Noel has said he wrote it as a direct response to Nirvana’s I Hate Myself and I Wanna Die “seems to me that there was a guy who had everything, and was miserable about it. And we had f*ck all, and I still thought that getting up in the morning was the greatest f*cking thing ever, ‘coz you didn’t know where you’d end up at night. And we didn’t have a pot to piss in, but it was f*cking great man.”
What a time to be alive and a teenager in the 90's when this band were massive.
Seen them Earl’s Court , knebworth , Wembley buzzing on beer ,excastay , trips and coke happy days!! Could never smoke weed fucked me up!!!
@@deanojp719weed always worked with shrooms and acid for me, but as I've gotten older, I enjoy shrooms by themselves
Oasis is not a band it is a generation. One of the best band in the world.
Love from #india❤️
Mega American Oasis fan, the strength of Oasis is the depth of their catologue. They have 20 B-sides that would be plenty of bands best singles
the outro to this song always gets me
Oasis amaze me purely because they made some of the best songs long after all the good chords were used up. They found a way to make at least 30 impeccable songs that you can learn fully in 20 minutes. Truly amazing
Truly....we don’t even know for sure it we know the secret chord in Don’t Look Back in Anger still, just theories
Oasis are absolute class. Slide away is something you probably never heard off their first album. Arguably their best.
That's a pretty high praise, we'll Definitely add it to the list!
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 There's a live version of slide away, Noel Gallagher acoustic, in Chicago I believe. Listen to that. It's a long song but the last few mins are unreal. He leaves part of his soul on the stage.
@@ShellysAshes that version is just biblical just amazing
You could say Slide Away is the best song ever written in my opinion
@@ymdn9902 that opinion is correct sir
Oasis defined my youth. This is my favourite song ever. 'Maybe I will never be all the things I want to be, now is not the time to cry, nows the time to find out why' love that lyric and has got me outta bed n ready to take on the world many a time. There are a lot of technically better bands but if you invest in their music there is no better band to make you wanna take on the world. Thank you for reacting to Oasis. There are many more great songs both from Oasis and Liam and Noel solo
Also one of my favourite lyrics! When Liam sings this at shows the “find” gets me every time. He stresses it and for a four letter word you can hear so much emotion in his voice when he belts it out.
Live Forever was the song that defined Oasis and everyone at the time of its release thought that they couldn't write a better song.
Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but Noel Gallagher (massive Nirvana fan) wrote this in 1991 partly (but not fully) as sort of a shout to Kurt Cobain. The idea being that Noel felt that being in a band, having and performing to fans was an amazing blessing. And Kurt who was already famous at this point had all these things and more, seemed unable to enjoy it. (This was of course before Kurt's problems were fully understood, remember Noel was a massive Nirvana fan.)
Listening to the lyrics knowing that, the song takes on more meaning, just one example here.
"Maybe you're the same as me, we'll see things they'll never see, you and I are gonna live forever"
Noel was saying to Kurt, we're rockstars, life is amazing and we're blessed.
Letting him know in hearts and minds of the fans "we're gonna live forever".
Ps you've gotta try "Slide Away" from the same album, "Definitely Maybe". That song defined my teenage years and is definitely one of their best!
Much love guys.
My favourite oasis song! My other favourites include slide away, acquiesce and supersonic
Glad you enjoyed it. To me, personally, the moment I became a fan was when I heard this song, but the unplugged version Noel did alone.
It was the notorious MTV unplugged where Liam showed up the day of the concert, with the camera's rolling and just before they had to go on the stage, decided he didn't want to do it.
Next thing, he went up in the balcony and started heckling his brother inbetween songs.
Stuff of legends, really.
The drums at the start of live forever will stick in my head forever! Love this song!
The greatest Oasis song of them all. Been suggesting this on your more recent videos and didn't notice this haha
This and Cast No Shadow, plus the fact their last gig was in the park opposite my house…that’s my late teenage years all over
Glad I found this channel, I was a teenager when Oasis broke out. Love them to this day , I was lucky to see them live alot
The outro of this song brings a tear to my eye.
This song live at Wembley 2000, or live at Maine road 1995 are some of their greatest moments
Imagine hearing this song for the first time again❤️❤️😥
You guys should listen to listen up, it's one of their best song and showcase liam's powerful voice, and it's a B-Side so maybe not many people know about it. Cheers for the vid, always love seeing people reacting to oasis!
This band encapsulated the 90's for me. Growing up in Manchester and having similar upbringing their songs remind me of a culture around the UK at the time but especially as a proud Mancunian.
Cmon guys rock and roll star, you know you want to or its getting better manthat song really rocks and no one ever talks about it
That’s cos it’s getting better man is sh*t
20 year old American here! If you wanna hear the band that got the Gallagher’s to start Oasis look up The Stone Roses. My wife and I saw them at Madison Square Garden back in 2016, favorite song is I Am The Resurrection.
Thanks for the suggestion, it's on the list now!
You my friend have unearthed a world class band
I want to know how young u can get married 😂😂😂
@@hod2116 we were 16 when we saw the show. my cousin and his buddies were going to see it so we tagged along, had a few beers, had a great time. marriage came only recently, and it helps out a ton financially.
My funeral 🎵
The first UK top 10 hit....after this song they became massive in the UK
The is the song that first got me into oasis I heard on the radio and it blew me away never looked back.
For a fun time, fire up a doob, crack a sixer and watch their documentary, Supersonic!
Morning glory is right up there for me, great video lads!
Thanks dude, it's now on the list!

Just subbed loved the video, would be interested to hear your reaction to Oasis-Be Here Now live at gmex 1997 (liam voice used to be unreal and this gig was just before he started to lose it because of some throat disease)
@@jambo2177 thanks for the suggestion, we'll check it out next time we record some vids!
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 cheers

BEST BAND OF HIS GENERATION
all oasis songs are signature
"Oasis sound like everything and nothing I've ever heard before" says it all.
Don't Look Back In Anger, Cast No Shadow, D'You Know What I Mean, Gas Panic, Where Did It All Go Wrong?, Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Lyla, Importance of Being Idle, The Shock of the Lightning, I'm Outta Time and Falling Down next, please.
So many more even! Crazy how many great oasis songs there are
This whole first album, 'Definitely maybe,' is all about being broke and bored, stuck in meaningless cycle, whilst numbing that pain with drugs and alcohol. But still believing you have it in you to get out and rise above it all and become a star!
There's so much hope and ambition in all of these songs!
Talk about 'write what you know!'
*breathe damn lyric videos haha love the reaction lads. I’ve just gone back to the earliest oasis reaction to see the evolution. Legends!
While grunge was coming to an end in the states we were given Oasis. It truly was a magical time.
The lyrics of this song mean so much to me. "Maybe I will never be, all the things that I wanna be, now is not the time to cry, now's the time to find out why" was the saying amongst fans of my football team when the club was on the verge of shutting down (the club will never be as successful as we dream but we still love it, don't cry that the club was on the verge of shutting after over 125 years, get angry, find out why, and sort it out so we can continue .... the fans ended up buying the club, paying off the debts, and continuing it to this day "we'll live forever").
Also "we see things they'll never see" applies to both following my football team (supporters of the bigger teams will NEVER expereince what the real fans of smaller teams will), and my professional and personal life (seeing the craziest of technologies, visitng countries and cities that many won't, and seeing both the wildest weath and the most extreme poverty and suffering, beyond what anyone can imagine: we see thing's they'll never see!
Slide Away, Masterplan, Listen up are worthy of a listen
I pride myself on being the one who made them successful. I worked as a barman at Gleneagles hotel when Sony took over the hotel to promote the bandd they had found worldwide. The CEO used to come in to the bsr afterwards snd used to ask me my opinion onthe bandd I’d heard. Oasis were on the last night and I said to him they are the ones to sign, now look at what they have done.! They performed this song and Cigarettes & Alcohol and I was blown away. The world is welcome (takes a bow)
First video that got me into you guys best reactors on RUclips always happy when I see a new video 👍🏻
Slide away, cast no shadow, the masterplan 😎👌
Never interrupt an oasis solo🤯😉🤣
Exactly what was thinking. That was lame of the guy.
Noel actually sings the high “live forever” vocals on this song as you can see in the live performances, anyways great vid love oasis
Just found you channel guys love the oasis song reactions guys they are my favourite band im 22 and instead of listening to stomzy and rap i listen to the good stuff like before i was born lol
Awesome song
Proper music
The first song I really liked was champagne supernova. Then I bought the DVD. I grew up in the 90s.
No joke there the best rock n role band in England
all the tier s bands are from england, The beatles, the rolling stones, Pink floyd, Queen and Led zeppelin. the top 5 biggest rock n roll bands
Nice one, lads. Try ‘Columbia’ from the same album as this. You’re welcome! Cool vid, cheers from NW England
Noel would sing 'you and I are gonna live forever' live, and I'm pretty sure it's him in the studio recording too.
It’s Liam in the studio recording - watch a live performance of this from 1994, liam does it until his voice couldn’t hit that range anymore
Best band in the world by a country mile back in the 90s .
We grew up listening to Oasis 👌👌
on the note of guitar solo's- check out Pink Floyd comfortably numb live (PULSE performance)
Guys you should listen to Oasis - Gas Panic! That's a whole different "darkish" vibe song. AND great!
Nice, on the list now!
Gas Panic is one of my favorites. Very underrated song
Sick tune!
Listen to the live version of gas panic at wembley 2000. Its 100x better than the studio version, just like the live version of live forever at maine road 1996 is way better than the studio version. Raw power when liam sings live!
@@jackburns4839 In this case studio version better, Liam started to show the sign of the Hashimoto's Disease (hoarse voice).
Man I’ve been watching you lads since you started…. Thought I’d have a look back… You boys have been on a fucking trip!!!😂
The solo though
It needs to be them playing it live to feel the whole force of this song.
The verve the drugs don’t work classic
Guys for something a bit rockier try Bring it on down off DM or Headshrinker off The Masterplan which is a collection of their B-Sides to the main singles. Also the song The Masterplan, which is a masterpiece played and sung by Noel.
yesssssssss
im not british, but all best rock bands are literally from england, i mean. The Beatles, The rolling stones, The who, Pink Floyd, Led zeppelin, Queen, Black sabbath, Oasis, Coldplay, deep purple, Iron maiden, Def leppard, radiohead etc
True
Just forget Radiohead
stone roses and arctic monkeys
Coldplay! Lad have a word, first 2 or 3 albums were good but absolutely rubbish after that.
@@gb8924 agreed ...but how gud is “a rush of blood...”?? I can’t listen to anything they did after it but that is one solid album
For what’s it worth by Liam at abbey road studios is amazing- you should check it out
I can’t believe I was 22 when this came out back in 1994….wow
Should have done a live version for the guitar solo
Listen guys oasis are gods in the uk the USA seemed to be the only country to not acknowledge their greatness oasis could of been around in the 70s and still be considered the greatest they are the only band who's B sides were arguably better then their A sides listen to Slide away Aquiesce the masterplan morning glory dyou know what I mean colombia for confirmation they were cool as fuck to
It's really a shame they never took off in America, from what we've heard so far, they ROCK!!
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 they hated the american culture of bands being rich and miserable and they basically said that american celebrities were annoying and nobody outside of America likes them I think they got blackballed tbh cos the american media went from saying how great they were to how bad they were within weeks 😅
@@bt9762 I mean they weren't wrong about American culture to some degree lol
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 they weren't wrong oasis grew up poor and were rightly annoyed by the victim hood of student bands which the USA was churning out live forever was written directly as a response to nirvana I hate myself and I wanna die Noel Gallagher said so although he did admire Kurt Cobaine as an artist
Punctuation can be your friend.
Mad fer it
Not sure why people always comment that Oasis didn't break America!? They were selling out multiple nights in MSG. The last great Rock band the world has seen. Patiently awaiting the next one.
BC grunge dominated the 90s
Seems I missed this video two months ago, so someone else may have mentioned this, but the “you and I are gonna live forever” bit is sung by Noel, not Liam, who san the rest.
It is actually a different guy singing that’s why it’s a a little different. This is Liam Ghallgher singing, Oasis lead singer, Don’t Look Back in Anger was sung by Noel Ghallagher who was also in Oasis and Liams brother because Liam didn’t want to sing DLBIA so Noel did. He was and still is a singer but mostly wrote rather than sang in the Oasis days ❤️
'Colombia'.....is another awesome Oasis track...check it out.
Another good vid is fade in out and champagne supernova live from g max arena
Some of their best music were B sides, back when we bought cd's
Have you done a react to Champagne Supernova? Classic Oasis
the reason wonderwall sound different is because noel was singing that where as this is liam
Liam sang Wonderwall, not Noel.
Pausing thru the holiest Oasis solo :'-(
A song devoted to their mum Peggy
Lads, slide away, Oasis.
A proper anthem in the 'UK'! love Oasis x
The Importance of Being Idle, The Masterplan,Slide Away
Thanks for the suggestions!
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 And Columbia by Definitely Maybe album 😀
Importance of being idle? Take a seat
You should get the beers in and watch the Maine Road 2nd night gig from '96. That's how gigs were done back in the day. From the starting banging instrumental Swamp Song to the Slade cover Cum On Feel The Noize it's dynamite.
ruclips.net/video/icGxwZiPAbI/видео.html
Please react to this live at Maine road 96, it’s BIBLICAL
You have to listen to this song sung live in a stadium
Little by little.
Self confessed lovers of the Beatles and major John Lennon influence. Watch this song live at Maine road and the tribute gives you the shivers
"There's no way you wrote THAT song!"
- Oasis' guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs after Noel Gallagher presented "Live forever" to the band.
It was the song which changed everything for the band.
In about 20 minutes he wrote it, they needed 1 more song for the album
@@Paultrfc1 you’re thinking of supersonic I think
DO SLIDE AWAY!
The falsetto "you and I are gonna live forever" is actually Noel Gallagher. There's a DVD where he's talking about the videos, and Noel says that Liam didn't want to sing the falsetto because "he thinks it's a bit gay". :D
In the studio version Liam sings the falsetto and there are a few early gigs where Liam sang the falsetto as well. But he stopped in 95’, in 94’ he sang it.
The high part is Liam Gallagher. Liam used to sing it live as well. The studio version is also Liam and not Noel. Liam sings is live at Glastonbury Festival which is on RUclips.
It isn’t. It’s Liam as he did it glastonbury In 94.
Common misconception, but everyone has cleared it up so yeah, Liam sings the falsetto part but Noel does it live
Please react to she's electric by oasis :)
**me jamming to the song**
**they pause it**

Voted more important than Bohemia rhapsody in 21 in British music

Are you Hugo Reyes from Lost?
Which one of us?
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 the one who already listened Live Forever before
Hey lads check out Noels latest song dead to the world absolute quality
The high part is Noel... Liam would struggle to sing that high but also I'm sure he didn't want to because it wasn't manly!
Liam sung that part on the album
There are so many comments saying this and everyone has cleared it up. It's Liam on the record and Noel started to do it live in late 94/95 but it's Liam on the record
The high voice is Noel on backing vocals.
I was told it was Liam on the record, but live it's Noel that does the high part?
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 mind blown.
Get bears have a spliff or two and go play all there collecting
Gallagher 100% Irish blood btw not engkish at all.
When you hear "you and I are gonna live forever", you said it shows Liam's voice range. But that's Noel singing that part. ♡
But at the very end of the song, that is Liam singing it.
@@BB.halo_heir Actually it's Liam singing all of them in the studio version. Noel did them live though.
@@MrJuuberi it's clearly Noel's voice.
@@BB.halo_heir It’s Liam’s.
@@BB.halo_heir its liams voice you cretin
Those are some amazing lyrics even tho Noel downplays them all the time. Just a great tune but the lyrics are special. I like this particular set:
Maybe I will never be
All the things that I wanna be
Now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever
