You know your too north when you get excited over Door jams being rust free
😂
@@TruckMaster hey bud!
I HATE Michigan rust
You know you're too far south when you don't value your rust free cars and refuse to put tires on when you need em. 1 rain storm and you all hydroplane into a ditch 😅
But yes. I wanna move south maybe
@@j_mars_cars So true 😂 you don’t see rusted vehicles often here in Oklahoma.
I love how everyone wants a deleted truck but no one wants to buy a truck thats been messed with 🤔
It’s because you never know how it was actually installed it could be a cobbled mess
The biggest reason i wanted a stock truck is I’m not paying for upgrades i might not want and i get to do everything myself and i know the condition/quality of the parts that are going on the truck.
jclark sometimes it’s like a girlfriend no one wants a girl that’s been messed with
Or the batteries were bead that also creates codes
becausae its had the fuck dogged out of it. buy stock, delete your own abuse it and sell it to a dumbass. been happening like this since the 70s bro
Nice job. I watched the whole thing, without intending to at first!
Same
Me too
From Cali to rusty in 2 years or less.
Facts
Are you aware of undercoating sir?
How much a idiot are you? I swear people like you are just jealous lol.
Anthony Garcia You sound like the idiot, it’s common knowledge that GM truck frames are wax coated as opposed to enamel. The trucks rust out before vehicles twice as old.
Hopefully he’s smart enough to fluid film it yearly.
Very thorough... My 06 would pass all those checks and it's at a hard 200k.
Egr flow excessive is likely from a clogged air filter, that's the first thing that throws that code.
Guy would be a nightmare to sell anything too.
huronhockey8 looks like that frame is painted with underbody spray too ......?
when you're buying for someone else with someone elses money your standards gotta be abit higher bruh
He’s smart he’s not tryina buy a rusted out bull crap truck period trucks are expensive and hold value not worth buying a 20k piece of junk
😂
I've had guys come in like this to the dealership I work at. I don't put stickers on the window, just ask a higher amount than you initially know you're going to get and let them talk you down to what they think is a good deal (your price)
If you have an 06 that’s tuned it’s an Lbz, only difference in 06 lly and lbz is tuning, with efi live your stock is “optimized stock” and they tune it to factory equipped lbz tuning
i really hope they knew that lol
Ya I don't know why people care so much about that. We all know that truck is getting tuned, so the factory tune doesn't matter at all
There is a difference... heads are slightly different and injector body diameter
Austin Mortimer you’re an idiot, go to any website and order injectors and it doesn’t ask you anything about a vin code for factory lbz or 06 lly same heads same injector same everything.
There is no 06 lly
Didn’t change them much, that interior looks exactly like my 03 lb7.
I dont think there were any changes from 03-07 like at all
99-07 used same interior seats handles etc
Different colors. Different door panels. Diff window switches. Diff instrument cluster: rpm gauge mostly.
Can't be a chevy..... all the front end lights are working!!!
Love the fact you showed the door sticker Flint Mi built UAW 598.
The Model Year changes around Jun - Jul. September 06 would be a 07
yep!!! very few cars are sometimes dont follow that but 95%do
@@timsheahan3951 There are time when we do a early model change, as early as February. It use to be the first 2 weeks of July shut down. Now we do rolling change overs and no real set schedule on change overs.
I feel so bad for the guys up north that this is a truck that’s hard to find lol down here in Texas all the frames look like that if not better
I thought the date on the sticker in the door jam was the manufactured date of the truck..so the truck would be and 07
I’m in the market for a clean LBZ. I wish you would have told the price on this one just to let us in on what you think to be a “reasonable price”. I found an 06 GMC Sierra long box with 148k miles for $21K. I’m wondering if that’s fair or too high
I just signed for a 18.5k 130k mile lbz. Rusty but frame is solid and it's stock.
The first thing you do is make sure it doesn't say whistlin diesel on the title
😂
You beat me to it 😂
My first Duramax my second truck when I was 18 thought I had a great truck . Found out it had a pin whole drilled in the cap to release pressure a few days later. Bad head gasket lol lost my shirt lesson learned
10th digit is a 7 it's a 2007 and 06 and 07 is literally the exact same truck
I noticed that too. 07 classic.
This is what a truck looks like whenever you love and take care of your stuff.
Just like whistlindiesel
Cali truck
Because I bet you any money it was bought brand new and owned by a boomer.
Mr. Big that’s true

Outstanding, very well done. Sure, as you mentioned, you really picked it apart. However that is the way it should be done. Especially for the purpose of this program and pretty much all the time. Which allows you to decide what is important to be concerned about and what isn't. Outstanding job, great information, well presented and it reflects well on you to assist your friend as you have. Hope he bought you a beer... well done, bravo Zulu.... now onto the wifemax... stop teasing !!!
Thanks Ron I really appreciate it. Hopefully Wednesday I will have the Wifemax back
I really appreciate your videos, I have been watching them for a couple years now and it has helped motivate me to buy my first dirtymax last year, It's an 05 lly crew cab chevy 4x4 and came with a 60 gallon fuel toolbox. I have watched just about every video you have and I love the before and after comparisons, not that many people do that. Thank you for your time and effort you put in these videos and congratulations on the new Duramax buy, really clean truck.
I'm glad I found your channel. I'm from Grand Rapids and love all trucks!
Thanks Tony
Put Lucas injector cleaner when you follow up with diesel it makes the oil like new
I put Lucas injector cleaner in my diesel and increased my fuel mileage.

In your professional opinion, what amount of original miles would you consider too high/no go zone?
Probably 250k
Probably had lift pump on it if it had brand new fuel filter housing
I bought one of my first cars from that dealer. I had no issues with it. Wish I known you were in town could have said HI! Looks like a awesome truck.
“What to look for when buying a duramax”
God: should have a Cummins in it
That would be cool
🤦♂️

pitbull912808 lol cummins walks around duramax
More like Cummins apart 😆
An o6 LLy is an Lbz they just called it the lly because it was detuned
Is that the only difference?
50 hp?
Them 2500s ain't no joke. I drive one for my work and it really gets on it.
They say don’t inspect a vehicle when it’s wet/raining out. But I think this is definitely an amazing score nevertheless.
The build sticker in the glove box could tell you everything you need to know about what motor/differential etc.
This guy is a drug store mechanic....I really hope nobody takes his advice.....he's so wrong in so many aspects of "knowing duramax's" 🤦♂️
Not a duramax guy but i can certainly appreciate this video.
Great info for people looking for a Duramax, I have a 2015 GMG 2500 HD. I will always own a Duramax.
I heard that 🏁 Lmm in Colorado 🤠
Y’all are just confused, that truck is a 2007 lbz. Almost all vehicles are assembled way ahead of the sale year. You could buy a 2020 duramax in 2019. That sticker on the door shows the production date. That’s the month/year it was made. It’s an 07 lbz. Truck made in 06
You find trucks like that everywhere in Texas....not that rare fellas...leave the north
Thank you, very informative! Won't find anything that nice here in Ottawa Ontario!
That is definitely the one boys.
Proud owner. Of an 04 lb7. Bought dec 03. Orig owner. 150 k miles and yes I'm a Proud Grandpa!!! Love my truck. All original. Love your channel too
Thanks Hank
Plus it’s a 13 year old truck 😂😂😂 y’all complaining so much this truck is perfect as hell for being that old 😂
viktor sanchez well people still want over 25k for a 13 year old trucks so I think people can be picky with their money js
I seen a 2003 chevy silverado 3500hd with 160000 going for 18k I did my research and it came out to 3k. Early diesel 2000 trucks are a huge rip off. That's why I'm going for a brand new diesel truck beats buying a early used 2000 truck.
@@brodybaub1161 they’re so nice though
@@CameronProvidence right? It’s not like it’s a 5k truck lol
Imagine having truck master as your personal mechanic when buying a new duramax
I just got an 05 rust free crew cab long bed lly. Blown hg. They broke the coolant reservoir cap so it would relieve all the pressure. I bought it as is. Everything looked good. But as I started driving around later in the week she started drinking coolant. When I was filling the coolant I noticed something inside the the cap was jiggling around so I replaced it. Then the bubbles in the reservoir started. I got it in the shop now. Definitely blown hg.
same
@Nonya Bizness yeah I thought about it. The whole lot
I got an lb7 03 same color. Dark grey interior 6” fab tech lift. Dual shocks in front. Air bags geared, custom subs behind rear seat 5” exhaust. Haven’t put on my down pipe yet. 20x10. With 37” nitro ridge grapplers. I would sell it for 25k. Maybe lol. 161k. Runs really well. Just kidding I can’t sell it
That’s my friends dealership! Truckmaster let’s meet up!
Bought literally the same truck with the same exhaust and arp studded. Came from the driest part of California I love the thing to death
It's not a thing, it's a Duramax. An lbz at that..
Not sure why you guys want a rust free truck when you're just gonna destroy it living in MI anyways. And lol at 50hp, like it really matters compared to trucks putting out way more power these days.
I would love for josh to come look at trucks with me so I know that it’s sound! I’m also deathly curious as to how much he paid for the truck.
I’m sorry I totally forgot to add that in the video but it was $20k
Truck Master seems like a really good deal at 20k !
Truck Master 20k not bad at all. How many miles?
Truck Master wow!! I’m hoping to jump on something similar to that for my first truck purchase!
Got my 06 lly for 10k with 93,274 miles on it
I find it funny that they’re into diesel trucks when they showed up in a Tesla 🤣 kinda 2 different worlds
HA! I have a Chevy Volt but I also have a 2500 HD Durmax . Funny how that works!
Really???
Who doesn’t love the lbz’s, those cat eyes man. Definitely my favorite truck

Hey I much appreciate this video. I got my hands on an 06 LLY Duramax that was a hand me down from a 77 year old relative who bought it new almost 14 years ago. Frame is in good shape and with 166,000 miles I’m going to have to handle a couple things to it like ball joints, breaks, and odds and ends. Now I can investigate a little further thanks to your video. Stay Tuned!!!
My 06 Silverado almost has 230000 miles lol. The v6 still runs fine!
06 "lly" is mechanically the same. Just tune it
What about the 05
Some down to earth dudes checking out some diesels.. Appreciate it. Going to check out a truck(LBZ) for the first time. Just sold my race car a few days ago to pay for my work truck. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I like that scan tool!!
Hey truckmaster, how do you like that scan tool? I'm in the market for one, and the one your using seems to be a good bang for your buck.
At what mileage should you be worried about the waterpump, transmission, and possibly injectors?
150,000 miles

@@jerredwayne8401 6.4 bulletproofed trumps a 6.0 bulletproofed all day long.
Buddy, even an 06 without vin D is still an lbz. Just has lly tuning
This convinced me to look at cummins as an option.
"Look at these door jams! Unbelievable!" I was looking at it and thought, well yea... don't they all look like that? (I live near San Francisco, CA)
Michigan
ActiveMonkey I THOUGHT THE SAME THING, SOUTH LOUISIANA IS NOT AS GOOD AS CALIFORNIA BUT TEN TIMES BETTER THAN MICHIGAN.
Can you link what your scanner brand and model your scanner is
All of these checks are interesting but what do you expect to do w this DuraMax engined truck? Is this for hauling or construction? Yes, it is prudent to examine the engine, frame and codes. Unless a truck has been very heavily used, trucks generally have good life left in them.
Love the vids man. Also I am 15 and love trucks! Keep up the good work!👍😀
Thanks 👍
If my dad was ever selling I’d say come look at his bc he keeps it really good and rust free. Yeah it gets a lil muddy and dusty but he does keep it rust free
For sale yet? I’m in the market
Right on, ive been waiting, very nice truck. I bought one out of New Mexico very clean
Nice 👍
There was a quadrasteer Denali there, you totally missed it
Check coolant for blown head gasket. Check oil for bad rings.
7:08 Vehicle production begins early for the new year. This one was manufactured in the latter half of 06 as you can see, with the September 2006 stamp, so it was marketed as an 07. Also, in 07, the newer boxier body style was released for both the GMC and Chevy so it was a split year, with this cat-eye bodystyle being maintained in production under the name "Silverado/Sierra Classic"
I've been a sales rep at a new dealership for the past 20 yrs.
Yeah should have seriously looked in Texas
Title:
Me: WD sticker and “This Truck Means Nothing To Me” on the bumper?
Leave the technical stuff to Earl!!! LOL!!! One thing to think about if a truck does come from CA (he did say LasVegas, NV) and you were getting EGR issues you’d have to take into account the emissions related things being put back on to pass SMOG, truck not pass SMOG, and the owner drives out of state to sell it. I’ll leave it for Earl to confirm!!! LOL!!!
I don't test drive anything without giving her the berries! Lol great video!
Fun fact, no difference in "06 LLY" vs the LBZ, other than the tune that was used from the factory. Same engine, same trans. Different tune.
Different turbos
@@Motard867 nope 100% identical. post glow plug recall, same tune too.

That's 15 minutes from my house. I go by that place 3 to 5 times a week. Really nice people.
I heard the Alison transmissions on these things are basically bulletproof is it true?
They are strong and they last a long time but they are not bulletproof unless you build them
Oh ok, I was looking at one recently and came across your video and saved me big time in the long run

Dang A lot of truck RUclipsr in my home state. MICHIGAN ON TOP!
That thing is mint. Really wish I could find an LBZ like that.
When I worked for Chevy (a long time ago) the next model year started in sept so that is an 07
Bought my own 2006 LBZ crewcab silverado with 4x4 in the floor. My only complaint is how quiet it is stock. I even cut off the muffler last week and have just the cat on it. All in all, its way stronger than my LB7 I owned. It only woke up when I put in 60 over SAC injectors
If the EGR was plugged, wouldn't it go into Limp mode?
If you cannot afford diesel parts and repairs, then diesel truck is not for you. Gas truck is better option.
Could you break down all the subjects you brought up in this video, well done
This is also a canadian (quebec) duramax dreams truck 😅! In our country. Its very hard to find a clean diesel truck without is fuckin rusty cab because of our winter season roads. Great truck body 🤠
With no rusty seat brackets! Amazing
Why did he want a LBZ instead of a LLY I thought the LBZ had injector problems. I ask this because I’m looking at two trucks one is a 03 LBZ with 148k miles vs a 07 LLY with 200k miles and idk which would be better since the 07 is going for 16k and the 03 is going for 14k
California trucks with 225,000 miles are going for $20,000 here in California
No kidding
Truck Master I saw one for 18 with 281,000 miles it is insane and it’s just because there is no rust it’s insane.
That's fucked I'm in Canada we salt the roads but once in awhile theres a clean lbz for 25000 Canadian so like 20000 you're money with only 120000 miles.
I wish I found your U-Tube video earlier I bought my first Diesel and did not look at the things you directed on your video. I was lucky. My 2003 2500HD loaded no rust had no head gasket problems no blowby no injector problems no leaky water pump. Guess I got a good deal on my 2003 Silverado 116,000 miles for $11,700.00

Sorry if this has already been answered but what would I expect to pay for a low miles clean truck comparable to this. I’m in Tennessee. I see rough high miles trucks around here same year model for 10-14. Is this a 20-25 thousand dollar truck? Thanks, great video.

Almost every truck that I have looked at a used car lot or even a dealership using there name , theres always something going on with it , per carfax. And get pictures of the frame.
