The 2000 Sydney Olympics +105kg session was by far the strongest battle ever, when looking at the whole competition. 5 lifters totaled 460kg or more. No other superheavy session has been that competitive.
Hey weightlifting house. Can you make a video on the evolution of each lifts wrs from the 1800's to Lasha. Maybe even covering some other lifts that used to be on Olympic Weightlifting like the one arm snatch or the clean and press. Should be a great series!
@@LilPimpOfficial I spoke too soon, didn't see the Injiry before I commented Honestly though if he gets his leg sorted he should just go for it, imo all those 1kg jumps on records were wasting time
I keep saying it's a great day for being a fan of the sport. Lasha is a once in a generation guy for sure but now we have someone who has the ability to push him. It's the same as watching Michael Jordan back in the day. Some of us got to witness the greatest NBA player ever. We're very fortunate.
500kg was eyed by Antonio way back in 1987 when he had done 222.5 + 270 in training, and even heaved 227.5 up on straight arms only to lose it behind. Do you remember the World Weightlifting Magazine pre-1988 Olympic Games article? "Krastev's next goal: 500kgs!"
I feel blessed to be able to watch these great athletes compete. I kind of feel for Lalayan despite his achievement he's always been in the shadow of Lasha. If nothing changes, I'm coming to Paris 2024 to see it live!
Looking at this, you'd think Lasha is old and washed, but he's actually 29 years old. Gor is 28. There's plenty of action left in these guys. Also, the voiceover repeats itself towards the end, still a great video tho.
No disrespect but there is no “battle” as long as Lasha is not seriously injured, and Lasha proved my words last time they faced, as in prematurely proved me right!
Could someone please explain how weight affects lifting capabilities (or point me to an explanation)? It is very confusing to me. I would understand muscle weight, but how is the 100kg fat bag that Lasha (or any other Heavy WL) is carrying on his belly giving him a competitive edge? Or inversely, if he, by some miracle, went to 7% fat tomorrow without muscle loss, would he be able to lift the same? Thank you.
It's not 860kg at 9:03. That is 180kg. it's an editing error obviously. It's surprising that almost no one in the comment section knows 1 kg > 1 lbs.. 💀 860 kg would be close to 1900 lbs..!
Lalayan beating Lasha to the 500kg would be fucking bonkers. And it would be a real shame if it happened because of an injury. EDIT: Damn Lalayan's jerk is FAST. It just *popped* up with that 230.
It would be very similar to when Carl Lewis was beaten by Mike Powell's new world record, after being for years the only person close to Beamon's world long jump record.
I don’t think we will ever see a 500kg total. Unfortunately, lasha just won’t be in that top shape again he will get a great total in Paris but not close to 500
IIya’s record was 437 which is very far from 460 and above that these guys regularly lifting. Please do not forget that he disqualified from two olympics gold medals.
@@andranikhakobyan5648yeah but ilya was also a 105 whereas these guys are waaaay heavier. Also if you want to talk about getting disqualified... he got popped for PEDs and every single one of these lifters is 100% guaranteed also using. They just havent been caught for whatever reason. Your argument is completely invalid
I'm not a doctor but from someone who has had 4 knee surgeries possibly a meniscal issue since he didn't take a long time off. But looking at it there is bruising north of the patella so maybe a quadricep muscle/tendon issue. Tears of the major ligaments/tendons or quadriceps muscle would require an extended time away for surgery and rehab. Something like an ACL tear for example is probably a year even for someone like Lasha. Seb said he irritated the other knee due to compensating for the bad one so I would guess maybe some form of knee tendonitis which hurts like hell by the way. Again just a guess off anecdotal experience.
Lasha has admitted to a heart condition. Superb in snatch but not much more than 1988 in c&j. Many many super heavy lifters retired early before full potential and now Lasha with muscle, joint injuries and heart condition will he retire.
Love the coverage, and commentary. However, as impressive as these men are, how can they be labeled as the strangest ever? Clearly Naim would win by the sinclair formula.
Kasha has NOTHING to prove. He will go down the history as the strongest(Not pound for pound) Olympic weightlifter. Age and injury catches up on everyone.

I went .25 speed and it still looked like magic raised it. Dumbfounded.
Last time I was this early was my wedding night.
Peep that 860kg snatch at 9:04
😂
Looking forward to seeing these two compete against each other again. But I could tell Lasha was in a lot of pain from his knees.
Such great story telling, Seb. High quality content man.
Thank you!
Three fantastic athletes from two brotherly small, Christian countries - Armenia and Georgia!

Yeah that is true. That competition made 260kg seem routine.
Rezazadeh was the Alpha of group...hes easy cleaning schocked all challengers.
Lasha is great in two exercises .
Lasha heading to the 2k total, 860 snatch already achieved.👀

The chances are low for a 500 total, but if anyone will do it, it will be Lasha.
bruh, he could total 500+ with his snatch alone. Just look at how smooth this 800 kg looks 9:04
What do you mean the chances are low? He's almost there
