    Impressive test Tom, as always. FWIW, I had a Bolt loaner for three days and ran it like a rented mule and averaged 5.0 miles per kWh. Mixed highway and city. I was quite impressed with its range and efficiency. It was more efficient than my Model 3 DMP.

    Tom. I think you should do the next Taycan test with an additional person on the car with you. And to that end, I offer my services. I think that’s crucial to get an accurate reading. :).

    A few years of ownership of sport sedans leaves many wishing for an easier egress. If the adjustable ride height could be used to offset this by raising up when needed, it could keep the kid in a lot of us. Unfortunately the rear steering isn’t often compared in the top trim and other trims but a single easy u-turn versus a three point turn is not only more convenient but safer in my opinion. Awesome range with those 21” tires. Did the rubber provide much rim protection. They are beautiful wheels in either variant.

    • @InsideEVsUS
      @InsideEVsUS  3 года назад +2

      Yes, the tires did stick out a bit to protect the rim.

      @@InsideEVsUS The interior option with the “Interior Accents in Dark Silver” is just the right touch to reduce the default bling of the Neodyme of the Taycan you drove. The seat contrast of that interior color choice however of the Atacama Beige and Basalt Black in your cabin shots of the rear seats were stunning. Looks like you can’t have both the HUD and passenger screen. I’m not sure how much the HUD would be needed. Have you ever drove one with that feature?

      You can get a stripped base model for $85k and get $9500 off the price with a tax break.. In 24 to 36 months after leasing is up, that $85k Taycan will be $67k on the pre-owned market. In 5 years the price of a used base model will be $55k..

      Just because I need AWD and want immense power, I want a Turbo or Turbo S in the regular body style. There's a Turbo S available that has lost $35,000 in value in 7 months.

    An interesting test. Made more interesting by the fact that all the other people I've watched who review EV's say that if you go over 60 mph for a constant speed over a period of time, your EV's range will be completely destroyed.

    For the last year I have been making twice a month trips from northern to southern California on I5 through the central valley in a Tesla Model 3. Straight, flat, long stretches at a steady speed. What I have observed is that I actually have more range, by a noticeable amount, when its really hot, than when temps are mild. I don't skimp on the AC when it's that hot. But blasting the AC doesn't shorten my range. I have two theories about why: The air is less dense when it's hot, and that cuts drag, and maybe the batteries are actually more efficient when hot. Whatever the underlying reason, I get about the same consumption at 65 mph when temps are around 70F, as I do at 75 mph with outside temps at 90F.

    To clarify, it’s not just a Blue Metallic Taycan, it’s a Gentian Blue Metallic. 😎
    Not to be confused with Frozen Blue or Neptune Blue (which I personally love).
    246 miles at avg 83F and AC on 68F, very decent and for such a roomy vehicle.

    What mode were you in as the taycan decouples the gearbox clutch in range mode , so normal and turismo mode will use more

    • @InsideEVsUS
      @InsideEVsUS  3 года назад +3

      The video explains that we use range mode. We always place the vehicles in the most efficient driving mode when we do the range tests so it's always fair to the other vehicles tested.

    • @ram64man
      @ram64man 3 года назад

      @@InsideEVsUS shouldn’t you do test in normal as most users wouldn’t normally use range mode unless they were green minded, think of the market these buyers are from , turismo maybe the normal setting for the under 50’s unless with family
