    • @AfferbeckBeats
      @AfferbeckBeats 3 года назад +19

      They also turned down a bunch of lifts at the same level of movement too. Not to mention the constant jury stops, and pointless challenge cards. So much unprofessional management at this championships. In this session, there was like 5 straight minutes of nothing happening, some confusion about lifter order and weight change. Mochida was setting up on the bar about to lift when they pulled him off because Ghadami was supposed to go, so Ghadami goes up. Then he gets pulled off, then sent back up again! Both lifters missed their next attempts, how much of that was because they were so thrown out by the disruption?

    Today, a slight elbow wobble took away Yang's 222. In retrospect, he needed a 228 to move up to silver and 229 to gold (because he would reach it before Ruslan) ASSUMING that Ruslan and the other guy maxed out, which is not a safe assumption at all. I don't think he could have done either even with proper rest. So it sucked, but it didn't do any real damage to him; he's firmly third. On the other hand, in 2018 he basically picked up a gold snatch medal because Simon Martirosyan got robbed like Yang was today, so it's all a part of the game apparently. And yes, I totally agree that the press-out rule needs to go to hell because it is ruining weightlifting.

      Strength training is more about accommodating your nervous system to be able to tolerate load. It's less to do with musculature, and more to do with how your nerves adapt to a training stimulus. It's almost like trying to learn how to play an instrument or do a stunt on a bicycle. You don't need to be jacked to do those things, but you're training your brain's ability to fire neurons in a specific sequence and then refining that pathway over time.
