What did you think of CONSTELLATION Episode 5? What theories do you have about what the heck is actually happening? The biggest takeaway from this episode is the information we got about the echos (ghost recordings) being captured at a “liminal point” (place between places). And that Alice is in direct contact with Irena, suggesting that she is also trapped in such a point. I feel the solution for Jo is to find a way for Alice to break through the looking glass, or perhaps for her to find a way to pass into it herself. This could tie into the need to destroy one of the cabins or my other theory is Jo attempting to destroy the device since this is what is keeping the windows between realities open, however this literally backfires. The finale I predict will either be Jo finding herself trapped in this new reality or needing to face the unknown. However is a reality where both Paul and Jo are alive her “correct” one? …I feel this is will be the question for season two to try and resolve.
I already mentioned the 3 existences theory but here’s more proof. Cabin A 🔴 contains the painting of the wounded Angel… Cabin B 🔵 contains the painting of the demon stirring the pot… and the dead cat on the floor. Cabin C 🟣’s painting is a combination of the two (actual) artworks, depicting the demon from B on the stretcher from A
Why do everyone think a "different universe" can exist as a duplicate of our universe with the same but different people? The idea is preposterous, it has no basis in science or common sense. I think this sci-fi is implying "different realities" not universes and draws on the concept of quantum entanglement to drive the plot. However, the quantum theory from where the concept of super positions and quantum entanglement is found, has no framework to allow us to speculate on the potential that trillions of particles in a cluster can be in a state of entanglement with a similar cluster of trillions of particles such that the characters Henry and Bud can cause the other to pee his pants. Lol!!
I think Alice and Jo are entangled because they were on a FaceTime call at the same time Paul turned on the CAL device. Even went so far as to point the iPad at the CAL so Alice could see it. In EP1, it shows Jo’s alternate Alice (Alice in blue) seeing the CAL device. Right after the explosion, it shows a pan out of the ISS, leading the audience to believe it’s the iPad floating away. I think in Jo’s primary universe, SHE floated away. In Blue Alice’s universe, the iPad floated away.
@@GriffenUnlabeled Did anyone else notice as soon as Alice entered "Mission Control" when Jo was on the screen in ISS there seemed to be interference and communication was lost?
Jo saved herself, she was the shadow that released the escape pod. I think what's happening is according to the premise of the show, quantum entanglement only happens in space. This is why the experiment replicating on earth makes no sense to them! Which is also why Alice is also getting affected because Jo brought back the experiment, as seen by the FBI agent in the video. I think anyways, lol, I'm getting confused just trying to get my thoughts straight.
You explain Quantum Physics concepts like no-one I've met. Feels like I'm chatting to a teenager, but without missing all the important things. I absolutely adore sci-fi, but Constellation is not for the faint of Quantum!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a little bummed out that this is the first time I haven’t been able to enjoy a sci-fi show due to not understanding. I just watched episode 5 & finally gave up, turning to RUclips to find answers. While this does clear things up for me, I think this show might’ve been a little too ambitious (cue the people telling me that not everything needs to be dumbed down) & will go over too many heads like it did mine.
I like your point about the Mandela effect, but i think you have it backwards. Jo and co. are not 'dealing' with the Mandela effect .. rather what they are going through is an explanation for why the Mandela effect may occur - that is seepage from different Everett threads of the splitting universe.
Someone asked in an AMA: _How did Alice start to see this alternative reality? Is it because of the device? Then how did previous astronauts start seeing stuff before the device? I think Alice is supposed to be a future astronaut and space affected her in the future and it affects her in the past due to quantum entanglement. That it can exist even earlier than the inciting incident.
The word "Valya" was heard in one of the first few episodes, I cannot remember which. I think it's either Irena's last name or someone referred to her as that. I'll have to go back and rewatch, but I'm pretty certain the word was heard in Ep 1 or Ep 2.
Valya is the Russian nickname for Valentina, as in Valentina Tershkova, the CCCP astronaut who was the first woman in space in 1962. Coincidence? I think not...
What I don't get is Henry, a theoretical physicist, keeps saying that the quantum entanglement and superposition the CAL created could only happen in zero-G space. First of all, 286 miles up the ISS is in a low gravity orbit but not zero G. Second, quantum entanglement happens all the time on earth and is the basis of quantum physics. Quantum computers rely on entangled pairs and superposition to solve complex problems by creating a particle in many states at once. This routinely happens on earth. I think Henry and Bud would know this. I guess the novel effect created by the CAL is what it is doing to the people who it have observed it or it has allowed to observe it. Is the CAL device tapping into a consciousness that is beyond human experience?
I think the soiling himself scene was a nod to him taking a tumble at balkinour or the likes, Especially after scrounging around ecliptic research stations

We don't really know Henry's real question. The C.A.L. is real. New states of matter (beyond the solid, liquid, gas, and plasma we know) are real, and we are actively trying to discover them. (We have already discovered Quark-gluon plasma, Fermi-Dirac condensate, and Bose-Einstein condensate. The C.A.L. has in fact been used to explore B.E.C. In the microgravity environment of the I.S.S., about half of the atoms formed into a magnetically insensitive halo-like cloud around the main body of the B.E.C..
So you mentioned that we are back to the start of episode 1 but in episode 1 Joe got to the cabin by road and not the lake plus she took the cal to an outhouse. If Jo is dead in red and alive in blue. Could this mean there is another dimension?
I was very confused by this show but thanks to your breakdowns I am able to understand what’s going on ! Wow this is crazy I thought she was just crazy that it had nothing to do with the Multiverse!?!!!😮😮

What if the dead cosmonaut is Irina twin? if remember correctly Henry had a conversation with Irina about their siblings in episode 1 and Irina told Henry that her sister is dead.
Yes. We are seeing both realities even before the collision occurs. Jo is holding the iPad differently depending on which Alice she is speaking to as well so the entire conversation is consistently switching.
We are watching 2 different pairs of people in episode 1. Her clothes don’t change, it’s the OTHER Alice. Jo even holds the iPad different when it’s a different pair speaking if you go back and watch it. They really paid attention to detail. ✅
The old pair of brother & sister are twins....they are entangled....they can only hear it when they are together....just like when the particle is near the tape player playing the tapes///// TWINS will be important
Def has NOTHING to do with the Mandela effect at all. Twins are entangled. Everyone who observed the particle got entangled and using the “device” caused random people to switch dimensions with their entangled counterpart….. my theory 🤷🏽♂️
Entanglement rules are ineffable and cannot be circumvented. Constellation has built in a time lag for some events and concurrent chronology for others. The chicken and egg metaphor then governs which universe makes the moves which alter the other. So anything goes and all we as the audience are left with is to decide which variant to root for, if it even matters. Plot holes abound in this intricate work, but I'm sated with it anyways, and have enjoyed your commentary very much. Simply adore the themes of color and chronology being addressed succinctly.
Can someone explain the Nelson Mandela joke because I still don’t get it. Jo thought she ate with that one but I feel like Alice right now…WTH are you talking about!
The joke refer to the Swedish words “man dela” (to share), måste is the swedish Word for ”have to”, so directly translated she says: “do you know the name of Nelson Mandelas Swedish half brother? Do we have to share (in Swedish: Måste man dela?) in Swedish dela can also mean cut in half, therefor the joke that it’s his half brother. It’s a really lame joke and hard to explain to someone who doesn’t speak Swedish 😅
Yep. Henry is stuck in a shitty reality when he was the hero that saved everyone from disaster. Bud obviously seems to want to ensure the switch is permanent, and to kill any lingering entanglement between him and Henry.
Think it's 3 different timelines. All 3 timelines have pod #2 undocking fault. The 1st ep has jo #1...we saw Paul#1 die after iss#1 collision. Confirmed . Jo#1 stays in escape pod pressing button hoping it will clear fault. Some how the fault clears and the pod undocked. 😮 On iss#2 jo#2 has same pod fault but decides to get out and clear fault from inside iss. Paul's arm is hurt and he dies in pod. Jo#2 has Alice in closet hallucinations and takes off mask... dies. Jo#3 gets hit by fire extinguisher on left side of face. Paul#3 is not injured and lives. Jo#3 decided to stay and clear pod fault for paul. Some how jo#3 is transported to timeline #1 temporarily and she clears the fault for jo#1 then she see its someone else in the pod and she snaps back. Thinking it was just a hallucination, she clears pod fault for paul #3 ...sends him to earth#3.
Though we essentially caught up with the flash forwards and so nothing much happened we hadn’t already guessed at, it was interesting to see Henry and Bud are in direct contact with one another and Alice is seemingly communicating with Irena.
Something I haven’t figured out is, if Irene is dead in Jo’s reality, why isn’t Jo surprised by her presence at Elsa/nasa? Jo is just about the least observant astronaut ever.
Potentially she simply didn’t know about her beforehand, obviously being dead Jo wouldn’t have had any previous interactions either. Jo is having a hard enough time putting together her own entanglement nevermind how other people factor into the equation, one of the biggest issues being that if she somehow returns to her original reality it’s still not correct since like you say she’ll discover Irena is dead and that’s who she saw and Alice was able to communicate with. But also that Paul will be alive, so I’m curious if this happens will season 2 be focused on his story, though I feel like ultimately the entire series is telling us reality has no fixed (correct) state, no matter how hard you try the reality you knew is gone and replaced by others.
@@ObsessiveGeek yeah, it’s just another thing she doesn’t realize. In the blue reality, Henry has a relationship with her, but in the red reality, Bud doesn’t (or at least it doesn’t show it… wonder who Bud has children with???)
@danielbond6499 There seems to be some suggestion Bud knew Irena in his original reality. Perhaps one of his dead cremates? Why does Alice now have a direct link with her?? There may be some strand of connection here we've not been made aware of yet.
@@ObsessiveGeek Alice and Jo were FaceTiming when the CAL data core was activated. Jo pointed the iPad at the CAL just as it was turning on and was on the call during the 6 seconds it was active. That’s my theory.
something evil is entering as well. Bud wanting to hurt Henry is evidence of this, but also Jo not caring enough like a mother for Alice, it is disturbing and wrong. The jo we are following is not quite right. oh and the painting in the cabin is hinting of some kind of evil involved in this story. This is not just a scientific story.
Bud wants to hurt Henry because they switched and are able to communicate and I think he wants to switch back but Henry don’t want to and kind of taunts him about it. Bud was really the one who saved his crew and Henry’s crew died. So Henry is living the life of Bud with the career and with Irene his lover and bud has been reduced to living on a cruise ship having debates where is a joke. Plus Henry switched and threw the guy off the boat.
I like everything about this show, except Jo. She's so annoying and she makes horrible decisions. I want to know more about every other character. Her daughter, her husband, her boyfriend, her coworkers, and her bosses are all more interesting. I wish Bud was the main character..
First 3 episodes were really good but these new episodes are very bad. Jo the main character is not making any logical or sensical decisions. Im honestly starting to lose interest and IMO they had a gem and ruined it with these last 2 episodes. As a watcher, seeing her make dumb decisions all the time is unrealistic, dumb, and not interesting. Jo had about a million bad decisions which no one in real life would do. Also why are they showing us the present timeline because they already did show it the first 3 episodes. I dont get why the show builds up to present timeline because it does not show anything new, just repeated scenes. This episodes was especially a filler episode and made me lose interest, I really thought I was gonna have a new favorite show but not anymore.

@danielbond6499 It's a fine one.
Personally, I feel it's more direct, Alice and Jo are holding hands when we first see both entangled from the other.
ok this show had me for a while ... then i realised ....🤨😐😑this is Fringe 🤔
something evil is entering as well.
@@devonstallworth6351 ooh I noticed that portal looking thing on the boat.
Bravo - you’ve done the best job. I know I watched them all. 🫠
Haha appreciate it! VERY confusing show, so I’m sure all of us are going down different paths
Ok, but wait until you realize that there’s 3 🔴🔵🟣 (don’t forget the liminal space!)
Have we seen much of that one? I feel like we have had to
@@JBuckStudios yes, first time is back in ep 1 we see Jo A 🔴 and Alice A 🔴 (two braids, happy, wears red) with horizontal iPads, then we switch to Jo B 🔵 and Alice B 🔵 (unkempt ponytail, pensive, forehead scar, wears navy) on the vertical iPads where Alice observed the CAL experiment; but then after the SPARK we see Alice C 🟣 on the vertical iPad with the navy jumper but she’s happy, unscarred, and has a single braid… a combination of both A and B at the same time.

I feel the same exact way. The decisions Jo makes is just ruining the show. Writers messed it up.
