  • In this video I show some common upgrades that we like to perform to the GMT800 chassis GM Duramax/Allison trucks in our shop. We like to use Cognito suspension components and Banks exhaust systems and have had great results with them.

Always amazed at the attention to detail you put into your work. I just told the wife I hope some day to get up close to you guys and have you give the jeep the once over. Hope everyone is staying healthy. Hope to see you guys later this fall.

Thanks David. You and Kim are welcome to stop by any time and I'd be happy to give Punkin a once over.
Hope to see you guys in our travels this year.

I can't remember off the top of my head. The owner of that particular truck bought it from a gentleman who took pretty decent care of it but it needed a lot of general maintenance items addressed such as fluids, filters and some suspension components so the owner opted to have me do some upgrades while I was at it.
The upgrades consisted of the Cognito suspension components and the Banks exhaust. Otherwise most everything else was OE or equivalent grade components.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. I hope the work that i performed has been inspiring.

Another high quality job in the books. Well done Mike. Busy time of year for sure. Be interesting to follow along on the install side and how you do things in more videos. The “boring stuff” is the most relatable. Look at SMA and all the brake jobs that work still. Also it’s interesting to see how ‘Mike approaches’ these projects or just even the order you like to tackle them in.
Really liked how you talked about all the maintenance services done. I refer to it as ‘ baselining’ your new-to-you vehicle. Super important for any vehicle but especially if you’re keeping this vehicle long term or making changes to handle any deferred maintenance.
You touched briefly on guiding your customer through his purchase decisions ( or your thought process. That trust is why everyone comes to you.) that although the result was him spending a little more $$ upfront - the outcome was ultimately what he was looking for. I think explaining that process and then seeing it in the install (like you did on the upper control arm). Loved the tip about the quick bead on the exhaust even with the quality clamps. Makes a difference but it’s those items that trip people up.
Looking forward to to seeing what else you’re working on. An Artisan at work.

Paul, thank you so much for the kind words and thanks for following along on my channel.
When going through a newly acquired vehicle, whether it be mine or a client's I try to address those wear items that could potentially cause an issue and correct them prior to failure. I refer to this as "zeroing out a vehicle". I did this to all the vehicles in our stable including our RV's and have offered this service to our clients when we had our speed shop.
I appreciate the comments about my explanations but it is a fine line. I frequently get comments on my videos stating that I talk too much and then there are people like you who want to hear my explanations or thought process as I got through various projects. It's hard to find that perfect balance so I don't forget things yet not ramble.
I greatly appreciate your perspective and comments.

Bruce, thanks for the comments. I do a little side work on occasion but not on RV's as I'm in a residential neighborhood. Mainly small job shop projects when I have the time.
Glad you got your FASS system installed and your happy with it.
      Thanks for watching.

Good video. Is working in your shop your main job or do you have another?

Thank you. I am an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic by day and wrench in my shop in the evenings and weekends. We ran a small speed shop out of our last shop for twenty years but now in our new shop I just work on my own stuff and a little work for friend's when I have time. Winter time mostly as we do a lot of traveling in our coach and Jeeping the other months.
Thank you for watching and for the comments.
