  • From the United States to South Africa, New Zealand to Ukraine, the world has come together to remember the Queen.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
    -------
There were even tributes from nations decidedly unfriendly to the UK, Russia and China, although the Kremlin said President Putin would not be attending the Queen's state funeral later this month. President Joe Biden has confirmed in the last hour that he does plan to be there.

"I cannot lead you into battle, I do not give you laws or administer justice. But I can give you something else - I can give you my heart and my devotion to these old islands and to all the people's of our brotherhood of nations" - Queen Elizabeth II
She was all class, and she will be missed; from a very thankful Australia. Rest In Peace our glorious Queen Elizabeth II

I’m a Brit who is currently in the Czech Republic (and feeling surprisingly homesick). The Queen’s death is still one of the main news items over here, and on the day she died the newsreels were full of old footage of her visits to Czechia, her meetings with national hero Vaclav Havel, etc.
It never occurred to me that I would be abroad when this day finally came, but it has impressed upon me how the Queen is fondly embedded in the collective memory of countries far beyond the commonwealth. From historic moments of transition to occasions of joy, she has been a unifying symbol and diplomatic figurehead whose long presence on the world stage has been appreciated much more widely and deeply than I ever fully realised until now.
Across the world people have sent their condolences not only to the royal family, but to the British people. This is touching, and it shows how the affection people throughout the world naturally felt towards the Queen has made it easy for them to understand the deep sense of loss currently being felt amongst the British.

I can only concur with other messages I am reading here. I am a Brit that has spent a long time abroad, my parents and grandparents raised me with a deep love our monarch. Now that she has left I feel broken and left with the feeling that an era has ended. What keeps me from crying is that she lived to see her Platinum Jubilee, but more importantly that other people feel the way I do, and even more crucially, that others abroad, non-British, non-Commonwealth citizens, have shared our grief and sent messages of compassion, from France to Germany, to Luxembourg to Thailand, to Japan. (I am not forgetting the USA that has also been beautiful in its many tributes)
Thank you everyone. You have made this time less painful.

The Queen's self restraint is legendary. She could have easily made opinions known more, but she didn't go around telling people what to think overtly publically.
Many of my relatives who are in her generation are very much the same. Most think before sharing things in public. They don't share emotions in public, except for being kind and compassionate unless it came to their own kids if they needed to be immediately corrected in public when they were little. They don't think that everyone needs to know their opinion.
In my own life, it takes me a lot for me to show anger impulsively. I prefer to think the issue over and then discuss the issue calmly. That is a legacy from my family who are from the Queen's generation. It has helped me to descalate many situations. The Queen still made some of her opinions known just by being herself, like driving around the head of state from a country that have only recently allowed women to drive. Her ability to do that spoke volumes and allowed others to "save face" and not feel the need to be defensive. It built bridges instead of walls.
There are times when standing up for others is needed, but it has gotten out of control with other people demanding others to think exactly like them or be cancelled or being part of a political party means you are a terrible person.
We don't all need to have the same opinion. We can show others respect even if we think they are wrong. As i have matured, I have found that many of my opinions have changed since I was 20 years old. We can also be right, but be wrong in how we voice our opinions. Sometimes we are wrong, but have trouble even listening to what someone has to say. Self restraint is a valuable skill that we all need. The Queen was master that we can learn from.

Losing the queen feels incredibly similar. For my entire life she has been monarch and I’ve seen her on television, in the news, at Xmas day for her message etc. She always felt so present & it was like seeing a grandparent on the news.
It is a loss beyond words for my country and so many others. In a world of fickle politics & self-serving politicians, she seemed authentic. Within the scope of her power she ensured people weren’t suffering needlessly.
None of us will ever live within the blessed reign of another queen & there will never again be a queen so blessed as she who gave so much to our country.

Coming from Malaysia, my mother and grandparents grew up under British colonialism. They enjoyed those times as my mother used to recall her childhood with imported English chocolates, comics and books. I was so envious as during my time English chocolates were a bit expensive but still I enjoyed my treats and smarties and Cadbury. And I was addicted to Dandy and Beano comics and Enid Blyton of course. My mom said british bosses were kind to their employees and she did really enjoy her childhood. The Queens coronation was shown in convent schools which my mom remembers very well. The Queen has directly and indirectly touched the hearts of so many around the world

Her presence is etched into the psyche of billions of people across the globe as a symbol of service and an upholder of divine faith in God and belief in charity and unity that underpins Christianity and The Church of England. I never knew it would have the feeling of atmost sadness, despair & sorrow. 3 of my grandparents passed before I was born and the one remaining grandmother was very distant. That’s precisely why she was special. Because she transcended politics. How many in the world have seen what she saw? Interacted with whom she did? Been where she’s been? For as long as she did? She’s been on the world stage for over 70 years - longer than any politician, any Hollywood star, any other religious leader. That in itself is incredible. A dutiful woman, worthy of respect, doing a job she never wanted, privileged yes, but sacrificing much too. For her country and for her people. I care not for the monarchy - but I cared deeply for our Queen.

    From Treetops to balmoral,
    across the shifting scenes.
Constant was her model, the best of all our queens.
    Could a monarch still belong,
In a world changed so fast?
    Well 70 years along,
The flags are all half mast.
    Powers she had none,
    Not easy was that reign.
    Her duties were all done,
Though she ruled in only name.
    Less power than any other,
    Yet nobody could deny.
The death of this one mother,
    Made a whole world cry.

When I first set eyes on Her Majesty's portrait as a six year old singing "God Save The Queen" in school, I found myself inevitably enthralled by her beauty, charm, serenity and a certain nobility that only Her Majesty may radiate.
There was so much to like about H R H and the song simply because they are a perfect fit. Beauty can only begets such a beautiful and glorious song so thoughtfully composed, and to whom, I've always wondered, we should give credit to?
The little I know about Her Majesty which I had garnered from footages and documentaries, established my belief and much more, that Her Majesty was a kind and decent human being, a genuinely caring and affectionate monarch without airs, who made it her duty to intermingle with her subjects from time to time whenever time permits, and genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. She was such a fun loving queen and so down to earth.
On the other side of her, she knew too, that though born and thrusted into greatness, inheriting great powers come great responsibilities.
If there were those who had thought that the young queen was doomed to failure, she proved them wrong. Not once would Her Majesty shirked from her responsibilities and devotion to duty. Her working visits to so many countries, both commonwealth or otherwise during her reign were testaments to her commitments and dedication.
Even mundane affairs like replying letters of those who wrote to her for help, did not escape her attention despite the limited time on hand. She had that personalised touch which made people feel important and cared for, that they all meant alot to her.
The world I'm certain, must have been captivated not only by her immense beauty, but more importantly, her capacity as a monarch, her compassion dedication, devotion, wisdom, generosity, charisma ,diplomacy, humour, but above all, her humility, a virtue that makes greatness in humans greater. Even two days before her demise, hardly able to carry herself, Her Majesty remained selfless to the end.
Her Majesty may have gone to be united with God and her beloved husband, but it doesn't change the fact that I was once her royal subject and proud of it by serving The Royal Air Force during my early years.
John Keats once said; "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." This is the way I believe the people of Britain and perhaps the world will always cherish and remember Her Majesty by. ❤ God Save The Queen.
Without further ado, I wish to pay my respect to HRH, Queen Elizabeth ll and to extend my heartfelt condolences to His Majesty the King, his Royal family and to the British people. Your loss is also my loss too.
REST IN ETERNAL PEACE QUEEN ELIZABETH ll.YOUR PRESENCE WILL BE SORELY MISSED.
    "LONG LIVE THE KING"
