Great work. I love the impulse of the hits at 0:21 and 0:23 - punching cultists out of sight or into the ground is funny, but also conveys just how fast the Space Marines are moving.
Finally starting to see annimations that show Space Marines fighting like it should be. These guys are supposed to be the pinnacle of a semi-human fighting force. Too much of the media says they are awesome but then doesn't show them being awesome.
To be fair they are fighting chaos cultists which in 40k is the human equivalent of a gretchin. If the marines were fighting necrons, eldar, or even a tau railgun they're going to take casualties much faster.
I love that every single attack looks perfectly calculated, they've thought out every move before they even make it and strike with brutal efficiency. Just how you'd imagine Super Soldier Demi-Gods to fight.

And, I assume you already watch the full episode by now, the gesture actually shows how Metaurus have doubt/ suspect Titus to be susceptible to chaos. More like "Take the chain, don't do reckless move and disobey me, boy"

Sooooo glad Sayama Pederson was involved in the layout. Finally getting the credit he deserves!!!

In other news, Games Workshop & Amazon Studios have finalized their deal for producing a series with Henry Cavill as executive director too. Most news articles I'm seeing for this are only a few hours old, so this is a fresh development. First series will be several years away.
Let's hope with an up to date understanding of which way the cultural winds are blowing, that this Cavill series is allowed to be good.
Hopefully, he'll have creative control
I'd rather Syama lead the series.
@@titanicpat1275 Given the timing of it (being post election), my hope is that Cavill finally got a deal he was happy with
@@achronos178 It'd be good for him to be on as a consultant, but Henry is an actual filmmaker
I love how they showed just how strong and durable Space Marines are, that man just straight up body checked that vehicle
Not even body checked, he ran straight through it
Pulled a Nolan
Titus's pauldren vibrates when hes using the chainsword on that dude in the tank. Nice attention to detail.
0:27 I love how that one guy turns to his buddy like “bro are you dumb?”
well... yes that guy was dumb
The look the 2nd cultist gives the first is like "You had one chance to shoot between the gap in his armour at the neckseal. You've killed us both fool."
Well, it was boltpistol, so astartes should be dead, helmet cannot safe from point-blank range, even if it was boltpistol for humans
@@Stanislav292I think it generally depends on the type of armor. Some Marines can indeed survive a point blank shot.
@@dashawnbonnett5847 without helmet? Only if it's not center of the head maybe near of the ear or something, but in general they would die, even from max power lasgun shot. But you got the point, it was not the "normal" armor but sergant or something like that(because they get better equipment)
But if we are talking about normal armor that would be dead astartes 100%
That coordination, That agility, That brutality....God emperor is better than I imagined, is BEAUTIFUL!
this is actually perfection, literal chills
hipchecking a speeding car and going straight through it is the perfect representation of a space marine, the immovable object.
the tanker heretic looking at his piece of junk bolt pistol wondering why it does nothing before being decapitated is absolute peak
A shame this show only does one episode of it.
Remember Henry cavill is working with amazon on a warhammer 40k show, so we may see more of this style.
hey alright
@@flamingsmore5904 Yup and he confirmed today on his insta that him and amazon have reached an agreement for the show so Henry's fight to keep the lore respect for the universe was a success excited to see what he puts out.
The eye of Valle is always watching
@@flamingsmore5904 The style is all stemming from Syama Pedersen's (the creator of Astartes) work on this. Or looks like it anyway. If Cavill and Pedersen could execute full creative control on a Warhammer series it would be a thing of beauty.
Animation went HAM on this! I love the details behind every swing. You can just feel the momentum and heft behind every strike. Like a piston shooting out. How many helmets flew off from being ragdolled by sheer force lol. Also the setting was so gooood, reminded me of 300 fighting at the hot gates.
The incredibly casual way Titus drops the grenade down the tank hatch...
1:03 Hey, I recognize those sounds!
Astertes
Astartes?
This scene speaks for itself, no words can explain just how mad the leave of detail is, chief's kiss and a hat tip to the studio behind this! Can't wait to see the full thing!!!
Not speaking while in battle is the most badass part.
Yeah, it truly shows how professional they are
Love the visceral hatred in only some of the strikes while others flow into subsequent strikes when needed with insane but never impossible speed. Truly a Warhammer masterpiece.
Watched this four times in a row on Amazon prime and each time sat further and further on the edge of the couch
0:21 Bounced off that fist like a pingball off a flipper.
This whole clip is glorious
you call it a flipper? where are you from? we call it a paddle in america
It's a paddle
I have no words. This is the best thing to come out since Astartes. Truly amazing
Ikr the music and everything
We're getting a little of that Astartes eerie-robotic-precision-stiffness back. Nice. Could be more robotic though, just to sell these guys are superhuman. No wasted movements.
That’s because the Astartes animator (Syama Pedersen) helped make this.
@@LordCrate-du8zm Yup. His style works best when capturing the essence of these walking tanks! I love Space Marine 2 as a game, but it looks too much like mocap.
@@LordCrate-du8zm He's not in the credits. Got a source?
@@NimbleJack3 Good point. I think it was confirmed outside of production.
@@NimbleJack3 if you search for Syama Pedersen's linkedin(of course it doesn't mean anything), you can see he worked for 6 month at Blur Studio. On what ? I don't know, but hopefully on this Warhammer video and other things.
How space marine actually fight
Yeah
the pure efficiency of the movements and the way they know exactly what ther armor is capable of withstanding to the point he only dodged because it would have scratched the paint is the cleanest depiction of how they would fight .now imagine the primarchs
This was THE BEST fkin episode of Secret Level.
Fax
I think this is one of the single best warhammer animations ever made for the simple reason it’s the only one I’ve ever seen where they seem to move as implied: like super humans. Most of the animations just have them as big lumbering armored hulks.
Didn't watch Astartes?
My grip with SM2 tbh, i bought the game to feel like this, felt disappointed when my darktide crackhead reject felt more powerful
Couldn't put more than 10 hours in SM2, have 400+ in Darktide
@@themelon_1785 Tbf, Titus would just walk through most of the enemies in Darktide leaving behind a red mist and strawberry jam. You can see that in SM2 when you face traitor guardsmen.
@themelon_1785 we face much greater threats in sm2 and its not even close.
this has nothing on Project Astartes
This is one of the best Warhammer animations. It's spectacular
Hats off. You have exceeded all expectations in my view. This is what SM’s would look like in terms of size, scale and brutal efficiency Vs standard human heretics. Absolutely brutal. In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future… There is Only War
This Mad Max style really fits chaos well.
By the throne.. this is glorious.
The tabletop has Spacemarines get mowed down with relative ease. This shows how superior the armor is and how fast they can move in it. Too much of the media says they are awesome but then doesn't show them being awesome.
To be fair they are fighting chaos cultists which in 40k is the human equivalent of a gretchin. If the marines were fighting necrons, eldar, or even a tau railgun they're going to take casualties much faster.
The beginning is also pretty tabletop accurate since 3 bladeguard led by titus would absolutely demolish a 20 man cultist mob
this 1 minute segment lasted 30 minutes for me, i had to watch it over and over and over again.
I love that every single attack looks perfectly calculated, they've thought out every move before they even make it and strike with brutal efficiency. Just how you'd imagine Super Soldier Demi-Gods to fight.
they aren't demigods at all.
They are prety close
Thought custodes were supposed to be the demigods
@DanteTurner-q6m No, only primarchs could be considered demigods. No others.
@@Noorthiacustodians are also considered demigods. They are literally called the brotherhood of demigods.
In the actual books themselves the primarchs are actually also treated as minor gods not demigods
I do like the body language. At 00:53 the sergeant sees Titus sprint by and he double takes to the coffin that he left behind.
At 1:30, he holds the chains back up to Titus like "You forgot this, idiot."
I dunno just the little things make me happy.
Or titus vox text him to watch it for him lol
And, I assume you already watch the full episode by now, the gesture actually shows how Metaurus have doubt/ suspect Titus to be susceptible to chaos.
More like "Take the chain, don't do reckless move and disobey me, boy"
The space marine movement in combat is just how I imagined: fast, powerful, but precise.
He literally ran through that vehicle like it was nothing!
0:26 My face is my Sword!
And my shield!
God's the sheer brutality and expertise of a Space Marine. Looks awesome!
Also, throwing those hands at 0:20 is beautiful.
Vlka Fenryka! For Russ! For the Wolftime!
He looked at that cultist like "I _beg_ your pardon??" before inverting his face.
1:05 Man, that Leftenant Primaris Aura is immaculate
(I know who he is)
thats titus btw, the most gangsta of them all
Badass. Love to see Titus being as Titus as possible.
"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war I shall forge them. They shall be of iron will and steely sinew. In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight them. This was wow. It felt like Space Marines fighting. The power, the calm demeanor, the immense violence.
Magnificent!
The animators way of showing how fast space marines are by showing Titus moving in slow motion was incredible they did the same in the Astrates animation.
HIS POWER AXE ISN'T EVEN TURNED ON, oh that made me feel more giddy than it should have
Why wasting the battery?
Why bother wasting power on fodder enemies?
