    VIDEO INFORMATION
Constellations’s final episode did exactly what everyone was hoping for… Confused the heck outta things even more **NO NO NOOO
I mean there are some kooky things brewing, weird theories we have, our reaction/review of this first season, along with some thoughts on what a potential Season 2 may have in store for Constellation viewers like you, so strap in!
Kicking things off, this episode is all about The Shining. Yes Stephen King’s famous novel, but more specifically Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 screen adaptation, as this finale episode features some haunting music, similarly to the movie along with a winding road, an ominous building in the middle of nowhere, which seems to be haunted by unexplainable things, creepy twins being one of them, a man maniacally swinging an ax, amongst other things, soo uhh the more you know.
Anyway Jo is rushed off to Irena’s secret secluded medical facility, something we had theorized last week, and learn that this is the Beelitz Sanatorium, recognized by the Red Army memorial statute. Now in our world, this is currently abandoned, essentially a ghost town, with an odd history. For example, Adolf Hitler actually stayed and recovered here at one time, whereas in the lore of the show aka the Blue Universe, it appears the buildings were never fully abandoned. The architecture is surprisingly coincidental, because I saw these circle windows symbolizing the two universes at play, and the middle being the liminal state we witnessed with the cabin.
Things happen fairly quickly in this opening, and I personally think the stress of Jo undergoing these mysterious procedures, combined with the anger of Bud smashing the CAL, allowed the liminal space to thin, and a potential shift happened again, for example the freaking ALIVE Jo with half a face at the end of this episode. So let’s just jump to it, the ending shows the Jo that was left up in space, with what looks like a damn bear clawed half of her face off. The interesting thing is this might be the blue universe. Yes we know Red and Blue Jo’s switched initially, but the iPad image shows Jo and Alice wearing a blue sweater, something that we concluded back in episode 1 to be the blue universe. I also chalk this up as THIS Jo was the one who helped both Paul and Jo with the ISS escape pod clamps.

I loved your comparison with The Shining, to expand upon that; Outlook Hotel is a place where lost souls go and drives people to madness much like what is happening to Jo and Paul.
The biggest reveal is the CAL apparently forces accents to occur, the existence of multiple realities isn’t dependent on this device.
The finale definitely went in an unexpected direction, season two I’m guessing will focus in the baby/s that Jo has in her womb, these I feel will be a biological replacement to the CAL.
Bud seems to have a plan too, will be interesting to see how his story develops.
This show s without a doubt my current favourite, I’m going to rewatch it all now to see what else I can find.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the series as a whole.

I quickly give Constellation a rating of 9 out of 10. For me, episode 8 was excellent, as it furthered our understanding of key people but also keeps us wondering what will unfold next in season 2. Blue Alice continues to be a stabilizing force open to possibilities. She will have sibling challenges with the new brother/sister, as she goes down the rabbit hole in the next season. I do believe Paul switched personalities with his other self, when we see him in the hospital surveying 2 whole arms. This is all brilliant to me because of my personal experiences with a now deceased schizophrenic friend who impacted my life maybe forever. Mirror universes, parallel universes with multiple dimensions & mind perceptions are all very real. Who are we - any of us?

Interesting viewpoint! I agree, I definitely give the show 9/10 and liked ep 8 quite a bit. The fact that Blue Alice comes to the realization that she and wrong mom need each other is reassuring but also interesting. Interesting in that, in the future, perhaps they could work together to find answers or switch the world back correctly.

Also i think because Jo is from the red universe and got pregnant by Magnus who is from the blue universe Jo is now able to see into both universe more clearly. Hence y she saw 2 men in the room and when Irena touched her she saw Valya.

I do think the show is implying that when you die, there is no heaven or hell (ergo no God) - rather, your consciousness - which is an unknown state of matter/energy has to go somewhere. If you die in SPACE, then your consciousness somehow hangs in a liminal space able to exist in various timelines/realities.

Great pickups on The Shining and some other movie parallels. Agree on Paul’s - they’ve swapped. Agree that raises questions. Jo’s eye isn’t blind. It’s actually the opposite; she’s taken on Blue Jo’s eye and she can now at times see into both universes. That’s how she saw two Vlad’s in the room instead of one. Also why she kept flash seeing The Valya which is the first time she’s been seen outside of some liminal space like the dreamscape. Jo’s eye can see her at times now. Watch this play out in season 2. Ive seen other theories about this. But you imply that Bud and Henry swapped only once. However i believe Bud and Henry first swapped initially back on Apollo 18. So Bud was bitter because it was him that saved his crewmates, however he was swapped to a timeline where they had died and he was living with the consequense of this. Thus Bud sets his revenge plan up to kill Ian on the boat and shoot Paul. He then switches back over again to the timeline he originated. We view Bud as the bad guy, and hes done some nasty stuff, but he was the original Henry/Bud that saved his crewmates on Apollo 18 and did not get any of the praise or rewards from that.

  • @phrozenliquidz

07:45 - I don't agree that Magnus reaches that conclusion at all. He thinks Jo is crazy and needs to get better, he definitely doesn't buy in to the multiple universe theory at least not at this point in the show.
09:45 - I am more inclined to believe that Bud just wants to live the lavish life he sees as his rightfully deserved life more than having a sinister plan. I view visiting Ian Rogers as and wishing him well as a way of self absolution for the murder he committed. Now that Ian is alive in this universe, he can wash away his guilt and kind of pretend he gets a do-over.
11:49 - If you "know the rules" you know all instances of people swapping have been under high stress and life and death situations, all of which is present at the time of the Paul swap. So it definitely isn't too shocking if that's what happened.
14:08 - you mentioned a lot of time stamps and you are definitely on to something but you missed the date on the sonogram reading 1/2/2010... which would be close to Alice's birth... possible production mistake? seems unlikely given everything else you've pointed out.

    • @ObsessiveGeek
      @ObsessiveGeek 2 месяца назад +3

Not completely, he knows “something is off” it’s putting that all on simply Jo going crazy though he’s had several experiences himself he cannot understand.
I agree he’s not in the same mental space as Alice, but overall both are on a “let’s just accept this” path which seems to be where Jo is headed too (though baby will likely complicate matters once more).
Strong disagree on Bud, he’s flaunting a victory over Henry and gave Rodgers flowers like you would if visiting a grave whilst laughing maniacally…he couldn’t be any more sinister!
All the characters have found some type of resolution, and have found themselves thrust into a new direction though so curious to see how this will impact the story going forward.

Hey, it was super to follow this first season along with your videos👍
If you or anybody can help with this- I still CANNOT understand:
    1. How comes that after the ISS incident and switching to blue universe, RedJo is totally fine with the image on her ipad showing blue Alice and blue Jo...
2- When she is asked to retrieve the CAL before leaving the ISS, the same RedJo did it without asking any questions as she knew what it was.
3- When RedJo in the blue universe goes to ESA building to test her pills, she witnesses a scene where Bud is sitting at Henry's desk while this one is trapped behind the screen- how is that possible? I mean it seems that they have already switched.
4- The scene at the Star City planted trees garden- RedJo in Blue universe and BlueJo in Reduniverse interaction does not match and they don't see each other as they supposed to.
5- At the cabin, Bud in the Blueuniverse (after switching) drops bluealice and collapses- we can even see his body in an aerial scene so the whole crew coming to rescue bluealice should have seen him too. So what they just let him there unconscious in the snow??
6- I get the liminal approach and the fact that BlueJo pushed the button in both red and blue realities and IS now in her own blue reality (because of the ipad). So is that zombie BlueJo back from the deads? Bluejo who did not die because time passed differently for her? Or a third purpleJo not dead not alive like the cat in the box actually?
7- Also I guess only minds switches realities, so why Henry is sure to have a different DNA??

One thing i am curious about is the other joe still alive because she was left up there or is she alive because she has become Schrodinger's cat? If the first circumstance is true then we really need to know if paul was cremated or not. Because he might still be alive somehow. But If Joe is the cat then she isn't really alive but she isn't definitively dead either and that's fun to think about....

I understood the concept of acceptance for what is because nothing entirely stays the same and that life once had can never be again no matter what.
To take what is left with gratitude and work with it sharing the moment of change with someone close still leaves that emptiness and hopelessness lingering, but it is what is and it's all that you have to hold on to to keep that wasting sanity at bay.
Looking forward to the second season, the hanging ending left me hungry for more .
The living corps out there, I think it's a nightmare of her multiverse, the death remains apart of her as she shifted into another reality .
Theoretically for every decision we make and will make creates a different outcome and branches of into a superposition which in turn is a recipe for multiple realities.
There could be so many different outcomes to the next season, innumerable number of outcomes. Every theory is technically possible. I'm looking forward to seeing what is chosen.

Jo and Irena and, I guess, Paul, are all quantum entangled with their alternate universe counterparts. That's why "dead" Irena and "dead" Jo are actually still alive because they are entangled with their alive versions and I guess being alive is stronger than being dead so that state is chosen, instead of them both being dead, I dunno? "Dead" Paul is then buried alive, I guess. Only Henry and Bud are able to switch bodies because they are both alive, but I suppose alive Jo could enter her "dead" Jo body because the brain is supposedly preserved? Maybe because her body didn't rot on the ISS, lack of bacteria or something? Also, there are totally 3 universes, the Fisher Price cassette player is quantum entangled too and we saw one melt in the previous episode, but now there are 2 intact ones, so the 3rd melted I guess. Even in a show that can extend to additional seasons, the penultimate episode should start to bring focus and clarity, but episode 7 just confirmed things that were obvious by episode 2, and instead added more mystery and confusion. And the final episode doubled down and did the same. It's hard enough to tell a sensible story about the multiverse, and adding non-linear story telling made it worse.

@@ObsessiveGeek While Sci-Fi is fictional, it's crucial for its world, lore, rules, and limitations to be well-developed and logically connected. Authors such as Stanislaw Lem, William Gibson and many others excel in this aspect. While strict realism isn't necessary, a coherent and well-constructed world greatly enhances the enjoyment of the genre. Unfortunately, this TV show falls short in that regard. Hopefully, it will be improved in the next season
BTW: In the show, there's a child's tape recorder. It's puzzling why Alice can communicate with a different version of herself from another universe using this recorder. Logically, as the authors described, only people experienced in space should be affected by quantum effects (perhaps due to quantum spins?). Initially, the authors showed that the CAL device can decrypt recordings from other universes, leading me to believe this is the reason it could affect everything around. However, later on, the device crashes while the tape recorder continues to function. This is just one example among many others.

@evgenxpp Sci-Fi very often taps into aspects of Fantasy too.
Suspension of disbelief is essential whenever watching any fictional eries.
There's enough surface level logic and consistency in-universe as well as scientific understanding that keeps the show leaning more in towards believability.

@@ObsessiveGeek This is just my personal opinion, and I don't aim to convince anyone else. While fantasy elements are acceptable, even magic should have some logical consistency. Take, for instance, the child's tape recorder in the show, which I find nonsensical. It's presented without any explanation or reason. It just works. On the other hand, consider the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. Despite its fantastical elements, everything is logically explained. Take the scary navigators, for example. They can navigate spaceships through means that seem purely fantastical. But Herbert provides answers to almost every question. Why are they so scary? Because they consume spice, which mutates them. There's no need for a detailed physical explanation; understanding the link between spice consumption and enhanced mental abilities suffices. Why can't they use computers? Because it's forbidden in the universe, as Herbert delineates. What is spice? Worms produces a substance, when this substance, known as pre-spice mass, comes into contact with water, it triggers a reaction resulting in spice. What are the worms? They are colossal and perilous creatures unique to Arrakis. Herbert meticulously describes the worm's life cycle, from sand plankton to sandtrouts to mature worms, crafting a fully realized and logically consistent world.

@evgenxpp The entire concept of this series is a mystery/ thriller with events seemingly tied to somewhat scientific theories.
Explaining exactly how a thing does what it does goes against that concept.
Logically, consistency then isn't tied to "how" in the conventional sense, we're given story and character motivations that strongly suggest that is the reasoning for the events playing out the way they do.

Probably the worst season finale they could have delivered. Felt like a filler episode after episode 7, which was superb.
Season 2 isn't even in the works yet.
