In the 1970s I was on holiday in Great Britain with my wife. We went to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guard. Great event. After the event there was a group of six noisy teenagers, judging by there clothes I would say American who had just discovered legal drinking at 18. Anyway they were making all sorts of noise and trying to climb the fence around the Palace. Suddenly a young looking Police Woman rides up on a horse, doesn’t say a word just moves the horse sideways and traps two of the boys between the fence and the horse. It was obvious the horse was making it had for them to breath. She just sat on the horse not saying a word just giving them a stern look. After a few seconds she nudged her horse with her knee and the horse moved sideways and released the boys. All six of them just quietly moved away into the Mall. Best bit of crowd control I ever saw. Quite discrete and effective.

I have done such work, but never in such a public setting. Even then, I had to deal with idiot tourists, morons who could not keep their hands to themselves, and people who simply could not understand that some things should not be done, public or no. What a LOT of people do not realize is that while these soldiers are dressed in historically accurate uniforms and trained to basically stand there and do nothing, they ARE serving soldiers and they have a duty to perform. Cross their duty at your peril. It has been shown lots of places. King's Guard around the palace in the UK, Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the US, other units in other places, no matter where they are do NOT assume that because they look funny that they are not paying attention and/or are harmless. IT WILL HURT. 'nuff said.
That's their jobs; they are soldiers, not props, and this is a duty station. Their patience and discipline are monumental indeed considering how tourists treat them.
Why don't they keep the people away from the guards on their horse. If a emergency happened they would go into action and people would get hurt or worse. These men have a job and will do it . All these tourists are just stupid.
Visitors don’t seem to realize these are trained soldiers, not just some guys dressed up to look cute and pretty for their photos. These are top fighting men, trained to observe and react, should it be necessary. I think it is time for low barriers to be erected in front of the posts, to stop those who insist on trying to touch the horses and distract the soldiers from their duty.
I think it’s about time the government stopped all this nonsense and kept away the crowd from upsetting the horses and let the soldiers do there job. I think it’s a security risk.
To ALL who come to see these Soldiers, Please Respect these Amazing Men and Women and know the Horse is a Soldier too who are NOT there for your Disrespectful and Exhausting behavior !

bit excessive wouldn't you say? we will have an army of just generals at that rate if that's all it takes to get a promotion
He's doing what every soldier is trained to do, be highly observant and react to any potential threat.🙄
Then if he got promoted, they’d lose him sat there as a trooper guarding the entrance!
'nuff said.
True. They are part of their country's military just like any other soldier and have a specific duty to perform.
The public should be kept back from them
Like any other person providing a service..you either remain calm or lose your job. Frankly, no one should allowed to get so close!!
That's their jobs; they are soldiers, not props, and this is a duty station. Their patience and discipline are monumental indeed considering how tourists treat them.
the looks she keeps giving guard for calling out her large unattended bag during parade day is unreal... Lady ur in the wrong
It's high time to put barriers up to protect the guards and horses so the public are kept well back
How do you fence the people out without fencing the guards in? they are there for more than show, and have a job to do.
Why is it that every oriental must give a peace sign, thumbs up or other signs with their hands//fingers.
Irritating isn’t it?
I think they are the most disrextful with Indians coming in close second. . .,
Everyone of those servicemen and women and those beautiful horses are total legends and deserve more respect than what they get from some tourists.
I love watching the changing of the guard.
Brilliant job thanks ❤
I think it’s about time the government stopped all this nonsense and kept away the crowd from upsetting the horses and let the soldiers do there job. I think it’s a security risk.
To ALL who come to see these Soldiers, Please Respect these Amazing Men and Women and know the Horse is a Soldier too who are NOT there for your Disrespectful and Exhausting behavior !
These Guards do a truly wonderful job despite the rude Tourists that can be annoying indeed they are awesome and deserve respect well done to them all
Royal guard put up with a lot and the horses too. People be more kind and respectful to them.
I spotted plenty of security risks with suitcases and wearing back packs.
Well done guard.
as a farrier and horsemen of some 50 years I would so love to see the changing of the guards in person just once!
People complain that the monarchy should go - the monarchy and its pageantry and tradition are what bring the much needed almighty dollar (pound/shilling) to England
I see the sign Horses may kick or bite . I swear a lot of the people that get so close to horses need a kick up the bottom to be polite
It's amazing you can make 10 minute videos for something that takes a few seconds
The guards and their horses do a great job putting up with silly tourists actics! I hope in future someone restricts tourists ability to stand so close.
I have always lived in the USA and I miss the Queen terribly, she was such a lovely yet very strong soul Rest In Peace
I Guarantee if i went to the country of these tourists and did the same to their guys and gals they would cry racist or blue murder. As a proud brit i go to alot of other countries and respect every part of their manor. Alot of foreigners wonder why we dont like them when they move here
A good example of why guards on big horses arè so valuable in this setting.
Yeh people done realise these troopers have also probably seen deployment!
This Guard is a favourite among us viewers ......I wish I knew his name Thank you for your Service, Sir !!!
He's my cosyin his name is steven
Cousin
@@NicolaGoodchild-p5o He's my favorite also. He is always so alert and firm with the tourists, when necessary, without shouting. He has a very dignified presence and incredibly handsome.
Im ashamed that these soldiers and horses are put through this ...Why ?The royals have a love of horsers.....but dont they realize how upsetting this is ..its done in their name ...shameful
I would much rather someone check and it be nothing than not check and it be a bomb.
Reminds me of United States Air Force band, a lot of precision. Very nice to watch.
It does not pay to tangle with the Kings Guards They doing their duty Protecting Royal property
People should be made to stand back from the area. I dont see what the big deal is with taking a picture next to the guard or horse.
That beautiful police horse appears to be proudly instep with the band
Which breed of horse is used by the Horse Guard? The soldiers do a wonderful job. The horses are well trained. And absolute beauties!
Irish Draught horse.
Strange! Didn't see any armed police inside and outside the gate in this short video.
People need to respect these soldiers. They’re doing their duty and shouldn’t be photographed endlessly by tourists who don’t appreciate what they’re doing.
I respect them for their brave duty of protecting royal people that dont do shit but smile and wave around while eating up tons of tax money. And dressing up like a fool from the napoleonic era really is necessary and its not totally obvious that this show is gonna attract tourists.
Many tourists are so disrespectful to our British Ways and Values
Очень красиво!
Чувствуется неординарное, чисто королевское, сохраните это монархии.
He is a Guard, That is what Guards do. It is his Job to Guard the Castle from threats. The Definition of his Duties are in the word Guard. Common Sense people..

This horse has a lovely pink nose…..beautiful creature.
I still don’t understand why the public are allowed so close to the horse and rider, and the area.
(Look how many backpacks there are in this video). The horses are so vulnerable. There should be a barrier somewhere…..and that lovely white horse was walking in time with the music.
I miss queen Elizabeth Also 😢
Long live the King and his soldiers. What they do on a daily basis enduring packs of picture hungry wolves. They sometimes don't ever get the respect they deserve. Magnificent display ❤💯🇨🇦
I’m sure tourists don’t realise thy soldiers doing a job . Guess they think they there for fun . Such a shame for kings guards
My favourite guardsman at the left side of the gates facing out into Whitehall.
I am amazed how many people walk around with roller bags/luggage let alone backpacks. They should have a explosive K-9 on duty at all times.
Great idea!
Whose dumb idea was it to allow the disrespectful people to have contact with these horses. It might be rather dangerous one day. Hope they change the rules for the security of the Guardsmen and their Horses!!
They shouldn’t allow the public to touch them period there not play things for people’s amusement ❤
NO one should have a suitcase near where those soldiers are stationed. Too easily to have an IED in one of them.
Alert and handsome too!
I think the military band is wonderful and guard was on the look out!!!
Nice to see Rishi popping out of number 10 for a quick photo at 2.14
Good for king Charles knowing his guards need to outside too
They are regular army troopers, the king doesn't recruit them lol
Hi again hope that the king Charles has been asking the guards horses have been feed and got some water too
The Brit army civilised half the world and stopped them eating each other..:)
To save anyone the ache of watching this 2:18 and 2:32, a tourist stepped away from their suitcase and the guard asked not really loudly if they belonged to the tourist. That's it. Nothing more.
What an absolute letdown this video is. Worst video on RUclips. Bring back the dislikes.
Thank you, @beakytzw!
Good job Soldier! 🙏
Do you think the White horse leading the Guards in is thinking "I must be a very good horse" All these humans here to watch me. 🤣
I believe that each horse instinctively picks up on the sense of duty and pride as it's rider/guard on his back.
