@@storybabble fingers crossed, Let's see what Sony does. If they don't give that we have to tell them but i hope they will give it, they didn’t mention it in their presentation because it's not an mind bowing thing to highlight. But it's very very important thing for indie and solo creators. Let's see what happens.

For everyone waiting on a firmware update be very careful. My fx3 is about 3 years old and out of warranty I updated from firmware 4.0 to 5.0 through the creators app it literally bricked my camera and it was not operable I got in touch with Sony Pro support and send it off to Precision Camera and in turn was quoted $1,100 and with Pro support I get 20% off and then they told me that because the cameras out of warranty they can give me an extra 10% off but I still have to pay for my camera being brick from a firmware update because it is out of warranty apparently the Control Board needs replaced also part of that quote is to replace the sensor filter that is not related

@@storybabble that was the whole selling point to pay extra for the F55 over the F5. But I guess most people looking to buy the a9ii never had an expensive proper cinema camera in their radar to remember.

I agree. I have always thought it would make sense for for Sony to sell optional slide on EVF?that way people could choose to have one or not. For me I would pay more for an EVF. But I’m afraid no camera is ever going to be perfect.

I tend to agree with you, it really makes no sense to have the A7SIII if you have the Fx3 for video, but I don't think there will ever be a ND Filter built in due to size. That is a feature reserved for the FX6 and above.

I would love to see breathing compensation for third party lenses. I had an idea that if cameras recorded the focus adjustments in real-time frame by frame a bit like Gyro data is recorded, it might then be possible to do breathing compensation in post using that data (without having to set scaling keyframes like i do now), just a thought. I also would love shutter angle, but I do manage fine without it :)

Considering how/when the A7Siii was released/announced July 2020, Then the FX6 in Sept 2020, then the FX3 in Feb 2021. Because the way the FX series has taken over video I would bet they will simultaneously release 2 of these or start with the FX6 ii then FX 3ii and if the a7s series isn't dead the a7siv. most likely if the Fx9 ii gets a global shutter the Fx6 will but the FX3 ii and A7siv will keep the traditional rolling shutter.

    • @storybabble

Sounds like a logic thing for Sony to do, who knows, Sony doesn’t always do the most logical thing. But, your idea is solid.

Nice work Story Babble ! Do you think a Sony A7SIV or FX3II could be announced before July 2024? The Sony A7SIII update delayed releases, is this bad news for those waiting for the new devices?

Thank you. I wish I knew when Soni would announce an FX3 ii. Looking at their past releases doesn’t provide a clear pattern for me. But if Sony releases an a7siv and not an FX3ii, then I’m going to wait. At least that’s what I’m telling myself now.

I like this guys "negative" outlook. And of course, it has been spawned from Sony's constant disappointment to their S-line.
I do prefer, personally, the FX3's body type (yes, I hate the media used, along with a few more things: unusable tilt-screen in daylight, UGH!), and I am willing to wait for the second version. Hopefully, the FX3 ii comes with the list of features you suggested for the A7S-4 (Open Gate; Built in NDs; etc).
But I do empathise with the S-2 and S-3 users. These cameras should get the same updates as the FX3, and WITHOUT exception.

I think it would use it because I often want to adjust up or down a little in post because I don’t always get the framing right when I shoot myself. But I respect your opinion. Thanks for sharing.
