Mario kart 8 deluxe with glider and Mario odyssey music on a Nintendo switch
Propably not longer than ninja hideaway, but big blue shortcut also has a lot of air Time and propably the highest non glider air Time.
I think the shortcut at the end of mute city is longer than the big blue one but the big blue one doesn't count because it's a glitch
@@squishypeanut42 "Physics Engine"
@@squishypeanut42 I don't think it's a glitch, it's related to the slow fall effect near anti-gravity. I'd say a glitch involves breaking collisions or exploiting them for instant speed gains.
@@Dartnix it's because the physics of both big blue and mute city are the same as being under water. But it's still an unintended shortcut which makes it a glitch
@@squishypeanut42 I doubt it’s a glitch. Anywhere nintendo doesn’t want you to go in that game, you’re not going to go. Also it was included in mk8 and mk8dx. They would have removed it in mk8dx if it was unintended
Holding an ultra mini turbo while going off a glider ramp gives you considerably more airtime. Check some of the older Mario Stadium WRs for examples
for the record, yoshi valley has a glider tunnel as well.
Theoretically u could get 2 bullets in 1 increasing the time
Nice job on the video! In the past, you've had a few issues with audio mix, but this one was mixed well. Just as a point of constructive criticism, however, the entire audio level of the video was a bit low. I had to turn my phone most of the way up to get a good volume.
Keep up the good work!
I had the same audio issue, but good video nonetheless!
Same. Didn’t want to leave a duplicate comment, as his videos are pretty good and it was probably a small oversight
Same, the video is pretty quiet
Well said.
Yeah same with me, but good video nonetheless
This kid is a fantastic content creator. Can't wait to see what he does over time.
Agreed
Ikr! Subbed! My only “issue” was the low volume but other than that, quality stuff
*they, but agreed
@@ursamajo.r could you at least get proof before assuming someone's pronouns
Well said
Well thought out though I think i disagree with the bill being acceptable. The bill didn't look like it kept hight so much as transforming the player then dropping to function like the antigravity sections so I see no difference here between the bill and what was already ruled out. Only other issue is the audio is rather quiet.
I have to agree, I was mildly disappointed with that. I would have preferred to see what items like mushroom, star, etc could do to change it if at all.
I'd also have to agree since the bullet bill seems like more of a kart without the wheels
Just turn the volume up
Interesting stuff, appreciate the thoroughness! Hope your channel grows a lot, you deserve more views and subs.
It’s going to grow a lot more if the rate of views keeps up
Yeah now at 36k and is growing and growing faster
The presentation is very impressive for someone starting out and no doubt there is potential, but it is not thorough. Missed many cannon gliders that could be quickly googled, didn't discuss the effects of using different speeds, lots of content creators take a lot longer of playing time to produce similar videos. This style is valid too but I have to give the credit for "thorough" to other creators right now, probably who have more time to kill. Maybe one day this creator will get there too
2:55 I believe the “tunnels” in Cloudtop Cruise and Yoshi Valley also count. Mechanically they are identical, even if it does use a cannon instead.
Sweet sweet canyon as well
@@lonca_47 yooo that too, can’t believe I forgot about it.
@@cowboyluigi5275 in order, sweet sweet canyon, sunshine airport, cloudtop cruise, rainbow road, n64 yoshi valley, and big blue. I checked all the tracks.
Also one in sunshine airport
@@drydryb0nesshorts JJT already mentioned it
I would also count Sweet Sweet Canyon's flying section to the "glider-tunnels".
I really enjoyed the video. Your ideas for the videos are so creative and interesting.
And Yoshi Valley
Also one in Cloudtop Cruise.
And Sunshine Airport!
Your videos are great! but this one has some issues with the audio. It's waaaay to quiet! Otherwise, great as always
If you're slower (like being strck by lightning) wouldn't that increase air time?
But you would lose the bullet bill when you got struck.
Slower (seriously?) or not, Gliding's always been fun enough I'd prioritize staying in the air in most races. DLC resulting in the greatest anything wasn't very surprising, but good analysis nonetheless!
Though I'm not sure how well this could be done on a Tour stage, mushrooms typically allow for a height gain as well. With that and techniques to slow the vehicle, perhaps there's still room for numbers?
Iirc gliding is only really slower in 200cc, in the others it doesn't make that much of a difference.
Depending on the bounds of the stage, you may be able to get longer airtime by gliding off the track, since out of bounds is lower than the track itself. As well as that, getting smashed with a Blue Shell also causes you to stay in the air for longer, though I don't know how that would compare to Bullet Bill because for some reason you didn't show the full uncut clip
Also doing a long glide into a bullet bill if BB is still in the rules
Glide into bill into perfectly timed blue shell then.
On the first day the dlc came out, i tried ninja hideaway with my lil bro. At some point i was second and got hit by a red shell just before hitting the glider ramp near the finish. I stayed in the air for so long and glided so slow that i thought it was a glitch... I think i got 11 when i was finally out of the glider section. Maybe that would help get the airtime up🤔.
One note for the vid. I think there is a glidertunnel in cookiecakeland track as well.
I don't remember the English name but in italian it's Vascello Nuvolante and it has one too
Sweet sweet canyon! :)
I'd check some other kart stats over just weight - I have a feeling the slower the air speed, the longer you'll be able to stay in the air in ninja hideaway. You're always going to get roughly the same distance due to the updrafts, so if you're travelling slower it would probably help.
Also, I *think* tricking off the updraft gives you slightly more height
Air speed is a very weird stat I just found out. It turns out the heaviest kart in the game, the steel driver/bone rattler, has the worst airspeed while the lightest kart, mr scooty/biddybuggy has the second worst airspeed. The inkstriker/sports coupe has the best airspeed. Slick tires have the worst airspeed while sponge/cushion have the best. Heavier characters always have more airspeed.
Isn't 50cc slower than 150cc for the air Time ?
Yes it is. The time increases from roughly 10.42s to 12s
There should be a gimmick in mk9 where you can open anti gravity or gliding when you are by a body of water. You either drive through it normally, glide over, or drive on the water.
Few things to say on this video. First, Those "tunnel gliders" are called cannon gliders, and they're in Sweet Sweet Canyon, Sunshine Airport, Cloudtop Cruise, and Yoshi Valley. Second, I can think of a few more places to maximize time in the air gliderless, one being the ramp at the waterfall section of mount Wario. I also used 50cc, the lightest combo and had 0 coins, but only got 2.3s. Maybe that setup could work for other ramps but I'm too lazy. So then I thought about mute City and big blue's shortcuts. For both I did 200cc because I realised the speed class doesn't affect the gravity, and in 200 I can get further down the track. For mute City I got 5.1s, for big Blue I got 5 seconds. Those times could be optimised but I'm pretty sure that's the most air you can get without a glider. Third, I think bullets shouldn't count, and items as a whole shouldn't count because trying to get hit by one to maximize air time is too finicky and inconsistent.
Good video though
The goat is back! Love the content. I can tell you put a lot of time into your videos and it’s impressive. Hope you’re doing well!
Nice video! But the audio is really quiet for some reason...
Was just about to comment that
As a complete noob to the physics of Mario Kart 8, is holding back on the analog stick really the best way to stay in the air the longest? Maybe there's some fiddly way you could dive down then pull back up to stay up longer. Probably not, though.
Great video nontheless!
That’s the other thing I was gonna point out. I feel like there’s some finagling that could be done with this using super Mario 64 diving methods.
2 things to try
1. Use 50cc mode as that makes you go slower therefore giving you more airtime
2. I find when your somewhat near the ground, to dive and close to the ground as possible to the quickly jolt back up just before I hit the ground to get me more airtime but I've never actually timed this so not 100% sure
Very interesting video. It would've been cool if you did like a top 3 just to see how some other jumps compare. Great work!
Can you get two BB as items? Maybe this could be an optimisation.
The bullet bill will last longer depending on your placement in the race, so that might make a difference
awesome video
omg verified
Fantastic work as always! One thing I noticed is, that your titles aren't that accessible to a wider audience. For example: An average pleb on the Internet is probably more likely to klick on something like "How long can you fly in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?" than your current title, since "Air-Time" isn't as self-explainatory. This isn't supposed to be a Hate-Comment or anything, I am just trying to help you grow. I hope everything made sence, because english ain't my first language.
Going back to his videos two years ago where his voice feels so off
It'd be cool if they introduced a very glider heavy stage in Mario Kart 9 where basically the whole stage is using the glider with some resting spot in between.
I’m pretty sure that, if used at the right time, Mushrooms can keep you in air longer than a Bullet Bill.
I'm really enjoying watching this channel grow. I love videos doing in-depth investigations into silly things, lol. All of the ones you've put out so far have been really high-quality, too (other than minor audio issues, but that'll probably get better with time).
This was an amazing video, I love the dedication you put in them, however I think the audio is a bit quiet, I had the volume on max and couldn't hear it enough. I love the videos though, thank you for the amazing content!
The main problem with the bullet bill is that its path is influenced by the ground, so I don't think using the bill would work out, however I do know that mushrooms can prolong glider times by a lot.
5:37 I'm going to have to disagree about using the Bullet Bill cuz while, visually, it seems like you are off the ground, if you just watch the time stamp, the bullet acts like it's driving on the ground... and that's cuz it is. While the bullet has the ability to move itself away from the ground and fly (if the track permits it like during bouncy mushroom sections and glider sections), during any other part of a track, the bullet will ride along the ground. So the text best option I can think of is to use a golden mushroom.
This should be remade, because new DLC tracks (looking at you rock rock mountain) might let you stay up for longer
They are actually called connons, not glider tunnels. They can be found on a lot of tracks including:
Sweet Sweet Canyon, Sunshine Airport (but its an invisible cannon, before the platform), Cloudtop Cruise, Rainbow Road, N64 Yoshi Valley, and Big Blue
On 3DS rock rock mountain(or alpine pass) at the end, you can stay in the air for about 13.5 seconds, provided that you hit the boost pipes.
ur mic quality is so random lol
ikr, sometimes its a potato and sometimes half not-garbage
The Mute City jump gives you a surprising amount of air time if you pull back the control stick the whole way down. It might be the most air time you can get without a glider.
Just wondering, are you from France? I was doing some online on mk8d and there was someone who was using the combo you always use and they were from France. Ps: Love ur vids
Please keep posting :D
Im not very sure but you can last a little longer. By pressing down and pressing up in the right time you will get more air , just like the cape power up in super mario world.
Cool video, but the audio was absurdly quiet. Most videos are at a good level when I set my PC volume to 20, but this video I had to set it to 80 to hear what was being said and it was still quiet.
Very well written, structured and edited. While I didn't agree with using the Bullet Bill as a valid way of extending air time, I was utterly impressed by what seems to be an affinity for content creation in general. Looking forward to what other video ideas you have in store for us.
Along your videos i've hear a bit of inconsistency with the audio. Dw about, the video is great and you'll get better
I love your videos Jopes. Can you do a video on the fastest path in dolphin shoals?
There's another glider tunnel on the candy track. As well as the cannon on Yoshi's Valley.
3:00 I think there is also one at Sweet Sweet Canyon at the beginning...
Nice video! You could probably optimize the time even more by using slick tires for lower air speed and not tricking off the ramp to give you a slower overall glider (getting enough height to reach the bill strat doesn't seem to be an issue). Asuming that bills don't count as touching the ground there are some other potential strats to consider such as: taking the final glider on cheeseland and gliding right into the bullet extension starting on the first turn will give you air time from the first glider, around 12-13 seconds of time in the bullet and it will again release you on the 2nd glider which you can then delay all the way until lakitu picks you up. I haven't tested it but it might have some potential. Another one might be to do the final glider strat on dolphin shoals and tilting up until you reach the finish line and to then use your bullet for the extension which will take you all the way to where the 2nd set of items would be.
However the best way to get maximum air time that I could think of would be the following: set it up so a player in the front is holding a bullet on ninja hideaway. Then with a player in the back you chain items until you get the item combination bullet and ghost. You use the bullet so it releases you right as you enter the glider. As it turns out there is an item set right on that glider. You take the item and hope for another bullet. While still in the air you use your ghost to steal the other bullet from the player in the front. You use your 2nd bullet and if you time it just right it will release you in the air right before the finish line which should allow you to use the 3rd bullet without touching the ground. This method should in theory give you an air time of well over 30 seconds🤔
your videos are extremely unnecessary which I why I find them funny
Another glider tunnel is in the candy level from mushroom cup
i forgot about that one!
@@Jopes there's one in yoshi valley too, cannons count i think :p doesn't matter much probably since those don't give as much airtime regardless
the site bugged for me and the views just said "69,:" nice
You can also just stay still on an anti gravity section, as you will hover there.
I love this chanel and I can't wait for more 😍
what if u bill, barely go over the glider ramp, glide, and bill again?
This channel is underrated its really good plus any tips for new youtubers
him spelling rainbow road like rainow road pissed me off
I love how you can read these track names horizontally in 1:40
Would it be possible to use the Bullet Bill to chain together two long airtimes?
maybe, but the place where the first bullet bill dumps you is right in front of an incline, so you hit the ground on the frame after the bullet ends. you would have to have some insane timing to stay in the air the entire time.
Good video But i think when you can get a louder mic.
There’s a “glider tunnel” on Sweet Sweet Canyon
You should go with the slowest kart in the air. (Bone Rattler/Slick/Paper Glider)
Whats the music used at 3:02? Good video btw
you can actually extend your glide time by tricking off of a ramp! the best way the see this is in grumble volcano where you can take the left path right at the end of the lap, then aim a little downwards to hit both the ramps and extend your glide.
This is measuring air time, rather than glide time- but yes, landing on a ramp greatly extends air time (and can be useful for taking short cuts without mushrooms!)
Cool video, but the audio is a bit too weak
Video is way too quiet. Also, I wouldn't count the bullet bill lol. But glad you showed us the longest time without it first.
I can barely hear the video unfortunately.
does playing on a lower cc increase glider time?
Nice vid! Also, what editor do you use if you don't mind me asking.
Fascinating topic, and all possible because of 2022 DLC!
3:00 There’s also one in Cloudtop Cruise
can u give an example of ur arduino experience
There’s another glide tunnel on sunshine airport
you kinda quiet but I like the video :D
Bro, you´re a great youtuber, keep it going
I absolutely adore video game data science lol
I would consider sunshine airport, yoshi valley to be and the one above the clouds a tunnel flight too. I like this mechanic, it reminds me of the canons in mkw which I always loved
2:57 Yoshi Circuit cannon is another one
Btw there is also a cannon in Yoshi valley
For the bullet bill, you stay in it longer if you are far behind. So doing this in a regular race is optimal.
Your Channel has potentional.
there is a bullet extension on ninja hideaway that ends right before the glider, if you do that and use a second bill after you can extend it to 29.46 seconds
Not sure if any of these will be the longest time but there are definitely some tracks in which you can extend the glider via some well timed speed ramps. Examples would be DK Jungle and Grumble Volcano. The Grumble Volcano glider right after the split caved paths can potentially be extended if you manage to hit the speed ramp on the raised platform on the right-hand side whilst airborne. In DK Jungle if you take the glider ramp via the sharp left turn after the wooden bridge you can hit all the speed bumps that lead into the temple allowing you to glide all the way in. You've also got Toad's Turnpike in which you could potentially use the ramp on the back of the trucks and continuously land on the other taller trucks that have mini ramps to further extend the airtime. There are probably tons of others too
what about changing the cc?
2:56 there's also one in
-Sweet Sweet Cannon
-Cloudtop Cruise
-Sunshine Airport
Edit: -Yoshi Valley
Some more "tunnel ramps": last glider of big blue, first glider of sunshine Airport, sweet sweet canyon, first glider of cloudtop cruise, yoshi Valley cannon
Great video, however, it seems that you left out a few things.
1. If you enable motion controls, you can actually input two down inputs during flying: one from motion controls, one from the control stick.
2. Big Blue's shortcut (although probably not longer than Ninja Hideaway's glider section) has VERY LONG airtime.
3. Again, although it probably wouldn't have gotten more airtime than the glider section, it seems you forgot to hold the control stick down in the Mute City trick "ramp".
Again, great video, but definitely can be improved! I hope to see you improve as you make more videos!
Were you using the worst glider in this video? Would it not cause more air time due to it being slow or no?
edit: literally 15 seconds later I got to the park where you changed the car combo
The audio is a bit low
I got 30.97 secs, Athens Dash 50cc, only bullet bills, no coins(even tho i dont think it matters in the air) Held back on the 1st lap glider and uses a bullet bill at the end, it drops you off in mid air between 2 platforms so i used a second and got 30.97 secs
Good video 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
The bill could possibly make others more viable. If you can find a gilder spot followed by a long bullet extension zone, it might overtake what you've got.
Something I never knew I neeed
On rainbow Roads glider tunnel if you go on the left ramp and then hold right the whole time I believe you stay in the glider longer because once you get to the end, you will drift down to the lower track where the right ramp brings you straight to the lower track instead of above it and then down
I might be wrong
I believe if you hold back on your joy stick and uses mushrooms, you can get more air time.
I bet this video was released on April Fool's cause gliding in MK8 is a joke. MK8 is good but why oh why did they ruin gliding so much?! In MK7 you can actually extend your airtime a lot using mushrooms as well as just normally staying in the air longer. Coconut Mall is the biggest casualty, besides from being ugly, the bad gliding and the really tight bounds ruin the last turn. It's a shame cause that part's really fun in MK7, you can skip a substantial amount of the parking lot and get to the finish line.
Also I don't think bullet bills should be counted.
As others said, the audio is a little quiet, however I prefer it being too quiet as opposed to too loud cause I can just turn it up.
I feel like I came off as a little negative in this, good job on the videos!
I know the video is a little old but you could revisit this now. There's a few more track options and you didn't consider using bullet bill extensions, which can make you stay in bullet form for longer. It's entirely possible that you could find a glider ramp with slightly less air time which would let you glide straight into a bullet bill extension.
I'm thinking if you can get enough speed into it, the blue mushroom on mushroom gorge with triple shrooms to get you over to the gap jump, before activating your bullet on the gap jump would probably work. You'd at the very least get an extension from the gap jump and the first mushroom, and possibly the second set of mushrooms too?
EDIT: Actually, there's a really good bullet bill extension on Cheese Land that drops you into a glider. If you had two bullets, that's probably your best bet
Amazing video, love how much effort you put in these! :)
I just have one question and I really don't want to come of as weird but do you identify as a boy or a girl?
Eitherway, love your videos :3
question: pronouns?
