    Quick question. I recently purchased the 60x and starting my light kit over from scratch. Next up, NOVA P300c and MT pro. Or would I get more out of the 600c II. The NOVA’s appeal to me is that I can effectively run it to full power with two small rig 212 V mounts. And the 600x only gives me half power effectively giving me a 300W light. 💡 My focus is real estate talking head house tours

      I have never owned a nova, but I’m sure it would be great for real estate to light up a room without modifiers. I also hear you on battery power, so I think you are on the right track. Good luck.

    Ironically, Canon R5 does indeed have almost everything you could wish for with the Canon EF to RF adapter that has built in ND filter, and use a Canon EF lens with the zoom rocker that you put on the lens, thats almost a camcorder at that point. Sony has something similar with their video lenses for E-mount but it does not have ND filter built in. That has to be put on the front, which I suppose is doable.

    The ND 1000 is used when you have artificial light illuminating your subject. If you noticed the background was dark and just right to add a light to illuminate yourself and make you pop out from the background. You can use a low budget Molus x100 which is what I use and works really good.

    I'm currently debating between DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and Insta360 GO 3S for capturing BTS footage for a friend's short film production. Since I am actively participating in the production, I won't have much time to 'consciously' shoot footage. The Insta360 GO 3S feels like the camera you can clip on to your T-shirt/cap or magnetically attach it to a surface and forget about it type camera. But I wonder how useful would those clips be. The Pocket 3 seems like a fragile camera (with that gimbal) to have on set, where the chances of it getting knocked over or knocked on are higher.

    • @storybabble
      @storybabble 23 дня назад

      It’s a difficult question to answer. My own experience is that I don’t enjoy shooting with a 360 camera because it’s difficult for me to know if I actually got the shot however, if you’re not going to be able to pay any attention at all to the camera it might be your best bet, good luck.

    Hey, great video! i just wanted to check with you as I can see you're quite knowlaglable about lights, I was going to get a couple of these mt pto from Apature but my usecase is (moodlight) for my gaming room, mainly when I am live for like min 4h sometimes 8h or longer. My question is the following: is it ok to have these pluged in to charge all the time? or for this usecase would you recommend something different? Sort of set it an forget it and have it connegted to the outlet at all times. Thanks in advance 🍻

    • @storybabble

      I love the MT Pro. Aputure has announced a sale for next week. I don't know if the MT Pro will be on sale, but it's worth the wait to see. I have a video on the sale as soon as the sale starts. The only issue with leaving them plugged in all the time is that I had a scene burn in the image of the battery. Not a big deal, but just a heads up. If I was going to plug in lights for mood I would consider the amaran T2c (not the new ones, but the old ones are still selling). These have a removable battery so you can use them without fear plugged in. They are also 2-feet and the same price as the 1-foot MT pro. I use one as a hair light in my studio. good luck.

    Mark, great video! I have a question... I am doing my first music video and I got a bunch of B-Roll from Storyblocks that will work perfectly, but when I analyzed all of those files they were all 8-bit 4:2:0. For my footage, my A7SIII was set to S-Cinetone 10 Bit 4:2:2 so the video should be good right out of the gate... I'm not much into color grading. After watching this video and trying to combine 8 and 10 bit; 4:2:0 and 4:2:2, I think my understanding of what you said is that the 8-bit would start to fall apart if I render in 10-bit 4:2:2. In this scenario would I be better off shooting in 8 bit 4:2:0? Thank you

    • @storybabble
      @storybabble Месяц назад

      They will match up just fine with your 10 bit videos because the storyblocks clips are already well color graded and you won’t need to adjust them much. Your 10 bit video can be stretched out more, but because you used S-Cinetone you won’t need to stretch them too much either, but you can if you need too. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting.

      @@storybabble Thank you, kindly, Mark. I will shoot my footage in 10-bit 4:2:2. In the worst case, I can always reshoot at the 8-bit 4:2:0 to match the Storyblocks 4:2:0. My biggest enemy is time! Thank, again

    It just became clear to me why it's recommended to crank up the shutter speed if one is planning to apply stabilization in post. The way you explained it.. the camera is the one moving & not the subject.. damn! it seems so obvious now. Now I see it. Also remembering what another guy said in his video: In a pinch, don't mind cranking up the shutter speed a bit if you don't have an ND. As long as there's little to no motion in the shot, there's no motion blur to actually worry about.

    None usb mic works for nativ call on iPhone. I know it’s frustrating at first. I give up with the dream of fully mobile remote setup with top quality . Your guest can do it with his laptop.

    Thanks for this video, I was also finding the A7iv Slo-Mo wasn't so great. I recently bought a DJI Pocket 3 and when I do Slo-Mo on that it looks absolutely incredible by comparison to the A7iv, it's so buttery smooth and a pleasure to edit; leaving plenty of room for speed ramping and covering up of errors in my technique. I just subbed yesterday with your channel after watching two videos on the Aputure/Amaran lights. Thank you sir, from Surfers Paradise in Australia

      Thanks for the compliments. I also have a Pocket 3. I use it way more than thought I would. Great device. Welcome to the channel.

    It's an excellent solution. Many people don't pay attention to this detail when diffusing light from softboxes. Tell me, does this layer need to be a little thicker than the original, right? I imagine it causes a little loss of light intensity. But my real question is: if I could cut a piece of some kind of white cloth and put felt around the edges, would I get the same effect? I mean, the basic concept is to thicken the diffusion layer and thus eliminate shadows inside the softbox, right? Thanks for the video. Greetings from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro)

      Yes, you do lose some light, but today’s lights are pretty bright and today’s sensors don’t require as much light as the old ones. And yes, you were correct. That adding diffusion is a simple as attaching more cloth. Do be careful though because you want the cloth to be fireproof. You can order, diffusion material on Amazon very inexpensively. Good luck I would love to see what you do.

    While you do mention a few good details about the units basically the SSL12 is worth it for someone who needs the extra inputs and isn't for someone who doesn't. The extra inputs and outputs are also useful to people who re-amp with external hardware, something you didn't mention so you might not do I guess but it is important to some. For podcasters who need more than two inputs and other features something like the Rode Rodecaster or the Mackie DLZ might make more sense as the SSL12 is really more aimed at music creators.

      Great insights. I’ve never re-amped, but it’s on my bucket list. Thanks for expertise. Appreciate it.

      @storybabble As you mentioned many people need just one or two inputs but there are situations where four or more come into use like with a drumkit or say even two people singing and both playing an instrument as well as re-amping to external hardware. The ADAT input may not be useful to a large number of people who buy the SSL12 but it does open up the possibility of doing really full drum kit mic'ing or even a whole band to those who do that kind of stuff. Honestly you dont have to spend $700 to get those other eight inputs working for you as the Behringer ADA8200 (eight mic input ADAT expander) is only a little over $200 and is really quite decent sounding.
