I haven’t found anything remotely similar to the brilliant multiverse writing of Dark on Netflix until this show. I feel like Dark greatly prepared me for this show. Ugh both are so goooood
Not sure but Dark is in another league. This show was fine but really Alice is overly annoying as a character couldn’t bare her the last two episodes
Both are masterful, BUT by season 3 of Dark I had given up trying to follow who was who and when/where. Still liked it though. Constellation is masterful!!!!!!
Great vid!! Can’t stop rewatching all the episodes and noticing new bits! Like when Alice wants the iPad video and not a book being read, it’s because it’s her real mum and jos face is confused as she doesn’t remember recording those vids. Also Bud can be seen in the picture frame reflection in Ep 1 when Henry is rushing past trying to figure out getting the CAL back. It’s the best show I’ve seen!!!
Thanks! We're the same, often going back to double-check certain details etc. Apple has been producing amazing shows lately. It's a great show i agree but I don't think it tops 'Foundation'.
I think the show would be incomplete if the Jo characters don't at some point make a switch back to their original realities, most likely in Season 2 but can hope for next episode! When the Valya visited blue Alice in her dream at the hospital she said do you want to see your mother again. The result of that switch is unknown - do the bodies switch too? When Henry & Bud switched in this episode, Henry couldn't read without his glasses, hinting that the bodies might switch too. Lots more unknown that they could explore in season 2, just 1 more episode would be hard to wrap it up and do justice. Loving this show but hate the idea of waiting 1-2 years to know!!
I dont think its bodies but consciousness that switches.
Jo's counterpart in the other reality died, hence the reason why she can't switch back.
If the body switches too then you would not need glasses when you switch. More likely that your mind switches to a different body that needs something you did need before (glasses, etc.).
There are at least 3 realities though.@@cyber6sapien
It seems that being in space is what allows people to swap realities. This is why Henry and Bud are able to switch back to their original realities through simultaneous traumatic events.
The reason Jo is stuck in the wrong reality is because her doppleganger in the other reality died.
definitely something odd going on with time. episode 6, when Paul pulls up at Bud's apartment, the sat nav says the time is 22:54. episode 7 when Henry face unlocks Bud's iPhone, the time is 21:06...
I agree something is going on with time but that time difference could either be continuity or the time difference from where Paul travelled from to get to Bud. We presume they were close but he could have actually travelled to get to him.
@@Q-Dads Ah i see what you mean - 22:54 could have been the length of the car trip Paul had just undertaken... good point :) also, I need to re-watch the scenes involved, but based on the dates of the cassette tapes, and the video footage shown during Paul's inquisition by ESA - Red Alice's universe seems to be in 2023, but Blue Alice's is 2021... .again need to double check if I've got that right
Oh wow, that's a good spot... I'll have to go back and rewatch that myself as now you say that, I recall someone mentioning a 2021 date and I just thought to myself 'that's odd they've set it a few years back'. Didn't think much of it at the time!
Yes, i think paul inquisition is 2023 and the tape that paul is telling about jo's body is dated as 2021. I believe we are watching diferent time lines
Good stuff
I don’t think Jo will return to her reality. I think she’s stuck where she is and will have to figure out a way to cope with this new life.
Thanks for the comment! We think that Jo might have a chance to go back in S2 and we'll get to see how that affects that reality.
I think they did in it the film by showing us she got her chance to confirm/meet her actual daughter and let her know she loves her and say goodbye. If it follows through, it is a coming to terms for all, the harsh reality of life and death, sorry, pain that and things permanently change and everyone is affected. ( please forgive any typos etc. I gotta go out of town) Peace
I would be disappointed if Jo doesn’t get back to her reality. I think some of the how and why could be left open to explore for future seasons. But I would like to see Jo get back to back to “her” Alice
Excellent ... Thanks
Have really enjoyed your coverage of this show. Definitely subscribed to your channel for future ❤
Great theories!!! Best I’ve heard so far!
Glad you think so! It's nice to hear people say this :) thanks
A big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff
If the inconsistencies include a 2 year time lapse, the unexplained reappearance of Irena who, Jo knows, is dead in the Red Universe etc should have garnered a far more intense reaction. Why would the characters Jo/Paul not be more shocked or in disbelief? The car being the wrong colour is a non-event when compared to the divergences listed above. I just find the idea that they chalked it up to mental illness and we're resigned to accepting it unconvincing and not in line with the assertiveness that's part of their personalities. Does anyone have a better take on why Jo/Paul seemingly passively just accepted the huge deviations from their original timelines? Shouldn't Jo have had a more visceral reaction upon being quizzed by Irena who, in the Red universe, is dead (Jo is an astronaut she definitely would have studied space disasters and fatalities during her training and would know Irena isn't the head of Roscosmos). That the creators have seemingly been remiss about these aspects is quite frustrating for me.
Thank you sir
You're welcome!
Bud/Henry would know what the Cal is, because the Cal research existed in all realities. It's just that the Cal research got discontinued in Jo's original reality,
years before Jo's space mission.
The daughter presses the button
Yeah Ben suggested this theory a couple of episodes ago. He thinks maybe a future Alice enters the ISS
That is a new theory I never heard of... I mean if we are talking about possible future... Never thought about that cause for me it was in both cases (Paul/Jo) was the floating arm/corpse pressing the buttons by chance... Still the daughter theory sounds interesting, thanks
Makes me wonder if the moon landing denier's death caused anything.
One thing that is really confusing me is when is this present day supposed to be?!?? Cause Irena would be old as hell if she was an astronaut in 1967!!!
They are both 87ish Irena and Henery. Living in the present day! Irena is the dead cosmonaut that hit the craft Valya that what's her name in universe B
@@soreloser18 that’s crazy they don’t look or act anywhere near that old!!!
@@brianaandrews8899 being in space for so many years changes your molecular structure and they were working on that machine which divided their cells probably slowing down their aging process
@brianaandrews8899 I ment slowing them down
PS Where in England are you from?
Is “liminal space” even said out loyd in this show?
I don't think it is unless it was mentioned by Henry when he was first examining the CAL data... I'll have to re watch and double-check
@@Q-DadsI’ve heard it mentioned in other videos about this episode yet i feel dumb for not knowing about it.
Yes. It was mentioned by the 'conspiracy nut' brother and sister who gave Jo all the space recordings.
The sister talked about liminal spaces. Said outer space was liminal, and took them out on the boat to a more liminal space on the sea/fjord.
Also the psychologist analysing Alice says that her age (10-11), is a very liminal age. That may be a reason the two Alices can more easily communicate/see the alternative realities
Who saved red alice from the cabin, if both of them locked themselves in the cupboard and joe only saved one?
I think there’s something weird going on with time. So technically Joe lets her out. The scene from Episode 1 at the end. Where she find red Alice in the cupboard.
Red Alice didn't need saving, as it was the red cabin that was on fire, not the blue cabin.
@@Q-Dads interesting, so, different versions of herself let both Alice out?
I think so many of us are taking such a deep dive into this show that we’re missing simple clues and details - The Valya is Jo. Let’s call them “Supernatural Jo.” Anyone else with me?
I'm open to it, but the Valya speaks Russian.
Geeze my head hurts for you lol do you have a sinus infection or what ???
I'm finding it quite boring as I haven't a clue whats going on and if there's a season 2 I will kill myself for wasting so much time on it.
Mate if you think this is boring. You need to try Invasion, by far Apple’s slowest show.
@@Q-Dads Slower than Foundation..? Don't these people have script editors..??
Foundation is a visual masterpiece. It's less slow and more dialogue based with almost every line being important to the show... Something Invasion lacked
@@Q-Dads Visual masterpiece but I didn't care about anything I was just watching it go past - unlike say Battlestar where it was so involving I thought I was on board the ship :)
