I own 2 groms and a navi. Grom 3rd hens are better than the navi. You still have to have a motorcycle license to ride the navi. And at max 45-50 mph it’s not bad. It’s super cheap controls and dash compared to the grom. Grom will do 60 mph and gets there faster. The main issues are can you do a clutch? How much money do you have? And what speeds will you be doing most in your area? Navi is 1/2 the cost of a grom. Is slower and get up to speed slower. And for newbies no clutch is a plus but you have to have your motorcycle license still. So up to you.
Just bought a Navi and I like it, I do have a Goldwing so kind of one extreme to the other. You did a great job on the video ! I will start watching the others.
Great video explaining the pros and cons of both minimotos. I'm probably getting a Navi initially since I'm a new rider - maybe the Grom later after I get a better feel for handling the bike. Thanks for the excellent info!

I think I may sell it and get a kawasaki klx 300 SM as I miss the easy of being able to get on the interstate vs the Grom. Probably best to call the Navi/GROM "minibike" vs "bike" as it is not meant to be a regular sized motorcycle to go 60 MPH. I had an 798 cc motorcycle before the GROM & this minibike has potential to be more deadly at higher speeds imo on busy streets as the steering is not too forgiving, esp if u hit even small bump. Both these minibikes are made very well. Honda does a great job! Reply TID to this comment if u want me to (take it down) peace!
Oh for sure! These minimotos are definitely not ment for interstate travel. Having owned 3 supermotos they are blast. The klx 300 sm looks like a really fun bike! Great Video, just got the Navi and gonna get a Grom after the winter. There's some biking trails in my community that the navi is perfect for since its quiet and slower. The Grom is gonna be great to rip around town in and probably safer on the main roads.
I would say sure the groms quality is nicer than the navi, however the performance is not twice the price nicer (it only goes 5-10mph faster). Especially since the groms price tag is approaching full size used bikes with much more to offer. In my opinion with all things considered the Navi is the most sensible pick.

I picked the Navi for 3 reasons, as I live in a downtown area. 1. No shifting 2. Fuel economy 3. Crazy storage. Not to mention that, for a slow bike once at speed, it's 0-30 acceleration is shockingly punchy pretty much for most rider sizes. I'm 245lbs, and it takes off and runs right up to 30 before I know it. I think, with acceleration, the weight of the rider really comes into play once you pass 40- 45 mph. Before that though, it hardly seems to matter. I probably need to be at 50 mph less than 5% of the time. It may not be a 'fast' bike. But for my purposes it's absolutely a quick one. I see some downing the Navi because it's technically a scooter but you still need a motorcyclist license. Not sure about everyone else's states, but Maryland has a fast track program for people they know damn well have been riding for a bit, and aren't licensed. Hi: I am new to riding motorbikes had a z3 for a while but that’s an electric moped essentially. I don’t plan on taking this on the freeway more of a commuter bike. I am in between a 1800-2000 priced Navi 2023 basically new 181 miles garage stored. Or a 2017 grim for 2400obo with 1200 miles…
Tough decision no doubt. If you plan on doing power mods to the navi. The grom will be faster no matter what u throw at the navi. The navi storage is super convenient for commuting. If you like the simplicity of gas and go with the z3 the navi is nice. The grom lacks storage but nothing a backpack cant fix. Cant go wrong either way. 2017 grom is fuel injected making it nice long term. Navi will have carb issues every 5-10 years just natural of carbs to be finicky from time to time. Usually just unclogging jets or draining bowl. Nothing major. Both are great bikes. Hope this and the video helps you make your decision! Thanks for watching! 😎🤘🏼
Why not both? lol. I already ride a CBR650R. Gf got interested in learning to ride, so I got her a '24 Navi and myself a '25 Grom. lol. Both are fun little whips.
Bro, im trying to commute about 10miles out to work and would be taking the streets. can the Navi hang..and is it able to cut to the front in a red line and still take off fast enough?
@@hupomeno9035 acceleration will be slow out the gate stock and to quiet to be noticed moving in traffic(as a safety concern in my opinion). Definitely would need a exhaust to be heard for riding in traffic. Intake will help improve acceleration too. 220 isn’t heavy for this bike but will affect acceleration. If its only 10miles mostly flat i think it’d be a perfect cheap toy to do small commutes like this. Flat ground acceleration should be fine on 45mph roads but if its hilly it might lead to people tailgating. The acceleration with just the intake was pretty good with me on it on our 45mph main road that had lots of stop lights( was perfect) but the hilly backroads of 45mph around me the bike just doesnt have the pick up since people like to do more than speed limit. If its flat roads navi can hang if its pretty hilly you take the risk of people coming up on you. Make sure you have a goood lock and or a safe place to store it because these things get stolen like hotcakes. Its crazy how many ive seen reported stolen. They are light enough for two people to throw in a truck. Just thought id add tht. Hope this helps you out and if you got any other questions feel free to ask! Thanks for watching!
@Floatsorrolls1 Where is the best place to purchase the mods? And is it something that easy to do myself? Do you think a GROM would be more suited for my cause? Thank you for your time, and we'll thought out answers.
@@hupomeno9035 no set site is best but i like revzilla.com, Rockymountainatv.com, mnnthbx.com(based in cali), and tst industry. I think if you appreciate any sort of power and dont see huge advantage in the storage box long term you’d be happier with a grom. More power stock than the navi will have not matter what mods you throw at it. More stuff you can do to it and if your looking to get possibly a bigger bike down the road it drive much more like a motorcycle. Wont be a worry about keeping up with traffic too. Both are cool and hold their value great but would personally feel more comfortable in traffic on a grom. Having power is nice when u need it to get around someone. It your not interested in upgrading one day to a big bike and like no shifting i think either option would suit your needs as long as navi is modded and terrain is mostly flat🤘🏼😎
I think the Honda monkey is for more of a mature audience that likes the vintage looks. Most guys that are into the monkey remember having one long ago or reminds them more of the mini bikes they had as a kid. The grom is basically the monkey just differing cosmetically. so based off the video is will be for someone whom is more interested in the grom but prefers the looks of a monkey.
Heck yah it was! I sat it out cuz I wanted to see how crazy it got but will for sure be in it next year! Was awesome still seeing it from the sidelines. Looking forward to next year! Hope we see you there man!!
@Floatsorrolls1 oh we will be back for sure. Southeastern Indiana will be well represented lol. Definitely some of the best riding roads down there for sure. Seeing that many mini bikes in one place was insane!
Hi folks. Do yourself a favor and check out the Benelli TNT135. Way better suspension then the Grom, and less expensive. I bought one new in 2020, it has 12,000+ miles on it with zero problems. The TNT135 looks much better also.
The Grom is the better bike. Its priced like it is as well. I bought a Navi used for 1200$, gonna ride it until I get comfortable with the idea of a little bike, then move up.
The navi is absolutely a scooter with the appearance of a motorcycle. I think tht is much of what makes the navi cool its got the simplicity and ease of operation of a scooter with the styling of a motorcycle. Its neat for those who are intimidated by the clutch and/or not have the desire to travel above 45mph. Both are cool options but provide for a completely different riding experience.
@@Floatsorrolls1 would be nice if they have a navi that can hit 60mph. I myself own an electric maxi scooter love the tallness of it feels like an adventure bike. I started on the grom and feel like it should be automatic.
I can't ride either one of them. The seats are too high. I had to give up my Yamaha XT225 dual sport bike because I could no longer get on or off the seat without standing on something. Once on I was fine. I have 125cc and 200cc scooters with 32" seat heights, I can get on those because they are stepthroughs, I just step across the low floorboard, and then with both feet on the ground, slide back on the seat. I also have a 2006 Harley Sportster 1200 that I have no problem riding, because it has a 25" seat height. It seems ridiculous that such small bikes have such tall seats. I sat on one of those Chinese Coleman mini bikes, and had no problem. Unfortunately they are not street legal. Why can't someone make a street legal small bike with a much lower seat?
I love these mini bikes, but you guys have some balls. The older I get, it just doesn’t become worth it. Especially here in Texas, these drivers hardly pay attention and I’d just be too paranoid.
I am absolutely satisfied with the grom. It’s gonna be a little different situation person to person but for me personally. I have a 450supermoto for aggressive canyon riding, a fz07 for higher speed cruising bike and the grom for around town and messing around with buddies tht have grom. I take the grom to run quick tasks and when i just wanna put around. If i had one bike maybe id say otherwise but for my use case i have zero desire for more power or anything else to replace it. If its your only bike and plan on riding with others that have bigger bikes than a grom might not be as fun. If you plan on rocking solo or with other mini bikes, dont have a desire for highway travel and not hungry for power. These bikes are great! All a matter of use case! Hope this helps and thanks for watching let me know if you got any other questions!
I was told the navi gets over 110 mpg, but I did not research. Just saw from another person's video review. Also, no one cares about looks or at least I don't
@@M00nshine12 the gas tank is smaller than 1 gallon thats why the range is lower and definitely less with mods and based on weight of cargo and rider. Looks are subjective but i like how they look and is high on my list. Look good feel good ride good lol.
Buy a Honda grom it is way better and worth the money. Also the community and add ons. If not a clone of a Honda grom will work well depending on the company. I have a lifan grom clone. It is a better bike without the heartache of the other clones. Does start up like a Honda.
both of these bikes are over price junk get a lifan kp mini 150cc will dust these bikes and ez to upgrade the price kills both period LIFAN KP MINI IS KING OF MINI BIKES PERIOD
I wouldn’t classify either of these bikes to be overpriced junk. The grom quality is better than the navi but neither lacked my expectations nor do they lack compared to the lifan(atleast to the ones ive seen). Been really happy with both bikes. Ive seen a couple of the amazon bikes you mentioned and heard pretty good things about them but would still stick with one of these personally. Nothing against them but heard some states can be a hassle to tag them and you have to do a couple things to get them reliable. Thts just what i heard but not dissing them they are cool and amazing to get a bike tht cheap and delivered to your door is wild 😂 would love to hear your input/experience on tagging them and wht u have to change out the box?
I mean my grom is fancy but not Porsche fancy lol. They are both mini motos. Popular with new riders and have similar looks. Both are cheap toys to ride around. Depending on the riders goal civic might accommodate them better with extra storage and smooth cvt transmission. While some looking to do more than cruise and carry groceries might be more entertained by the sheer arm ripping power and improved handling of something more. Just kidding the power isn’t that much different navi vs grom 😂.
Very cool bike as well! Was in between tht bike or my fz07 back in 2016 when they were close in price. Ktm 390 steals the cake in terms of looks though.

Why not both? lol. I already ride a CBR650R. Gf got interested in learning to ride, so I got her a '24 Navi and myself a '25 Grom. lol. Both are fun little whips.
If Honda would simply make the Navi an EFI I'd pick one up.
Bro, im trying to commute about 10miles out to work and would be taking the streets. can the Navi hang..and is it able to cut to the front in a red line and still take off fast enough?
Got some questions whts ur weight? How fast is the road? And are planning on modding at all?
@@Floatsorrolls1 I am 220. Roar is 45. It's a small city street in Los Angeles . I want to mod.
What do you think, is Honda Monkey more for whom?
I think the Honda monkey is for more of a mature audience that likes the vintage looks. Most guys that are into the monkey remember having one long ago or reminds them more of the mini bikes they had as a kid. The grom is basically the monkey just differing cosmetically. so based off the video is will be for someone whom is more interested in the grom but prefers the looks of a monkey.
So true the battery same problem thank you bc I was wondering the same thing
I bought both
Cant go wrong if you got both! 😎😎
The Grom is manual only or is there an auto version of it? The Navi is automatic since it uses a scooter motor right?
Correct grom is manual with a clutch and navi automatic with a cvt. Neither one has a option to be auto for grom nor manual for navi
@@Floatsorrolls1groms are manual with gear shiftting
Do you know when honda will make a navi 125cc or 150cc
Haven’t heard any speculation on this yet. Will make a video if is see anything promising up come up!
didnt see ya at SMSBR man or I would have said what up. That night ride was nuts though wasn't it? lol
Seeing that many mini bikes in one place was insane!
mine would be the navi, but i really wished it came with disc brakes front 😁
If you strip the navi to the frame its a scooter. It make sense as the engine is at the back and all that space up front.
How tall are you? I’m 5’4 and I didn’t sit on one but the seats did seem quite tall.
@@3katd I'm 5'11". But I'm 64 and have bad knee and hip joints. Can't get my leg over high seats anymore.
The Navi is basically a “scooter” that looks like a motorcycle, is that right?
the navi is the coolest looking scooter I ever seen lol but yea it is. no gears, twist and go and solid storage!
I love these mini bikes, but you guys have some balls. The older I get, it just doesn’t become worth it. Especially here in Texas, these drivers hardly pay attention and I’d just be too paranoid.
Completely understand! Appreciate you checking out the video!😎🤘🏼
With all that money spent on the Grom, especially to make it faster, do you ever wish you had just gotten the CB300R?
@@Floatsorrolls1, thank you so much for that insight.
Dude, is that tva racoon mountain?
No its local to me here in Cincinnati, Ohio. East fork lake
The Navi is a grom with a scooter setup
Buy a Honda grom it is way better and worth the money. Also the community and add ons.
If not a clone of a Honda grom will work well depending on the company. I have a lifan grom clone. It is a better bike without the heartache of the other clones. Does start up like a Honda.
Huge price difference.
Problem need motorcycle drivers license to ride this toys 🧸
Neither
both of these bikes are over price junk get a lifan kp mini 150cc will dust these bikes and ez to upgrade the price kills both period LIFAN KP MINI IS KING OF MINI BIKES PERIOD
Thank will check it out
You made my decision easy, I’m definitely stealing a grom.
Neither one I suggest instead get what I ride. 1985 ATC250R. Plaster a Smile on your face you can’t remove.
Lol i bet! Not street legal though. Three wheelers have to be riot.
This is like saying… Should you buy a Porsche, or a civic🙄 these are not in the same category. The navi is a straight scooter.
Ktm Duke 390!
Very cool bike as well! Was in between tht bike or my fz07 back in 2016 when they were close in price. Ktm 390 steals the cake in terms of looks though.
