"It's nothing to get distressed about." It's beyond distressing to hear you two discussing tinnitus this way, and smiling in a condescending way, as if you have any idea what it's like to experience long term persistent tinnitus. Over years, I have learned how to manage it. I knew from day one not to focus on it. "Obsess over being calm?" What a contradiction of terms. You have no idea what it's like for millions of people who suffer severe symptoms of tinnitus. Some people have milder symptoms of tinnitus that go away in time. Others have have it for many years, and have to learn to live with it, and manage it.. I'm shocked how self satisfied you two are.

This "doctor" is DEAD WRONG. I'm experiencing this extreme tinnitus right now and it is debilitating - I've never had anything like it, and I am an extremely healthy individual. It is a direct result of the 2nd shot and began just a few days after my jab. This isn't psychological - telling people that they are just suddenly noticing it because they are looking for it, but it has been there the whole time, is ridiculous. While I hope it will pass with time and is just an acute immune response, saying it isn't real is total BS.

For anyone watching this for actual advise, I would say to simply stop watching. None of this has anything to do with tinnitus. The reason there is no "cure" is because scientists still don't truly know how/what tinnitus even is. I've had severe tinnitus for over 15 years. Sometimes it gets so bad it even feels like my ears are physically vibrating. No amount of "self awareness" is ever going to reverse the effects of tinnitus. Sure, when you are busy and distracted you might not particularly notice it, but anytime you are in a quiet space there is no way around hearing it. I do hope there is a discovery that soon can help the millions who do suffer from this.

Actually, if you go to the “seeking balance” website she has a LOT of free resources that she offers for people. ☺️ I have had scary and intense dizziness and vertigo (which is the other topic she specializes in) and she actually gives very sound and helpful advice! While I also have mild tinnitus off and on, I can’t say how well her resources help with it specifically as I haven’t needed to use it for that purpose, so far. But the resources she has for using neuroplasticity for lessening symptoms of dizziness and vertigo is very helpful and healing. And MANY doctors (otoneurologists) agree with how healing neuroplasticity is. It’s not a quick fix though - which is what everyone wants when they are suffering 😕- so it’s easy for people to dismiss it. But Joey (on the left in the video above - who offers her book as an option) has actually experienced dizziness, vertigo, and tinnitus before. And she works with MANY people who struggle with those symptoms as well, and there are many many success stories of people who have gotten better/feel better again.

I will admit though, that this video could have been done better. They are smiling and encouraging because they both are amazed (and excited to share about) how powerful the human brain is and everything it is capable of! But, their message isn’t coming across as well in this video - because this is a serious topic and tinnitus truly does destroy people’s quality of life! And it is awful when it’s at its worst. I can only imagine how much people are suffering with it - and I am admittedly very worried myself about getting an increase in my own symptoms after I get the shot (if I choose to do so). This video does make it seem a bit too light hearted as though it isn’t a serious topic and symptom that is destroying people’s quality of life. But I also have watched many of the other videos by each of these women and other resources that seeking balance offers, and they both offer amazing advice and approach very challenging subjects in a pretty incredible way that helps SO many people to heal and get better. While this videos isn’t one of their best… it also isn’t fair of people in this comment section to judge both of these women based on just this one video alone (not just you, there are plenty of others in the comment section here who think this is just a sale’s pitch, etc.)
I highly recommend people do further research on their own. If not with these two women then on neuroplasticity in general, which is a scientific fact and truly amazing! Our brains are so incredible. 🙂 🧠

Panic attacks are your brain sending out a false alarm. So start with reminding yourself that this is just adrenaline and not a life-threatening problem; after about 10-15 minutes, it will subside if you let it. The best thing to do is to get active so that you can burn off all that adrenaline. Go for a run, or put on some music with a fast beat and dance. Once the worst is past, find somewhere to sit, and practice rhythmic breathing: breathe in, then count to 7, and breathe out slowly to the count of 8. This will help get your heart rate back under control. If thoughts intrude, acknowledge them, and return your focus to your breathing. The point is not a quiet mind (impossible in a panic attack) but to continually return to your focus point - your breathing - when your thoughts do start to run away with you. This will help you return to a calm state so that you can go on with your day.

Also, try to shift your attention. Listen to music, talk to someone on the phone (about other subjects), etc. To me, it’s the fastest way to calm down and getting it under control. Good luck! 🍀

If you have Tinnitus you know you have it... it's not something you think you might have. It is an inflammation of the nerves. I have had mild tinnitus for years as a musician and listening to loud music for decades I know what it sounds like. After my last bout of COVID it has gone from mild to very noticeable and any loud noises cause distortions in the left ear. Loud ringing will just happen out of nowhere just working in a quiet room and have an onset of ringing that is very painful that hangs around for a few seconds to a few minutes then slowly dying off.

Interesting, I’ve had tinnitus since my twenties. I didn’t know what it was and really thought everyone heard the same thing. I wasn’t afraid or anxious about it but it never cured itself like the specialist said. It’s always there and in certain environments can affect my ability to differentiate noise. When I got covid, the tinnitus got worse and went into both ears. It took about 12 weeks for the intensity to die down and now the one ear is back to normal but the other one is still the same.

That's because pain science is revealing that all pain is mediated by and experienced in the brain. She's explaining how normal sensations and signals that shouldn't be interpreted as screaming alarm bells (tinnitus, physical pain, and other chronic conditions) are mistakenly being signaled that way due to the body being in fight or flight. Then once we take those signals as serious the fear and fixation takes over and makes them chronic. There is a ton of research on this now. I don't think they did enough explanation of the what of tinnitus to explain the how but she is right. People are using apps like curable to cure tinnitus and other issues. I completely resolved my hip pain and working through other things with this same kind of work. My pain is real and so is yours.

I'm a healthy 33yr old man who I got 3 vax shots since available, but never developed tinnitus until AFTER I actually caught Covid for the first time (August 2022). It started with 2 ear infections, then inflammation, then tinnitus. It's been 2+ months and the ringing and hyperacusis hasn't subsided. Now I'm constantly worried about catching covid again because I fear more unexpected infections or potentially permanent issues.

    - excercing for back/shoulder pain for relaxation
    - Thymus tapping (just started)
    - trying to avoid (pretty hard..) the news cycle, social media
    - changed my eating behavior (In the evening mainly cooked vegetables, 4-5 different fruits through the day, 3-4 different vegetables a day, recently quit eating bread, drinking only water except small coffee in the morning, very little milk/cheese, very little processed foods, very littel industrial sugar, no alcohol, raw ginger, raw garlic...any natural food that is anti-inflammatory)

TW; may not be wise to read if you're in the crisis mode, proceed at your own risk!
I've had tinnitus since I was 16 (34 now). Got it for not wearing earplugs during a metal festival. Stupid, I know. In my defense, nobody talked about these things back then so I had no clue. Anyhow, I've had the worst luck concerning tinnitus. To my understanding it's quite rare to get it after one single loud noise exposition. Well, the lucky me got it. At first, it was only silent hissing, didn't pay attention to it. During the following years it got worse: the silent hissing became a loud high-pitched tone, another similar sound appeared into my previously quiet ear as well. A few years forward my hearing started to deteriorate, making the tones sound even louder. Also got two more sounds to the already existing choir thanks to a malpractice. If your doctor prescribes mirtazapine or ketipinor for you and say "they don't cause bad side effects or addiction", don't touch them. Just... don't. Now there's two jet planes and two broken tv channels in my head. And oh, got told by a doctor last week, that eventually I'm going to lose my hearing, and may need hearing aids perhaps in 10 years. Always nice to get news like this in your thirties.
So, here I am. During this year, I've had two acute hearing losses. My hearing has somewhat recovered from both of them, but not completely. The sounds are louder than ever. Now there's four of them, they pulsate, and there's lots of spikes. I hear them all the time. So yeah, I'm in the middle of a yet new habituation. (Excuse me if I sound a bit bitter and I hope I'm not causing anyone too much anxiety, I'm not at my best.) This is the fourth one. I do meditation and yoga, eat healthily, exercise and practice having a positive, not too serious attitude on life. They do help to some extent, but they don't do miracles. Based on my own experiences, it is indeed possible to live with the sounds. These two ladies are correct at least in one thing: by getting out of the fight-flight-freeze response concerning the sounds, it is possible to go on with your life. But have I gotten used to them? No. Do they feel normal and healthy, even after having them for almost 20 years? Hell no. It's like someone casually drilling asphalt right next to you and you're too tired to react or care. I'd want to take the vaccine, but haven't taken it yet, because I'm not sure I could handle a third need to start habituating within one year. There's times you have to use a whole handful of your daily spoons to conjure insane amounts of zen to stay on the good path and not to be plunged into a panic attack.
And finally, after this overlong introduction, what I actually came here to say: get your condition checked, if it's possible, so that you'll get a realistic plan for your future and well-being. For myself, the two most devastating things people told me, were doctors who said "there's nothing we can do, you just have to learn to live with it" (truth: there's lots of things you can do to make yourself feel better, and nobody should be just dumped to survive alone like that), and hippie positivers saying "you'll learn to tune it out so that you'll no longer even notice it, and in the best case, it may even go away" (that may or may not be the case with YOU, so don't cling to false hope, because if you do, you'll be bitterly disappointed at some point.) Concentrating on the positives is important, but I'd still prefer if people stayed realistic too. The disappointment and despair was over 9k when I realized I'm one of the ones who pulled the short straw: who have it so loud they can't tune it out, they'll hear it 24/7 for the rest of their life, and eventually it'll be the only thing they'll hear.
In a case like that probably nothing else helps except your attitude and mental strength. Both can be practiced, though, but is it easy? No. Is it fast? Hell no. But it's possible.

Tinnitus can't be cured because its cause is not understood. And, as we can see with this lady, a lot of doctors think it's psychosomatic. Tinnitus, palinopsia, fibromyalgia, are among conditions which probably are the result of such minor changes to the brain or body that medical science doesn't know how to detect them and can't treat them. You have to see, hear, or feel them for yourself to know them. A doctor would have to be exceptionally empathic to really understand and be helpful. If it is really bothering you join a forum dedicated to Tinnitus where you can meet other people in your position, learn from and help one another.

There are many cause of tinnitus like damage from loud noises, jaw bone problems, etc. There are many people who have a form of it and may not realize it or pay attention to it. I have a mild form from jaw issue and stress for the past 11 years. When I obsess over it, the sound of hissing gets much worse. I took the first vaccine shot from Pfizer with no side effects. I'm due for the second and honestly I'm hesitant because of my own mentality of thinking of all the claims made about side effects that are scary but probably not caused by the vaccine. I agree that people should get it when they feel comfortable because the fact is the manufacturers don't know how long the protection lasts yet or how sever the side effects can get. Nobody knows because this is the first time anything like this has happened. Have compassion and understanding for others in this time.

Don’t hesitate. I’ve had covid April 2020 and have had both Pfizer shots. Last one was last Friday. It will not make it worse. My ringing got worse having covid but definitely not the shots. And the side effects were less for me with the second shot but again I had a bad case of covid last year. That’s to be expected. Other than that it’s like getting the Tetanus Diphtheria vaccine and maybe a little better than that.

I had extremely slight tinnitus is my right ear since I was a teen. I barely noticed it really. After the first dose of the vaccine it got substantially worse. And then a day after that the left ear joined and is even louder than the right ear. So no, I wouldn’t recommend it. Maybe you won’t have the same experience, but maybe you will. Who knows. And I’ve had Covid. And badly. I had a fever for three weeks, and I have asthma so I had many issues with breathing. And as terrible as that was, the ear ringing is worse. It’s affecting so many aspects of my life. I can’t sleep, then all day it’s hard to function. So yeah... for me the risk of getting the vaccine outweighs the benefits.

@@karolinakaluzna Having tinnitus myself, I can emphathize. What has helped me was getting more sleep. The other thing was 'willingness' Just accepting it was there, and that there was nothing I could do about it helped me stop focusing on it, and it was easier to let my daily activities distract me from hearing it. I do understand the frustration of it suddenly getting louder after the vaccine; mine got really loud while I was undergoing chemotherapy, and I was worried it might be permanent. However, it has quietened down a bit since then, and my first shot of the Pfizer vaccine didn't increase it.

My TINITUS went through the roof after getting COVID-19 to the point that I hear RINGING over the television. I've had it since I was 16 but it never interfered w/ music or tv. The ringing increase happened about two days after getting COVID-19 for the first time recently. I also moved to a higher elevation so I thought that might have something to do with that. I'm going to test this by traveling/ staying at a lower elevation (4,000 ft less) but for now I'm focusing on COVID-19. There were some studies to show TINITUS increased after COVID-19. I believe this is a combined problem of elevation and COVID-19. It's driving me crazy!!!! 🥵 Any suggestions would help!!

    God bless you.

This video reminds me a bit of medieval bloodletting. Doctors just don't know. And with that, i'm offended by this woman saying " its not distressing " 2:10 with a smile. Adding insult to injury, promoting her book as well. You're welcome to try my world for a week. Yours truly, long covid patient with tinnitus and hyperacusis ( caused by covid infection ).
