Technically bridge is indeed the fastest. But for time trials I would recommend going into the tunnel (LR i think) lap 1 because of the coins. Also just out of recommendation habits I would recommend using roller wheels to get faster times.
This is a personal issue, but I can't stand how silly Roller wheels look, so I'm using the Leaf tires instead which are pretty similar but with -1 on Accel and Drift (and +1 on Speed). Not the most optimal, but a decent alternative for fashion tards like me lol
Hey man just wanted to say this is really high quality! I don’t know how old you are, but I can tell you when I started I was 14 and no shot I was making videos this good! Great stuff man!
This is actually a more analytical and open-ended answer than I was expecting from the length of the video, but I realize it was entirely because you decided to condense the information in a way that's still easy to understand without having to break down every last little piece of information like some others do. Really high-quality stuff in a video that keeps focused and doesn't meander. Subscribed!
Bit of feedback for you from a fellow video creator: The background is music is a little too loud sometimes and it drowns you out. I genuinely love the topic of this video and I feel it's very informative, though! So good job on that! Just needs some tweaking in the technical part of it :)
in regards to "adorable": please don't infantilize him, he's creating insightful gaming analysis content just like anybody else would who was older, and you wouldn't call those videos "adorable", you would just respect the content for what it was.
You sound hella young dog, but you've still produced a pretty high quality video. Keep it up and I'm sure your channel will get huge, man. One tip is to look into sound compression, to ensure the volume of your video is smooth and there aren't many spikes or valleys in volume. But still, great job. Truly!
The levels sounded ok, you could just tell there were occasional segments where a few sentences were re-recorded - no big deal. Background audio dipped nicely whenever there was speech. Clearly spoken and recorded with good delivery. Don't go OTT with compression because it is fatiguing to the ears unless done judiciously. I enjoyed this video, nice work. A lot of prep clearly went into this.
One thing I feel like I should add. If you are far away from first, take Cannon. It is slower, but the extra item box is highly likely to offset the time difference you gain from an extra Bullet Bill, Gold Mushroom, or Lightning. If you are that far away, the 5 second penalty can easily be worth it. (That, and you have little chance of hitting a hazard)
It’s generally not worth it if you’re far back, it would only save time if you pull a bullet or shock. The only time I would ever take it is lap 1 if you’re starting from the back. You get 4 coins and an item, still not useful in regionals/ worldwides just because that people are slow, and sandbagging might not accomplish anything unless you dodge shock. I would only do it if you’re in a competitive 6v6 and you want to stay back to get shock for your team. Shock in a 6v6 is very strong in Yoshi Valley as you can hit the other team after they pass the last item set and they won’t be able to take the shortcut
It's nice that someone made another fastest route in Yoshi Valley since more people are getting into Mario Kart 8 especially now we got DLC coming. I always take the bridge route because I knew it is the fastest.
Wow! Even though I knew the answer would be bridge, I was impressed by the presentation and depth of the answer! Even going as far as having variations with different skill levels and modes! Very well done! This is my second video I've watched of yours. First being worst build and so far you're doing great!
I remember playing the OG course on Mario Kart 64 and the left-most routes always take you there the fastest. But you're completely right, it's highly dependent on the skillset and capability of the player to handle the various routes. The fact there's any variability at all for that is really cool, considering the OG course was from way back when *I* was a kid 😂
Thank you for the video! I've always been to lazy to research it myself and just went LR each lap, so this is definitely good to know. I'd love a similiar video on Ninja Hideaway from Mario Kart Tour when it gets added to MK8D next month.
@@Jopes me too! Never played Tour because I don't like gacha mechanics but I've checked out its tracks after the dlc announcement and now I'm really excited to olay them!
I've always driven Bridge because it's just the fastest. I save time and get an Item. Bridge is pretty hard on 200cc but I always go for it since every milisecond count
Really Nice Video. I've wondered this question myself which is probably why this video is being recommended all of the sudden by RUclips. A bit of feedback: The background music in the intro is too loud relative to your voice and I had to make an effort to focus on what you were saying. This immediately made me want to click off the video as I assumed this would be a thing throughout. I'm glad I stuck around because the rest of the video was pretty good. The background music was somewhat loud during the montage clips, but it was passable. Work on the audio levels and your videos will be that much better. Your editing otherwise was very good. Best of luck on the channel growth.
FWIW had no real issue with intelligibility concerning speech over music listening on crappy phone speakers. That said the music could maybe be dipped eeeever so slightly more to make it absolutely perfect.
This video hits all the marks for me. Love the background music, research, and editing. Also the cadence and clarity of your voice is very professional. Good to see a new creator that devotes time and effort right off the bat.
At first I was annoyed that RUclips would recommend me some kid's attempt at a video. But it's definitely not just an attempt. Great guide, great procedure, insightful and nuanced analysis! You got a sub!
I'm glad this video came up in my feed. Very informative, since I've always had a bit of a tricky time trying to figure out which path is the fastest one.
Wow, just wow. I always go for bridge, and this verified that I was doing the right thing. What I love about this video is that you put it in simple to understand terms and made it interesting. I’m much less experienced though, since I mainly play Wii instead of 8. Thank you so much for this video, this is my favorite map in Mario Kart 8.
I love how your videos are either scientifically sound investigations into things people think about but never really think to research and are incredibly high-quality videos looking into the topic of choice Or it's a title in all lowercase like "blueshell gains wallhacks" and it's a few seconds long The duality of man
That's def a like from me, this brings me back to days when I tried to be a content creator too. I abandoned because I wasn't good enough, but I believe you have what I didn't, and I see a lot for you. Great video!
I love Yoshi Valley. It's the only course (that I know of) where the Blue Shell can get lost and just break. Good to know what routes are great at what times!
Personally I started using LR after testing each path with the fastest first lap I could possibly do (without mushrooms) but it was very close between bridge and LR and in the end LR just became natural for me to use because of how no one uses the path(mainly because none of the bots use it but still many players don't use it), there's way more coins in LR and also because LR makes it easier to avoid red shells in the next laps. I do occasionally use the bridge path but most the time I get hit by something when going that path
I always use LR too. I didn't even realized almost nobody took the path, for me it's just natural so I don't care. Also, if I don't mess up, I can do a purple drift in the tunnel when exiting it. Even if it's not the fastest path, I always saw I was close to the other players that were near me before taking it so for me, it's good enough. I don't play competitively anyway, and I'm pretty sure my main isn't that great for it xD
Yeah I use LR too. I decided on it after time trials and testing and I found that for me personally I just felt the most comfortable getting drifts out of it. I didn't really realize that the bridge was fastest though.
Instant Subscription ... I'm a LR-guy from day 1 back on ye ole N64 but from now on I will try bridge more often. Thank you. I love how scientifically serious you are about this. More!! xox
Dang, I’m impressed! Awesome stuff, man! Quick suggestion: if you’re able to add an EQ to your audio, you can make it pop a bit more by increasing the levels a bit around the 200-300hz range, cutting a little from 1000-2000hz, and increasing the brights around the 10,000+ range. This is what most podcasters do, and once you play around with it you’ll find a balance that sounds good. Aside from that, awesome job! You’ve got real talent.
I was just thinking that speed of each route differs based on racing conditions, but then you got to that point by the end of the video. I'm impressed.
That last think that you said about the "yt recomendations" hit me, cuz that is how I found this video. Also my curiosity about this crazy stage. Hope to see you grow mane! your content is good

Yes - roller wheels are a must! These tires you’re using currently are no good
I don't know why but sometime when you go on LR (tunnel) the blue shell doesn't follow you in the tunnel and make 1 laps and disappear
This is a personal issue, but I can't stand how silly Roller wheels look, so I'm using the Leaf tires instead which are pretty similar but with -1 on Accel and Drift (and +1 on Speed). Not the most optimal, but a decent alternative for fashion tards like me lol

That's volume matching and leveling. Compression is a bit more complex than that and can ruin the audio if use carelessly
The levels sounded ok, you could just tell there were occasional segments where a few sentences were re-recorded - no big deal. Background audio dipped nicely whenever there was speech.
