This guy is wrong at the VA hospital.
The person at the door instead of turning her away should call their supervisor or management to ask for exception for her to at least wait in the lobby of the hospital so she won’t have to wait in the car.
No, excuse, she didn’t have to die.

Mrs. Lear did not deserve to die like that. This should not have happened. More than 50 yrs she was by her husband's side only to be treated like a non-factor who was in the way.
While their actions may not have been outright malicious their attitudes were atrocious & indifferent. That's not how you treat the wife of U.S. Veteran and certainly not an elderly woman.
The VA needs to recognize & respect the roles wives play in not just their husband's careers but their after-care beyond active duty. Without their wives many would be far worse off so please VA administration & medical staff RESPECT the wives of your veterans.
I'm so tired of hearing about trifling deaths connected to inadequate, trifling & often indifferent maltreatment of our veterans at the hands of the VA hospital. Many of their policies do more harm than good to the veteran and by extension, their wives. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Lear on his loss. May God be his strength throughout.

Lol she died in the car it was her own fault. It’s sad she died for sure but come on you know to not stay in a hot car over 90 it was 110. She was in her 70s and couldn’t drive somewhere down the street? At certain point once you feel like your gonna pass out from the heat you make the call to change the situation. She was not locked in the car like a kid or animal she had options.

That’s how I saw it, she’s not a baby or a dog. By the age of 70, she should've known better to go where it’s cooler. Or just sit or stand outside of the car. The air outside of the car would have been a lot better then inside the car.

When we were finally allowed back into the hospital to visit him…… My brother who was 6’8” was absolutely skin and bones. We walked in around breakfast time. There was a tray of food in front of him teasingly close. Because of the severity of his Parkinson’s he was too shaky to feed himself. He had a bottle of Ensure with a straw in it he was sipping from. My sister fed him the whole tray of food,he ate every bite!!! It took about 20 to 25 minutes to feed him. Sadly he never recovered. My brother was allowed to starve to death during Covid!!!!! Because of Covid restrictions ridiculous restrictions!!!!

You should've called a cab to take her home. You should have known the policy. Never let a older person stay in the car alone.

She had health problems and probably didn't have the strength to move anymore once she was in the car. Elderly only have so much energy.
Plus, she was a loyal wife. Naturally, she wasn't going to go to far from her husband. Literally as close to his side as possible.

This could have happened to me at the VA in Atlanta. I had to sit in the car on an extremely hot day while he got hours of infusion. I'm crying 😢

I’m sure if you felt like you were dying or couldn’t take the heat anymore. You’ would had gotten out of the car to find a place with ac. She was old enough to knew better then to stay in that car. Sorry but that’s the truth.

So Sorry for your loss Sir, I have waited also while my father would get transfusions. But if I got hot, I would go sit at the food places near that facility!
An my Father would have 2 a month sometimes near the end of his life, and these transfusions take 7plus hours, an on the really hot days, I would just drop him off!
I can't understand why his wife would just sit in the heat! The Valley is only so big an not far to drive to any location to get out of the heat, even home!
She must have had many underlying conditions?!
Once again, So sorry for the passing of your wife.

This is so sad, I wonder why she just didn't go home when she was getting hot or go to a restaurant near by or something. If she didn't want to drive maybe she could have gotten a cab. Something not quite right here.

This is heartbreaking. I understand there are policies in place to protect the patients and staff but they weren't told this prior or else she wouldn't have been there. Also with the above 100 degree temperature outside they should've let her sit in the cafeteria or a waiting area. That heat on the west coast is brutal, I wouldn't sit in a car even with it running. It's just not safe. Praying for his peace. RIP to his lovely wife.🙏🙏🕊🕊

I am sorry to hear this and my condolences to the family. I wonder if the hospital was aware that the wife would be waiting in the hot care? Covid has taken a toll on many families. Some of the covid rules in a hospital were horrible, but the rules now regarding covid seem to be better, even though covid is still around and is not going anywhere.
