    Appreciate your final thoughts comparison. Navi being the better vehicle for a basic commuter vehicle with its storage and simplicity but the Grom being more for a fun hobby. Only comparison I have seen that broke it down this way.

    I got a Navi because I wasn't sure if I would actually like motorcycling, so I wanted something cheap and easy to ride. It's a year later, and I want a manual transmission and the ability to hit 60, but I can't quite part with the goofy, little, green gremlin (I call him Bike Wazowski). The kick starter comes in handy when you accidentally leave the ignition key on for a few cold days, and wind up with a flat battery. Plus, it's fun to use it to confuse people at the gas station. If the bike is already warm, I like to start it with the kick starter just for fun.

      Glad you like that one! I really wanted nut brown, but I couldn't get one around me. So I was set on buying a set of brown plastics until one day I happened to really look at the headlight dead on and realized that it looks just like Mike Wazowski. I guess I can't change the color now or the name wouldn't make sense!

      You ain’t hitting 60 on a grom 55 MAYBE and honestly I’d say the Navi is better the gears on the grom get in the way of the speed my Navi takes off on groms mainly because I don’t have to switch gears to pick up speed

    Got my Navi last summer after a 3 week wait. The dealer says he's sold a bunch and though I don't doubt it, why am I the only one I've seen on the road? That aside, the Navi is a fine "grocery getter." At 110cc, riding in town doesn't shortchange it's potential as might be the case with a Grom. Still, the only way out of town is by freeway and neither bike is allowed. Quite honestly, at 70, I've had my share of 2 wheel adventures and the Navi fills a purpose of keeping my basic skills refreshed and I hope a little more aware of other riders when I'm in the cage without the expense and weight of anything larger. Plus there's always a place to park at the casino...LOL.

    Navi: Good:Low cost, automatic, unlike all scooters rear brake is at your right foot just like every motorcycles, no chain adjustments/maintenance, low tech so easy trouble shooting, smart trunk.
    The Bad: Need some warm up, low power, small tank (very small), no led anywhere, will need carb adjustments cause they often run rich from the factory, also rejet because of your elevation where you live. So if you travel from 4,000ft and ride to sea level you will be running lean af 🤣
    Grom, the good: good power, 5 speed, good brakes, easy to find tires, lots of aftermarket out there, big tank, led almost everywhere, great gauge cluster, fuel injected so you start it and ride away.
    The bad: it has a chain so yes maintenance (get TST chain adjusters), some have a false neutral issue when shifting from first to second or trying to find neutral, no trunk/storage, no center stand (T-Rex sells one).
    Personally, I was going for the Navi, then I changed my mind to get again a Grom.
    Would I love to own both, yes I would.
    My first mods would be; grips, T14 front sprocket, chain adjuster, rear luggage rack with givi Monokey plate, LED turn signals. After what ever makes the bike more useful for my needs, no exhaust system needed really

    • @SpencerDesmarais
      @SpencerDesmarais  Год назад +2

      That's a great summary. I had some finicky real rich carb issues when I first got my Navi, but like you said, it's an easy and known thing to troubleshoot and adjust! Both have some great pros.

    • @thepab3072
      @thepab3072 Год назад +2

      @@SpencerDesmarais that's why I would love to own both. Some days I just want to twist the throttle and go not having to change gears. The Navi is a cool runabout, useful. The Grom is a jack of all trades, fun, capable, great range so pretty good for long trips. Crazy saying that about a 125 but yeah, with this new gen of the Grom I could see my self do major roadtrips. Something I wouldn't have done with my 2014. First of the seat is a lot better than the first gen, 5 speed helps to keep your cruising speed.
      My wife knows I want both... She's nervous when I go look at bikes lately 🤣

    I got the Navi, because, and I may get some stink eyes for saying it, but the Grom seems like it is trying to be both a small city bike, and a highway bike if needed, but it does neither as well, as the Navi does as a city bike, or anything 250 or above would do as a highway bike. It IS an amazing little minimoto just for the fact that it can technically do damn near anything if you needed it to. But zooming the Navi around the city, and 50 mph or less roads is just a freaking blast. And not having to shift in city traffic is wonderful. Consider the Grom is more than twice the price, and I could literally go to my local dealership today, buy a used low mile year old Royal Enfield 600 with a warranty that they traded in for $3500. For less than six grand I can have a city bike that is fun as shit and tears up the city, and a highway bike that is larger and can effortlessly cruise at highway speeds and above. I'd rather spend the little bit of extra money to have the best of both worlds properly.

    • @SpencerDesmarais
      @SpencerDesmarais  Год назад

      You can ride them, but it'd be above honda's specified weight limits. My thought would be to look more towards the scooter-ish segment, like an ADV150 of PCX150 as I think those weight limits are closer to 400lbs and they have a bit bigger engines. The ADV150 is freaking sweet, in my opinion, and is only a little more than a new Grom ABS.
      The suspension and acceleration on a Grom or Navi at 350lbs wouldn't make for a very fun driving experience, I wouldn't think. That could be fixed with replacing suspension and adjusting weights (Navi) or gearing (Grom) in exchange for top speed.

All things that were discussed in the video.. There are a lot of people cross shopping a Navi while looking at a Grom, Monkey, or Super Cub.
