- This is the new mesh WiFi system from Netgear. I paid $129.00 for this at Walmart on 9-28-19. This is so new that I am unable to find them anywhere for sale online yet. I am wondering if Walmart wasn't supposed to put them out yet. Walmart had a very nice display with these and the sales rep was really pushing them.
This video not only provides an unboxing but I also take you all the way through setting them up with the Android app.
If you like videos such as these, I am just starting my RUclips channel and would appreciate it if you could give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and click the notification bell so that you get notification of my new videos as they are released. Thank you! - Приколы
Thank you for your Orbi set up video. We just bought it and your video was very very useful to us. Our Orbi is now connected to our wifi thanks to your instruction video. We looked at other videos and it was confusing. Thank you for taking the time to help others connect their orbi to their wifi and thank you for sharing.
Glad I could help!!
Thanks for your setup review...just got this system..and needed the advice.
Thanks! You helped me solve my problems with Orbi. I have the two satellites and had the toughest time trying to connect them until I saw your video. Kudos to you!
Glad I could help!

Thank you so much for explain with this router
Thank you for the video.
Great Video
This is the same one I have. It is very good.
great vedio
Great video, thanks for sharing!
No problem...hope it helped
Thanks for uploading a video on this. I purchased this item earlier today and unfortunately I will be taking it back. I did not realize the satalites did not have an ethernet port. And that's a deal breaker for me. Other than that this device seems to be working fine.
One has an ethernet port and the other does not.
@@dskrpncs like most mesh the satellite acts as a extender you dope
@@jdillard343434 yes...I understand that. What's your point?
I got the orbi rbk852 and it has 5 Ethernet ports on the main unite and 4 Ethernet ports on the satellite unit. The Ethernet ports on the satellite unit really come in handy. I was considering hard wiring a few rooms for faster speeds but the satellite having Ethernet ports made it really easy. Doesn’t look as nice as going through the walls but much easier to just connect to the satellite units Ethernet port.
Thanks
Hi thanks for your review! I too got one recently, however my ISP provides a PPPoE internet and I am not able to connect to the internet even after cloning the MAC of my last working router. Any specific change I need to make to get connected to the internet?
Sorry...I am unable to answer that question
Good morning, I have had my Orbi for years now. One of the satellites just quit working on me. I bought a refurbished system and I am trying to add one of the satellites to my current system and I can't figure it out. So I disconnected all of my satellites and used the refurbished ones. My goal was to add another satellite to the system for better coverage. I guess I can't add anymore then what comes with the system???
I can't get my orbi system to recognize the satellite. I follow the steps of the application but the satellite does not turn on any light and nothing happens. What I can do?
is there a reset on the satellite? This is what I found...If the power LED on the back of the Orbi satellite does not light, press the power on/off button. F. Wait for the Orbi satellite's ring LED to light solid white, then pulse white. ... The Orbi satellite's ring LED might turn solid magenta for up to one minute while the satellite attempts to sync with the Orbi router.
How far away was your satellites from your router? I have the RBK13, 1200AC that says it covers 4,500 sq feet. I put 1 satellite on the same floor at the opposite side of the house and the second satellite on the second floor right above the router. Neither satellite will connect and my main 2 floors are not 4,500 sq feet. Any ideas???
The router is in the basement...probably 40 feet from the satellite
He’s peeing in the toilet while doing this review 😂😅 classic
Sorry...thats actually my aquariums in the background
Hi there. Thanks for the video. Can you specify which devices can connect to the 2.4 vs 5ghz bands? So if your WiFi ssid name is Galaxy do you have 2 that you can connect 2 (galaxy & galaxy-5) which will allow you specify phones on 5ghz and tv on 2.4ghz
I have never considered running it that way but I need to look into it.
If it doesn’t give you the option when you configured the router then it probably isn’t like the other netgear routers
@@mohammedmowzer871 I believe that it did but I wasn't looking to do that so I probably just went with what I know

So do I require a modem from a seperate provider then connect it to the Orbi, or can the two Orbi systems be used as a fast wifi source, just asking because I have it so it’s just the two Orbi systems and I’m barely getting 1mbps
Yes, your modem is supplied by your internet provider. It usually is a modem/router (this bringing the signal to the house and also providing wifi). The main unit of the ORBI will connect (via ethernet cable) to the modem supplied by your internet provider. This the ORBI will now act as the wifi module. The modem will be in "bridge" mode- bridging to the ORBI
dumb question. So if i buy this mesh i will no longer use the Wi-Fi connection on my Wi-Fi router and now am going to using the Orbi for all my devices. My Wi-Fi current router just doesn't have the distance i need. And thanks for the Video
Right...you likely have another box before your current wifi router currently. This will replace your current wifi router.
How many add on’s can you add to the network?
Hello. I just watched your video to see if it would help troubleshoot an issue I'm currently having. I have the same Orbi model as you, RBR10 with 2 satellites. Purchased in July 2020. Our router is in the basement connected to the modem. The first satellite is on the main floor and is offline (hence my problem). Second satellite is on the second story and is connected. I have the Orbi app on my iPhone and can verify that the main floor orbi is off-line with a magenta dot. I've tried multiple solutions and after 2 hours, can't seem to get the main floor orbi to come online. Any suggestions? Can't seem to find any worthwhile troubleshooting tips out there...
My router is right next to my modem in the basement of a 900 sq ft ranch home. The satellite is on ylthe main floor. I have never had any problems with these. You may need to unplug everything. The power up the modem and then the base unit and then the satellite. Sorry...that is all I have for a recommendation. Good luck!
@@dskrpncs Thanks, I will try that. Worse case scenario, I will try the Netgear contact centre tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
Do you have to paid netgear yearly Security ??
Can I directly connect NBN FTTP to Orbi RBK12 AC1200 system directly and configure like other routers ? I couldnt find any WAN port. Or is it like updated version of extenders?
Sorry...I dont have an answer for that question.
So since you add a different wifi name and p/w, do you have to re-log into everything?
You will need to reconnect with the new login and password.
Yes, you do
I just simply returned this crazy stuff that took me 2 hours
Can we connect the base unit to the Internet thru wifi from my 5g mobile router and then the mesh system distribute the internet?
I dont believe so. You could plug a cable between the mobile router and the base unit
Is it good?
I want to buy
I can't get the orbi set up option to show up in my wifi settings
Just picked up a set any decrease in speed at all?
I have noticed nothing but better connections, fewer service drops, etc. Well worth the upgrade.
Thanks for recording the entire setup process and not glossing over it - I see it's still pretty much the same mess it was for me two years ago when I bought my first Orbi system that I ended up returning (an RBK50, AC3000). Took it back and got an RBK43, same issues with lack of stability, satellites becoming regularly disconnected and requiring a hard reboot to re-sync, loss of internet, etc. How has this system been for you from a stability perspective, after several weeks, assuming you're still using it? I like the new design, but the lack of ethernet ports on the satellites and my history with Orbi and horrible stability make it a no-go for me. There are other systems out there (Google, Amplifi and Eero) that are SO much easier to set up, and are far more stable and reliable.
I replaced a Belkin router that had to be restarted constantly. I have not had any issues with this router and I like how easy it is for me to turn off a wireless connection to spend ific devices. My kids dont like that aspect. They seem to be working great. No complaints.
Does any one know how to set up the Orbi with a PPPoE connection?
Can you set DFS channels in 5ghz mode?
Sorry...I am unsure if you can but can likely find an answer online.
We got this and it didn’t work at all and do we leave our old router plugged in
Yes, old router supplied by the internet service needs to stay plugged in. It will connect via ethernet cable to the main ORBI. You will likely need to login to your old/modem router to switch it over to "bridge" mode.
Could I use my nighthawk ex7300 with this?
Not sure what that is
My satellite is blinking red.. any idea what this means?
If it has been blue since you set it up then you must not be getting a signal from the base unit. I am unsure what would cause that.
I have seen many videos on RUclips, and they all say that the internet is very fast. Yet, for me, it’s actually kind of slow. I’m not sure if I did something wrong, but it takes longer for my stuff to load. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
In the time that this video has been up I have not had any connection issues. The only time I have issues is when the provider's modem needs a reset or the internet service is down.
I am so confused and very frustrated. I am at the part where it says to connect to a cable modem but I don’t have cable at all and I am pretty much stuck here with no way to continue on.
Edit: Nevermind, I finally got it working again. That took forever. lol
can this be attached to my existing nighthawk router?
Is the nighyhawk a router or a modem? From what I am finding. Netgear Nighthawk is a modem & a wifi router. It should attach to an existing provider modem/router like any other wifi router.
@@dskrpncs the one I have is just a router. I have it connected to a modern.
@@Fawknrican4 why don’t you connect the Orbi directly to the modem ?
Do u need a net gear WiFi box
Thus is the wifi box. It comes with a wifi router and a satellite
It says I'm connected to orbi but doesn't work! You had to "try again" but it worked for you on the second time.. not for me!
Sorry...not sure what to tell you. Maybe try resetting the equipment that's before the orbi
What's up with the running water in the background.
I have 2 aquariums which you are hearing.
You peeing bro?
fish tank
Turn the damn water off!
Sorry...its an aquarium
