes and is surprised after she plays. So this isn't blue car universe Jo, it is the same Red one we been watching. Blue car Jo is either dead or dormant

We still don't know Magnus is dead or not and also I belive that Red Jo is still alive in Red World because ( Minute 20:53 in the serie ) we see Red Jo in ISS Ship with a wound on her eye i believe that she is still alive...
I don’t think she’s in Red Earth though. I do believe that she is alive and that we haven’t seen her yet. Part of me thinks Jo floating with the wound is the Jo that passed away making 3 Jo’s since 1 passed in 1967 (I think). I did also think that was Red Jo when I first saw it (because she did have that point of time lapse) but we never see her clean up the wound & I believe she has an eye patch so I could be a third Jo but guess we’ll have to wait n see!

This episode confirmed alot of my theories in my comment on your last video. Henry and Bud swapped timelines and were not twins but more so counterparts. Jo also swapped. In one universe shes dead and in the other Paul is dead. It also confirmed my theory about a in-between reality. Thats why the maintenance guys couldnt see Jo at the end of episode 4. Once she took a hint of the lithium, she was able to transport there. She was only seen by the worker's in the red car universe where shes dead because she got close to the one and "made herself seen". That's why the guy freaks out and yells.
The daughter obviously can see through the vail into the universe where her mother is dead because of the skin to skin contact with Jo when she was recovered or because she was shown the experiment on facetime in episode 1.
Once she was "observed" by the movers...then they could see her. I don't think the lithium transported her there. It's the observer effect of superpositioning.
I do think that there are, as Henry describes it on the playground swing set, three possibilities: red world, blue world, and both red & blue simultaneously.

That’s my guess as of now. It explains why she feels foreign I’m even in her home
Wouldn’t there be 3 Alice not 2? If red Alice indeed passed away then she would have died in 1967 (per Ep 4) so she wouldn’t have that car at all. So there would actually be 3 time periods. In episode 3 I started to think there was 3 Alice, blue Alice (blue Jo’s real daughter), red Alice (speaks Swedish with mom, and possible third Alice (mom never came back).
Don’t forget that the daughter also witnessed the experiment on the ISS through Joe’s iPad call.

If Irena died in Jo's universe would she wonder who this new Russian lady is who is calling the shots at mission control? Jo would have no idea who Irena was if she comes from the universe where she died. She ends up in the timeline where Irena is alive. Was Irena talking to her while she saw the body of who we assume is the other Irena? Could it have been one of Irena's crew who also died?

Changing being brought up threw me off a little. Minus the Apple show, not familiar with that lore. It almost feels like 3 stories are intertwined. Red and blue I get but some things don’t fit in either.
Maybe I missed something but for me it was not clear that Magnus was dead.
That’s an assumption on my part, but him falling in Ep 4 and Jo “scared” of the cops in episode 1
I feel like this show is pretty good so far. And I hope they don't mess it up and have a very cool twist or explanation for what's happening. But the shows seems to have a largely mixed reception and I think that's mostly because the main actress is pretty decent but not great. But the story requires fantastic acting since the character is in constant emotional turmoil. Worse are the child actors including her daughter, who's acting is atrocious. She child also comes off as very spoiled and bratty even when she's supposedly the original "sweeter/nicer" version, she's still very demanding. Which makes it hard to care about her or about her mom's struggle to get back to her own child.
Also, they just kinda made her a very masculine character even naming her Joe. While the husband is super feminine.
But in the end I like the concept and I'm intrigued. I like finding all the clues etc. But this is one of those concepts that is very, very easy to mess up. So I hope the rest of the show is good too and I didn't waste my time watching something that just ends up a plot hole filled mess.

I’m not convinced that Bud and Henry are the same person… in a different universe. No one else has a different name, just different circumstances and made different choices

What's the alternative?? I feel like Bud is a very astronaut type name and since that is his whole persona he has clung to that vs NASA Henry who is a professional scientist now.
