I used to fish with my dad on a 12 ft sears w a 2hp from the 50s lol. People would point and laugh but my dad never noticed. So many fun times. Dads gone now, and I have a much much nicer boat. When I think back on all the game fish I have caught, it really doesn't compare to drifting for small mouths or crabbing w dad.

3:08, my guess is that the metal bars are supports to put a tarp over the boat to keep it from filling up with rain water. He probably puts a rope or a rod from them all the way up to that wood board in the front, makes a nice slanted roof and prevents large puddles that can break the tarp.

I'll tell you one thing. The most fun per dollar I ever had with a boat was a 12' fiberglass Game fisher with an aluminum transom plate and a 25 horsepower Evinrude outboard and a ski tow rope and an old surf board.(and some snorkeling gear, on occasion.)

In 2 weeks, I got so good at launching and retrieving, that by the time they could get their cameras out, I was already either: in the water, or pulling away from the ramp.

Something tells me when your trailer is falling apart and you forget to untie the boat from the trailer when you're pulling out and you got some Mickey mouse contraption on it and your boat seats are not even attached, and you having a hard time starting the engine and only goes in reverse.... 05:38 I used to have a small boat like that. I would tie a line from the bow to the back of the trailer (while boat was still on trailer)... I would back in.. boat would float off... then pull truck & trailer forward, dragging the boat to shore, just like that guy did (no dock to tie up to). But.... I did it all in ONE MOTION... I physically never got out of the truck. Oh... and I did it SLOW, NOT 20mph with my dog in the boat! My dog sat in the passenger seat of the truck the entire time.
Poor guy probably has challenges with everything he does , he is just using and enjoying what he has and being out on the water with his little dog which Im sure loves its master unconditionally .
In regard to the two trolling motors. There's only one trolling motor. The other "trolling motor" is the main. My guess is the gas engine is too fast for slower trolling so he needed an electric motor to be able to troll slower. Another possibility is that if they're going fishing in a weeded area, they can run that electric motor with the prop just barely under the water line allowing the boat to somewhat clear a path so the prop doesn’t get wrapped with weeds.
Electric trolling motor we use here in MN, going real slow or fishing vertically beneath boat for walleyes, your just jealous this guy's on water and you ain't, truth.
One way for new boat owners to learn, is to watch videos like this, so they can see what mistakes people make, and learn from it, prior to getting on the water. Practice helps immensely

I fish in a ‘14 aluminum boat with a 9.9 several times a week. Of course I’m not in salt water, but I get on some big lakes and catch a lot of fish. It’s paid for, and I’m not trying to compensate for anything….

A lot of people get out here and think that they know what they're doing and they don't They cause issues and possibly cause accidents and damages. It was a gas motor and an electric trolling motor. And I’m sure he used the metal going over the back of the boat for a guide to see when he’s backing it in. I have a 10’ 6” Meyer’s aluminum boat that was my father’s for our local small lakes, and I also have a 16’ aluminum Deep-V Big Fisherman. Both these boats are fantastic. I betcha he comes in with a boat load of fish every time he comes back, and I betcha his boats paid for.

I started in a boat like this. And after a year of Wheeling and dealing. 5 boats later. I have myself a really nice fully loaded 17 ft sea nymph. I have less into it than the cost of my first boat.
Most of the time I go out solo and have an older outboard that can be touchy. Especially at the ramp. When it's busy, don't even mess with trying to start it, just push off, put the trolling motor down and get out of the way.

I own a Regulator 37 nowadays, but my best memories are from fishing in a 14’ aluminum boat fishing saltwater with my best friend at 13-14 years old (wwe grew up on oceanside homes in eastern Canada) We’re still best friends 30 years later.

I'm used to seeing cleats on the dock for temporary use. They help with queuing and for passengers.
