    VIDEO INFORMATION
Ohhh man has Constellation thrown a fun little monkey wrench into how everything is slowly unfolding, by giving the spotlight to Paul
Uhh that’s uhh different Paul, anyway we’re jumping into everything, the small changes and effects Paul has had on Jo and vice versa, potential theories, and what the heck that ending means for the final two episodes…
This might be my favorite episode of the series so far, because things depart from Jo having the spotlight and rather focus things on Paul, BUT the holy WOW wackadoo twist is that this follows the alive version of Paul that’s in the red universe, something we had pointed out in our two universe blue and red image, BUT the alive Paul is actually from the Blue universe originally, and had switched just like Jo switched from the red universe to the blue universe. I mentioned this in my episode 1 through 3 breakdown, but this series feels like it’s taking pieces from The Cloverfield Paradox, and now I’d say it’s taking influence from 2013’s Coherence, in the way characters are switching universes, and are essentially chalked up as crazy people because elements in their new world are not aligning with what they remember. Also just a shoutout to Coherence, great movie highly recommend.
Reeling it back, confusing I know, But pretty much everything in this episode is showcasing events playing out in the red universe of which we have only seen glimpses and theorized what actually was happening in this universe. So again to be clear, almost all of this episode takes place in the Red Universe, with the Blue Universe Paul experiencing them. Meaning Jo is the one who perished in the ISS incident, and I’m not going to lie, is gnarly as hell, when her face smashes and her eye is essentially sucked through the hole in the glass. Quick theory, the camera pulling out of the ISS is supposed to be Jo’s eye floating into the unknown.
Anyway Paul basically goes through everything Jo had to do, staying back aboard the ISS, fixing the escape pod with batteries, and so forth. However we learn Jo was the one who saved Paul and essentially herself by unlatching the bolts on the door. Now I find it a little odd that Paul straight up leaves Jo’s carcass up in the ISS, but again he’s mentally dealing with a LOT.

Searched the image of the beads on Google and a few different hits suggested they are protective charm beads and include the benefit of being spiritually grounding.
Though Alice seems to be more of a scientific mind like her mother, they are both drawn towards mythological ideas (the changeling for example) and so perhaps somewhat open to the unknown in this way.
I feel that the beads represent both a protection from seemingly supernatural forces (since for Alice her mother is dead) but also an unwillingness to detach herself from those very forces since clearly she isn’t able to accept her mother has gone.
Jo is both drawn towards and scared by the beads (or at least what they represent) and Alice uses them as a type of marker for her safe space.

There has to be 3 universes. The lady with cancer is the cosmonaut that hit the electrical in the Blue and that same body hit the window in Yellow (where Paul is). But she’s alive in Red. So 3 times we’ve definitely seen her in different places.
I also find it curious that Henry ran that experiment at the exact time the ISS and the Cosmonaut would be close together, relatively, in different universes.

I think the beads represent an emotional touchstone between Alice and Jo and they assist in “finding” each other. Also, why Alice is hiding…to be found by her mom. The beads act as a beacon. They are sent in the beginning with Jo to space, she risks her life to go get them on the space station, and she tells the returning astronauts to tell Alice she still has the beads. They are a conduit with a strong emotional component between mother and daughter. I bet they bring them together in the end!

i think the beads would probably turn out to function in two levels: an emotional / story-wise element (as you described) - but the "logical" explanation would be that the beads somehow physically "entangle" the entities of Alice and her mother.

Hey Jared, I think time may be playing a bigger role than we realize. I think that it may be that Alice goes on to build another CAL in the future, once she is grown. A grown-up Alice could be using a future CAL to effect time. A grown Alice (who can use the CAL more effectively) could be the one who presses the red button to unbolt the Soyuz from the ISS. An older Alice could also explain how Alice became exposed to the CAL without relying on the iPad transmission of the CAL’s effects-just a thought.
Alice’s beads could also show the different timelines and their frequency of interaction… the number of blue beads and red beads are just about equa, and there are only few yellow beads. There are two green beads in there, but may be that’s our grown up Alice (but I doubt it).

In the first episode when Alice hears her mom died she drops the beads and doesn’t even finish the necklace! I think there are more than 2 universes and we are watching 3 or maybe more which totally makes sense if we are talking of a multiverse. I’ve noticed that some details are not red or blue but a third (like Bud/Henry’s apartments or when Paul sees Jo at the cemetery he sees her in front of him while Jo saw a Henry standing away from her) so I think in the end we’ll learn that we saw multiple Jos and Pauls and Alices whose fate (quantums) entangled because of the CAL.

Yep. Coherence is a fun little sci-fi puzzle box of universes. In other news, as I came to the series late and watched the first 5 quickly, only to realise it’s a weekly release…I wish I’d waited till it’s all out 😄 I’m leaning towards 3 universes. I was also surprised there are only 8 episodes. 7 & 8 will need to be head spinning

There are 3 universes in the show, 2 with the Cal experiment still active and 1 where it was abandoned. Even Alice is different she’s wearing different clothes and they switched to English. Only 2 universes. Just sneaky show editing.

When they are peering into the other reality, at first it came about unexpectedly, with their consciousness in neutral, in a meditative detached state. However, when they suddenly "realize" what they are seeing, their emotions (fear?) spike and abruptly ends this connection to the other reality. Both Bud and Henry seem to indicate that they control their emotions and are somewhat detached. The beads probably represent the connection of emotions to both realities. The beads have a high emotional attachments to the Jo and daughter. Not to Magnus.

One thing that bothers me. So Blue Universe Jo was originally from the universe with the CAL and good Henry, but when she switched to the Red Universe she still had the CAL and good Henry and everyone knew what the CAL was. I believe whoever was in the close vicinity of CAL got switched (Paul & Jo both at the same time).
When the CAL is turned on, red paul and red jo go into the blue universe where red paul gets his arm stuck and red jo survives.
Meanwhile blue jo and blue paul get shifted to the red universe where blue jo dies and blue paul survives, which is why he’s the only one who knows about the CAL.
What I’m still unable to grasp is how Jo saves both folks in both timelines. In the red universe where blue paul and blue jo are, blue jo is already dead so how can she press the button? In the blue universe red paul is dead and red Jo is already in the soyuz.
So unless the expectation is that blue jo (who’s dead) somehow by happenstance floated as a dead body and accidentally hit the exact button which was required to do the undocking procedure, then it doesn’t make sense.
Saving both folks in different timelines I can digest due to quantum entanglement where the button gets hit, but are they honestly expecting us to believe that dead jo floated and hit the button by luck?
Secondly, I think time dilation might be playing a bigger role here. Initially the difference between Paul and Jo’s timer is around 40 min (4:02 for paul vs 4:42 for Jo), but when Jo’s playing the piano and Alice hears it in the other universe the time is significantly different (Jo’s playing it at night while Alice hears it in the afternoon). There’s also a glaring difference here where when red jo in blue universe is watching the footage back in front of the committee, the timestamp says 2021, but when blue paul is watching the footage in the red universe with the committee the timestamp says 2023.
The other thing is Bud knowing about a parallel universe. In the red universe when blue paul meets bud, bud kind of has an idea of what he believe happened to him, but not exactly of what it might be, although in earlier episodes bud literally makes henry pee his pants, so that bud from the previous episodes most definitely knew what’s up and actively engaged blue universe henry, leading me to believe that there’s a third universe at play here which we’ve only seen from the perspective of bud from the previous episodes. (Lets call the precious episodes bud the yellow bud)
It further makes sense if you realize that yellow bud lives on a cruise ship, but red bud is living on land (which you can see when blue paul comes to meet him).
Red bud also advises blue paul to take his pills whereas yellow bud has already stopped taking his pills.

That being said, there definitely is a “purple” place where red and blue intersect and that is where we get all the crossovers. One clear illustration of this is the cabin where Jo finds Alice in ep. 1 (“across the lake”). Blue reality has the painting of the wounded angel. Red reality has the changing. Purple reality has the changing demon on the stretcher of the wounded angel blending the two. Therefore- the existence of the “purple” place does not depend on a third “yellow “ reality (with cruise ship Bud)

@@JBuckStudios It's the "yellow" universe! Yellow Jo is the one that pushed the button and can be seen in the window by Paul.

Maybe they wanted to make sure she’s dead, the depressurisation drained a lot of blood from her lacerations? Just a knock might have resulted in death

This episode was okay but not my favorite, since we had already seen bits and pieces of this universe in previous episodes, we already could piece together what was happening to this universe's Paul, sure it was cool to see but I felt like it was more filler than anything just to make sure the Audience "Got It" that this is clearly different universes which by now we already should have.

I think there is a thrid Jo who is the only survivor, and she doesnt have a husband or child. She presses the button. I think we see her pull up in this episode. Its hard to tell what color her car is.. looks black?

It appears that way, because the CAL device is blending them together. I'm just as curious as you are about Magnus, because in episode 1, 2, or 3 one of the Alice's asks where daddy is, becuase he's not in the cabin

This is the most drawn out boring sci-fi in recent memory
It's been obvious what has happened yet after six episodes the writers still think it's a mystery viewers can't figure out
Thank God I didn't pay for this

I'm not really liking the show all that much, i find my self skipping ahead a lot, but we'll see how they make all this payoff in the end .. it could be good but I think they're ace is a 3rd reality to explain away the confusion

Well stop skipping ahead and enjoy the show 😜 it’s quite great, and LOTS to be missed if you don’t pay super close attention. Hell, even paying very close attention there’s a lot to miss.

      @ObsessiveGeek 2 месяца назад +1

Yeah, you’re just making it harder to enjoy by skipping.
It’s not a fast paced series, it’s slow and dramatic. Sometimes very intense.
The enjoyment comes from going on the experience with the characters, trying to make sense of things that seem impossible yet are occurring.

Me too, but he had to get there quick for the timelines to match up. Maybe he shot off quick if he killed Paul? I think it's more likely that there are 3 realities at play now

    • @ObsessiveGeek

@@JBuckStudiosFor now I feel it makes more sense the events on the cruise happen much later, I’m thinking it was Paul that reawakens Henry into action because the version we met here seems to have accepted his lot in ice (despite implying he is still aware he’s been swapped).

In the first episode when Alice hears her mom died she drops the beads and doesn’t even finish the necklace! I think there are more than 2 universes and we are watching 3 or maybe more which totally makes sense if we are talking about a multiverse.
