Great show again! Go on like this, well done, loved it !
How fast was the charging in the end?
This! ^^^
Why do some Brits insist on incorrectly pronouncing the Porsche name? It's pronounced por-sha not porsh. As a Porsche enthusiast it makes me cringe everytime it's mispronounced. I doubt I'm alone in this as I've heard the same complaint from my club friends.
EU emissions regs forced them to do this. If they wanted to beat a tesla they already had the 911 turbo s. It beats the taycan and will wipe the floor with a tesla.
Only found this channel last month. Absolutely Fantastic.
Willkommen im Klub =)
Welcome. It's been fantastic for long time :)
Thanks.
Lucky you! A whole catalogue of great episodes stretching back for years.
Thanks to Bobby, I'm on my 3rd EV.... Zoe, Leaf and 3
It's funny you say Porsche has never built electric cars before, but Ferdinand Porsche built the world's first electric car over 100 years ago and built hybrid diesel-electric tanks in WW2, he was fascinated by electric power so have the Taycan is just coming full circle and I think he would have loved what they have done and are continuing to do with electric vehicles.
15:29 The charging station, Gridserve, looks like an absolute electric car nerd fest - I can’t wait to find a reason to visit.
I can only say it's amazing. 2 minutes from me and been there so far 3 times :)
And its only 130 miles away...!
Electric nerd rest - Why do you think Robert used the Taycan as a reason to visit? 😉😅
4ndrossi yea in the UK! The only one in America is Tesla Chargers and high speed charging rapid chargers for non-Tesla cars (CCS) are few a far between in Northern half of our country!

'Bladder anxiety' is my new favourite phrase.
I have suffered this many a time over the years and its definitely worse than range anxiety. Especially if you are in someone else's car and you are trying to persuade them to stop.
This is a serious topic. Most of the charging infrastructure has no “bio” facilities. After driving for an hour or two and then parking to charge for an hour.....🥴 Still find the term bladder anxiety funny though 😂
What Robert so sensibly points out is... under normal circumstances. nobody buys any car based on a single feature. In this case, you buy a Porsche for it's road behaviour, not it's fuel consumption or range.
I see no criticism of Tesla in this, or a criticism of any other electric car. Those who talk of "Tesla killers" seem to miss this major fact of vehicle purchasing. The sooner discussion of electric cars gets away from people trying their hardest to tear down the whole idea of an electric car, and Tesla in particular, the sooner we might all be able to be able to allow them to be very much a small facet in the background of our lives.
That is what I call dedication. Driving the Porsche Taycan in the pouring rain so that you can charge it up! Robert clearly hated every moment of it. Robert used to be a petrol head, now he is an electron head! Thanks a lot, a video from Robert always makes the day better.
Really a great show your team has put together. The production values have exponentially gotten better in every facet. I especially enjoyed the music. Keep up the great work!
Much love, fantastic episode, Robert! ❤️
Crazy to think there are electric cars with impressive range that charge faster than most smartphones.
Yus - but (most) EVs have active cooling for the battery whilst charging, unlike smartphones etc.
@@logicalChimp The connectors on smartphones are also hopeless for current carrying capacity. USB C attempts to get around it with higher voltages but the contact size is ridiculously small.

Well done Robert. Another enthusiastic well informed report. Sensible comments with the appropriate amount of excitement. Mind you I would be excited just to sit in one of those examples of automotive fine art.
As far as reviewing cars especially electric cars goes, this channel is one of a kind and brings it to the next level in my opinion. Thank you very much for your content and have a great christmas time.
Thankyou Robert. Great job as always. x
From your early days in the model x with the cat you have really nailed this channel, thanks Robert.
Great review , truly amazing how Porsche put their engineering toward a great platform
I still don’t understand all this obsession with Starbucks... when there are so many other coffee makers way better than that! 😕 good video! 😉
i would not use but dont think they should be advertising them. I dont think any of these coffee places are NOT worth it. far too expensive for a few coffee beans.
Hence why they shut down so many stores znd now sell their product in capsukes through supermarkets.
15:30 Looks like someone is happy 😂
LMAO
Brilliant video. This subject could be so dull but in the hands of Robert it becomes funny, informative, and engaging. Looking forward to more of these and more house price, car price comparisons.
The house price comment might branch out into a whole other subject :) house prices were normal in the mid 90s, they are now 3-4 times the price of normal.
*cries in London*
*cries in millenial*
@@GilesWendes cries the boomer. I need immigration to prop up my house price for my cruise ship retirement
Interest rates were also 3-4x as much, so monthly repayments weren't much different.
Houses are a lot more than 3X the cost, even if interest payments made up the majority of repayments. Salaries were lot higher as a percentage too. The only way you can buy a house now is with a large deposit.
It's been said many times before, not only can renters afford to buy, repair, maintain, insurance and heat a home, we are doing all of those things. We just don't get to keep the house at the end because we didn't have a large deposit.
My parent's houses have gone up 10X in 10 years. Twice.
Google is your friend. Interest rates being 3X higher does not mean that the repayment is three times higher. And houses are 7X more expensive, which does make a significant difference to repayments.
Ok boomer?
Higher interest rate argument makes me laugh.
When I explain to someone who was on £5,000 as a starting salary and bought a £6,000 house he gave me the 17% interest rate argument.
When you eventually get the chance to explain to them that average salary is now £26,000 and average house price around me is £350,000 they then understand.
Rent in my area costs more than mortgage repayments would on the same value house. Only difference is getting the £30,000 deposit which is 5 x more than the value of his house!
Very good video
I am from Montreal, Canada. I am sooo impressed (and jalous) about the charging station shown toward the end of the video. Big, roomy, shelters, restaurant. Wow, I hope we get something like this here!!
Uncle Knobhead won’t ever listen to anything that isn’t powered by liquid dinosaurs!
The good thing about electric cars is that you don't HAVE to listen to them.
That and max torque at 0rpm.
Can it beat a train though....!! London - Glasgow..?

Always interesting and very entertaining !! Thank you
Great video. Both informative as well as entertaining to watch. I have a Taycan Cross Turismo since 4 months and absolutely love it. Fantastic car to drive and charging on Electrify America works well for road trips. As a daily I charge it in my garage 2-3 times per week over night.
Amazing video, great graphics about range & location.
Great review. And great video to watch.
I love it!! You can't even put into words how great it feel to drive!!!❤❤❤❤🙏🏾
I don't y,but I love this car, like crazy, the technology is out of the box
and it was charging at what rate?!?! Wasn’t that the point?! 🤷♂️
The actual value was, obviously not that impressive.
No, that was the excuse
I wanted to know that as well.
That ending bit sounded epic in stereo
1:27 "Im not going wax lyrical about this car" & then then he starts
I was lucky enough to have a Taycan 4S (93kwh pack) for a couple of days recently. Our company was using it to validate some high powered charging stations in upstate NY. I drove 700 miles in under 24 hours in that car, and it was completely effortless. The fast charging stations in NY and the Electrify America network made it so easy to do. The Taycan was spectacularly comfortable and competent. It also has the best "Guess O Meter" of any EV I have driven, which made the journey that much easier.
Great and very interesting video, as always👍
Fantastic Vlog ,a stunning car .
Fabulous show as always - really enjoyed that. Don't like the colour but LOVE the car
The production on this channel is top notch.
As always a wonderful video. The most astonishing statement however was the bit about the car being twice as expensive as his house. Ooohhhh how I wish that was still the case 😂
Great video as always.
El-cars are so much more interesting than ex-cars.
Looking forward to the day you in addition convert to the modern units of measurement 👍
Great episode and that car looks awesome
Finally, a reason to go to Essex.
Thank you for another wonderful video. To be frank the content doesn't really matter (though the content _is_ excellent in it's own right) I just really enjoy your presentation style, you could go on about a brown paper bag and that would be all right with me :-)
Lovely video!!! And good information!! I love my RWD Taycan, I LOVE PORSCHE!!!...😀
Very fair. Thanks. 😎
Another excellent video.
"Bladder Anxiety worse than Range Anxiety; more stressful, more painful, and long term damage". I want to use these quotes as a bumper sticker :-D
great video! Thanks for keeping us all so up to date on the world of electricity. Is it possible to quote the consumption in future car videos in the number of miles travelled per kWh as well please? Our Hyundai Kona uses that consumption metric and it makes sense now, and I end up converting every consumption figure to that!
great vid!,,,stay safe your the reason i watch Chanel :)
What a beautiful car!

Great work, such a well put together episode. Love the futuristic music.
45 kWh/100 mi ~ 2.2 mi/kWh which is appalling for a city car, but irrelevant for a performance vehicle for the disgustingly rich. Also, another great car producing no toxic fumes or ear blowing exhaust sound to cause nuisance in cities 🥳.
Dream car. I sold my boxster S for my e-golf. The e-golf can outrun and out handle my boxster with 16” bobbley tyres! I do miss the open top car and the roar it made though. The way it gulped down fuel, not so much. The e-golf off the mark is just astonishing and into a roundabout at a tight lick is nifty. If there is an ID.R that comes out, now that would be something. The golf chassis is so good.
Another great video !
I enjoyed your report on the Taycan - thank you.
Such vehicles will devolve into vehicles for "the masses".
I would like to see your uncle who says "Mhya Mhya Ya", he sounds really interesting.
Love that - "bladder anxiety is worse than range anxiety"
Good story, homey and fun. Robert, you have a way with words. Do I want a Porsche, prolly not due to the fact that I'm older than you and it's a chore crawling down into my wife's XJ6. So something a bit more upright and off-roady (I do go off road now and then), but with the same level of detail, fit & finish would be nice. Also love the no huge center screen. Proper cockpit there :-)
Just love the looks and design of the Porsche Taycan lineup, saying that as an Tesla Model 3P owner.
Great video as always, Robert is a true gem
Thank you!
I support only two makers on Patreon. One is an eclectic but highly skilled woodworker, and the other is this show. That's it.
Bjorn Nyland got nearly 580 kms at 90 kph cruise from the big battery Taycan 4S. Only bested by a Model S, I think. On a bigger battery.
I think it did have smaller wheels fitted, though.
4s with big battery is the best of the lot I reckon. Good combo of everything.
Probably drove in eco mode. EPA tested lower because they use the default settings and I bet Robert did not use any special settings either. You have to drive in gentle or eco, whatever it is called, that uses only the weaker motor instead of two motors, in order to get the reasonable range out of the Taycan. Otherwise the EPA ranges for city and highway are accurate.
Yes, Taycan range is extremely variable depending on the the wheels and tires
@@0ooTheMAXXoo0 EPA ranges are jokes. Tesla never achieved their "wow" range while most of VW Group cars beat their EPA range by 10 - 20%. WLTP range are more accurate..
Great video 👍
Very nice.... as soon as I can afford - I will buy it
Raining in December. Shocker!

"Bladder anxiety" v. "Range anxiety " . I hear ya bro'!
Terrific piece from the fully charged show, the original and best. Taycan Turbo has to be the best looking EV yet, although hard to see how one would ever actually call upon those massive disc brakes given the regen capacity at each of the four wheels. Perhaps on a track!
Enjoyed your review. I get 280 miles range routinely with mine. And actually, there was just a video posted with the Turbo S racing the fastest Tesla and it beat it by a good bit.
Que, Plaid model s.

test drove a Polestar 2 recently. Planned a journey to Switzerland (from Surrey), where I drive quite often to see my sister, and the journey was 7 hours longer because of charging breaks. I will keep my 530bhp twin-turbo V8, thanks!
Beautiful machine... i love it
Great video and as always funny. I wish you could give bit more information about charging speed for nerds ;)
I love the comment about the uncle at the end. LOL. I didn't know that was a thing in British culture like it is here in Canada and the US.
Also, it would be really fun to see a video of you take this on a round trip in Australia. Maybe once things open up again, you can fly back to Brisban and drive a Taycan around the entire island. Coordinate with Porsche Australia and in Germany. Or, come here to Canada!. I'd absolutely love to meet you!
Hi ,liked your review!what type of watch were. You wearing?
Robert, my first introduction to electrification was a fabulous and highly educational video about Mate Rimac, the Croatian engineer. It’s my understanding that Porsche have bought a stake in his company, which is a technology company.
I can't wait until all this tech trickles down into something I can afford in 2030!

Don't worry, 2023-2024. This are going VERY fast.
@@LouNYF I like the Zoe. I saw a test where it got 5 miles per Kwh. Up there with the Tesla model 3. Would be a great 2nd car and a great first EV.

Great show, be keen to see a drag race between the top spec Porsche, Model 3, S & X
I know it falls short of a Tesla Model S on the range and infrastructure point right now but honestly there is not a world where I choose a Tesla over a Taycan. It’s a delightful car that is super important at convincing die hard petrol heads that EVs can indeed be fun. Just think what the cheaper RWD models will be like or the even faster GT line! Also do you really want to bet against VW catching up on infrastructure. I’d bet they are on parity with Tesla sooner than you think
Hopefully this will be a vehicle that is on the list for a young driver of the future and excites the next gen of drivers !
80's are back, let's stick a turbo batch on anything moving fast !! ;-)
I got the chance to drive the Turbo S and it is super fast! it is faster then the fastest Tesla (this in the video is not). Well and finally it’s a Porsche .. nothing beats Porsche in build quality - especially not a Tesla 😅

yup, porsche cant do it on their own
I have an S but I have to say the Taycan is incredible and a totally different vehicle. Congrats Porsche! Stirling achievement! Did anyone spot what max kW Rob got?
Robert, can you feed back on the Ionity upping the price on chargers to be almost the same as filling up with unleaded. i am interested to understand the tariffs involved when charging a non tesla on a longer journey. great vid, love the channel and i am a petrol head 😀

The most beautifull EV ever! Amazing car, what a power! What a beauty!
Why would you make an video about the Taycan's range en charging, and NOT show the charging curve? Maybe in an diagram or so.. I wonder how long it took to charge to 90/95%?
You aced it this time... :-)
I'd argue that this is perfect weather for test driving a new EV. Any fool can get fairly good results on a fine sunny day but the likes of a typical soggy good ol' Blighty day is much better for giving a more accurate idea of a car's performance. Fantastic review Robert. 👌
