Great video! Picked up my Taycan Cross Turismo 3 weeks ago in the US and can confirm that this is an amazing car that makes the transition to an EV easy, desirable and not feel like a compromise at all. As long as I follow EV charging “best practices” charging above 240 kW is realistic and results in 5% to 80% charging in less than 25 minutes. Highly recommend the Taycan Cross Turismo.
I’m jealous I wanted the Cross Turismo so bad but the wife wasn’t having a “Station Wagon” 🤦🏽♂️… you can hear the argument now lol. Long story short we happy to pick up our regular Taycan in a week. Quick question tho, how bad has the charging stations been or do you mostly charge at home?
@@djparra41 I have used Electrify America stations without any issues on the longer trips I have taken including during the car from LA to Seattle when I first got it. The Taycan comes with free first 20 minutes charging at Electrify America for 3 years. For daily use, I charge the car 2-3 times a week at home over night with the charger that came with the car.
Though having the port on the right now turns out to be ideal for Tesla Superchargers by chance (unless you are in the UK and its on the left being opposite the driver). Good vid as always, cheers.
Genius! And when you are parked and charging at a supermarket you can still open the hatch to put your groceries in or park with a bike rack, no problem! 👌
As you thanked us Kris, you are welcome, we want to also thank you for making these videos and bringing such great content. As I've always said, your videography and storytelling is one of a kind and it's why for me I like watching your video's through to the end.
The range mode maximum speed can be configurated to any speed in the menu. For some reason my taycan (base model with perf + battery) displays 150 kmh max speed if i use the navigation with destination, 110 kmh max speed otherwise, which is the speed in the configuration. Not sure this info helps anything , but one can change it …
Much better than what this video shows. If my math is right, his mid-point consumption was about 379 Wh/mi, much higher than my Tesla. Your average is a bit less than my Tesla. Any idea why your average is so much lower than what this video shows?
@@davidbryant2872 I guess it’s because I live on the west coast of Norway where the average speed limits are lower. And I don’t have a Cross Turismo but the Sport Saloon. Cross Turismo have a higher consumption both because of the fact that it’s a wagon and the higher ride height (it’s a CUV after all).
Again a great vid Kris. That being said : would it be possible to give some more information in one of your next vids about tires (especially winter tires) ... There are more and more summer tires made for EV's but I cannot find (maybe it is my fault) anything considering winter tires... I would love to hear your recommendations!!!!
Honestly, Id prefer the way better soundtrack you had before. This car matches perfectly with WEARETHEGOOD's "Hood Baby" 😀 Btw, what an amazing bil, Porsche is simply Porsche... bilen!
It is insane how cheap it is to drive an EV in Norway compared to The Netherlands. As of now you are not yet paying taxes on EV's in Norway (in the Netherlands we pay 22% VAT on all EV's no matter how expensive/cheap) and in this video you mention that the Ionity fast charger at 350kW is only 185 Kroner/kW? That is 0,18 EUROS only! The same superchargers in the Netherlands costs 0,80 EUROS/kW if not more (so people try to avoid them as much as possible). Charging at home in the The Netherlands at 11KW is already 0,24 EURO/kW. This probably explains why the EV has not yet reached the same popularity compared to Norway. It is in fact much cheaper to buy a 150 hp ICE car (1,5 liter, 4 cyl), even with the current petrol prices of 2,00 EURO/liter. Which may actually be a good thing, as The Netherlands would not even have the electricity supply / infrastructure to make sure everybody can charge their cars.
What's your thoughts on your Taycan order in light of the whistle blower claims regarding the fire risk of battery pack? Even if they change the on board charger, re-sale values could take a hit...
With the aero wheels, by some margin too.. :) The tire dimensions are are still 19-inch 275 mm. wide rear / 225 front, so no bicycle wheels compared to eg. the Mach-E or Model 3. Even a larger footprint than the Model S.
Porsche certainly made a great car with the taycan, not just a great EV. And the first electric estate. If only it would have been within budget my next car choice would be easy.
Give Porsche a pat on the back for having a chargeport in the forward part of the car. No need to reverse up to a charger and park like a ninja. ( going back and forth to align car and be considerate).
The REAL reason why fast charge port is on the front right side is for it to be able to use Tesla charging infrastructure, but no one in Porsche could acknowledge this :D
no it is not... both the Taycan product manager and project leader (two different people) have told me to my face why, and it is for the same reason I explain in this video. If they made it to work with Superchargers it would have been at the rear corner, like in a Tesla. Charging a Taycan on V1, V2 and V3 with short cables is actually quite hard most places.
mate... Do you HONESTLY think that people from Porsche would acknowledge something like this to the outside of the company, which is you in this case? In no scenario would this be possible, never :) And front right side is almost same as rear left side - same distances, pretty much. This story about fuel cap side of 911 is BS in plain sight - Taycan either way has ports on both sides, so aesthetically it make absolutely no difference :)
@@siciunasK sorry, but not only are you wrong but you're also an idiot. First of, Tesla's have their charge port at the corner of the rear. The Porsche is behind the front wheel, so not even close to the same distance. This fact alone debunks your claim. I've owned a Taycan for two years, so I know how hard it car be to charge when the charge cables are short. Second. I had dinner with the the project manager of the Taycan project last year. This Porsche engineer bought a Model S when it came out, and was so fascinated by the car he convinced the board to make an EV. The first months of R&D they actually used his personal vehicle before Porsche purchased several Model S' them selves. So again, you are wrong. The Model S was vital in not only the Taycan development, but also the actual inception. Porsche have not problems admitting how the Model S was important to the Taycan. So again, you are wrong. At this point I think you are just making shit up.

About 20mins difference from 1 to 10 on 615km...means not relevant at all to me...Buy what ever EV you like best and you can afford! But as said, not really relevant...and ID3 is already only 10mins slower than Model Y.
"...the chargeport on the right side, is stupid placement, if you ask me"... ?🤔 Please Mr. smart ass, could you tell us WHY the placement for the DC fast charging port on the right side of the Taycan is "stupid"??? I think that your totally annoying claim is the only stupid thing, but nothing more! First of all, it makes totally sense that Porsche designers are giving the Taycan customers the choice for charging the car on each side, because with such a solution the AC charging capability at home is getting more flexible. You don't have to stand in a certain direction to the charging wallbox. I think, that the DC fast charging port on the RIGHT side of the Porsche Taycan is perfectly placed THERE, because most DC fast charging stations are placed at the right side of the driving direction, when you are driving the car to these stations, "if you ask me".

Few tips for you as constructive feedback that you can benchmark from Björn as well; - Please change cars that you test GOM language to English, as it always stays at Norsk which the rest of the world other than Norway does not understand.
