In the first case, if the patient got into an unsupervised area and ingested the chemical, why was an employee charged with abuse instead of negligence?

Shut them down, file charges against the workers/staff and management. Our elderly are being harmed, mistreated and dying in these assisted living facilities. Maybe this will grab the attention of other assisted housing facilities to wake up or be held responsible. Families, due your due diligence and place hidden cameras in their rooms/suites.
