nice and strong truck ever,i took a 2001 duramax to mexico and i drove the same trails with 3000 pounds on top of it, with standar transmission 👍just the real and strong trucks can survive in the Mexican roads.
Yep that truck with those tires shouldn't have any problems. The only weak point will be the break over angle but that is the case with any modern pickup.
Oh my god, is that a REAL truck? No auto-start-stop? No DEF? No massaging seats? A big engine? No power deployable running boards? But worst of all, NO 12 INCH SCREEN???? No nonsense to break down? No air suspension? And whats that sound Im hearing? Could it be... The engine? Woowe I havent heard that in a while. And what is that it looks like? Could it be........ A TRUCK?? Im in love. Not to mention its just as capable if not more capable off road then any truck today. Edit: And its reliable. Amazing, Isn't it?
My truck has the G80 locking rear diff too and I have to say that it helps out a lot traction wise. It is also really fun drifting it in the snow and doing posi burnouts too.
Bad Ass video Guys . I have a 03 2500 hd with a 6.0L and 410 rear end in it with over 250,000 miles on it and it will climb like no tomorrow . You got to love the old chevys
i never thought about it till now but thanks for sending older trucks on this course, ive got a 06 silverado so its a little more up my alley compared to all this new fangled stuff
i love the older trucks. I've had my 2500 yukon 6.0 on trails similar to this and relied only on the g80, never really had to put it in 4 wheel drive except once in 4 low to pull a car hauler tractor trailer off of a part of a parking lot where he bottomed out. I was a GM world class tech and i think these older trucks are the best of the best.
@@flight2k5 well I did state, 6 years ago, trails similar to the one in the video. Also, I live in Georgia and with the clay and mud traction is our biggest issue. Four low would do nothing if you are already breaking traction in four high.
I have a 1999 Chevy 2500 6.0 4x4 214,000 miles. ; a 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 Duramax lb7 95,000 miles; and a 2004 Chevy 3500 4x4 8.1 264,000 miles. Great video
The Fast Lane Truck , cool vid , I'm building an 85 Ford ext cab , I bought a 90 one ton 4x4 and I'm going to put my 85 body on it , I'm going to shorten the wheelbase first
AWESOME!!!!!! I knew this full size Chevy was going to make it look easy! We want more full size trucks! How about a suburban or tahoe? PLEASE! I would love to see a old Excursion, i bet it would also make that trail look easy!
Ohio belt buckle guy here, just wanted to say this is my favorite video since the bronco and old wrangler video!... mainly because I have an 02 4 door duramax with only 60k and always wondered what it could do lol thanks a ton Andre! I'm gonna love any video with this truck in it! Do a MPG one next!!!
Tmanthekid maybe a base work truck model with a small cab. Brand new in 2002 A crew cab 2500 DMAX with leather interior is high 40's new, higher for Sierra models.
+Greendude33 Mine is 2002 ram 1500 v8. Custom ordered to be perfect work and family truck. Quad cab 4x4 v8 heavy duty trans like the 3/4 ton one with cooler 3.90 rear ratio etc. all for 19k
Awesome Video! The diesels do a great job off-road. You should do this 2002 2500 Duramax and Mr. Trucks Super Duty on the Ike Gauntlet. I bet they are fairly evenly matched, the Duramax should do better on fuel efficiency and the 6.2 gas should be a little faster, but I bet it will be close.
Tires and a solid 4x4 system goes a long way. If more regular 4x4 pickups had K02s I am sure they would do almost as well as the purpose build off-road trims.
That's a very nice truck Andre! I would love to own a pickup just like that! Little tip though - use 4 low for slow speed stuff. It's easier on your engine and torque converter and gives you better control. :)
i have a crew cab long bed 02 f250, you are either dedicated and have to go down the trail or have to back all the way out because there is usually no place to turn around.... especially on some of those trails around fort collins/boulder.
The locker makes all the difference no matter what kind of truck you have. This is evident since he did "stage 1" in 2wd with no problems. Should have known stages 2 and 3 would be easy. I just wish GM would give their trucks a bit more ground clearance. Nice vid.
The height of Chevy trucks is one reason I like them. I can reach in the back of my bed but my friends F150 you have to get in it to get something out of. Neither one of us do off roading, just work. I do have a 2" leveling because I hate the dip in front.
to be fare next time you do a Old VS New gold mine hill. Try and have the same set of tires on every true k if you can that way it's extremely fare. Great show keep it up guys
Did you fix the transfer case on your truck? There is a known issue with all of the 2002 trucks were the oil pump in the transfer case will wear through the mag case and you loose all of the oil. I fixed my truck and my Dad's 2003 with a upgrade kit from Merchant Automotive, a great piece of insurance.
Bizarre issue on the NP261/263 transfer cases. (Used to work for a rebuilder, so I've seen the guts of many of these) The oil pumps were not physically mounted to any hardpoint but were simply held in place by what amounted to flanges that set into the casing. During use the pump would vibrate, effectively rubbing hard steel against the aluminum side and thus rubbing a small hole in the spot where the pump was. Saw more than a few 'patched' with a short sheet metal screw, later versions had a thin steel band added to the case in that spot to drastically reduce the wear.
I like how they get surprised when an older vehicle easily does what overpriced new trucks do. New trucks aren't any better they are just more expensive and have a lot of bullshit on them that you don't need.
S3DWU7 for sure! I had a 03 Tahoe Z71 and replaced it with a 17 Tahoe Z71 and they are both amazing! They both could easily make it. Good ground clearance and short wheelbase along with pretty good approach and departure angles
I've taken my Silverado ('06 1500 ext cab) and my YJ up in this same area many times, the size of these trucks are the biggest downfall off-road here in Colorado. Even if our GMs had Solid Front Axles the tougher trails where you need that articulation are so tight you'd be scraping trees/rocks with the body or high centering with the long wheel base.
Hello from Dominican Republic. I thinking to buy the 2001 Chevrolet silverado 6.6 duramax diesel . And cab is a little small.watching this this video i think that taking a good desicion
That generation of Chevy truck has one of the best body styles.
and best engines
Bowtie Performance right my chevy I love her she's got the half cab
I love the 800s. One of my favorite bodies.
I quite like the interiors on that generation too. Had what was considered modern at the time with good materials but still said truck.
The last seriously attractive GM full-size, in my opinion.
I do really like seeing these videos with the older trucks making it up that course. Great video.
nice and strong truck ever,i took a 2001 duramax to mexico and i drove the same trails with 3000 pounds on top of it, with standar transmission 👍just the real and strong trucks can survive in the Mexican roads.
That's one damn good looking truck, and that's coming from a Yota guy.
Recognized Andre's car in the thumbnail, been waiting for this!
Yep that truck with those tires shouldn't have any problems. The only weak point will be the break over angle but that is the case with any modern pickup.
Red Horse Have to love those old single cab short beds. Relic of the past
Oh my god, is that a REAL truck?
No auto-start-stop? No DEF? No massaging seats? A big engine? No power deployable running boards? But worst of all, NO 12 INCH SCREEN???? No nonsense to break down?
No air suspension? And whats that sound Im hearing? Could it be... The engine? Woowe I havent heard that in a while.
And what is that it looks like? Could it be........ A TRUCK??
Im in love.
Not to mention its just as capable if not more capable off road then any truck today.
Edit: And its reliable.
Amazing, Isn't it?
love the 1st gen dirty max but then again I love all Chevy trucks
Liking the used truck segments.
Blake Bradley Agreed; they’re really entertaining and more relatable to a lot of people.
And you don't have to worry about Def.
Or The stupid dpf filter either
Freddie Causey true no DEF bull to deal with, downside to buying older used diesel truck is that its maintenance costs will be through the roof.
Greendude33 I think the high maintenance cost is just a diesel thing. I'm pretty sure newer trucks are more expensive to maintain
Can we tone down the RAS syndrome here?
You both literally just said "diesel exhaust fluid fluid" and "diesel particulate filter filter"
Freddie Causey hurry up and check your headlight fluid level
I'm glad Andre keeps this truck around. It looks, sounds, and preforms great.
I love when you guys are using the older trucks!
would be awesome to see these trucks going up the Ike gauntlet!
i never thought about it till now but thanks for sending older trucks on this course, ive got a 06 silverado so its a little more up my alley compared to all this new fangled stuff
i love the older trucks. If you’ve never had to put it in 4 low, you’ve never been off-road.
@@flight2k5 well I did state, 6 years ago, trails similar to the one in the video. Also, I live in Georgia and with the clay and mud traction is our biggest issue. Four low would do nothing if you are already breaking traction in four high.

The BFGs are perfect for that terrain. I've had a set for 1000 miles so far and absolutely love them.
The most beautiful generation of Silverado.
Andrei, greetings from Russia!
+RaptorGP Thanks and privet.
I really like the small talk after videos like this. Another great video guys!
Thanks for the feedback!
older trucks, good job guys. very exciting video. sweet truck btw Andre 👍👍
Thank you!
The Fast Lane Truck , cool vid , I'm building an 85 Ford ext cab , I bought a 90 one ton 4x4 and I'm going to put my 85 body on it , I'm going to shorten the wheelbase first
these used truck vids are mega dank guys.
Great looking truck, the '99-'02 models look way better than the new ones!
AWESOME!!!!!! I knew this full size Chevy was going to make it look easy! We want more full size trucks! How about a suburban or tahoe? PLEASE! I would love to see a old Excursion, i bet it would also make that trail look easy!
Nice! That's cool to see his own vehicle out there doing the tests normally used for the new vehicles.
Andre, you should upgrade your dashboard with a no name infotainment system. Cheap and easy and the truck is golden for a new decade.
Sweet ride I'd hold onto that truck as an old faithful.
Good ground clearance, good 4x4 system, good tires, and a great driver :) Thanks for the videos and Merry Christmas!
Eighty cc he already did an mpg test on his truck vs a newer model
Tell mr truck it's his turn on gold mine hill with his truck 👍🏽
I'm glad you didnt mess up your truck Andre! Good video
That is awesome! That thing is still pulling strong! I thought it was also impressive pulling against the '16 GMC Duramax in a previous video...
this is now my favorite channel!
just remember that old silverado at one point of its life was also, a 60k truck and its living its dream :D
"Don't start with the Power Wagon..." This is gold @ 6:19
Hell yeah Andre OLDIE BUT GOODIE your truck still got it baby
Hands down one of the best looking chevy generations.
These trucks hold their value to amazingly well. Clean that truck up cosmetically and it could probably fetch 20k private sale.
Why do people pay that much. That's what 2002 trucks cost new
Tmanthekid maybe a base work truck model with a small cab.
Brand new in 2002 A crew cab 2500 DMAX with leather interior is high 40's new, higher for Sierra models.
Greendude33 it's like 8gs all day
+Greendude33 Mine is 2002 ram 1500 v8. Custom ordered to be perfect work and family truck. Quad cab 4x4 v8 heavy duty trans like the 3/4 ton one with cooler 3.90 rear ratio etc. all for 19k
James Edwards at least double that, it's a crew cab Duramax with leather interior and all the options from what I can tell. Closer to 20k
Nice truck Andre...like the dirty max motor
Love these videos! Andre's truck is a beast!
+Nicholas Tropiano Thanks!
Great video! You guys should do more older vehicle reviews!
Just checked out your guys gear on teespring and had to purchase a jacket! Very cool!
+Ricky Smith Thanks!
2:12 sounds better than a 6.0 power stroke.
More with Andre's old truck or any other diesels from that gen would be cool!!!
Now all of you TFL guys have to take your personal vehicles up this hill.
The length of the wheelbase kept all four tires on the ground, making a traction advantage.
I love the rims Andre put on his truck
Tires and a solid 4x4 system goes a long way. If more regular 4x4 pickups had K02s I am sure they would do almost as well as the purpose build off-road trims.
Best body style GM put out
That's a very nice truck Andre! I would love to own a pickup just like that! Little tip though - use 4 low for slow speed stuff. It's easier on your engine and torque converter and gives you better control. :)
Kcducttaper1 if he would've used 4lo he wouldn't of needed the gas pedal it would've idled up that hill.
I really couldn't figure out what you guys would worry about it is a Duramax in good running condition
i have a crew cab long bed 02 f250, you are either dedicated and have to go down the trail or have to back all the way out because there is usually no place to turn around.... especially on some of those trails around fort collins/boulder.
The twist and tires got u up. hope the LB7 injectors don't leave u stranded......
Sad but true. Damn injectors
The locker makes all the difference no matter what kind of truck you have. This is evident since he did "stage 1" in 2wd with no problems. Should have known stages 2 and 3 would be easy. I just wish GM would give their trucks a bit more ground clearance. Nice vid.

So want a duramax
Great engine I love mine!
Just drove my LB7 through a couple hundred miles of mountain roads out hunting it's a billy goat!
to be fare next time you do a Old VS New gold mine hill.
+Chad Ivan I did not have this transfer case problem (yet). My leak was a transmission / torque converter problem.
that's an honest seller. i wouldn't split a cost unless i could afford it .
Bizarre issue on the NP261/263 transfer cases. (Used to work for a rebuilder, so I've seen the guts of many of these) The oil pumps were not physically mounted to any hardpoint but were simply held in place by what amounted to flanges that set into the casing. I have the same truck ccsb same color and tires lol. Mines tuned, studded, fass 150, intake and exhaust, and build trans.
@The Fast Lane Truck Andre you should get a 6 Inch lift for your truck
He also wants it to be practical for towing and that fun shit
Why?
Next video should be Nathan's Tacoma, Andre Silverado, and Roman Raptors challenging gold mine hill. Would be an awesome video.
I swear Nathan has such a heart on for the power wagon
Thank you for showing your badass duramax beast I finally know what truck I want thank you very much
Please do this and the Ike Gauntlet with an old Ford 5.4! Excellent video, as usual.
Love these videos!!! Would love to see some Chevy s10 / gmc Sonoma test:)
How many miles do you have on that beast? By the way it’s great looking truck and one of my favorite generation.
Yaaassss! Take this jewel up IKE with 10-12k on it. I would love to see that!!
Love this I’d choose this truck over any 80,000 dollar truck any day.
Great job Andrea!
I like how they get surprised when an older vehicle easily does what overpriced new trucks do. New trucks aren't any better they are just more expensive and have a lot of bullshit on them that you don't need.
are you going to do this with the zr2 when it comes out
+2017 zl1 camaro/2016 camaro fan Yes. It's coming out in April at the earliest.
The Fast Lane Truck ok
old trucks are the best. classy look and no def fluid
Yall need to get your hands on a square body and do a couple videos on how you like it and offroad tests.
Do you think an 03 Chevy Tahoe Z71 with KO2s could make this climb? It has a 5.3L V8 and an after market cold air intake.
S3DWU7 for sure!
I had a 03 Tahoe Z71 and replaced it with a 17 Tahoe Z71 and they are both amazing!
They both could easily make it. Good ground clearance and short wheelbase along with pretty good approach and departure angles
Andre, nice video! What do you think, is it time for an 02 Dura max Ike Gauntlet run?
THANK YOU G-80!!!!!! THATS RIGHT!!! LOVE IT
Jessica R
The G80 isn't bad but the Detroit Truetrac is a much better "lim slip locker".
g-80- = AUTOMATIC LOCKING, unlike the lim slip? totally different.
hochhaul I think that’s the direction I’d go if I ever needed to replace mine.
So it's a 6.6 with a 6'6" bed
Nick Smith all he needs is 6.6% tint
Tyson Jezowski 6.6 inch suspension lift
Robert Cuevas 6.6" exhaust tip
Nick Smith the devils truck
Awesome love this idea. Bring some more videos like this.
Great job , another win for a Silverado
I like ye truck, Andre.
Man that's a really nice truck
Take a look at the readings of your injectors, it seems to be puffing blue when you start it up and when you give it gas.
Damn nice truck. This was the first exhaust clip tall have done that was impressive lol
I have a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 and I just realized I don't have traction control. Is that going to be a problem in snow or off-roading?
Andre you're the man!
According to specs I read, this Duramax was 235 hp and changed to 300 hp in 2004.
2:54 I love the dramatic music and you two acting like this is some fucking extreme dangerous shit
Doing this with a full size bronco would be interesting
I have a silverado of the same generation, has this particular truck ever had problems with brake line rust or have you replaced them?
I wish i had a truck like that all i got is a two wheel drive 6.0 with the 4 speed giving me 3000 rpm in highway speeds
where did you get that nice leather jacket? And great job with that truck.
Tons and tons of torque good tires big Duramax best of the best
Those oem gm mirrors? I want to know if the wiring harnesses is the same for newer mirrors
can yall do a video about how tores make a difference when it comes to offroading from street A/T M/T ect i guess any type of off roading ✌
Man I wish GM would put solid front axles back in their HD trucks.
More vids of older truck please!!
Hello from Dominican Republic. I thinking to buy the 2001 Chevrolet silverado 6.6 duramax diesel . And cab is a little small.watching this this video i think that taking a good desicion
+The Fast Lane Truck Andre you need a 6 inch lift kit on your 2002 Chevy 2500HD Duramax
