Two of the most common loading mistakes is not knowing the sweet spot depth for your trailer and boat combo. Keeping the runners at the perfect depth will help the boat center itself on the trailer even if you come in a bit sideways and when approaching the trailer not reacting quick enough to counter the stern drift. Too many people want to steer a boat like a car. Not going to work. The #1 main mistake people make is putting the trailer in too deep as Dan has pointed out here😊

He didn’t check at all to see who was near him and literally backed the boat into a lady. It was just horrific. Obviously her injuries were awful. If memory serves she survived and healed up…We swim off our boat all the time and constantly monitor who and what is closing on us.

Hello from Germany. Here we need a licence for boats with more then 15HP. IWM (inland waters; motorized craft) and CWM (Coastalwaters motorized craft). @shawncosmos5431 Год назад +4

Agreed! And its not just boater education that needs to be addressed. Add to it Trailering a boat. I live in South Carolina and have a 27’ boat which I use on Lake Murray and the coast. I’ve been boating for decades and have seen it all. I’m talking about the people hauling boats at 80 mph on the highway. No safety chains. Boats to far aft on the trailer so its swaying. No transom straps. I was in the construction equipment business so hauling equipment was a daily occurrence. It only takes a second for a locking pin on a trailer hitch to be over looked. A 2’ ball being used when a 2 5/16 is the proper size… Trailer bearings not being maintained.. Dry rotted tires.. And the typical no trailer lights. All these issues can result in a catastrophic event…

My wife wanted to learn and asked me to teach her how to back the trailer down the boat ramp so she can help out. She picked it up faster than a lot of men and also makes a lot of men look bad when she backs our 24' boat trailer down the ramp like a boss on the first attempt and even right to the perfect depth! We're a hell of a team and fast as a NASCAR pit crew when it comes to launching and trailering our boat. Then there's the opposite kind of people like many in your videos who just shouldn't own a boat or anything with a trailer for that matter, especially when time is of the essence like at the boat ramp on a busy day. I'd hate to be "that guy" who's taking forever and a day holding up the boat ramp. I always try to respect people's time, especially at the boat ramp and even more so when it's busy af.

All people seem to put it in to deep! They also don’t think to compensate for the current pull? Common sense is a lost thing now!!🙄🙄

I lived on the coast by Canada in the 70's. Ramps were primitive outside of a few marinas. I learned to back it just enough to get a couple rollers wet. Shove it back into the water with a long rope. Let the current take it, then drag it on. Clip on the pulley really fast before a big wave takes it. Then crank really fast.

A lot of these folks have trouble loading their boat cause they have the trailer way too deep. When the bow gets to the front roller, the bunks aren't even touching the bottom of the boat, so it doesn't center properly. 🤦‍♂️

Use the current and wind tu your advantage instead of fighting it and do remember the slower u go the less steering effect you got and please remember once the boat is on trailer first shut down the engine and trim that engine

I guess when you don't know anything about driving a boat, you become a narrator about having problems. Probably can't afford a boat, so this is the best thing you could do. 😂

It’s a sign of common decency deteriorating when people make videos of others going about their day with no pause to consider the moral implications. We are already on camera almost everywhere & have no expectation of privacy. That being said having a camera set up to defend private property is not the same as filming people minding there own business with the sole purpose of posting them online. That is low class and creepy. I always wonder how so many people now have the lack of self awareness or common decency to do this.

@@TheBigDanShowit’s not being sensitive to point out a lack of common decency. Calling someone sensitive is an easy way to defend yourself without a defense. Go ahead it’s legal. I’m just stating that sometimes being legal doesn’t make it right. Now I won’t give you a hard time any more because I’m not going to change your mind.
