Many nations still have their own royal families but in almost every nation in the world if you simple say "The Queen" without qualifier they automatically think of the Queen of England, 96 years of life, more then 70 years as Queen, Wartime Ambulance driver, public servant, diplomat without equal, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother.... and as someone who has worked with soldiers who guarded and met her personally an all round nice woman i'm told.
I can confirm that lots of us in Italy were shocked when the announcement came. I literally saw people crying while I was on the bus, all reading the news on their phone. I was moved too honestly, and the journalist too
Thank you Italy. I'm on vacation in eastern Europe and locals went to the embassy with flowers and candles in sorrow to pay tribute for our Queen . Very emotional.

She was queen for as long as I have been alive. She was truly the baby boomer's queen. She saw our parents through a war, and then watched their children grow up.
To put it in perspective. She served 70 continuous years. But she onIy started her reign as Queen 64 years after Jack The Ripper started his reign of terror. Thats how Iong she served us!
It was destined to happen at some point, especially during these times. But still, it's amazing how she was able to be UK's queen for 70 years. Rest in peace. 🇬🇧

I don't really care much for the royal family, but it still hit harder than I imagined it would. As someone from England, it's strange to say we now have a King.
Just wanna mention that the German Broadcast here was never interrupted. It was the standard 20.00 / 8 PM News Show, the Queen's Death was just the first part (after the introduction seen here they proceeded to show a more throughout report talking about her life, the entire thing took up half of the show's duration though) The only thing that differentiated this death announcement from the others this news show does is the length of the report (around 8 minutes, while the show only runs till 8.15 PM) And that instead of being the last before weather and sports, it was the very first news of the show.
To be fair though there is just as much talk about the new king as there is about the dead queen. To the rest if the world the UK is one big episode of Downton Abby we dont take it serious at all.
This was the end of a long great era. I appreciate being alive at the same time and witness when Queen Elizabeth II was the great dutiful sovereign who reigned the longest of all time. She served her country well, and became The Queen around the world. Her legacy will live on.
What a remarkable lady. She devoted her whole life to our service, united our country, became a worldwide icon and showed us her warmth and passion through the thousands of interactions and engagements she had with the public. Her incredible personality and gratitude will be heavily missed. She's lived a life that we will never be able to comprehend. Her personal life and family matters were heavily covered and scrutinised by the media and through all the difficulties she overcame in her long and illustrious life, she kept pushing on until her final hours. It's hard to imagine life without Queen Elizabeth, she has always been there for everyone. She always put the public first and got on with the job. We took her for granted and never realised just how much she meant to all of us until she finally passed. As the nation mourns, let us be glad that through the most unexpected twists in the history of the monarchy, Princess Elizabeth became our Queen and for the last 70 years, she has been a beacon of light, a breath of fresh air and the greatest monarch the world has ever seen. She may be someone's daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but she also happened to be the greatest Queen of all time who has left a gigantic void that will never be filled ever again. RIP your Majesty. Thank you for everything you have done.
I said the same about Michael Jackson passing. There's only one king of pop. Then Justin Bieber came along and changed my mind. Times change and we adapt.
Though im not from the UK, this news is saddening. Shes a memorable icon as a lot of people grew up knowing her. When people refer to the Queen, everyone around the world knew its Queen Elizabeth. Thats how universal she was. Rest in peace Your Majesty. You'll be forever remembered.
I know you're making a joke. But When King George VI died If you look online you'll find that the British newspaper Headline said "The King is Dead" It is very matter of fact. Very abrupt isn't it.
For me it goes way beyond my comprehension how important out late queen was on the world stage. I thank everybody for their reverence in reporting this tragedy and hope you could wish us well for the future.
I remember the fun story… that some bride and groom invited the queen to their wedding…. And she just showed up… she was an incredibly strong woman.. Long Live the Queen…
Very True. On a different note in England ,on the evening of her death in the TV Studio where the 2 newscasters were discussing it, the Guy kept, accidentally, saying about the new King... "His Majesty The Queen" as he had spent 60 years calling our Monarch: "The Queen"...
I'm ashamed to admit that growing up, I always said to myself: "When is this lady going to pass!?" I'm very sorry for this and truly saddened by England's loss.
it was while I was in school. The entire school was panicking, and people were crying. Even though it's in the US she has a strong place in our hearts. Our school took a moment of silence for her.
Interrupted all programs in the uk, on the channel my mum was watching the news reporter was on the verge of tears. Remember, this is a 96 year old and a news reporter is on the verge of tears because of her death. If it's affected news reporters in the uk then I can't imagine the impact it had worldwide.

I like how the German media outlet didn't drag it out and started the broadcast with the most pertinent information first.
how it should of been too.
One of the main reasons is that it's not just *a* German media outlet, it's *the* German media outlet there is for watching news. Tagesschau is the biggest German news programme that's broadcast on multiple channels at the same time, so the news are always down to the point with no unnecessary talking whatsoever.
Still, the Tagesschau broadcast was highly unusual, as famous people who died are usually the last thing before the weather, unless their death is part of another news story like an attack targeted at that person.

Duty, sacrifice, stoicism, grace, manners, humility, wisdom and humour - she epitomised the very heart of Britain and I fear we shall not see her like again. Rest in peace dear Elizabeth you shall be missed.
The future is not a positive one...in 50 years the Queen or King might be replaced by a sultan...
" The Britain she leaves is unrecognisable from the one she was born into": a UK in decline, ruled by entitled, royalty-worshipping Tories who have wrecked all the gains that socialists achieved.

She was a magnificent monarch...RIP ma'am
Don't know why people in the replies felt the need to type snide remarks or just plain rude comments. Being rude to someone's dead mother and grandma. Just ignore the news if you truly don't care. There's no need to act like a mean high school girls pretending indifference while constantly throwing shade every chance they got.
A lot of the folks with snide comments typically think shes the cause for their country's decline so it's kinda understandable how and why they would think so.
They tend to forget that, in a constitutional monarchy, the monarchy has 0 power, yet she was somehow responsible for Britain's colonialism.
@@spyrall2210 They like to put responsibilities onto someone else she wasn’t to blame for their problems
@@robert55726 Some people just like to blame others for their own miserable lives.
@@spyrall2210 not sure why its understandable. Please elaborate.
It really speaks to the impact Elizabeth made on the world when you can just say 'the Queen' without specifying a country or name and everyone will know who you're talking about.
Beatrix of the Netherlands of course!

The Germans, Italians and French all specified which queen though.
@@Me1le Well, America took something like fifteen seconds to get to the name
A bad impact
It's surreal the comments on this video that show so much disrespect to Queen Elizabeth II, I'm only 16 and I admired her for the role she played on worlds history and I think she needs to get the respect she deserves It is incredible how disrespectful this generation is and this way the british monarchy won't last for much longer, but I hope it does and may Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace, she will forever be missed around the whole world.
What role has she played in the world history ? Could you please elaborate my 16 year old friend
You need some lessons in history to know what British Monarchy has done in other countries before 1950s
You are only 16, you need to learn a lot more....
colonization?
"only" 16
Edit : oh whoops seems like i'm the only one with this opinion here. You found yourself a handful of old people who think they know better just because they're older
I still find it heartbreaking after all this time
My sincere condolences goes to the British people who have lost a truly remarkable and majestic soul. From France
