But for my needs, just riding around the neighborhood,my ebike serves its purpose well.If i were commuting around town though I would pick this over a grom because of the price and being automatic, and also being able to hit 50mph is great for those 45mph speed limits where a 50cc just doesn’t feels safe out there on the roads.

I guess things have changed in FL since I lived there, but you used to be able to take "Rider's Edge" (harley course) or the MSF put on in many cities we had the MSF at DBCC in the parking lot.
I was looking at a battery operated bicycle but when I heard about this I was blown away. I liked the trail 125 (especially the big back area for a milk crate for groceries). I'm disappointed so far that no other after market companies have come up with a bigger than "Honda" back area to hold "just" a little more groceries. If someone comes out with a bigger area "trunk" area...I will most likely get this!!
AWESOME LIL'BIKE ! Son got a neglected Grom at a garage sale and ordered a Navi for his wife that has a January delivery date. First batch of Navis sold in Oklahoma... He's talking about a "Wrap" custom 'paint job' on both bikes. Like the Vance and Hines custom in your video. THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE imagine this style body on some of the bigger scooters....
Great video man! And just an fyi, I think they linked the brakes for two reasons. One the parking brake duh, and the fact that the CVT does not like to come to halting stops or skids due to its nature of how it gradually speeds/slows. Unlike a clutch which you can disengage and re-engage at speed. My notes for Honda, parking brake is useless since it has a center stand which works perfectly fine on any steepness of hill because you don’t face a scooter/motorcycle directly up or downhill. Take my word, I do food delivery via (49cc) moped in Honolulu!
@@aeroflopper why would full throttle occur? Your assuming the rider makes that mistake? That’s like assuming cars have parking brakes for the same reason?
The linked brakes on the Navi exist for only one reason: it was designed and made in India based on the the Honda Activa scooter. As per Indian government regulations, any motorcycle/scooter over 200cc should have ABS. Vehicles with smaller engines need to have linked brakes.
$2700 out the door is not cheap. I want 5 minimoto to replace my Forza but will get 3 of these or at least 2. I would want the 3rd one to be have dual sport tires or I'll get a Trail 125 for non paved roads in Mexico.
I live in SoCal and have done the Balboa ferry maybe 500 times or more, mostly riding my beach cruiser bicycle. It is iconic. But now with $6+ gas, and having grown up riding motorcycles, that little Navi looks like pure fun for just scooting around.
Really cool and informative video! I have been debating getting a motorcycle for about 7 years now. It's a cycle I keep going through in my head where I think about how cool/fun it would be to put a rack on it and get groceries, or have someone on the back to go sight seeing with. There's something so silly yet admirable about the image of loading a motorcycle up with groceries. Then I think about it practically and realize how if that'll be all it gets used for, I'd be better off putting that money towards upgrading my car. Or I just rent a motorcycle for a day to get the feeling out of my system. I haven't done that yet though because I don't want to ruin the fantasy by learning how the reality doesn't come close. Even so, that doesn't stop me from running through this motorcycle fantasy several times a year for weeks on end. I just love the machines and concept. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
Do it, you only live once. If you find out it's not for you, sell it. At least you won't have any regrets. If you end up loving riding, it will open up a whole new world for you.
I had the same type of fantasy. Ended up getting a Grom that was on sale, they delivered it to me since I didn't have my license. Ended up having it for 3 years, sold it for almost what I paid. Bought two scooters as well, kept one which I still have. Next moto will be a little bigger than the Grom but not much bigger since I'm a short person. Probably a BMW 310R or similar.
Just get one! I got a Honda cb300r at 40 and I can't believe I waited so long! For the price u can't have more fun, sure it's dangerous but the feeling of being on the bike flying down the oceanside after a long hot day is incredible!
A cool looking $1800 scooter is a no brainer. Having a carb just means it will live forever, as long as you learn some basic mechanic skills. And a kickstarter? Hell yea. Modern bikes are too complicated and too expensive.
Good point, home maintenance looks easy on this honda Navi, great informative video. I have a car but the current sky high cost of gas means I am tempted to buy this for the short 5 mile commute to work! My car hasn't even warmed up fully when I arrive so it doesn't get optimal fuel economy until about 12 to 15 miles on a journey.
This is actually pretty neat because in my jurisdiction the cheap insurance bracket is 49cc-109cc. The Grom is in the 110cc-400cc bracket and costs much more for insurance - you'd be better off getting a Ninja
I bought my red NAVI in my India in 2016. Just under $900 with all accessories. Absolutely love it. I migrated to Philippines in 2018. Sold my Navi to a friend. Now back in India for a year, I repurchased my beloved Navi...which did only 250 km while I was away 4 years. I have done 10000 km...even 300 km trip...fully loaded with 70 kg luggage...after my 4th heart attack. I am on several Navi groups on FB and loving sharing and caring with USA NAVIgators! I await ELECTRIC NAVI in my beautiful Philippines where, unlike India, traffic and roads are HEAVENLY. MABUHAY NAMESTEY.
I'm impressed. For the first time ever the U.S. actually gets extra features like the storage box and the side kickstand that international doesn't get. I don't want this as my next bike but it would be cool as hell to mod one out to death though I've already done that with a Z125 so I'm not sure if it even makes sense to do really... though I love the more Tron-like look of this thing! Also, that blue one with the Kicker would be badass!
My wife and I have been looking for a mini-moto to putt putt around town, take down to the beach and grab brunch on, etc. You have officially sold this bike to me. All the questions I had about this thing, you've answered in detail and in a well shot/put together video, thank you! Keep up the great work and ride safe brotha!
Thanks for taking the seat off and going over the bike. You’ve been the only one that showed the whole bike. I was thinking about a Ruckus but kept hearing how miserable weak they are. Think I’ll check the Honda dealership .
Saw a couple of these cruising around town and talked to a rider outside a grocery store. They like it! Around town you’re going to be shifting a lot on bikes. Scoot like bikes are king in town and fun in the country.
I remember you making fun of that brown color and I was like it’s my favorite one! 😂. Glad to hear you changed your mind, I think I’ll preorder that one
I recently bought a Honda Navi. 1) can't beat the price for a street legal motorcycle. 2) The Navi is almost the same price as a fancy Electric Bike 3) Teaching my boy how to ride a motorcycle without the clutch as a beginner rider what great, he just focus on using the brakes, turn signals, start and stop on traffic, etc.. 4) As my second bike, easy to get round town specially work and stores, save a lot on gas.
I own a 78' cb400 hondamatic road bike. It's fun. It will fly. But even having had 8 other manual clutch bikes, I LOVE the hondamatic, and my wife is learning to ride with it. They absolutely should come back with it.
Love the review. More in depth than any other review i've seen And covers a whole lot of the Navi's neat party tricks and hidden features. Outstanding work man.
Linked breaks is a throwback to the original formula that made the Cub the best selling vehicle on earth, the idea is that you can do everything with one hand and it is easier to ride. Having a small bike with a big locking storage on it makes it very practical as a city and suburban commuting bike and the CVT makes stop and go around town easy. Also it's cheaper than a Ruckus.
My wife has said she would love to have a motorcycle, and if they ever had an automatic then she would be in. Well, my local dealer expects to have one in March, I will be placing my order when I go down and buy the Grom they just got in for myself! I dont see my wife riding a ton, but any time we can get out together will be fun. I fully expect my 13 yr old daughter to ride it more when she turns 16 lol. Heck, hopefully I can dual sport it like the Grom and we can trail ride before she turns 16
@@MrSirjud01 I actually bought it as a project for me but when I got it running she claimed it. And I’m not about to tell her no I have other bikes for me to ride
In Thailand we have a lot of choice for motorbikes since they are a staple of life here. The popular ones at the moment are Honda PCX and Yamaha NMAX/XMAX, both of which are belt driven automatics, 125-155CC bikes in a step over style rather than scooter. They come in under 3k USD. In comparison to the Grom and Navi these are more of a full sized bike and handle the roads just fine (up to 80mph), good for both men and woman. The Honda Grom I believe is called the Honda MSX here and goes for 2k USD. Would honestly love to see this in Thailand but no word at all.
I wanted to get another grom after selling mine and upgrading to a 500. But I think i’ll get this as my second motorcycle as it’s perfect for running around town and getting groceries or stuff
Awesome Video, Thanks! The Grom is 5mph faster but the Navi is quicker start and easier to learn on. Inexpensive Street legal minibikes, great for camping trips, loading on a back porch behind your car, Makes the Navi a Great buy!
Also loved the peek at the customs! Sound system was way cool! V&H exhaust was wild! Our Navi has the Honda rear rack which adds a little security for a rider, Honda windshield helps with bugs, etc...
I thought about getting a Navi for my 16 yr old. 1800$ sounds awesome. The only thing is Honda dealers charge 600$ dealer fee 300$ shipping fee 159$ assembly fee plus tax title and license. Ends up being closer to 3000$.
I have one of these I use when I’m in India. Great little bike for whizzing through the Indian traffic and fun to ride. I think mine cost around $700 new!
I would say it's a great bike for someone who's scared shittless. It would give them a chance to relax add appreciate the freedom. The navvies going to be like a 250 rebel. It's going to have 20 owners. And 2000 miles. Great idea with great potential...
Haha. Yeah. Like me slamming the bike down on my knee in my beginner class. I couldn’t move and I thought I broke my leg or tore me knee. My knee pads saved me. So, I need something light that won’t pin me if it falls on me. Especially since I’m single and female and ride by myself. Kind of want the clutch and brake for practice, but it’s a start. Even racers start somewhere. Haha.
What are you talking about scared? Dude I’m going to buy this just to screw around on, go camping with, and stick on the back of the travel trailer. I’ve got 3 other bikes to ride on the street. This thing is rad.
Lol Here in El Salvador, the Navi came out in 2017 at a cost of $ 1300, now it cost 1550 $ without any extra. if you want the adventure Kit, the motorbike cost 1800 $ more or less.
This is going to be my first motorcycle. It's much cheaper than the cheapest new car and I'm simply not comfortable buying a used motorbike since I know so little about them. Really excited to get my license and head out on two wheels.
I'm 70 and not going thru the mid life thing and have never had a bike.. I think I'm going to start looking for an around town toy .. thanks for the review.. very informative..
I bought a Navi and I absolutely love it. It does everything I need it to do, and is fun as shit doing it. The epitome of the perception of speed...with not much speed. What is most interesting is the number of comments and questions I get. I live in a county full of compensators. Nothing but majorly loud cruisers, and overtuned sport bikes. Mini bikes aren't seen on the roads here. My Navi is literally the only one I've ever seen rolling down any street here. While many Honda dealerships can't keep Navi's in, ours still has 2022's and 23's with 2025's coming out. I'm the only local in as long as they can remember that bought one. So the bike is met with curiosity everywhere I go, and people go nuts over it. And after talking to me for a few minutes, they want one, LOL!
Same here, man, I get compliments and questions on The Navi like crazyyyyyyyyy, guys love it, women love it, and they love riding with me, it’s a great bike that people love, and they love how it looks, very 1980s 1990s looking Japanese mini bike
I think the one that was made by steady garage was meant to look more like a cafe racer, still looks cool regardless and I hope theres a lot of aftermarket support for these like the there was for the older Honda two strokes.
The linked brakes are NOT a problem, if you look close up you can adjust that at the front wheel. There’s two adjustable cables going to the front drum brake, one from the handle bars and the other from the foot brake. Loosen up the one from the foot brake and do all the skids you want.
Really impressive for the price! But this isn’t a motorcycle in the same way that the Super Cub isn’t a scooter. It’s not about body shape, it’s about engine placement. This has the engine on the swing arm, making it a scooter. While the Super Cub has the engine on the frame, making it a motorcycle. Just a technicality though. Looks like a great ride either way, and hopefully will get a lot more people on two wheels in the US!
@@amatureskater15 I’m not so sure about that. I don’t think the Aprilia Mana 850 GT is a scooter, for example, even though it has a cvt. But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you call something a scooter or motorcycle as long as it’s fun!
@@nateeames6826 Sounds like an exception, not the rule 😉. Scooter= around 300cc or smaller, CVT, step through design( not always tho) and wide tires. That being said... Your right. Fun is key 🇺🇲💚
Exactly, that's what I've been saying. They tease the public with a low price and then when you go to a dealer they mark the hell of the bike up with adm mark up fees.
Bought the 2023 yesterday for my wife and she put about 20 miles on it. She’d never rode a motorcycle a day of her life and she is absolutely crazy about it. Very approachable, very friendly bike. Looks awesome, and it’s a freaking HONDA. How can you go wrong for 2400 bucks out the door for a brand new motorcycle?!
I was watching a video about the Super Cub and I was wishing a bike had an automatic feature for new riders. I stumbled upon this bike through marketplace and I can’t get my mind off it!
I see there are some features different from the version sold in Mexico, for instance, we have two different keys, a smaller one for the box, it comes without kill switch, and no foot brake, but We do have more custom accesories, probably they will come out in the US next year.
Here in the netherlands (and most of the EU) you need a A1 license for this, so you need 3 exams (one theoretical and 2 practical) to be allowed to ride it, and you'll learn to shift eitherway. That said, if it gets to the netherlands, it would still be about 4k here amd a used grom is about 2800 euros when one is available.
Here in America you get one license you can get it on a fully automatic 50cc scooter if you please and then your allowed to ride ANY bike ANY size lol because "freedumb"
I’ve been researching this bike for a little while now and I think I’m gonna get one for my wife. It’ll be her first motorcycle and I think this is perfect.
I really love this bike, but in the USA it doesn’t make a lot of sense. In most states, you can drive a bike with a engine less than 50cc with no motorcycle license, yet the “no license need” models (ruckus & metro) are more expensive than the Navi. I get that
DUIcycles Are what they are referred to here. Part of the reason why nobody wants to associate with scooters. It's a shame really for both the scooters and the miserable looking drunks that are obviously not riding for the fun of two wheels. Better than them driving a car drunk again though.
Here in ohio beginners can ride on temps, just not on the highway or at night. It wouldn't take them long to get good enough to pass the riding test on this for an endorsement, if they wanted.
Definitely a better option over a lot of e bikes. The only bad thing is, you DO need a motorcycle license in the states to drive one. Sucks considering some e bikes or e scooters that are as fast or almost as fast as the Navi don’t require one. This is perfect for me, especially to run errands around town.
Might be a dumb question but for bikes like this (Navi, Ruckus, Cubs etc), do you all transport them on a truck or something to the location you want to ride for the day? Reason I ask is, while I'd LOVE to ride around the coast in Newport...there's no way I'd be able to get there via local/surface streets from Pasadena lol.
I am SERIOUSLY considering this as my FIRST 2-wheel purchase. I run so many errands that are 5 miles or less. Even my drive to work is less than 4 miles.

THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE
imagine this style body on some of the bigger scooters....
Take my word, I do food delivery via (49cc) moped in Honolulu!
the parking brake is so you don't start it full throttle and it rips off without you
@@aeroflopper why would full throttle occur? Your assuming the rider makes that mistake? That’s like assuming cars have parking brakes for the same reason?
The linked brakes on the Navi exist for only one reason: it was designed and made in India based on the the Honda Activa scooter. As per Indian government regulations, any motorcycle/scooter over 200cc should have ABS. Vehicles with smaller engines need to have linked brakes.
This is a good option for people who are unable to shift due to a surgery.
Thanks Honda You made my day!👍🏼
As long as dealers don't gouge customers they will sell a ton. New riders need to start somewhere.
They WILL gouge customers with adm mark up fees.
Will be 2750 out the door i bet
$2700 out the door is not cheap. I want 5 minimoto to replace my Forza but will get 3 of these or at least 2. I would want the 3rd one to be have dual sport tires or I'll get a Trail 125 for non paved roads in Mexico.
Just called honda miami and 3400$ 😂 howwww??
@@gltsry8627 GREEDY BASTARDS. that's how.
Do it.
@@danasymosky5609 ya what's 2 grand when u can recoup like 1600 again

Cost me 100 a year for insurance no matter the size. progressive.
@@MrBlaze256 same for me, its expensive if you put collision incase you wreck it and want the insurance to fix it for you
The gram cost a lot for insurance because it's easy to steal.. just pick it up and run. Same with my monkey.

Insurance prices very from state to state
I bought my red NAVI in my India in 2016.

I'm getting the grasshopper green. My dealer wasn't getting the brown. I wasn't a fan of brown at first, but I bet it looks better in person
United States has very interesting military colors. While Mexico has mainstream & one sporty color.
Yep.
Great system.
I first looked at that storage box where a engine would go and thought "$2000 Honda E-Grom!"🤣
Awesome review. Never owned a bike before, but for the price and MPG and comfort, this one is so appealing!
Maybe Honda heard enough complaints from us Cub owners about not having a side stand they decided on putting it on the Navi.
Can't wait to see all the Navi squads popping up
Wearing leather and chains too…scary bunch!
Our Navi has the Honda rear rack which adds a little security for a rider,
Honda windshield helps with bugs, etc...
I thought about getting a Navi for my 16 yr old. 1800$ sounds awesome. The only thing is Honda dealers charge 600$ dealer fee 300$ shipping fee 159$ assembly fee plus tax title and license. Ends up being closer to 3000$.
As much as i would love to use one of these, I feel that my size (6'3 - 300lbs) would not be ideal for this machine...

$1,807 sounds good but all the dealers near me will be charging $2800-$3000 after fees. Far too much for this bike.
Same goes for the grom. Cant leave the dealer for under 4500 and at that price I'll buy a full size bike from a few years ago

Went to a dealership in Stockbridge Georgia today and after all the BS they added in the price came to $3,595😂
Yeah i pass at that price too bad
Haha.
Never let anyone ride your bike, they'll drop it for sure & won't want to pay anything out.

Sounds like a nice price. It seems like it would be great for getting around town.
That tron inspired one has me drooling at the idea of one of these, particularly for how cheap it is.
Honda sold these for about USD 650 (About INR 50K) in India. It's discontinued though.

Looks like a great ride either way, and hopefully will get a lot more people on two wheels in the US!
it's the cvt (twist n go) that makes it a scooter. It would still be a scooter if the motor was mounted on the upper frame.

I see there are some features different from the version sold in Mexico, for instance, we have two different keys, a smaller one for the box, it comes without kill switch, and no foot brake, but We do have more custom accesories, probably they will come out in the US next year.
These little bikes are the best thing that came out. I no longer ride bike huge heavy bikes. I loved my 14 Grom. Will buy another.
It's really tough not to consider this when you see the price tag. I always wanted a small "scooter" sorta bike when I'm staying close to home.
My favorite bike of all time is the Honda 50. That is a very cool bike there. I just got an XL185 to fix up to put around on.
That said, i love the fact that its carburated. Makes tuning a lot easier ;) cause you just know there will be over bore kits and such
here in slovakia you get the Am license when together with the B license and with that you can ride this, but you need the A1 for the grom
@@Digidi4 here the AM is onlu up to 50cc unfortunatly
Here in America you get one license you can get it on a fully automatic 50cc scooter if you please and then your allowed to ride ANY bike ANY size lol because "freedumb"

You could but it would take hours.
I'm surprised that the Navi is now selling in the US, I'm from Colombia and the Navi is popular here, we don't have the Grom, i really like that bike.
